Just so happened to be driving by this place and in need of dinner so decided to give it a try. Upon walking in was greeted and seated immediately. This place has a cool old time feel with wood floors and such. The staff were all very friendly and you could see a lot of people here knew each other. The menu is very simple but with some great classics. I got the country fried steak which came with two sides. I opted for the mashed potatoes and green beans. It also came with a slice of cornbread or Texas toast. I went with the corn bread. The country fried steak was delicious. Cooked perfectly. Nice and crispy and not greasy tasting. The mashed potatoes and gravy were also very good. The green beans surprised me. They were seasoned in something couldn't tell but they were fantastic. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the cornbread. It was not typical cornbread and wasn't a fan. Other than that it was a great meal and I highly recommend. read more

Rating: 4.5 Everything you want in a locally owned country-style restaurant: great food, large portions, friendly staff. Second time here and it did not disappoint. Brought a friend and she loved it. Had hamburger steak both times (very good). Catfish (excellent--large portion--don't get two pieces unless you're really hungry). Meatloaf (very good). Slaw was some of the best out 90 year old guest has ever had. Green beans and squash with onions was memorable. Collards were a little on the vinegar side four our tastes but feel like most will enjoy. Cornbread is solid. Mashed potatoes met expectations. Country friend steak to go was "real country cooking and among the best" our guest has had. Southern Fried Chicken sandwich to go was very good according to our other guest. Pros: large dining room, great food, big portions, friendly staff, locally owned, menu variety, daily specials updated on Facebook page, quick service for dine in. Cons: off the beaten path, parking lot not paved, handicapped access but ramp/stairs are steep (be careful on both), ambiance (plastic tables), slower service (take out). No real butter for cornbread or potatoes (liquid goop--barely passable). In short, this is a short drive from Valley, Auburn, and Opelika and it's 100% worth it. Daily specials are priced right and the chicken tenders look like they are 1/2 to a whole breast each. Highly recommended. read more

The Front Porch in Cusseta, AL is an amazing restaurant. When you enter, you feel right at home as if you are stepping into your grandmother's house for lunch. We went during the holidays and it felt like we were in a Christmas Hallmark movie set in a small town. The staff was friendly and attentive. This is off the beaten path and a local hang out that was a big hit for us. The cornbread was good as were the black eyed peas, collards, mashed potatoes. We tried the open face roast beef and gravy which was a special and not in the menu, but delicious. We had cherry pie and ice cream for dessert which did not disappoint. The menu has catfish, burgers, hamburger steak and the sides are mostly traditional southern faves with daily specials on the board. One of the owners, Anita stopped by our table to welcome us and came back to check on us a couple of times. Our waitress , Carol kept the tea refills coming and checked on us frequently. IYou'll not find better food than at The Front Porch. The people there are very friendly. You'll always see people you know there and can carry on a visit until the food comes, then all is quiet. Homemade dessert to die for. Treat yourself and give them a try. Parking is a challenge sometimes, but look around and you'll find a place to park. read more

Server was very friendly and helpful no complaints with that. But it took about 45 minutes to get food for me and my daughter. My 24.99 steak medium well was actually very well done and her mini corn dogs was burnt. I'll give it some time and try again later. read more

Ordered for pickup from there. Tried ordering fried pickles--didn't have any at the time--ordered whole catfish--didn't have any --saw the picture of their club sandwich which they post as serving there. The good old club sandwich that they cut and hold with toothpicks. Well, got it home and there was an ordinary turkey ham and cheese sandwich. I could have done that at home. Called and asked what happened. I was asked--did it have turkey? Did it have ham and cheese?? Yes, well she said that is a club sandwich. And I ordered a large salad and it had some strange greens--not spinach or any kind of lettuce--just hard stemmed something. Don't be deceived by their pictures of their food. Was looking for a good place for food since I am handicapped and don't cook much anymore. Won't be going there or ordering from there again read more

The Front Porch was awesome. I had the grilled blackened tenders with mashed potatoes and field peas. The tenders were moist and hot when they came out. Didn't event really need a dipping sauce for them. The mashed potatoes were superb. This place is a gem in the country. I will definitely be back. read more
