Food is nothing to rave about, you can get better BBQ elsewhere in Auburn. This is a great bar vibe, though. They stop serving food around 8 and this turns into the "chill" college bar. Great place to go on a gameday. Drinks are classic Auburn prices. $5 pitcher of Budweiser. Can't beat it! P.S. Please nobody comment on my intelligence but I think the Trivia here is really hard.

Loved the baked beans, liked the pulled pork, and the potato salad was pretty good. Prices reasonable. No brisket??? They were doing their best to keep up on a football Saturday. We found the door of the women's restroom quite amusing.

Redneck nachos

Where will I go every time I visit auburn? Moes bbq. This is the best place to get good food and great vibes. The redneck nachos are one of my favorite foods and it's a great place to watch a game or have a night out- after 8 it turns into a bar

Went here because all other restaurants had too long of a wait. Place is a dibe, but fun. Kids love to go there and love the food and $5 pitchers. I had the turkey and two sides I had Green beings and ordered the skillet corn. But the order is ready we picked it up they were out of skillet corn so I got coleslaw. Because it was OK. My son at the nachos as it's his go to and love them. We also have a fried pickles, they were delicious!

Supposed to be "pulled" chicken

One star is too generous for this place. My family had absolutely the worst experience we've had in a restaurant in many years. Now to be fair, it was parents weekend in Auburn so we expected lunch at any restaurant might take a little longer than usual. We placed our order at the counter (as all patrons do) and received our ticket with the ticket number on it..ticket number 41. When we sat down we heard of the loudspeaker they called ticket number 21 or 22. Well, we were number 41 so I knew it might be a few minutes. Let's just say 50 minutes later, they were just on ticket 34-35. Yes that only turning about 14 tickets in nearly an hour. BTW, my daughter arrived about 15 minutes behind us so we had to place her order when she got there and her ticket number was 61. Many of you probably see where I'm going here, they're printing a lot of tickets, taking orders, but not a lot of progress coming out of the kitchen. I proceeded to go speak with the person at the cash register and kindly asked for the manager. I was approached by one lady who absolutely seemed annoyed that I was even questioning why it was taking so long and then another guy came over and presented himself as the manager but he was visibly annoyed as well. He simply said we're busy and turned around and walked off. Funny, before saying anything to anyone I simply walked up and observed kitchen, to be fair. One guy was too busy watching the game on TV facing kitchen and other guys were working at snail pace. One was the "manager". When I spoke with him, I shared my observations of the kitchen and particularly the one guy watching the game and he just did not care! Now don't get me wrong, we eat out all the time and are completely sympathetic to labor issues many restaurants are facing. Also, I'm somewhat familiar with restaurant business, particularly BBQ. We eat at every BBQ restaurant in almost ever town we go to.. I also smoke a lot of meat myself......this is definitely a 1 star place!!! An hour later we finally got our food on ticket 41, "to go" at this point because we had to be somewhere. My daughter (ticket 61) we just left, It wasn't worth going back to the counter and asking if we could get her barbecue sandwich to go with ours after our experience with the so-called "manager". She went to down street to get a sub instead. On top of this, this is what our food looked like when we got to car. Hopefully photos came through. BBQ was very mediocre, the bread was bone dry and burnt, beans were actually good. The chicken looked disgusting!!! It was supposed to be pulled chicken. Fed that to dogs. As you've read in other reviews, these people simply don't care about your business!!! Period. I'm actually being nice about how we felt we were treated by staff. I normally wouldn't write such a negative review but after seeing how this staff handled our situation yesterday, figured I'd try and save someone else having to go through this. To be honest, I can usually get over so-so food if we receive good service but when you can't perform on either level....it's just bad! Good opportunity for someone to open a good BBQ place downtown to serve good food and friendly service..,if I lived anywhere close I would.

The counter where you order.

We enjoyed Moe's one Sunday afternoon. The establishment is very laid back (in a good way) and the food is very good. We ordered the pulled pork platter, a pulled pork sandwich, the catfish platter, and the smoked turkey platter. Between the four of us we tried their baked beans, potato salad, mac & cheese, marinated Cole slaw, and banana pudding. All were all great. Three major stands out! Their corn bread (it looks like a piece of Texas toast in the picture) is a thick cut slab, coated with a layer of butter and honey, and then toasted on a griddle. And if that's not enough, while the outside is sweet and crispy, the inside is soft and riddled with bits of tasty jalapeños. The smoked turkey was succulent and the marinated cole slaw with pickled fresh jalapeños is the perfect combination of tangy/spicy/sweet! This cool little restaurant is nestled in the heart of Auburn country so be prepared to support the Tigers while you eat! Things to know: they do not have brisket on the menu (my favorite); they do not have fried okra (another favorite of mine); and surprisingly they do not have fries on the menu, either, but you can request them if they are not out.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well in the case of my week long visit to Auburn and frequent stops at Moe's Original BBQ I'm not insane at all. I not only went to Moe's several times, but I got the same thing over and over again and fully expected the most delicious wings I have ever had in my life. It was the wings that won me over in a big way. I assure you that I am quite sane, but admit I did develop an addiction during my time in Auburn. Let's start with my first introduction to Moe's in downtown Auburn. I found street parking not far from the restaurant around 5 PM. I had heard from word of mouth and my handy Yelp app that this was the place for me to get great barbeque. I love great barbeque and seek it out in any city I visit. I was greeted by a couple of armed goon's at the door. Just kidding, there were two young Men serving as security that informed me there was a wing special going on until 9 PM, but probably no seating. The place was a complete mob scene and just plain crazy. No seating, standing room only and it just seemed like utter chaos. I learned it was World Cup on the TV with USA playing and understood what was up. I was brave enough to work my way through all of the college kids and was fortunate enough to find a seat at the bar. I had no expectations of anything resembling good service, but I thought the atmosphere was worth checking out and I really wanted to try the food. I was not at the bar a moment before a female bartender asked me what I would like to drink. Granted there was a lot of help behind the bar, but still this was impressive. The vibe was electric with a jammed pack crowd that would have constant outburst and screams as the action of the game played out. The young crowd was well behaved and enjoying food, drink, the company of friends and of course the many TV around the dining room. I loved the atmosphere of the crowd, but the decor had a Greenwich Village feel with it's artsy walls. A real brick accent wall on the booth side is what I will remember the most. The wall is painted with funky characters and overlapping graffiti everywhere. Think of eating inside of an artist barn, strange but that's all I got. There is that much wood every where you look. From being at Auburn the week I realized that the pitchers of beer are dirt cheap, I mean like $5.99 for a pitcher of Blue Moon which is basically giving it away in my book. However, I did just settle on getting one draft and asked what the recommendation would be for a first timer. She flat out said the wings are a must and get a combo of mac n' cheese, moose desert w/ side of bread. I said go for it and was up for anything. My beer was in front of me in seconds along with a water which I did not ask for. Any waitress with her salt knows to bring water even if not asked for... which I usually do, but forgot. This gal was on top of it and friendly as heck. The food was out in ten minutes which I thought could not be true and questioned if it was even my order, but indeed it was. I wasted no time and dug right into the wings and found them to be delicious. Plenty of meat, not greasy, a slight toughness and crunch, I was totally stoked to continue eating right through the basket. But how could these wings get even better... with two dipping sauces that's how. So, I first tried the red sauce and found it spicy and not to my personal taste. The second sauce was lite, mayo base and a marriage made in heaven for me. The mac n' cheese was just okay, not really a fan. The moose desert had a nice deep chocolate flavor, but nothing spectacular. The bartender checked back with me several times to see how I was doing, provided water refills and extra napkins. In general she had full command of her customers every need. I found her so attentive to not only me, but others. The place was loud with World Cup Cheering, so crowded by now you literally could not move. However, I was loving the fact I was in the middle of this spectacle and enjoying Moe's scrumptious wings. I ended up going back no less than three times in five days just for wings and was quite lucid I assure you. Forget about the sides and other entrees I had a serious crush on their wings! Each time I went in the place it had a big lively crowd which is always a great sign. I felt the service was also on par each time. For as busy as they were the place was kept pretty clean too. I have issue with the Men's restroom and a broken mirror which is a safety hazard as this is a place for kids earlier in the evening. Great atmosphere, awesome vibe, terrific service, incredible deals on pitcher beer and awesome wings. That is what kept me coming back anyway.

Bland, dry bbq. Sigh. The sides were good but the star of the show was regrettable.

I don't plan to need a "last meal," but if I did, this would be it. The rice, beans, and that butter are all 10/10.

The hostess quoted us a 40-45min wait, but we were pleasantly surprised it was only about half that. He definitely didn't want to be there and his performance showed that. He was no help when we asked about menu items-- we got nothing more than a shrug and a mumbled 'I don't know'. He was slow to do anything and our beer was barely cold when it made it to the table after letting it sit at the bar for too long. We waited for 40min for our dinner. Even a Friday night in a busy college town shouldn't equal that. Food was good when we finally got it. Not worth the long wait, but decent. Disappointing visit...but, I'll probably go back when it's hopefully less busy and attempt a better experience.

The risotto it was served with seems like it should be rich and homey. But despite a crazy amount of added dairy still tasted thin and flat. Can't tell you why. Wonky seasoning? None of the dishes reflected any familiarity with acid to lighten or balance a dish. Fried green tomatoes were pretty mid despite a quality remoulade and a bunch of pimento cheese. Garrett suggested Amsterdam for lunch. Located near the Auburn campus, Amsterdam is one of more well known eateries off campus. Students may not have eaten at Amsterdam, but most can point you in the right direction. I've been tricked by appearances before but Amsterdam is in a category of its own. There's a front and a back part of the building. But I didn't know that until we were led to our table in the back. The front part is a typical "smallish" restaurant with tight booths and tables. The decorations of impressionist painters adorn the walls giving the front dining room a warm inviting feel. When we were led to our table, I thought I was being led to the restrooms. We actually went past the restrooms down a small flight of stairs and into another large room. This beautiful back room was oozing the "hidden wine cellar" vibe throughout. There were tables and chairs in the center with smaller tables and chairs lining one wall and booths on another. Then there's a large full service bar lining the 3rd wall and a workstation on the 4th wall. The ceiling with hanging panels of wood moved the light beautifully and impressed me. There was also a large floor to ceiling wine rack next to our 4 top. Gary tried their Omelet. Three eggs served with conecuh sausage, bacon, onions, peppers, cheddar cheese, and potatoes. With the sourdough toast, the plating was immaculate. I didn't get to taste it, but Gary didn't have any deiicions/ Garrett opted for their Brunch special: Apple & Pecan Freeman toast. When it arrived to our table, we immediately noticed the large slices of French toast. As promised, the French toast was topped with slices of peaches and apples and butter brown sugar with white powder sugar as well. Again I didn't get to taste, but I savored it with my eye. Paul and I tried the Amsterdam Burger. He got some fries as his side, but I upgraded my side to a beautifully plated side salad. With the added fried egg, my patty was grilled to a perfect medium with just a hint of pink. Stacked with it was some lettuce, caramelized onions, applewood bacon, spicy pickles, tomato and their traditional burger sauce all squeezed together between 2 bun halves, it has to be stabbed with a long food pick to hold it together. It was juicy, tasty and just Yom Yom Yom Yom. Our server was attentive and checked on us frequently. Other notable menu items include fried brussels, lobster egg rolls, rum salmon, breakfast croissant, snickerdoodle pancakes, steak & eggs, egg white omelet and shrimp & grits. I was told their Crab Cake & Avocado is to die for. Meal prices are on the high end but Amsterdam understands how to elevate Southern comfort food.
