Good southern food but I wouldn't call it soul food. Soul food is known for the flavor. My mac and cheese and field peas were just ok. The field peas had no seasoning at all. Overall it was good after adding some salt and pepper.

Home cooking is so hard to find anymore...used to have access to various cafeteria-style restaurants but this food seems to have largely disappeared, but fortunately the owners of Pannie-George's didn't get the memo! After observing several people getting the fried chicken and mac and cheese many of them doubling up on the mac and cheese I figured that this must have been the order to make...groupthink was accurate here! And for dessert sweet potato pie with just the right amount of spice!

Only place I've ever been that has actual kool-aid. And no it's not red or purple. It's a special blend of delicious flavors that's secret!

This was the absolute best find during my visit to Alabama. It was my last full day and I refused to leave the south without having some real soul food. I found this restaurant on Yelp and the pics looked so good. It's easy to find in a shopping plaza right off the freeway with plenty of parking. We tried to enter the front door but the line was so long it reached the back door. We started to leave instead of waiting in line but the wait was definitely worth it. The line doesn't move super fast but they are constantly replenishing the food and the lady serving the food Lorine is so sweet. She reminded me of my grandma. You can always call in your order and not wait in line, but the menu is constantly changing. The day we went they had baked and fried chicken and beef tips over rice as the meats. The sides to choose from were pole beans, okra, candied yams, macaroni and cheese, black eyed peas, mashed potatoes. Everything looked so good it was difficult to choose. I got baked chicken, pole beans, and macaroni and cheese. Everything was delicious just like grandma made it and the portions are generous. My hubby had baked chicken, okra, macaroni and cheese, and candied yams. He ate every bit in one sitting. All of this food plus bread and a drink was only like $27. I could eat there everyday. Next time I'm in Alabama this will be my first meal!

This place is not exactly five stars when it comes to customer service. There were only two other customers in the restaurant so I guess this is the norm. Being this is my first time here, I looked over the menu and decided I wanted a veggie plate but after I walked to the display station to check out their selections, I changed my mind. The food appeared to have been sitting in the pans all day and most pans were empty. My husband decided he would still give them a try so I purchased a plate for him and sampled a few bites. The field peas and the potato salad are very good. The green beans were ok. I don't eat fish but my husband said it was ok but It would have been better had it been freshly cooked. If you plan on trying their food, try to go when the food is freshly prepared, lunch time. I might give them another try the next time I am in town visiting my in laws.

Wonderful! So happy we made the quick stop to eat here while traveling. Best homemade meal I've had in a long time.

Freshly fried chicken, yams, collard greens, creamed corn, cornbread, and lemon pie.

I started off with the Moon Over Madagascar, and let me tell you--if this drink had a fan club, I'd be president. The black tea and vanilla combo sounded like a weird dare at first, but it ended up being shockingly amazing. Whoever came up with that mix deserves a bonus and maybe a parade. Now, let's talk about the shrimp and grits, because these were not just "good." These were "call your mama and tell her you've tasted greatness" good. The chef is from South Carolina, and you can taste every bit of Lowcountry pride in that bowl. Perfectly cooked grits? Check. Pile of blackened shrimp? Double check. A sauce that made me rethink my entire life? Oh yeah. If they sold that sauce by the gallon, I'd be bankrupt but extremely happy. Erica, our waitress, was an absolute rockstar. Super helpful, incredibly informative, and somehow managed to keep the perfect balance of friendly and professional--even on the Sunday after the Iron Bowl, when half of Auburn is stress-eating. The place was spotless too, which is impressive considering the emotional damage that game causes every year. Bottom line: The Hound is a must-visit. Come hungry, order boldly, and thank me later.

Fried green tomatoes- wasn't the biggest fan of pimento cheese, but if that's your thing I'm sure it would have been delicious. I had the strawberry / spinach salad. It was decent but a little too much dressing on parts and a bit dry in others. The biscuits were a star of the other meal. I believe it effected some of the flavors of foods that were boiled in it, too. Gnocchi had some of the same off flavor. In addition, some of the flavors just feel way out of whack for totally unrelated reasons. Sauce that the duck came in was thin and overwhelmed by honey. The risotto it was served with seems like it should be rich and homey. But despite a crazy amount of added dairy still tasted thin and flat. Can't tell you why. Wonky seasoning? None of the dishes reflected any familiarity with acid to lighten or balance a dish. Fried green tomatoes were pretty mid despite a quality remoulade and a bunch of pimento cheese. Ingredients seem like they're decent quality. Desserts are legitimately top notch. Everyone recommends the peanut butter pie. And it is excellent, though pretty obviously not long out of the freezer. The affogato Is legitimately fantastic. And I'm not even talking about the pageantry of dumping the espresso on the salt ice cream. The combo is legitimately satisfying, like a well-rounded creamy candy. The plates are funky and cool and beautiful. The staff all seem like they're 19, attractive, and gregarious.

We came Valentine's Day weekend from Columbus, GA after attending mass. He really wanted to take me here and I'm so glad he did. We had the bread and butter which was to die for! I think they gave us too much butter over bread ratio, but l'm not complaining haha. So warm, soft, fluffy and delish the bread was. I don't think we talked much when we had our wagyu steak main course cause it was so good, we couldn't say a word to each other. The pepper sauce with the perfectly cooked medium rare steak (which came cut in two pieces, which is a really genius move to serve steak by the way), with white asparagus, caramelized onion, rose petals, and just pure deliciousness. Literally chef's kiss. We also couldn't make up our mind about desserts cause they had a Valentine's dessert menu and the couple sitting next to us also recommended the cookies and milk. Yeah- I'm really lucky and very spoiled. Definitely hit a sugar high, but absolutely worth it. Servers and greeters were also all so kind and attentive. Let me start by saying the building is beautiful and the atmosphere feels like a nice restaurant. Also, the cocktail menu was definitely curated by someone who knows what they are doing. The appetizer Barrotta cheese was the best part of the evening. With that being said, the entrees were lackluster and small. Our food came out lukewarm at best and honestly seemed like not a lot of thought went into them. I know that this restaurant is supposed to be upscale, but I don't think I should pay 55$ per persons meal and still leave hungry. Also, the staff needs training. The whole time it felt like they were concerned with fast turn over and nothing else. Part of upscale dining is that the price of food and quality of service is more important than turn over time. Generally speaking I will not be back to eat here again.

First, our server introduced herself and explained the buffet menu, which I appreciate. She was very attentive, and I think she refilled my drink a total of three times during my meal. The food options at the buffet were great. The biscuit bar offering sausage gravy, tomato gravy, and shrimp étouffée as a topping was phenomenal. I sampled the étouffée and sausage gravy, and the homemade biscuits all were really good. On the second morning that I went down for breakfast, not nearly as good of an experience. The young lady who is our server, just didn't seem like she wanted to be there, polar opposite from the previous day. Our table wasn't stocked with sugar only had a pepper shaker had to ask for both. Somehow the same hot gravy that I had enjoyed the day before were luke warm some reason, maybe just caught it at a bad time. I didn't have more fruit options out on morning too, which I did appreciate as well. I think the poor service just soured the experience. The third morning I went down for breakfast, there was a long line waiting to be seated. And the person that appeared to be seating people as the hostess, was the same server from the day before. I came back about 30 minutes later, and there was still a line so I decided to skip breakfast. I will definitely give this one another shot, when we return to Auburn for leisure based on that first Days experience and re-rate if warranted.

Tucked into Auburn's dining scene with an upscale-casual pub charm, it's become our daughter's favorite spot to "take us" when we visit--which tells you everything you need to know. After a semester fueled by ramen and an alarming quantity of Chick-fil-A, she heads straight for the spicy penne crowned with perfectly cooked filet medallions. A wise choice. They don't take reservations, and yes, you may linger outside awhile on a busy night. Stay. It's worth it. For those of us with Gulf Coast roots, the menu reads like a love letter: blackened catfish done right, crispy crawfish tails, and cheese-laced grits that feel like a warm welcome home. The fried green tomatoes are a standout--golden, crisp, topped with grilled shrimp, and finished with a balsamic glaze that somehow works beautifully, even if it strays from tradition. The shrimp and grits, the catfish, the pasta--all hits. Cheesecake for dessert, especially if you're loyal to a graham cracker crust, is non-negotiable.
