Do NOT miss Thelma's! The food is outstanding and our server, Crystal, made us feel like we were right at home!

Is there a place where I can give 10 stars? Not kidding. On our way to PCB we have passed Thelmas Kitchen for years. This year on our way down Hubby said we're stopping there on the way home. Cool. We almost missed it if not for the red light. Thank you red light. I'll talk about the food in a minute. Let's talk about Ms. Krystal and the ladies taking care of you. They were the most friendly beautiful women ever. They truly represented Thelmas. Now the food. I'm not a bbq person. Don't ask me why I ordered ribs. Must have been the Lord. The smoke on them ribs was heavenly. The chicken was fried so perfect. Hubby drank the juice from the collards. Mac and cheese so darn good. Even the Coca-Cola and Arnold Palmer were perfect. Its buffet style. A meat two sides cornbread muffin and drink. Around $16. So worth it. Go people. Support this place. Good parking. A full parking lot tells you a lot. See yall next year.

Krystle was a great waitress. From the time we walked in, she greeted us. She explained the Thelma's experience to my family (first time patrons) and made sure were seated and had everything we needed (drinks and cutlery). She checked on us multiple times. The owner Nathaniel was there and talked to my boys who had big questions about the University of Miami gear in Auburn and Alabama country. This place is cafeteria style and family friendly. There's an area for larger groups, but you can seat yourself. We meet the chef Davelma. All the food was good. My youngest ate his ribs down to the bone - cleaned the bone. My middle son also thought the ribs were delicious. Everyone else said the same. A few to go plates were taken home. We definitely were full.

We're driving through heading back to FL and we are SO glad we chose Thelma's!! The ribs and greens were 10/10 and our server was so kind and took well care of us.

Oh my goodness! Well this is the place to be on Eufala! Crystal welcomes you in immediately, explains the one meat / 2 sides deal and you are off - picking what might be one of the best home-cooked meals you've ever had. This is our new stop in Eufala. We won't ever drive by it again. It's on the main drag 43 Don't miss it!

I'd give it 10 stars if I could! The pictures here don't do it justice. I was too busy eating and my husband snapped these. Each plate comes with a meat and two sides. Or you can split the meat (chicken, ribs, catfish, pork chops). They also had Ox Tail but not sure if you can do the split meat on that. Now, about the food & staff. SUPERB! The best good old fashioned soul food you can find! We were passing thru on our way home to Florida. This will forever be a stop we make if we pass thru Alabama. Every single thing we tried was delicious. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was clean, inviting, buffet style service. We finished our chicken meals and wanted to try the ribs and another side. So my husband got back in the queue for another plate! Seriously, do yourself and your stomach a favor and eat here! Thank you Ms Thelma for this place existing! Wow!

Ribs, collards, Mac n' cheese and cornbread - I took the bite out of it!

Delicious- all of it- everything! Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, Lima beans, ribs, collards and Mac and cheese. Only $33!! 2 x meats and 2 sides with cornbread and drink is included. Took it to go. Everybody was pleasant and helpful.

From the hostess, chef, kitchen staff and crew; everyone truly showed southern hospitality from their personalities and thru food! The restaurant is cafeteria style - my friend and I ordered ribs and fried chicken as our main entrees. Many choices of sides including collard green, Mac n cheese, squash, potatoes, various beans, corns etc. The flavors are on point! The fried chicken and fried catfish are delicious and crispy, we wish we had more stomach space to try one of each item plus dessert! The business also offers catering service and hosts special events. This is definitely a restaurant that I would return to when I am in the area again!

Tasty Lunch at Thelma's Kitchen My wife and I decided to give this place a try on a Saturday just after noon. It was our first time to eat here and we didn't know what to expect. Crystal greeted us with a friendly welcome just after we entered the door and asked us if it was our first time there. Upon finding out we were new customers, she took the time to give us a quick rundown of the process. The restaurant offered cafeteria-style menu and service. For lunch, there were five meats and a multitude of sides to choose from. The fixed price included a meat, two sides, a roll or cornbread, and beverage. The meat choice could be split between two meats, too. I had the catfish and ribs, along with collard greens and fried okra. My wife chose the fried chicken and catfish with okra and Mac-n-cheese. Both of us chose the corn bread. The okra tray was almost out, so we asked for some extra-crispy and the server was happy to oblige with some freshly prepared piping hot okra. The catfish, ribs, and chicken were excellent. The sides were tasty, too. The only thing that could have been a bit better would have been that the cornbread could have been warmed. Our server, Crystal, did a fantastic job of checking in on us frequently, and making our visit a pleasant one. This friendly spot, with a welcoming atmosphere and tasty home-cooking is definitely worth the visit.

Restaurant, and my new favorite shirt!

The service here is a little weird and jarring at first. I hadn't gone more than 10 feet through…read morethe door when I was asked "What'll you have to drink?" You just have to know the procedure, but it wasn't only me, a Northerner whose brain hadn't yet fully recalibrated for the local accent. Locals were confused too. Procedure is this: tell them your drink preference (I had water), pick up a tray, put it on the counter, pick out a main, three sides, a dessert, slide it down to the register, pay, and take it to your table. At that point do you begin eating? No! Remove your items from the tray and they come by and pick it up. Now begin! You may be thinking "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld but I assure you it didn't feel that way. Just the quirky way they run the place. The waitress did warm up after I was there a while, came over to ask where I was from, etc. And to try to convince me to come back for breakfast! This is cafeteria style, with everything prepared ahead of time and kept warm on steam trays. So how do they keep that fried chicken so crunchy and delicious? Perhaps the best I've ever had, the batter so crunchy you could probably hear me eating from another room, assertively peppery, the large leg and thigh pieces perfectly cooked and juicy. (White meat also available.) My sides were lima beans, turnip greens, and yams. The highlight was the yams: super sweet but not in a bad way, balanced by good seasonings. The beans were fine, a bit salty. The only disappointment were the turnip greens, too finely chopped and overcooked. The portion sizes were decent. Also included is corn bread. Two choices: baked or fried. Never heard of fried so I tried that. Interesting but a little chewy and not so much corn flavor; next time I'd get the baked. Finishing this rather large lunch was a challenge for me but I managed, while taking in the local ambience. I saved the dessert for later. Dessert? Yes. I was also asked on ordering what I wanted for dessert. The only one that appealed was the red velvet cake (the others were a cobbler and bread pudding) so I got that. I assumed it was included but when I paid I saw it was not. $4; no big deal. It didn't look that good, a thin 1 inch slice tightly shrink wrapped on a paper plate. Looks were deceiving. The first time I actually liked red velvet cake, a light crumbly texture and cream cheese frosting that tasted of more than sugar. With the amount of frosting this tiny slice was quite filling and I'm glad it wasn't larger. All this for a little over $21. I think this was including tip but I'm not positive. Either way, great deal!

Just go, don't even question it, go. Best little diner, great food, amazing service, and fast!read more
