We love Flame Broiler. Their beef bolgogi bowls with steamed veggies are the best. Have been coming to Flame Broiler for 20+ years. My only complaint is that they need more of them in the valley (they were everywhere in Newport Beach, CA when we lived there for years) read more

Flame Broiler - Outfront - Asian Fusion Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

Delicious food! Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. Meat is not fried or covered in sauce, so food seems less heavy and more healthy. Great fast casual place and a reasonable price point. Service was fast and very friendly. This is definitely a place we will return to. read more

Flame Broiler - Mini chicken bowl and Regular half and half bowl - Asian Fusion Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

Really solid teriyaki, great staff, very good value, great portion sizing for every appetite. Every sauce is great, rice and veggies are always cooked perfectly. Plenty of seating inside, nice sauce dispensers that allow you to grab extra if needed. read more

Flame Broiler - Chicken breast teriyaki with veggies only! - Asian Fusion Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

Mediocre food at best. I was excited to try Flame Broiler because the idea sounded creative-- almost like an Asian twist on Chipotle. However, the food I ordered was below average. The Spicy Chicken Bowl with "salad" was just overcooked chicken over uncooked cabbage. There was a lot of spice to it though, hence the second star. The brown rice was sticky as if it was slightly undercooked. Sadly, not a crowd pleaser. read more

The Flame Broiler is a counter service teriyaki bowl restaurant that is cafeteria style where you select your rice or veggies then your protein. They have no frills or thrills, but they serve very good teriyaki bowls! We came from the far west valley when we were in the area looking for a bowl where each of us was able to select a different type of protein. The serve at the counter was great! We came in on a weekend night with about 1.5 hours before closed. When we walked in only one other customer was walking out with their takeout order. I didn't get a good feeling initially. We order our bowls. The tofu was made to order and took a few minutes. The beef was ready in the steam table and made to my liking. You're able to select your sauce and amount of sauce you want in the condiment area. We were both blown away by the freshness and taste, especially when we were nearing closing time. As we are eating, a steady stream of customers keep walking in. We will be back. A 25+ mile trek just for the bowl is a stretch, but will definitely be back when I am in the area. The sitting situation would remind you of most fast food joints, but it is very clean! Condiment area was well stocked, organized and sauce dispenser was clearly marked with each available sauce. Overall a very good experience and would tell you to try it for yourself if you're on the fence! read more

All around solid experience. The meats could be slightly better (my chicken was a tad on the dry side), but the thing that makes Flame Broiler unique is their 3 hot sauce choices, which I really enjoyed. The jalapeño one was genuinely spicy and added great flavor to the teriyaki. read more

Not too bad here, almost like a yogi bbq chicken and beef. Did kinda like that it's not drenched in sauce and its on the side that I can add as needed. But that being said, no flavor in beef and chicken but can tell is grilled. Would've liked more flavor at least salt, then if I wanted to eat without teri sauce like a healtier option?. Different types of in house hot sauce that I mixed with the teri sauce to make a spicy teri was good too. Overall it's ok read more

Quick service and amazing food! I'll be back for more! Highly recommend! The meats are perfectly cooked and seasoned!

Flame Broiler has always been a favorite of mine going all the way back to when I used to live in Southern California where they are based out of. Pretty much most of them are the same in terms of food quality and portions. Sometimes the service is hit or miss. For this location, the quality of everything seemed a bit off. Case in point. The day I went I ordered what I always order. A Chicken low carb (veggies only, no rice) plate. So I got my plate l and sat down. First thing I noticed was that the chicken was not cooked all the way. I went up to the counter and showed them. They said that they would make me another plate and that it would take about 10 minutes. I get my second plate and this time the chicken was cooked properly but the veggies were still hard meaning, they barely cooked it enough for you to chew it properly. At this point, I just finished my chicken and left. Since I was still hungry I ended up going to King of Gyros next door. Now their steak and chicken was way better than Flame Broiler! I don't usually mention other places in my reviews but I gotta give credit where credit is due. In closing, I highly recommend going to King of Gyros next door. Way better quality of chicken and beef. Their service is great too! Have been there at least 3 times since this Flame Broiler incident. Sorry Flame Broiler but this location has me going to King of Gyros every single time. Yelp 2020 review #44 840 overall read more

Anthony blew me away with great customer service start to finish! While inside another customer gave feedback about a sauce being out, he politely redirected them to the other on counter AND THANKED HIM FOR LETTING HIM KNOW! Great customer service, the owners / managers should be proud for this employee this have working under them! read more

I frequent this spot about once a week. It's a quick, delicious, and always consistent. The food always tastes fresh. I love the online ordering system and how you can customize your bowl down to what kind of veggies you want. It's always clean inside, and I love the sauce & topping station (I'm a sucker for condiments)! read more

I love their food! It's a small menu but very tasty. It's always clean when I go in and the staff is always friendly.

Their was another location I used to go to years ago, but apparently this place is still in business in a new area of Tempe. Unfortunately, as usual, things are never as good as I remember. The white meat is an upgrade charge, which is fine, but the meat was a big chewy for my taste and not seasoned. The other items were ok as it had the standard rice and veggies and a few green onions. Hot sauce was actually better than magic sauce. read more

Waited for fresh beef. Cashier dumped old beef in my plate anyway. Then made some stupid hearing aid joke. Skip it.

The steak is excellent. Its tender and delicious. The sauces are disappointing, basic. The ratio of rice to steak could be better as well as the veggies, not enough. read more

Food here is so fresh and healthy. The chicken bowl with rice and veggies is quick easy way to get an amazing meal. The rewards program is great too. read more

Beef bowls are excellent! Like that the sauce is grilled on and is sticky yummy goodness! Quick and easy to go!

I was a big fan of The Flame Broiler when living in San Diego and was happy to find they had a location here in Valley near me. I've enjoyed this place because it's delicious, healthy, and affordable. My wife and I can both get a meal from here for around $16-17. It's twice as much at The Original ChopShop for similar meals with no taste. read more

Love how Flame Broiler has started bottling and selling Magic Sauce! It's a little pricier than I'd like, but that stuff is delicious and I put it on more than just chicken/beef when I use it to cook at home. In addition to magic sauce, I appreciate how Flame Broiler offers tasty, healthy food at a reasonable price and doesn't take long to get. read more

Everything was absolutely amazing. We drove 40 minutes because we missed the food & they don't have locations on the west side. The service was amazing and the staff were quick and very kind. The restaurant is incredibly clean. 11/10 would recommend eating here. read more

Had flame broiler in the past at another location. Came here late in the for dinner. There was one female worker that seems like she hated life and her work. Passively rude. I order 1 regular half and half. Then I told her I wanted a regular chicken. It looked weird that the second bowl looked smaller, but she was already done making the bowl. I had a coupon which was to be used for similar size. She had a minor fit. At this point, they ran out of chicken and also veggies. Apparently, the cook, was only making them on as needed basis. So we waited for another 10min or so. During the wait, I could here the cashier complain to the cook, that I didn't specified the bowl size when I ordered initially. However I did. Also, If I didn't why would you not clarify and just assume i wanted a "mini" size. Chicken was finally done and veggie were steam so quick, that it essentially uncooked. Now the worst part is after I get home. Been hungry and waiting. Now time to eat. The rice was under-cooked. My friend's bowl, also had the under-cooked white rice, since it was the same batch. This location will need to change their worker and update for quality assurance. Will not come back for awhile to this particular location. PS: I still like the hot sauce. read more

Clean protein and veggies, what's not to like? This place is basically the chipotle model of come in and pick from a few options to build your meal. Instead of mission style burritos they do asian inspired bowls. A plate is $10 and a hearty but guilt free meal. It comes with brown rice, blanched veggies, a cabbage salad, a half an orange and protein. I picked half chicken and half beef and it all had a flame kissed taste. Everything was cooked well and tasted great. I used what they call magic sauce which is basically teriyaki sauce and it was all great. They're not blowing anyone's mind with a culinary adventure but I could see being a regular here. read more

Just awful! We ordered chicken bowl and tofu bowl. The food had no taste we threw away almost everything. The side sauces they have had a weird stench. Overall it was just a very experience. Won't recommend at all. read more

I haven't been to this location in a few years due to a couple of bad experiences but want to say that it has dramatically improved. Store is clean, employees are friendly, and food was good. Will return again. read more

The food menu is simple, which is nice if you're someone indecisive reading an overwhelming restaurant menu. The food was extremely bland - no seasoning at all. Even with the "magic" sauce and tripe sauce. However, I will boast about the ridiculously affordable prices for the quantity of food you get. $1.75 will get you an entire half of an avocado! That's more avocado for less than anywhere else that offers it as an add-on. They also offer an entire vegetarian entree, and you can choose between a carb or a no carb. Very healthy, very affordable, then only reason I gave a 3-star was just because the taste was lacking. I'd order again, but just pack a mix of seasonings for myself to add. read more

Tasty bowls with veggies. Friendly, above average customer service from the cashier today. Haven't been in a while, but it was great and I'll be back again. I got the mini chicken bowl with white rice, veggies, and green onions. Juicy chicken. Definitely hit the spot. Magic sauce is essentially a version of teriyaki sauce - very good! Hard to come by a good teriyaki chicken bowl around here, but this meets the mark. Just the right size bowl for me, too. I usually have leftovers, but ate it all (which is good because I don't like to waste food). Regular size worked well for my husband. He got the half and half (half chicken and have angus beef I believe). We were both satisfied. Thank you, Flame Broiler! read more

This location stood out to me after searching for a quick bite. As described it's a fast food, healthy Koreanish joint. We stopped by on a Saturday in the late afternoon and the place was empty but very clean. The food counter layout is similar to chipotle where you order and they add toppings. The menu is very simple with options of beef, chicken, half as half, and tofu. You can pick white or brown rice and top it off with veggies of your choice. After ordering, you can find a table and self serve soft drinks (not included in meal). They have a sauce/pepper stationary in the center starting with mild to hot. The fire sauce was not hot at all. The food is flavorful with some sauces of your choice of course, light and healthy. If you're looking for a quick and delicious lunch, this is the place. And not to mention, it's pretty healthy with a fresh avocado on top! Goodbye Tempe! read more

Purchased a mini chicken bowl and was charged for a medium bowl. I didn't realize it until after I had finished the meal. It was fine I'm so I went to the counter and explained the situation. They didn't know how to refund or reverse the charges so they had to call someone. They could figure it out so u asked if I can just purchase another bowl and have the over charged amount credit, they didn't know how to do that either so in return, they just gave me another bowl free of charge. They were nice about it but there's a small part of me that thinks this was intentional or the girl behind the counter wasn't thinking. Not sure, when I first arrived I started to place my order and she ignored me doing things behind the counter. I thought she was being rude so I said, whenever your ready. Idk, perhaps she just wasn't the brightest bulb. Food was just average. Not sure if I would return. read more

Flame broiler really hits the spot. There's not a lot of places that offer fast, tastefully simple, decently healthy, clean, delicious bowls. I do like Protein House and sometimes Original Chopshop. But Flame Broiler somehow hits my heart, reminding me of my roots and simple childhood meals. I wish there was another establishment in Phoenix! read more

I used to eat at the flame broiler in Irvine a lot and it was pretty good. Today I had a white meat rice bowl delivered to me. The large pieces of chicken were inedible. They were slightly undercooked and totally disgusting. I'm hoping that I don't get sick since I did actually swallow the first piece. After biting into another and tasting the raw texture, I started cutting into all the big and found they were all raw in the middle. It was gross, it was a health hazard, and it was a waste of money. read more

This is a healthy, fast service, Asian fusion concept. I remember this from my ASU days, with a location at University/Rural that closed a few years back. I'm excited that this chain is back in Tempe. I ordered the Organic Tofu bowl. The tofu was firm and moist, but not soggy. The brown rice was good and soaked up the sauce well. The steamed veggies are standard. My friend ordered the Chicken Plate. She said the chicken was charred well and wasn't dry. We sampled the Magic sauce which was sweet and smoky like a good teriyaki. They also have a hot sauce which reminds me of franks red hot. All in all the location was clean, fast, and served up a good healthy meal after my workout at LifeTime Fitness. I'll be coming here again. read more

This location is excellent. Flame broiler is such a great healthy option for a meal, it's incredibly tasty and their sauces make everything amazing. The customer service at this location is excellent, everyone is always so nice and helpful and they make you feel welcome and appreciated. They actually weigh their servings here which is what you are supposed to do at every location but a lot of them don't. I appreciate that because you actually get the right amount of food for what you are paying for. read more

I love it when I can keep it Keto fast and delicious! I just wish it was closer to me! I can't wait to go back!

Came here for a quick lunch at around 12:30. The place was pretty busy but thankfully the service was quick, so I had plenty of time to eat in. I ordered the half rice half veggies with half chicken half beef. They've definitely changed up their menu options a bit so an indecisive individual like me can get everything with one go. Everything was freshly cooked too! Four different type of self-serve sauces: spicy 1, 2, 3, and magic sauce! I got the 3 and the magic sauce. 3 definitely had a bit of kick to it! Facilities wise - very clean and had a decent amount of seating. Would definitely come back again! Make sure get a punch card from them! Buy 5 for 1 free drink and buy 10 for 1 free meal. read more

We come here once and sometimes twice a week. My son who is a gym rat likes the foodso I usually get dinner for the whole family while I am there. Recently I noticed this place has really gone down. About a month ago, one night after I was raving about this place I brought my daughter in. The tall larger frame girl was yelling at her boyfriend in the lobby. She was screaming at him telling him to leave. It didn't look like he was doing anything but just sitting inside but after her yelling the dude walked and left but she kept yelling at him. This chick even followed the dude around the building yelling smh crazyyyyy She left the whole store behind and yelling at the dude in her Flame Broiler Tshirt by Dunkin Donuts.... come on seriously! The chick that worked at Flame Broiler was gone like 15 minutes, she finally return back to the store while another employee was inside alone looking out the window for her. My daughter and I are like what the heck??? (My daughter was not impressed) y'all lost a potential customer. Tonight I just had enough and will not be back. I was the only customer in the store........First the place was disgusting! It was dirty everywhere, dirty tables, food on the floor, and food spilled over in the food heating area. It looked nasty and greasy looking over the counter. A lidless fountain drink was sitting on the counter by the cashier (not on the store side) but on the customer side. Second the girl I was talking about earlier was working and she is rude and really lacks customer service not to mention cleanliness. She has major attitude. I corrected her about my order and she mumbled something under breath. Smh Flame broiler you need to do better! Hire people who will represent your company well and provide optimal customer service. Also employees that will ensure your store is clean avoiding any food contamination issues! I will take my hard earned money else where. Advise to people - if you like Gyros the Gyro place next store is the bomb! Everyone is friendly there and the food is great! Check it out! read more

We really started to like this place until we went there for a second time and we paid extra for white meat chicken and we did not receive that and also when we got there they didn't add the vegetables to our order. They had to add it on the side so very disappointed that this happened to a place so close to our home that we enjoyed the first time. read more
