I moved apartments within Arlington today and BoxStar Movers made it a very easy experience! I hired BoxStar movers to move my one bedroom apt to a 2 bedroom condo using Yelps' projects feature. They checked all of my criteria (budget, insured, great reviews, etc.). I received a quote very quickly and was even able to easily adjust my move time after I had hired them when an earlier slot because available at the condo. Communication was alway friendly and quick. The day of the move I was given an arrival window of 0900-1000. Uka and Isidro arrived right at 0900 and went right to work. Although I'm a seasoned mover and very well organized, these gentleman were quick!! They had everything loaded in less than an hour-that's including them needing to wrap all of my furniture in blankets. They followed me over to the new condo and got straight to work. They followed my instructions to a T for where to put everything as they brought it in (remember seasoned mover and hyper-organized :) ) Move-in took 2 hrs because they had to navigate a longer walk and stairs at the condo. 3 hrs total for an across town move, I was impressed. The scheduling process with Luna and day of the move was smooth. The four movers who came were incredibly hard working and diligent. I would say this is closer to 4.5. The only reason why it's not a 5 is that they accidentally scraped a wall carrying down a huge heavy double dresser down some tight stairs. While it was tough, it could have been avoided with slow maneuvering. It was suggested that I call it into the office for a discount. Hmm, I would've preferred more proactiveness on a remedy. All in all, they did a great job packing (what was necessary), moving and reassembling everything in our new home. They hustled as a storm came rolling in at the end of the day. While it wasn't at all necessary, we provided lunch and drinks. I would highly recommend this company! Great value and good customer service. read more

BoxStar helped a neighbor move from one house to another a block away. I decided to give them a shot when I saw them ever so carefully moving a piano up the street! Their proposal was the best and their performance was great. They had two trucks available and extra hands so that we could tell them haul this away as junk or pack this for the move. They wrapped furniture very carefully for storage and were attentive to everything we needed during a move from our house of 35 years. From a front office perspective, most everything was fine. I'm sure that I don't like having a surprise, "we can't work until you sign this contract" form presented as soon as the truck showed up. The form, of course, is a liability release from any/all damage beyond a pennies per pound while they are moving things from house to container. Four-man crew - 3 out of 4 ain't bad as far as working hard and independently to get the job done. The 4th often paused to watch the others' work as they packed the container or maneuvered through doorways. As we unloaded the PODS container at destination, it became clear that boxes marked as "Fragile; Pack on top" was interpreted to mean, "It is perfectly fine to stand on top of this box of china." Piece after piece was clinkingly unwrapped to find the top of the fragile boxes were dented or partially crushed from having been put at the bottoms of stacks of heavier items. The true crushing, sinking feeling came when we came to the two pieces of furniture that we had SPECIFICALLY told the movers were important to us. First, the solid wood Sideboy with the previously cracked leg. IT WAS packed on its side with heavy (55lb) handweights sitting on top of it among other heavy items. The other - our Rosewood dining table that we have packed out five times previously... 'please take care of this piece' --- NOW has a broken leg from riding 2100 miles in a PODS container with heavy furniture stacked on TOP of it. Hopefully, I can find a furniture pro who can repair this table that we have had since 1995. Note: The movers were paid to wrap a few pieces of furniture. As I relayed to the company after, "In what universe do professional movers wrap plastic tape onto painted or finished surfaces, THEN put shrinkwrap over the top? Of course the paint/finish is marred when the tape is carefully pulled off ... 2100 miles later through DC humidity to West Texas dry desert air. About 60% of the way through loading the PODS, the crew advised that our stuff would not all fit in the container. 20/20 hindsight --- if we had known that earlier, we would have been able to better pick and choose which important pieces we would keep in the UHaul and not entrust to the movers and the ???PODS??? driver(s). Three stars: The workers showed up when promised. They did not waste time running up the clock. They acted very professionally and courteously. At the end of the day, we were not overcharged beyond the quoted price. Much of the packed out load was not damaged, as in 'they didn't screw up 100% of my stuff'...also, having moved more than 12 times in 35 years, I know that things get dinged when you put them in a box, then in a box, then in a container that goes on a truck. BUT - this goes well beyond sloppy and onto nearly negligent. I was asked (by the office) "Didn't you watch them when they were ...?" Of course I did watch what I could --- but four movers working inside and outside and in basement, 1st and 2nd floors, of course I couldn't (in italics) watch every part of every evolution. I further qualify my review as a 'double PODS' move survivor --- this was our 2nd PODS container this move. The first one had one box that was marked fragile that ended up on the bottom of a stack. It did not have any of the egregious "funny if it wasn't happening to me" upside down or Leaning Towers of Doom. Ok, done - I have done my part to openly, honestly, and hopefully a bit objectively submit my review ... I might use this company again ... the conflict of being on the clock adds to the confusion of "get it done fast vs. get it done right" does lend itself to part of the responsibility falling on my shoulders to accept some slop in exchange for keeping a good pace to get the job finished. read more

Superb moving service! We had so much stuff and it took them a total of 12 hours and 2 trips. The only company I found with 4 movers with a very competitive price. The truck is huge 26'! They were super careful with my furniture, nothing was scratched or broken. They dissembled and assembled everything. All the movers were polite, pleasant and wore masks. Who likes moving? No one! These guys are professional! Showed up on time, started right away, finished a 1/2 hour earlier than expected, and could place everything I had in the cargo trailer with room to spare. (I was concerned it wasn't all going to fit so I was stressing out a lot.) I've been through a lot of moves (due to military, etc) and I've had a lot of different companies helping me move but I highly recommend these guys! They have honestly been the best team of movers I've encountered so far. They even took special care with my items even when I didn't care that much.
