This was my first visit to a Thai BBQ & Hot Pot restaurant. A warm round of applause goes to Yelp Elite Andie for arranging this spectacular UYE (Unofficial Yelp Event), held on the evening of 3/29/2026. Andie made a reservation for 8 people, and the hostess told us that we could not be seated until everybody was present. There is a large buffet where you can grab your own food to cook. There were many different cuts of steak, and the quality of the meats, seafood, poultry and vegetables was average. The server, Pui, was super attentive, habitually replenishing water and soft drinks; and replacing used grills. The sauces that I used to marinade the food were unique and powerfully seasoned. The seafood and tamarind sauces were tasty, but the Thai-style BBQ sauce was the winner, hands down! The marinated short ribs of beef stole the show because I had multiple servings of them. They were so tender and tasty. I put some lobster balls, butternut squash and fresh shrimp (with the head on) in the flavorful hot pot broth and had one tasty soup. I was disappointed that there was no mango sticky rice for dessert. What is a Thai restaurant without one?, but the dessert is out of season. I had some chocolate cake and cantaloupe chunks instead. The place has a nice atmosphere, but the ventilation is poor, so you will walk out of the restaurant smelling like BBQ. Nevertheless, I recommend it for a fun time out with friends and family.
Wow! Just wow! On 3/29 I joined about 7 elites at this restaurant. It's like I'm dressed to play football but I'm on a baseball field. I was so lost. No one told me the set up so we go in and set at this wooden booth with a grilling unit in the middle. I asked one worker what the set up and he says meats are there and cooked food are here. OKAY! So that didn't register with me. I saw one person in my party member walking with raw steak. I'm like, hmm he might like his food this way. I go over to the buffet where the meats are, everything is raw. So I follow suite and thought that the employees at the restaurant were going to cook it. Little to my surprise, I learned that we cooked our own food. So a bunch of elites sitting in harmony, talking and I see people put food on the grill, one person in our party started manning the grille. We all gathered meat and vegetables to put our food there and we all shared. There was no that's mine, it was all sharable. Silly me, I didn't know that it was a hot pot ( whatever that is) and I put shrimp on the grill. I later learned that I could place my shrimp in the water that incompassed the grille, allowing for boiled shrimp. I tried the lamb, chicken, satay chicken, shrimp, and cod along with the vegetables. The lamb and satay chicken were my favorite. As we are going on with grilling. Eating, talking, I eased up to get more lamb and returned. Someone took meat off of the grill and someone else says " we need more meat". Say less+ I presented the lamb that I eased up to get. We just laughed and had a great time. I can't complain about the food because we cooked it, and the service was pretty good. The great part is, we had 190 minutes and we weren't rushed as time drew near. I sat and talked with familiar elites. I'd love to come again, this gathering was so much fun and very interesting. Inspire more, Yelp more!
Where can you find a place that has the grill and hot pot at the same table? 90 minutes of all you can eat (acye) for $39.98 + tax per person. Beverages are extra including beer, wine, cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks. Too much leftover has a charge as per website. Servers are great. They come to replace your grill when it's grill needs to be changed, which is pretty frequent. This is not 2 separate items, 1 tabletop - 2 functions! This is ingenious especially for those days when you don't know what you want to eat. Grill on the metal plate; boil in the chicken broth for hot pot. Between grilling the various types of meats, seafood, and vegetables or boiling the vegetables, noodles, and items. There are a good number of choices, that you don't get overwhelmed but it's not limiting. Let's not forget the sauces at the end of the options. At the end, there is some cooked food items and huge rice cookers containing rice. There are desserts too. Fruits including orange and cantaloupe, shaved ice with syrups, various cakes, and ice cream. Unfortunately, no mango sticky rice when I came the second day. Though, it's also not mango season neither. You have to go try this place if you want grill and hot pot at a reasonable price.
Went to Boon Dee on a Saturday night with friends and it was the perfect spot for our group of 6! We had a 5:30pm reservation, which I recommend to do and to come earlier if you can since it gets very busy by 6:30 onwards. Great choice of hot appetizers (chive pancakes, fried eggs, garlic rice, tom yum soup, crab rangoons, etc) to choose from while your hot pot or BBQ meats cook. Mainly got the beef short ribs to cook; other marinated meats were fine but highly preferred their short rib on the grill. Dessert wise, don't skip or on their shaved ice! They used to have mango sticky rice available as well, but not sure if it's no longer available or just not in season. FYI drinks not included here, but I do like the thai iced tea. Tastes good, and you get quite a bit for $5. Service here was amazing! Staff were so friendly and accommodated us by consistently changing the grills or adding hot pot broth. If you've never tried Thai style bbq and hot pot, this is a great change of pace from other BBQ spots with some great food options.
Fourth time coming to Boon Dee. We went on a Saturday night and luckily we had a reservation for 6 people because it was PACKED. We had a reservation for 5:30pm and already there was a line to get in, so highly recommend making a reservation especially during peak times. Service was excellent, our waiter was very nice and checked in with us. Brought us our drinks and refilled very quick, especially when we needed napkins. Gets packed inside with kind of tight aisles and a ton of people walking through. Luckily they constantly refill the meats and food so there was plenty to go around. Definitely recommend getting the hot food and building a garlic rice bowl with the ground pork and fried egg. Then get the sweet soy sauce to top it which is in the opposite side of the bbq sauces. Only street parking but if you go down a block or two, there's plenty.
I liked this Thai BBQ/Hot Pot restaurant so much the first time, that I just hosted an Unofficial Yelp Event (UYE) here for 8 ppl. For some, they were happy for a return visit, and for others, it was their very first time here! Everyone had a great time and wowww, we ate so much!!! Haha. Shout-out to my fellow Yelp Elites! Thanks for coming! At $39.98 per person for both BBQ AND Hot Pot, this was a bargain! (Most other places will charge you an upcharge for having both options). They also have a separate drink menu for an extra charge. Boon Dee has soooo much to offer! There is literally something for everyone's palette; kids included! The many food bars offer SOOOO many choices: -- Hot Appetizer Bar: precooked Thai dishes and appetizers. Some items were better than others. I tend to go for the Thai dishes, which are terrific. But don't fill up here! Save room for the actual BBQ and Hot Pot! -- Meats (large variety of beef, pork, lamb, chicken)...lots of marinated and non-marinated meats for your BBQ and/or Hot Pot. My faves are always the short ribs, Galbi and lamb. -- Seafood (fish fillet, shrimp, squid, lobster balls, fish balls)...the fish fillet is fantastic for your hot pot but not so much on the grill, as it sticks to the grill. The marinated squid is great also (for both the grill and hot pot). -- Veggies (mushroom, cabbage, bok choy, carrots, cilantro, pumpkin, and much more)...fresh veggies; great for grill and/or hot pot! -- Noodles (about 3 different types of noodles)...great for hot pot but don't fill up on noodles! Let's be real: you're here for the meats!! lol -- Plus so much more that I honestly can't even remember -- Desserts (varies from day to day): there's a separate fridge/freezer full of desserts (a variety of sliced cakes, s'mores, mango sticky rice, fresh fruits, and ice creams), as well as a Thai Shaved Ice Station. As full as you probably are after all the food, there's always room for a little dessert!!! Hahaha Hot Pot: Full disclosure: In general, I'm not really a soup person and rarely go for Hot Pot. BUT, I have to say that the chicken broth they use for their hot pot (which is actually a moat surrounding your BBQ grill - see my photos), was fantastic!! I made a point to ask what kind of broth this was and they said it was chicken broth made with lots and lots of veggies. The soup was very tasty. I was impressed! Add your pickings from the food bars (I picked mushrooms, veggies, fish & squid), and you end up with a great soup! I really enjoyed this even though I'm not a soup person. lol Don't sleep in the sauce bars! There are soooo many sauces and seasonings, but you should peruse all the sauce before picking the ones you want! Pick a few and explore all the different flavors! Ventilation was not as bad as some other BBQ places but still, you WILL leave there smelling like food! **(Pro-tip: bring a large trash bag for your coats and jackets, so your coats won't smell like BBQ when you leave). Customer service and hospitality were great! Pui and her staff really took care of us; replenishing our hot pot broth, water glasses, changing our grills often, and clearing our dirty plates often. Attentive service with a smile! Parking: street parking only but very doable! I've never had a hard time finding parking close by. Looking forward to another return visit! This Thai restaurant is an amazing spot for AYCE BBQ AND hotpot. Located in Flushing, it is a bit far from the city, but if you're in the area, I highly recommend. Everything here is self-serve but the staff is super attentive with water and quick with drinks and changing grills. They have a good variety of meats, fresh veggies, and a hot bar here (with a diverse array of Thai hot foods, such as pad kra pao, tom yum, and fried foods). I loved their hot bar and everything was pretty good quality. I got multiple bowls of their tom yum as it was full of mushroom and shrimps, which I loved. Their wide selection of meats and seafood was great. While I did feel that some meat quality was so-so, everything was (overall) pretty solid. They also have a dessert section at the end where you can get shaved ice and smores (for your grill). Great meals and I had such a good time!
After attending a Yelp event here I was waiting for a chance to bring the whole family. I waited for my son to return for Spring Break and had the whole family there for dinner. This unique all you can eat restaurant has both a grill and a hot pot so you can simultaneously grill and boil your food. We arrived at 5:30 for dinner and it was not crowded. As the night went on it started filling up. There's not a lot of tables that can handle large groups. The normal seating seems to be about 2-6 people. A larger group of about 12 people came and took one of the larger booths later that evening. The place is great. It had a hot appetizer bar with scallion pancakes, wings, fries, tom yum soup, and others assorted fried foods. There's rice for anyone who wants it. In the middle there is an area to get all sorts of meats and vegetables. They have a pretty good variety of assorted meats including ribs, pork belly, steak, and lamb. They have seafood like fish, shrimp, and squid. There's all sorts of vegetbles like broccoli and watercress as well as some noodles. They have a sauce bar with unique offerings like tamarind sauce, my favorite. You can grill the food or throw it into the soup that surrounds the grill. The only downside is you can't pick your own broth. The staff is pretty attentive, changing the grill when it gets too charred or removing empty plates. The best part is the variety of desserts they have afterwards. Sure there's ice cream but they also have shaved ice you can custom make yourself, a grill your own smores, and assorted cakes. My husband said that it was the first time at a buffet that he didn't feel disgustingly full but still didn't feel ripped off. There is a 90 minute time limit so use it wisely.
I saw Boo Dee Moo Ka Ta on TikTok and immediately added it to my list. It was my first time trying Thai BBQ, so I was pretty excited going in. The space itself is really nice and much bigger than I expected. We came around 6 pm on a Friday and it was still fairly quiet, but it definitely filled up as the night went on. As for the food, the selection is on the smaller side. The cooked dishes looked like they had been sitting out for a bit, although they were refreshed pretty often. The hot pot section did not have a huge variety, but the broth was surprisingly good. It tasted like a light chicken broth and worked really well with the tofu and tofu skin. The BBQ selection was better than I expected. My only small complaint is that the plates you use to carry food back are tiny, so I ended up making way too many trips just to try everything. I really liked that they had premade sauces ready to go. More hot pot and BBQ places should do that!!!! Service here was honestly excellent. Everyone was friendly, and staff were constantly walking around clearing plates without us having to ask. Overall, Boo Dee Moo Ka Ta was a really fun first Thai BBQ experience. It is not the best all you can eat BBQ I have ever had, but it is definitely worth trying at least once. I just wish it were closer, because it probably is not somewhere I would go out of my way to visit from Brooklyn.

All you can eat thai style bbq with a side of hotpot. Place looks pretty clean and meats and veggies are fresh. You get one grill per table and the grill has a border filled with water to cook your food like a hotpot. This concept is sort of different from korean bbq and it works. Love they have lot of veggies, mushrooms and not meats to put into the hotpot. You can choose from many meat cuts to put on the grill. Sauce station has some thai taste to it, and worked with the meats. Service good and was not crowded when we went and there was never a rush to leave even though the time limit was announced in the beginning.
I've been here about 6x already. Our kids love watching the meat cook on the grill. The selections are pretty decent, although I'd love to see some more options like Korean bbq meats. I know they're not KBBQ, but for the price point they really should. The hotpot section is very small, and can be quite annoying to cook in. This is also how I had it in Thailand, so it's not to say they're not authentic or not sticking true. The cooked food is where it's at, and where I feel you can start to make up the losses if you're not beating the buffet The garlic rice, minced pork, chive pancakes, fried eggs. These are easily $8-$10 additions if you go out to eat at a Thai restaurant. Not sure what that says about Thai food pricing in general though. Now dessert , you can make up another $10-$20. Ice cream, pie, cake, Mango sticky rice, shaved ice, fruits. Easily make up your money if you want to beast out there.
Had such a great experience at Boon Dee Moo Ka Ta! The quality of the meat was excellent and tender, well-marbled, and super fresh. They also had a great variety of seafood, from shrimp to squid and mussels, all really clean and flavorful on the grill. The hot bar was another highlight, the fried shrimp, garlic fried rice, fried eggs, and chicken wings were all delicious and made it easy to mix things up between grilling. The staff was friendly and attentive, and everything was well-organized and clean. Definitely a great Thai BBQ spots around with amazing value and a really fun dining experience!
So rare to find a Thai bbq/hotpot place! Usually they're Korean or Chinese. The flavors were very good! Such a big selection of meats. Loved the sauce selection as well- very southeast Asian tastes. The servers were very attentive and frequently changed our grilling plate because it was getting too burnt (when you grill marinaded meat, this tends to happen often). We went on a weekend and it was AYCE $40/pp for 90 min. The shaved ice was a nice dessert at the end. Would come back more often if it wasn't so far from me! read more

The service at Boon Dee Moo Ka Ta is exceptional and top notch - everyone is on top of it to ensure you don't have to go looking for them. I really appreciated how prepared they were as each table includes all the utensil items needed for this dining experience, so there was no reason to ask. This is a 90 minute dining experience, so each minute counts. The staff is friendly and attentive. They were always present to clean up and ensure that we had everything we needed, leaving us with a memorable dining experience. Note that drinks are not included with the hot pot, but it is fairly priced. I highly recommend visiting Boon Dee Moo Ka Ta. With its wide variety of fresh ingredients and exceptional service, it's a restaurant that will leave you wanting to come back for more. read more

Excited in trying AYCE Thai BBQ and Boon Dee made a great first impression. Bright and sparkling interior. Good service when called upon. Choice of cooking on the grill or in its surrounding hot pot. There were a wide variety of cuts of meats, love the Thai marinated short ribs and pork jaws. Plenty of seafood available, sweet were their shrimp. Ample amount of veggies. Eggs and Corn "Soufflé" in tin cups ready to be steamed. It's definitely a spot I will be coming back to with family and friends in the area. Hmm, it'd be lovely if there's one in Manhattan. If you're looking for a casual and fun all-you-can-eat experience, Boon Dee BBQ is definitely worth checking out. It's a Thai BBQ spot where you can grill your meat at the communal table and the options are plentiful even a picky eater will find something they like. If you're into meat, this place is a solid. The chicken satay, cumin lamb, pork belly, marinated short ribs, and hot pot beef are all flavorful and cook up nicely on the grill. They also have watercress, so you can throw in some greens and feel a little better about all the meat you're eating. For seafood lovers, there's shrimp, and if you're vegetarian, they've got tofu, Thai scallion pancakes (these are different from the Chinese and Korean ones, these are thicker and load of scallions) and a really good tom yum soup when its hot. I have to say, the fried fish was a surprise hit. One of the waitresses recommended it, and I'm so glad she did--it was perfectly fried and delicious. The highlight for me, though, was the shaved ice dessert. I've never seen this at a buffet before, and it's such a nice touch. You scoop fluffy ice into a cup of grass jelly, and top it off with strawberry syrup and condensed milk. It's refreshing and a great way to end the meal. Overall, it's a cool spot to hang out, especially if you like grilling your own food and trying a mix of flavors. It's not fancy, but it hits the spot. Come hungry! read more
Thai style bbq and hot pot near St. John's University - we went on a weekday lunch and there was no wait. The waiters said that on the weekends or dinner there usually is a wait and reservations are recommended. For an AYCE spot the quality of meats is really good. They have a variety of marinated and unmarinated meat that caters to the pickiest of eaters (like my mom). They even have a hot bar for Thai appetizers and dishes like Basil Chicken and fried egg and chive pancakes. For dessert, there's slices of cakes and fruits in the fridge. If mangos are in season, they'll offer mango stick rice. If not, you'll get Thai style shaved ice. All in all a wonderful experience and the staff were all very pleasant. read more

Great place in the neighborhood. The staff are attentive, friendly, and provide great service. A variety of items to pick from to bbq. You'll have hot pot items and regular grill items. All were super fresh. Loved the kalbi, steak, chicken satay, noodles, veggies, tofu, and pork belly. Nice selection of sauces and a ample section for appetizers that included dumplings, scallion pancake, and fried shrimp. Go for the garlic fried rice as that was good as well. Loved the dessert section and friendly staff that helped us put together the shaved ice. The bubble tea with chestnut shaved ice with syrup and condensed milk was refreshing. Great price point and will definitely be back. read more

My daughter's friend recommended this place, so we decided to try it out. Ayce Thai bbq & hotpot? Yes, please! They don't take reservations, but I called ahead to ask for availability, and they confirmed that there is, so I made the 25 min drive to Queens. We arrived at 5:30 pm on a Saturday, table for 5, and got seated within 5 minutes. This place is buffet style- with a wide selection of meats & seafood as well as veggies, appetizers, and desserts to choose from. Wish they had more sauce options tho. I really enjoyed the bulgogi, short ribs, Thai beef, thick pork belly, and some of the fried apps like the crab rangoon, chive pancake, dumplings and wings. All the servers were very friendly & attentive, and the music was great. The girls and I had a great experience here, the food did not disappoint and we ended our dinner with a lot of desserts. The cheesecake & shaved ice are so good! A little on the pricier side, especially when you're with 4 preteens, but nonetheless, worth it. I'll be back! read more

I came here for dinner yesterday and it was a great experience. It is a buffet very clean and you select what you want to eat. They have a time limit which I can not remember but it was enough for me to eat various rounds of food. The staff is great, they check on you regularly and also refill the food regularly. There are alot of different food options. They even had shaved ice which I was quite tasty. I recommend this place to everyone. It is a great family place or a solo date. read more
I came on a Saturday for lunch with a friend and there was no wait. I was surprised at the quality and variety considering this is $40 Ayce. My favorite was the Tom Yom soup, steamed eggs, spicy beef and the mango sticky rice! My only complaint is that 90 minute is short between the time you take to choose your food and grill it. At the end you can get a gatcha price (1 per table). We got a free mouthwash which was pretty random Overall I am definitely planning to come back and take friends here! read more

Took the New York equivalent of a full on road trip all the heck the way out to Fresh Meadows Queens just to try this intriguing Thai hot pot BBQ. I've been to quite a few Chinese hot pots and Korean BBQs but never have I seen this mix, this genius invention, of a hot pot BBQ. An invention I can only describe as pure genius, a gift from the mind of some great thinker who had a vision of a utopian future in which meat and noodles could cook together as one. As equals in a world that serves to only drive them apart. Bless this mind, Yelp. Anyhow, I thought the food was pretty good. There's a buffet of options you can go load up on as you please (you have 90 minutes to go hog wild, but if you leave uncooked food they charge you extra so don't be wasteful), from pork and beef to squid and mussels. There's even some tofu and chicken options, not to mention many vegetables. There's also a pre-cooked buffet with sort of classic pan-Asian options, and a dessert stand with DIY shaved ice, slices of cheesecake and cuts of fruit. Everything we ate (which was darn near all of it) was good, though I'm not sure anything was outstanding in as far as my hour commute from Brooklyn. But I had a fun time overall, and probably would come back here more often if I lived closer. The prices are fair and the experience is a joy if nothing else! read more
Since my last review, I gave this place a second chance and I was blown away at the improvements. The staff is a lot friendlier now and more attentive (though I did get someone different this time...) . I came here with my bf today so he can try Thai BBQ, which is a nice change from the usual KBBQ scene. We made reservations but we actually didn't need one because unlike my first visit, it wasn't busy at all - I guess it makes sense for a weekday afternoon. I definitely liked the environment way more with less crowds. The host who seated us was also our server and he was by far one of the best. We loved that he didn't talk much (we're not as fond of servers who like to keep stopping by to ask "how's everything?") and he was also very attentive to our table. He changed our grill plates and refilled our drinks without either of us having to say a word. For food options, they had just about the same spread as my last visit. I'm particularly obsessed with the short ribs (as mentioned in my last review) and the pork jowl. My bf's favorite was surprisingly, also the pork jowl (he usually prefers lean meat but he said the texture was nice). We mostly ignored the hotpot this time. We were both stuffed beyond capacity so for dessert, we only went for the small cup of herbal jelly. It was overall a great experience so I'm glad I gave them a second chance. read more
I've never been to a Thai BBQ & hotpot place before, and once I heard about this place, I had to check it out. I made reservations since it was on a Friday night. But that wasn't necessary as there were plenty of tables to use for walk-ins. However, if you have a fairly large party, I advise making reservations in advance because those get taken up. They say that you get timed for 90 minutes, but I'm not so sure if that's true. But there are signs everywhere stating that you will get charged. We kept that in mind while dining. There was an explanation given to you when you arrive. How everything is included but the extra drinks like alcoholic or non alcoholic. Just water is free. I ordered a white wine, which was just okay. I got the pre made food in the back, and I enjoyed all of it. In the center of the restaurant are the meat and vegetable dishes to cook on the grill or put in the soup, which is the hotpot. It's an interesting concept, but I would call this more of a bbq experience versus a hotpot. All in all, I'll probably return, but much later on. read more

This is a Thai BBQ AYCE buffet and I was full the entire night. There are a lot of protein options including lamb, beef, chicken and pork. There's also all the basic veggie options and seafood options. This place reminds me of Picnic Garden because of the layout of food. And if you love sauce, you'll be in heaven. I really enjoyed their short ribs and their garlic rice, which I tried to eat as little as possible with my pad krapow and chive pancake. The corn with cheese and eggs are such a fun experience cooking and enjoying. I especially liked the shaved ice station which lets you make your own ice; this would be really fun for kids too. However, beware of the restroom going downstairs, it was really smelly from the entrance. Parking was easy when we went, there were parking in the back of the restaurant and also street parking. The service was really attentive, they made sure to clear our tables and change our grilling plates. read more
Okay so to start off this place is amazing I genuinely think this is one of the best AYCE places in Queens and easily the best BBQ of any kind I have been to so far, I live in Flushing near main street and it was well worth the commute. The service was prompt and friendly, the crowd was very diverse and everyone felt welcome, they cleaned the grill and made sure our table was clear without disrupting the meal experience those are the main things I'd not as you end up cooking the food yourself (which is a huge plus imo.) The atmosphere of the place is not something I care about but to touch on it I'd describe it as clean, comfortable and easy to navigate even if there are several people getting up it's not too cramped. So now to the meat and potatoes; the food. Every cut we had at the buffet each was prepared well and tasted fresh and of good quality I don't think there was anything that we had that was bad at all so please try everything yourselves, Boon Dee has AYCE garlic rice and desserts as well and I liked that there was something for everyone, I'd highly suggest adding some cilantro into your soup as it really enhances the flavor but find your own little additions as you see fit obviously. Our favorite cut of meat was the thai style pork jowl which was actually crack I think we ate out the entire portion at the buffet ourselves (sorry!) but the other huge standouts were the chicken gizard and short ribs which were AMAZING in my opinion. One thing I'd note is the grill does take a second in order heat up as to be expected so maybe start with some smaller cuts of meat and be a little patient as they have a wide variety of options you can eat in the meantime. As a restaurant as whole I would go again as the service was top notch. Went Saturday night with a reservation. The overall area is quite small with kids its a little bit of a hassle to move around. The food itself doesn't particular do grilling at the best nor does it do hot pot at its best. The snake fruit taste like cough medicine. I do like the selection of dessert (has shaved ice, cake slices and ice cream). For kids its great as they are free under 38 inches and they have a good selection of thai flavor fries/rolls/nuggets. Great tom yum soup! We ordered two pitchers of beer between two people and it was a hella good time. its self serve buffet with no instructions on what goes on the grill or hot pot. There sauce selection is good but not Chinese not level good. Overall I would come again but if you are looking for both bbq and hotpot. read more
we came here for a birthday dinner party of six people. was told there was a 90-minute limit when we made the reservation. I think this a genius invention, mixing Thai Chinese, and Korean barbecue together. my favorite was the marbling Galbi beef and cumin Lamb. Crab Rangoon and garlic rice was also very good. my least favorite was the shrimp roll and the pork belly. for the dessert choice are, make your own shave ice, chocolate cake, cheesecake, and Thai sponge cake. since we came in on the mid week, the service was excellent and they also did not rush us. More of a 3.5 We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday evening and were seated right away; by the time we left, around 7pm, there were a lot of people waiting for a table and a full house. The space while I wouldn't call small, felt a bit cramped when trying to walk around to get to and from the buffet. There was a lot of side stepping to get past staff and other customers. There were also 'stations' for the staff to clear empty plates right next to tables in the aisles which I didn't love. A plus was even though this is a BBQ yourself place, I wasn't left with smelly clothes and hair. On the back of the restaurant there is a buffet with hot items, rice, soup and a bunch of apps like chive cakes, chicken wings, etc. The cold buffet has lots of stuff, veggies, kimchi, noodles, multiple types of beef, chicken, pork and seafood. There is even some offal available. At the end of the buffet there is a little sauce station, my favorites were the Thai BBQ sauce and the spicy vinegar. As far as the seafood goes I didn't care for the squid( too chewy) or the shrimp (a little mealy). All of the meats were good...while some things were marinated nothing was overly salted or spiced. The staff was good about swapping out the grills that got too dirty and kept the hotpot part filled. Desserts included shave ice with jelly, cheesecake and tiramisu. Relatively new Thai bbq place and it doesn't disappoint. While I am used to Korean and Japanese BBQs restaurants, Boon Dee was a welcome new take, as this was my first time having Thai BBQ. Although some of the dishes and meats overlap with Korean BBQ, they were tasty nonetheless. The hotpot portion on the outer ring of the burner was an interesting addition where you can cook some leafy greens, fishballs, and other varieties to balance out the meal, so it's not all meat forward. With the majority of cook at your table BBQ spots being Korean I appreciate having a little change of pace having one nearby with Thai influence! I feel that the current $39.99 is a good value for everything you get. Here's a bit of a rundown: The decor is very nice and the wood booths are comfortable, but unfortunately when you have 3 to a bench its awkward to get up and down being the 1st person in. I like that this is a self serve so you can get as little or as much of an item as you want instead of fixed order where you may not want to eat everything. Everything was fresh - some of my party thought some of the meats lack seasoning/being marinated. I didn't think so, but then again isn't that what the sauces do? Give it the flavor you want! The cumin lamb was prob my favorite - lamb and goat are usually my favorite meats. Par cook the seafood items in the hot pot - they tend to stick to the unseasoned grills. You can finish on the grill if you wish. I like the hot pot moat - seasoning from the grill gets added to the soup. I like having the combo action. We wound up with a very flavorful broth towards the end! I enjoyed the premade sauces and stuck to the Thai seafood and bbq sauces, but you can make your own if you wish. The prepared food bar is a treat to add variety. I especially liked the coconut eggplant/chicken curry and tom yum soup. TIP: Leave a little in your bowl to enhance the flavor of the hot pot soup/items you take The service was very good keeping things clean and moving. Initially we were told about the 90 min limit and that the clock was ticking, but we had a leisurely meal and we were not kicked out when we went over or the overcharge enforced. Much appreciated! Mango sticky rice is a very enjoyable desert. They have make your own shaved ice. This place is a bit off the beaten path - parking is not bad in the area. Great neighborhood spot, staff is very friendly and helpful. We eat halal / veggie / fish and there were limited options but delicious. Must tell them you can do boiling water and not chicken broth, you can add sauces to the water to make it more of a ramen broth, and there are several noodle options and veggies and fish balls. There are ready made fried options like scallion pancake and crab Rangoon (delicious) and the little shots of mango sticky rice and DIY shaved iced are amazing. For $40 per person we had alot of swai fish with delicious peanut sauce and shrimp and squid, would love kosher/halal meat or more seafood if possible. Garlic rice was also delicious! For the meat eaters it's totally awesome and worth it! read more
Came here with a party of 6 and they all sat us on one grill only. Since there was a time limit of 90 minutes, we couldn't cook much for the 6 in the party. Also, the flames were not on that high so it took a really long time to actually cook the meats as well. We had asked if we can get extra time since we had a party of 6 and we were all hungry still and they said no as they have alot of people waiting. So I would recommend splitting into groups of 3, since even for a party of 4 I don't think you'll get your moneys worth since the gas isn't on that high and it takes a while for it to cook. I ended up filling up my stomach with their cooked food options since cooking again was taking SO long. I had their dumplings and wings and fries but that's not what I would like to pay for in an AYCE. All in all I would come back but with a smaller party. The food we did cook was good! But the hotpot portion took forever to cook as I'm not sure if it's meant to use to cook veggie since it wasn't really boiling read more

I came as a party of 2 at around 7p and was seated immediately, just in time to beat the rush. As soon as we were seated, the experience was explained, our broth was poured and it was time to feast! The chicken broth is bland at first but gets its flavor with time. The selection of meats and veggies was excellent. It's gets crowded but the staff is super attentive at keeping everything replenished. The hot food section was a little lacking for me. I tried one of everything and will probably never go back to that section, like ever. There's just too much goodness at the other table to waste my time and stomach space All in all, 90mins was enough for us. The service was superb. Although it was self serve, they were constantly checking on us and cleaning our table as we go. Everything tasted and looked fresh. Everything was kept clean. For the price, you really cannot beat this. I only wished there was more space overall in the restaurant and more broth options. A wide soup moat would've been useful too. Quality top tier and I hope it never goes away 2) Steamed egg: most joints put a ton of salt on their eggs, they don't. 3) Corn: great flavours 4) Pork Belly: taste as it should 5) Lamb: gamey like lamb, but was good! 6) Squid: Good crunch and recommended with the Seafood sauce 7) Other meats: Thai seasoned and good! 8) Dessert: Shaved Ice - tastes gimmicky but the herbal jelly is not bad. Awesome AYCE restaurant that recently opened up. This is the first Thai BBQ that I have been to, and it didn't disappoint. They have an appetizer station with an array of hot items like chive pancake, curry, chicken wings, basil ground pork, dumplings, ragoons, and shrimp. It's nice to have these premade items while you're cooking up the meats, and I enjoyed the texture and taste of these dishes which all tasted pretty authentic. Their raw meat station has many different types of each type of meat including beef, pork, chicken, and seafood. They have several different marinated meats as well. My favorite meat was the Short Rib, which was marinated very well, with a good amount of sweetening. We also enjoyed eating the thick Pork Belly, but they also have thin slices as well. At the table, there is a central grill with an outer ring with boiling broth so that you can grill the meat as well as prep hot pot items as well. We liked the change of pace, and as opposed to most other BBQ/Hot Pot restaurants, there is no up-charge to eat both. We liked boiling the fish balls, mushrooms, noodles and veggies in the hot pot. Finally, they have a large selection of desserts including Mango Sticky Rice which was simply delicious! They also had shaved ice and cheese cake. The service was really good. The servers were very personable and attentive to us. The restaurant is also very large and can accommodate for large parties. They kept the restaurant nice and clean. $40 per person, which is worth it for the variety that they provide! Will come again! read more

Unique Thai BBQ and hot pot experience! I finally dined here with a group of friends and had a nice meal. The idea of Thai BBQ was interesting and we wanted to see what the hype was. Similar to picnic garden, there is a buffet style setup for diners to select the meats and veggies to be grilled or cooked via hotpot. The options were pretty standard cuts of meat like marinated pork, short ribs, chicken, etc. There was also a buffet style section with cooked Thai foods such as Tom yum soup, green curry, chive pancakes, and other fried appetizers. I really enjoyed the green curry since it was actually spicy. As for the cooking, it was a standard Korean style BBQ grill, but had a ring of soup surrounding it. The broth wasn't too flavorful and the hot pot experience was kinda underwhelming. We put fishballs, mushrooms and veggies to flavor the soup but would have preferred if it was a Tom yum broth to begin with. For the BBQ meats, they must be eaten with the various homemade Thai sauces prepared to truly appreciate the experience. I really enjoyed the sauces but didn't really see how it could really be justified as Thai BBQ. Desserts were flavored shaved ice with various fruit toppings and of course mango sticky rice. Overall, it was a pricey and delicious meal. I won't be racing to return but wouldn't mind returning in the future. It's worth a visit in my books! read more

This is a great AYCE bbq spot if you want something different from the typical Korean bbq. There's so many options, it's clean, and the appetizers and desserts set this place apart. This place has hotpot and bbq together as part of the price per person. The hotpot is a little underwhelming for the broth doesn't have much flavor. The vegetables in hotpot broth brings out the broth flavor. There are lots of meats with different marinades and some seafood available as well. My favorite are the corn cheese and steamed egg. The sauces available give it the Thai flavors that this place promotes. There are some spicy sauces and some sweet/sour sauces. It is quite flavorful. The desserts available are cheesecake, sliced cake, shaved ice with jelly toppings, and mango sticky rice. The mango sticky rice is worth the wait. I would definitely come back in the future for a special celebration. read more
I've been here twice already & I am obsessed. Boon Dee is a Thai-style AYCE BBQ spot that incorporates table top cooking elements of Korean BBQ with veggie and noodle goodness of Chinese hot pot & top it all off with fish sauce-laden marinades and delicious tropical desserts. I think the best quality of this restaurant is the freshness of the meat and seafood. Most AYCE spots serve pretty poor quality cuts, but Boon Dee always has nice chunks of good quality meats. The rotation of the food is high, so sometimes you may be waiting a little bit for an item but you will have fresh food to cook at the table. I love the marinated meats, especially the Thai style ones, which is a flavor that is not easy to find around here. I can also vouch for the kalbi and bulgogi, which is not overly sweet or overly salty as they tend to be when you go to an American restaurant. I will say that because the BBQ options are so high quality and fun, the hotpot stuff is just kinda there to fill in the veggie quota. The broth is not super flavorful, but it is nice to be able to cook the veggies and the noodles. For the quality and amount of food, I think this price is worth it, though it might be on the pricier side. read more
