You know what? For a small-town Asian joint in a college town, this place isn't half bad. They…read morearen't afraid to use a clever title for their restaurant name despite its association with digestive issues (disclaimer: it didn't bother my typically finicky intestines at all). Serving up tasty cuisine that's much more authentic than those sketchy Chinese takeout places, their bao and dumpling game is strong! While it's impossible to find a menu online, and their website consists of an Instagram page, this is the way the younger generation gets their information. And it works. The pork belly bao is relatively comparable to what I've eaten in China, so props to the cooks at IB! Notice I'm not calling this dish "bao buns" like everyone else which is typical language in the states. That's actually redundant as bao in Chinese already implies a filled bun, literally translated as parcel or package. And there is no need to call it a "filled bun bun." Autocorrect is already on my case about that double wording! But I digress. Yes, if you're in Auburn, grab a tasty Asian snack here and you won't be disappointed.

In Auburn Alabama you have to break from the college circle to find a Southern Soul food spot…read more Southern & Savory is a local hit. I went on a Sunday just before the church let out. The line was long and moving. The service is of southern kitchen, expect someone screaming "next" at the cash register. The menu is at the front by the register, in chalk, so it gets updates throughout the day. While ordering you are informed which items are sold out. Seating is sparse and 1st Come 1st Serve. I ordered the chicken plate. The chicken was crispy, seasoned and juicy - Perfectly fried. All of the sides were good except the cornbread. Just skip tasting the cornbread it will ruin the meal. Overall, it's Southern Soul food; however seating and dynamic menu presents the most challenge in making it an enjoyable experience.

We lucked up on this spot.. ordered fried chicken, collard greens, lima beans, rice gravy, Mac and cheese.. The ambiance was quiet, which made it so easy for conversation. The restroom was pleasant, I never comment on that, but will start. But all in all things were enjoyable

Everything's served family-style (huge plates meant for sharing) which is exactly how I order for my family when we go. What you see on the menu is actually what you get, which is wild because most places don't even have photos of their real food. The quality is incredible and totally consistent. Staff is mostly college kids so it's hit or miss, but I've never had a bad experience yet. Only real gripe I have is the open kitchen gets a little smokey in the dining area. It fades quick, so it's not a dealbreaker or anything, but it's enough to drop a star in my opinion. Otherwise this place is solid--go hungry and grab something to share.
