I came here for the breakfast buffet during my three nights stay. The first morning that I came down for breakfast I had an absolutely amazing experience. First, our server introduced herself and explained the buffet menu, which I appreciate. She was very attentive, and I think she refilled my drink a total of three times during my meal. The food options at the buffet were great. The biscuit bar offering sausage gravy, tomato gravy, and shrimp étouffée as a topping was phenomenal. I sampled the étouffée and sausage gravy, and the homemade biscuits all were really good. On the second morning that I went down for breakfast, not nearly as good of an experience. The young lady who is our server, just didn't seem like she wanted to be there, polar opposite from the previous day. Our table wasn't stocked with sugar only had a pepper shaker had to ask for both. Somehow the same hot gravy that I had enjoyed the day before were luke warm some reason, maybe just caught it at a bad time. I didn't have more fruit options out on morning too, which I did appreciate as well. I think the poor service just soured the experience. The third morning I went down for breakfast, there was a long line waiting to be seated. And the person that appeared to be seating people as the hostess, was the same server from the day before. I came back about 30 minutes later, and there was still a line so I decided to skip breakfast. I will definitely give this one another shot, when we return to Auburn for leisure based on that first Days experience and re-rate if warranted. read more

It was 7:30 on a Thursday evening. There were 6 of us staying at the resort and didn't want to drive to get dinner. There were 2 tables of customers in the restaurant. When we asked to be seated for dinner, they asked if we had a reservation which we didn't at the time. The waitress/hostess mentioned that we needed a reservation since they were about to get really busy. I made a quick reservation on OpenTable for 7:45 pm. We were then told it would take at least another 15 minutes to get the table ready for us. At that point, 2 dropped out so now it was only 4 of us. One of the managers finally came over asking why we were all standing around. We explained the waitress didn't appear to want to serve us. We were then quickly seated. The manager became our waitress and did a great job with food and beverage suggestions. My friends ordered the catch of the day red snapper while I ordered the pork chop that was also recommended. Served with vegetables and gnocci, it was very tasty, but also quite pricey. The picture shows how crowded the restaurant was that we needed a reservation. The pork chop was a bit dry, but had a tasty glaze on top. Probably not worth $40 though. What was frustrating was that we had no other dinner options available. The lounge area was closed. We did see folks ordering pizza delivery. That will be the option next time. read more

We had a great family dinner during a recent stay to the resort. The service was super friendly (as was everyone at the resort). A friendly manager we kept seeing actually brought use a complementary breadboard. Very nice! Steaks were ordered and enjoyed by all. Everyone got a variety of cuts, prepared differently, but they received thumbs up by all. The ambiance is nice, but typical of a Marriott resort as the dining room service breakfast and lunch. read more

Decent food! Our server, Skylar was great. The restaurant is on the first floor of the resort. We had breakfast 3 days in a row. The buffet was solid, some of the pastries were a big stale but otherwise it was great. Plenty of vegetarian options. read more

Food was fantastic indoors. Service was great indoors. We couldn't have had a better experience. The bartender outdoors was not great. We waited a long time for her to serve other customers very slowly (no problem, we weren't in a hurry and enjoyed the laid back environment). She wasn't even acknowledging us though there were only about 5 people there. But right when it was our turn (finally) a gentleman (she knew) walked up to the bar and ordered a drink right in front of us. So then I wondered if we were in the wrong space so I asked her if we were waiting in the right area and she finally looked at me and said yes why? All 4 of us were completely baffled. Then the dude realized he jumped in front of us and let us be taken care of first. But then as we finished up our orders she apologized to HIM. It was so weird. The outdoors is amazing however. We arrived on time for dinner and were told the bar was opened for dinner service. The place looks nice. The menu was a lunch menu--only sandwiches and flatbreads. They were out of the brisket which my husband wanted. So he ordered the Mahi Sandwich with sweet potato fries. They were out of the fries so he opted for a side salad. I ordered the classic flatbread. His sandwich was super salty and very spicy. So much so he couldn't finish it. When our server heard she offered us a free dessert. We ordered the fruit crumble. He told her he had a dairy allergy, but the dessert came Topped with vanilla ice cream. She apologized. One bite of the crumble and we both thought it tasted like a frozen, stale Sara Lee dessert. Very disappointing. The only reason they get a two star is for the service--she was great. The atmosphere was great. The food not worth the price. read more

We had reservations for a larger party. We were not informed until we arrived that our tables were split and we would be sitting separately. Our waiter was nice and fast to get our first round of drinks. I had an espresso martini and it was really good and frothy. Our service was very, very slow, even though we were 1 of 2 parties in the restaurant. They were out of salmon, so I settled for the chicken. It was good, but the brussel sprouts weren't cooked enough for my taste. I ordered a second espresso martini and it looked nothing like the first one. It was black, no froth, and tasted like liquor. The waiter was understanding about it and brought me a new one. I was not super impressed with my experience and am not sure I will be back. read more

We are here at the resort so we went to the breakfast buffet (25.99). It wasn't good for the price. The conenuch ? sausage was over cooked. I honestly had to spit it out bc it was so chewy and could not swallow it. The cinnamon rolls were burnt, the bacon was not crisp. I did order the pancakes and they were good but I mean I could make those. Also the buffet eggs look like the powder eggs so I ordered some and they were good. Coffee was good and so was service. Oh and the biscuits and gravy were like something you would get at a free hotel breakfast buffet. I honestly wouldn't waste money on this breakfast if I wasn't staying here. We are staying at the resort so we thought we'd stay and eat dinner here. The food was reasonably good though shrimp and grits should have had the tails removed on the shrimp. Service was abysmal. Three tables of people. Two servers and a hostess and service was so slow. We ordered two appetizers and had to ask for plates for them and didn't get them until we had already eaten the appetizers. I asked to split an entree and the menu indicates a split entree fee so I expected the kitchen to do the splitting but they brought me an empty plate with the order. For the price, I expect service to be on point. Really disappointing that this is essentially the only option for an otherwise amazing resort. read more

My husband and I wanted to try a new restaurant for a special date night. Southern Oak turned out to be a place we will definitely visit again. We started with the delicious deviled eggs with bacon and candied pecans. I had a perfectly cooked filet and my husband enjoyed the swordfish. We had a view of the sunset and an excellent server that attended to our every wish. We look forward to visiting soon and also trying out the cooking classes offered on the fourth Friday of each month. read more
