Probably a 4.5 but I'm rounding up for benefit of the doubt. Came into town and took our student and roommate out to dinner. We waited a little late, so there was then a wait at Bow & Arrow, but it wasn't too long and we decided to get some drinks for the newly-21s and the more-than-double-21 who wasn't driving. Attempted to get a Snozzberry Daiquiri in addition to a couple Surf Riders, but they came back a minute later to say that it wasn't available. I can only think they may have run out of pama. We settled down on some patio furniture out front to wait and within minutes of getting our drinks our table was ready. Most of the table got pulled pork plates, but we also added a catfish dinner and a pulled pork sandwich. The mac and cheese was a hit, as the teen who got the catfish meal ended up adding another side of it on seeing the rest of the table's portions. The pulled pork sandwich was good, with very tender meat, but I gotta say the sesame seed bun was a little extra. I've never seen so many sesame seeds on one bun before. I know this place will be busy during football season. I did see recently that they had to suspend all take-out/call-in and delivery orders until they can maintain enough staff to do all of it to the level they expect of themselves. So if you have a little longer wait because they're only able to offer dine-in at the time, rest assured it's worth it, and they'll take care of you when you're seated. An interesting mix of barbecue and tex-mex food. They do not take reservations so we had a 45 minute wait. They have a cooler of different beers at the host stand to help your wait pass by! I highly recommend the raspberry flavor margarita! I had pulled pork, macaroni, and mashed potatoes. The pulled pork was phenomenal! Loved the dry rub and the bbq sauce. Unfortunately, the macaroni was cold and the mashed potatoes had white gravy on them, which made for a very off-putting color. Our service was very poor. Our server seemed very unorganized, but she was friendly and apologetic. Our food did not come with bbq sauce, one of my husband's sides were missing, and we ordered a second round of margaritas that never made it to us. It was 35 degrees out and the place was cold and seats of metal didn't help. Got crispy enchiladas. Huge portion. This was my first visit to Bow & Arrow. It was highly recommended and I see why as the food was great. It is an interesting menu, a bbq and Mexican fusion. The bbq is predominantly Texas style and the brisket was outstanding. I had the "King George" enchiladas and they were fantastic. The service was excellent, very friendly. However, this summer, I will get the brisket platter! I also had the "Deep End-Surf Rider". It is a very delicious drink. If you've ever wanted to eat barbecue at an upscale hunting-themed cafeteria, Bow & Arrow is the place! From lauded local chef David Bancroft (of Acre and James Beard nominations fame) and pitmaster Caleb Fischer comes Bow & Arrow, a Texas-style BBQ joint. It was packed on our visit, even though there was only about an hour left before closing. The menu lists out the meats and sides, and you have to build your own meal since there aren't any combos. Apparently bread and/or fresh tortillas come standard but they ran out. How can a BBQ place run out of cheap white bread??? Anyway, you select your meat[s] first, then go down the line and pick out your sides which come in small, medium, and large sizes. I did like how you could see your sides before choosing them. Smalls are around $3.50, mediums $6, and larges $10.50. I am saying around since there are variations in price. Bow & Arrow wants you to dine family-style and calls their system a "potluck." We just got water but fountain drinks come in reusable plastic Bow & Arrow branded cups. As for the smoked meats, I sampled the brisket lean ($8.50), brisket moist ($7.50), pork shoulder ($6), and beef back ribs ($13). Those prices are for small sizes. All were pretty good, though I found myself gravitating towards the brisket moist and pork shoulder. The sauces from the sauce bar were okay, and I preferred the Alabama white sauce and mustard sauce. The Texas red sauce didn't win any points with us actually. And regarding sides, the mac and cheese was splendid by being thick, cheesy, creamy, and smooth. My hands-down favorite side. The camp beans missed the mark for me. They were as though a can of beans were mixed with a can of tomato sauce. The potlikker greens were fine by me but nothing phenomenal. I had a bite of the tater tot casserole which seemed really appetizing, and I don't even like tater tots. You can grab to-go containers by the trash can. Parking in the private lot was unproblematic. All of the employees were super nice and helpful. There were a few picnic benches out front for when the weather's pleasant. The building is new and is bright and clean. To go with the theme of Bow & Arrow, you can even play a shooting video game if you want. read more
