Radish
Ai T.

I usually eat here at least once a year. And All the times in the past and this time, the taste and quality is the same, I love that they're consistent. Came in Saturday night but at the time it was pretty empty, just my boyfriend and I , and 2 other customers. However, we waited 1 hr since we came in and we only had 1 order of the chicken (15 pieces), so the wait was veryyyy long for that small quantity. However, once the food came out - it was very good! We got the Combo Medium size with drumstick & wings - Spicy and Soy garlic, with radish as the side. The chicken overall was steaming hot, which I love. The skin outside was very crispy, which is why I love Bonchon for and that's what makes Bonchon stand out from other places. The Spicy was delicious - good kick with a mix of some sweet and savory sauce. I love the sauce Soy Garlic was very good as well with the savory and soy flavor. Each bite is perfect as you taste the crunchiness from the skin, then the sauce oozes out, and the chicken meat is cooked well for all pieces. Service was good and the place was clean!

Great Korean fried chicken. Very friendly place. The noodle dish was okay, beef was tender.

This place has been on my radar for a while. So while we were in the area we decided to try it. I was so excited to try it. We were quickly seated and things started to look a little off. For one, a worker was at one of the tables looking like a nurse with gloves and other restaurant bags of food at the table. She was helping an older woman eat and care for her. Anyway, on to the food. We ordered the chicken, 2 different flavors. We also started with the bulgogi fries and bao buns. The fries looked weird when it came. The cheese wasn't melted like we had thought but maybe that's just how it's served? The flavor was ok but not something I'd ever order again. The bao buns were also just ok. The meat to bun ratio is off. Please add more meat so we're getting more of the flavors rather than just the bun. Also, it was a little wet and mushy. The chicken is where it's at. Great flavor and you can't go wrong. If we stuck with just the chicken, this would've been a five star review. Unfortunately, we'd probably not stop here again because there are wayy too many great restaurants out there.

Came into Bonchon, right near our house for a quick dinner at the bar. I had the tofu, fried, Bibimbap and my husband had the five drumsticks. With a couple of beers to wash it down. Great food! I asked for one additional sauce for my dish as it was a little light on seasoning. I should've only used half of the next one. It became very spicy with two. So just be warned. If you like your dishes, very spicy ask for two sauces, if you can finish it. All in all great dish, great service. Come out and enjoy some Korean food.

Very patient waitress even when dealing with less than knowledgeable customers while serving the whole place all alone. Food came out fast, extremely crispy chicken.

My cousin brought dinner and I had never heard of this place so I was intrigued when she walked through the door with it. She got fried rice and soy Ginger wings. The rice was good, a typically chain fried rice. It kinda gave me Trader Joe's fried rice vibes but a little bit better. The chicken was cooked well, perfectly crispy and sauced. The sauce was a little on the salty side but it was still good. I didn't pick up the food or go into the restaurant so I have no feedback on service or ambiance.

JOSH is the man!!! He was awesome from start to end. We walked in for lunch, and we were seated right away. I was excited to find this Bonchon location in Tempe, which is about 8 minutes from the Lexus dealership in Chandler. After some negotiations at the dealership, of course we got hangered. Thanks to my trusty Yelp app for steering us in the right direction! We got 2 Combo Lunch Specials, which come with 8 wings. We chose Soy Garlic and Korean BBQ for the sauces. For our sides, we got the Pickled Radish (because it's a sin NOT to, lol!) and the Seasoned Fries, which is an extra $2, but worth it! The Japchae was a must-have, so we ordered one to eat and another to-go for later. In comparison to other locations, it was a little greasy, but overall, had that signature Bonchon flavor. Everything was delicious! The chicken was really crispy on the outside and cooked thoroughly on the inside. No pink middles here! I always have to get the radish because it complements the chicken so well, especially the KBBQ since it had a slight kick to it. I asked Josh for extra, and he came through! I appreciate that awesome service! We were glad to have come at the right time. It was a Tuesday and not busy at all for lunch. The restaurant is clean and bright. There's a parking lot right outside, and the prices are competitive. I would definitely come back here and highly recommend it if you're craving some amazing, CRISPY, and FLAVORFUL chicken cooked perfectly! If you see Josh, tell him I said wassup & I'll be back sooner or later! ;)

I ordered takeout here for the first time! Super delish. Service was nice while I waited. The only thing is they didn't give any utensils or even napkins... not even offered. Overall nice. Food is very yummy! I look forward to taking my family next time! We're big on wings and I just love that Korean Wings are extra crispy! Plus they have bulk deals for big families so that's great! I will definitely be returning.

I love this chicken. I didn't eat there but got it all to go. I love the spicy chicken and daikon. I don't know about eating there but it seeming clean and not too crowded when I went there. If you don't mind getting your sweat on while eating delicious fried chicken then this is your place!

While still a great stop for some great food I felt a lot of our items were over cooked this time. My bao buns while flavorful the meat could've been cooked a tad less. It was a bit tough to chew. The potstickers were amazing with half and half of the sauces. My bibimbap spicy and delicious. Service was good and Amy delay was addressed. Vibe is pretty basic, but welcoming and enjoyable. Prices fair for the amount of food you receive.

Ordered for the Second time this week tonight got the chicken sandwich , fried rice , an the cinnamon donut things . The inky thing I wish is that it had more slaw. Definitely check them out if your looking for for some amazing chicken and fried rice

The restaurant offers a wonderful tape on crispy chicken. The sauces add value and I have never been disappointed here. A group from work go with me once or twice a month and we have to say the service is fantastic. A very family familiar atmosphere where they almost greet You by name. We always brought new employees to join us. The bugogie fries are fantastic.

Adam N.

We drove 40min to pick up and 40min back home (we live in Glendale) and honestly very disappointed with the end result. We ordered the bibimbap seafood, fried rice, street corn and Tteokbokki. Everything was fine except the fried rice and bibimbap. The rice was extremely undercooked to the point of it almost being crunchy. Currently looking up ways to soften it up instead of tossing these 2 dishes in the trash

Ask the Community - Bonchon Tempe

I recently (last week) visited San Tung in San Francisco for the deep-fried chicken. It was delicious and the sweet sticky sauce that the chicken came in was just what I was looking for. Does Bonchon offer the sweet sticky sauce with the chicken?

Kinda. They have a flavor, yangnyeom, that was sweet and sticky, but a lil spicy towards the end. Good flavor overall.

Do they use MSG?

Can I call ahead to order takeout? I can't seem to find the location's number.

Yes. You can. I just did it today. The number is 480-361-9282.

Zero meltdowns, full bellies. That's a win in any parent's book. It's all-you-can-eat, which sounds overwhelming until you realize how well they manage it -- staff bring everything to your table, so it never feels chaotic or buffet-style. Order what you want, cook it how you like it, repeat. The banchan (side dishes) game here is strong. Kimchi, pickled radish, spicy green chilies, creamy green sauce, multiple dipping sauces -- all without even asking. The marinated beef was the standout: tender, well-seasoned, and gone off the grill before it even had a chance to cool down. Family pricing tip: little ones under 40 inches tall eat free -- great perk for families with young kids. Weekday lunch runs around $15.99/adult, which is genuinely solid value for AYCE Korean BBQ. Weekends switch to dinner pricing (~$25/person), so plan your family outing on a weekday for the best deal. The vibe is modern and energetic -- just lively enough that the kids don't feel like they need to whisper. Staff were warm, attentive, and regularly swapped out our grill grate without us having to ask. For a family-friendly Korean BBQ experience that delivers on both food and atmosphere, Gen is the move. Already counting down to the next visit.

We go to Korean BBQ often, always cook our meat thoroughly, and have never experienced anything like this before. We both spent the entire night throwing up and feeling miserable afterward. What made the situation worse was how management handled it. I've been calling for over a week just asking if there was any way we could receive some sort of refund, especially since we were loyal customers and this has never happened before. Every day I was told "they'll call you back," but nobody ever did. The only response I finally got was a rude text from the manager saying "yeah we get it," with absolutely no apology or concern whatsoever. Really disappointing experience overall. Save your time, money, and stomach and go somewhere else. Management is unprofessional and completely unresponsive when there's an issue.

My friends and I came to this place together because I had been before and liked the Korean food here. Food was legit and was a good experience previously. However, the day we came in, the waitress got my friend's order wrong as my friend wanted the bibimbap but the waitress heard something else and brought out a soup. When my friend immediately told her that isnt what she ordered, the waitress (new) proceeded to argue with my friend. I watched incredulously as things started to unfold. The waitress even asked my friend to pronounce bimbimpap again and told her she should learn how to pronounce it better. She kept arguing wirh my friend and mind you, waitess wasnt Korean or Korean American. At this point, I had to step in, as I also heard my friend say bibimbap clearly. The waitress didnt know what she was talking about and at the same time was being rude as heck to my friend. Then, my other friend shows up and orders a bibimpap. When the bibimpap is brought out, I asked her to bring some gochujang for my friend. I didnt know if my friend would like this chili paste, so wanted her to have the option to try it. The waitress again decided to argue about this and at this point, she was really testing my nerve. She said bibimpap doesn't come with gochujang and I am like thinking are you crazy, woman? I am not Korean but I have been eating Korean food for 30+ years, I know what I am talking about. She then asked me to repeat gochujang several times and I was very annoyed at this point. Its like, look lady, you dont know what youre talking about, stop sticking your foot in your mouth and come on, be nice to your customers! Because of this terrible behavior, I asked to speak to a manager, a woman came over and listened to what happened and apologized and thats how we found out she was new. I was beyond frustrated at this point. Despite the horrible service, I still left a 10% tip, but honestly the waitress deserves zilch and needed more training. The food is solid here but I wont be returning with that kind of behavior, I can choose where my money goes, and these days with it being so hard to get by, good luck to this place as I am not coming back.

Overall, the place has a fun vibe with lots of string lights and Japanese decorations. They have happy hour twice a day. We came during their 9-11PM happy hour (we love a late night happy hour!) Lots of options for sushi, drinks, and appetizers on the happy hour menu. The spicy tuna roll was a refreshing roll with just the spicy tuna, cucumber and rice. A simple roll that still has a good spicy flavor but not too overpowering that it takes over your meal. The Vegas roll is a classic if you like fried rolls! Can't go wrong with this one. The nigiri was top notch. The yellowtail nigiri quite literally melts in your mouth and the flavors are buttery and soft. It's my personal favorite whenever I want nigiri. The salmon nigiri was also very good. Slights sweet but if you add soy sauce it balances it out. The jjambong pot was so filling. We ate this after the sushi. It's enough to be shared with 2-3 people and includes a mix of some seafoods, enoki mushrooms, onions, and ramyeon with a spicy broth. The noodles were good, the broth was delicious and not too spicy if you're not a person that handles spice well. My only complaint is that we had about 6-7 mussels but only 2 pieces of shrimp. It would've been nice to have a more even distribution of the seafood but other than that the taste was amazing. With the happy hour it was incredibly affordable. Even without the happy hour I would definitely come here again. 10/10!!

Out of all of the things we ordered the karange skewer was just a little more oily than were use to, but still good. I love Japanese food so my decision was made. I drove over and parked in their complimentary lot. Ambiance (3.5/5): I've been to Japan and there are plenty of izakayas there. Think of them as small bars which often serve solid food. Zu fits that bit. It's a relatively small restaurant, probably seats about 30 people. and it's pretty no frills for a Japanese spot. I was seated at a booth in the corner of the restaurant. They have free WiFi which is always a good touch. Service (3/5): Service was friendly, though a bit inconsistent. My waitress wasn't as attentive as I would have liked. The type of service where you have to flag them down to get what you want and to close out. Drinks (4/5): Zu has a nice menu of Japanese and Korean beverages, including sake, soju, Japanese beer, and more. With that being said, I just had an iced green tea. Food (4/5): I got a nice variety. I went with the Japanese sausage off of the grill menu, the OBI mayo roll off of the sushi menu, and the cheese corn off of the appetizer menu. Let's start with the sausage. It's a small item, two small sausages, but absolutely delicious. The sausage was bursting with flavor and basted in a sweet sauce. Minus the portion size, perfection. The cheese corn also hit the spot, but the execution was off. The corn is served on a hot platter, and unfortunately some of the corn on the edges was badly burnt. The type of situation where they should start over. Which they didn't. Lastly, the OBI mayo roll is essentially a California roll with marinated warm shrimp on top in a mayo sauce. I didn't love the hot and cold combo (shrimp and sushi), but outside of the temperature, it was a delicious roll. All in all, a very food meal. My only gripe with Japanese food is that it can get expensive quick. Given that Zu is in Tempe, I was hoping that prices would be a little cheaper. With that being said, they do have a solid happy hour (and reverse happy hour) with both food and drink specials. Next time I stop by, I'd like to check out some of their Korean options. I focused on the Japanese stuff this time (which makes the majority of the menu). Next time around, the bulgogi is calling my name!
