    Salmon salad
    Alex P.

Being in a college town and going to a dinner restaurant is a slightly odd experience. When the most popular local meal is a pizza slice left on the coffee table after a prior night's party, it's natural to some skepticism regarding the town's place in a world of finer dining. Hamilton's is generally not the kind of place where college students go. As a matter of fact, it would not an unreasonable bet to say that the majority of them will not step into Hamilton's a single time during their entire education journey. Some lucky students might be able to score Hamilton's when parents are in town and footing the bill. Otherwise, it's just professors and graduates. The pork tenderloin at Hamilton's is incredibly delicate and if it isn't already, it fully deserves to be the signature dish. Juicy, flavorful and peppered just enough. Salmon salad is solid as well. The food complements appropriately to the old school design and wooding paneling of the place, with a menu focused on traditional American kitchen. The staff are mostly college students. Some decent wines are present on the list as well, so if parents are paying, go for the Cakebread bottle. This is good, quality, all American food.

Fresh Catch of the Day with Shrimp and Wild Rice

The staff down at the hotel recommended Hamilton's and I'm so glad I was able to stop by. On a Monday night, it was very packed, so I suggest you make a reservation. Since it was so packed, there were no available tables available and the wait was going to be super long, but I was lucky enough to find seat at the bar. I was immediately greeted by the bartender who was very slammed. I felt bad for her because it was so busy, but she handled everything like a pro! I decided to order a side salad and the fresh catch of the day, which was Cod and it came with shrimp and wild rice. Everything was very delicious. The side salad was such a nice helping that I pretty much got full off of just that. I was able to try the Cod and shrimp. It was good too. The fish was definitely fresh, but seasoned very well and the jumbo shrimp was buttery and tender. I also noticed that Hamilton's also had live music, which was an added bonus. All in all, great visit to Hamilton's. Definitely recommend!

Saturday lunch. Food was ok. The best thing we ordered was the bang bang shrimp and the fried green tomato appetizer Service was great. As well was the ambiance. Salmon and chicken was a little over cooked. However, will return to give another try when in the area.

I forgot to take photos but oh my goodness our meal was so good! We got a blackened salmon over salad, lobster bisque, seared ahi, and creme brûlée for dessert. SO GOOD. Wouldn't expect any less from here honestly.

Fried green tomatoes- wasn't the biggest fan of pimento cheese, but if that's your thing I'm sure it would have been delicious. I had the strawberry / spinach salad. It was decent but a little too much dressing on parts and a bit dry in others. The biscuits were a star of the other meal. Sadly, no lattes... the only other bummer was that the waiter forgot my cocktail. He apologized when I asked for it... I know accidents happen

I believe it effected some of the flavors of foods that were boiled in it, too. Gnocchi had some of the same off flavor. In addition, some of the flavors just feel way out of whack for totally unrelated reasons. Sauce that the duck came in was thin and overwhelmed by honey. The risotto it was served with seems like it should be rich and homey. But despite a crazy amount of added dairy still tasted thin and flat. Can't tell you why. Wonky seasoning? None of the dishes reflected any familiarity with acid to lighten or balance a dish. Fried green tomatoes were pretty mid despite a quality remoulade and a bunch of pimento cheese. Ingredients seem like they're decent quality. Desserts are legitimately top notch. Everyone recommends the peanut butter pie. And it is excellent, though pretty obviously not long out of the freezer. The affogato Is legitimately fantastic. And I'm not even talking about the pageantry of dumping the espresso on the salt ice cream. The combo is legitimately satisfying, like a well-rounded creamy candy. The plates are funky and cool and beautiful. The staff all seem like they're 19, attractive, and gregarious.

At each point, the valet, the host, the server, the food runner--everyone greeted us with a smile and kindness. The welcoming environment was definitely not lost one me. Now, to get to the food: I love that the oysters rotate and I tried a Blue point (my favorite), Love Shucks, and a queen's cup. Next, we went for the blue crab dip. It's served in a great for sharing cast iron skillet. The dip was delicious, and although the dill chips were nice and crunchy, they were overall way to salty and really detracted from the crab dip. For entrees we opted for the stuffed trout and the grouper bites. The grouper bites were fried perfectly and the succotash that it came on really brought out the flavors. I wasn't a fan of the hash but my mom loved it. Now the star of the meal was the pickled onions on my trout. Wow! Truly elevated the dish in a way I hadn't expected and sounds so basic but was a genius choice. Another standout was our server Christian who was attentive, enthusiastic, and helpful. It's so cool because he's also the voice on ESPN so go check him out!

It is definitely on my Alabama "must-visit" list. I am from out of town, but I came looking for a workspace and wanted to grab lunch while I was there. I came around 1 PM and there was a 30 minute wait for 2 for lunch, but have no fear. We just went upstairs to the martini bar and were able to wait and work. We were seated in the garden for lunch, which are mostly cute high tops. Before we even began our meal, a fat adorable white rabbit crossed our path. Then an equally beautiful black rabbit crossed our path. I had no idea there was wildlife just prancing around and I was giddier than a little kid. (There are also ducks and geese who run around!). Now to the food: Had to get the smash burger because it was award winning and boy it did not disappoint! The depth of flavor and the juiciness of the patties were impeccable. I opted for guda cheese instead of cheddar, and I added grilled onions, and this was an excellent choice. The fries are super crispy and the comeback sauce is perfect for dipping . Don't judge us, but we also shared some desserts. The standout was the white chocolate cheesecake, which was sweet but not super indulgent. I would definitely skip the crepe next time. The description made it sound delicious. But overall, it was lacking in a flavor. It was by far the most disappointing dish of the day. Even though it takes a while for food to come out service is impeccable, and the servers are just so lovely, so be patient. I will definitely make the Botanic my go-to establishment when I'm in town!

Dining is an experience and my hobby my husband says. We indulge most nights in many great restaurants all around us or when we frequently travel. I want to start by saying my friend chose this space well! Though it was about a 40 minute drive from their house it was worth it. The venue, grounds, market, dining areas, etc. are all truly a delight. I cannot believe a place like this exists in this area. We started with adult beverages and the amazing complimentary bread with an assortment of butter options. For appetizers, we ordered the pimento cheese and corn ribs (forgot to photograph). Both were delicious! For entrees, the ladies had the pasta dish with my friend adding the shrimp. I am a vegetarian so I did it without any protein. It was very good. The men had the filets with the sides and found them to be cooked properly. The pros were as follows: Beautiful venue/spaces Delicious food The market had some nice shopping gifts to pick up for souvenirs and pastries for breakfast the next morning The cons: We were supposed to be at an inside table and they said that was not the case once we arrived and it was way too hot outside and the flies were terrible. I felt as if they should have accommodated us as we still waited 30 minutes to be seated despite her making reservations weeks ago. That really put a damper on the experience. Their corkage fee to bring your own wine is $40 per bottle. I take my own wine to every restaurant I go to and have never paid $40 even at much higher end places. The waitress was nice but loud and forgetful. We asked for things multiple times and never did get some of the requested things. They do offer lunch and dinner and the menus are a bit different. They focus on fresh produce from local farmers and some they grow there. If you are within a 30 minute drive, I would suggest going as there is not much in that area that compares according to our friends. There are multiple dining spaces so make sure you choose where you want to dine and confirm that. There are multiple bar options as well.

We came Valentine's Day weekend from Columbus, GA after attending mass. He really wanted to take me here and I'm so glad he did. We had the bread and butter which was to die for! I think they gave us too much butter over bread ratio, but l'm not complaining haha. So warm, soft, fluffy and delish the bread was. I don't think we talked much when we had our wagyu steak main course cause it was so good, we couldn't say a word to each other. The pepper sauce with the perfectly cooked medium rare steak (which came cut in two pieces, which is a really genius move to serve steak by the way), with white asparagus, caramelized onion, rose petals, and just pure deliciousness. Literally chef's kiss. We also couldn't make up our mind about desserts cause they had a Valentine's dessert menu and the couple sitting next to us also recommended the cookies and milk. Yeah- I'm really lucky and very spoiled. Definitely hit a sugar high, but absolutely worth it. Servers and greeters were also all so kind and attentive. Let me start by saying the building is beautiful and the atmosphere feels like a nice restaurant. Also, the cocktail menu was definitely curated by someone who knows what they are doing. The appetizer Barrotta cheese was the best part of the evening. With that being said, the entrees were lackluster and small. Our food came out lukewarm at best and honestly seemed like not a lot of thought went into them. I know that this restaurant is supposed to be upscale, but I don't think I should pay 55$ per persons meal and still leave hungry. Also, the staff needs training. The whole time it felt like they were concerned with fast turn over and nothing else. Part of upscale dining is that the price of food and quality of service is more important than turn over time. Generally speaking I will not be back to eat here again.
