They have no frills or thrills, but they serve very good teriyaki bowls! We came from the far west valley when we were in the area looking for a bowl where each of us was able to select a different type of protein. The serve at the counter was great! We came in on a weekend night with about 1.5 hours before closed. When we walked in only one other customer was walking out with their takeout order. I didn't get a good feeling initially. We order our bowls. The tofu was made to order and took a few minutes. The beef was ready in the steam table and made to my liking. You're able to select your sauce and amount of sauce you want in the condiment area. We were both blown away by the freshness and taste, especially when we were nearing closing time. As we are eating, a steady stream of customers keep walking in. We will be back. A 25+ mile trek just for the bowl is a stretch, but will definitely be back when I am in the area. The sitting situation would remind you of most fast food joints, but it is very clean! Condiment area was well stocked, organized and sauce dispenser was clearly marked with each available sauce. Flame Broiler has always been a favorite of mine going all the way back to when I used to live in Southern California where they are based out of. Pretty much most of them are the same in terms of food quality and portions. Sometimes the service is hit or miss. For this location, the quality of everything seemed a bit off. Case in point. The day I went I ordered what I always order. A Chicken low carb (veggies only, no rice) plate. So I got my plate l and sat down. First thing I noticed was that the chicken was not cooked all the way. I went up to the counter and showed them. They said that they would make me another plate and that it would take about 10 minutes. I get my second plate and this time the chicken was cooked properly but the veggies were still hard meaning, they barely cooked it enough for you to chew it properly. At this point, I just finished my chicken and left. Since I was still hungry I ended up going to King of Gyros next door. Now their steak and chicken was way better than Flame Broiler! I don't usually mention other places in my reviews but I gotta give credit where credit is due. In closing, I highly recommend going to King of Gyros next door. Way better quality of chicken and beef. Their service is great too! Have been there at least 3 times since this Flame Broiler incident. I've enjoyed this place because it's delicious, healthy, and affordable. My wife and I can both get a meal from here for around $16-17. Had flame broiler in the past at another location. Came here late in the for dinner. There was one female worker that seems like she hated life and her work. Passively rude. I order 1 regular half and half. Then I told her I wanted a regular chicken. It looked weird that the second bowl looked smaller, but she was already done making the bowl. I had a coupon which was to be used for similar size. She had a minor fit. At this point, they ran out of chicken and also veggies. Apparently, the cook, was only making them on as needed basis. So we waited for another 10min or so. During the wait, I could here the cashier complain to the cook, that I didn't specified the bowl size when I ordered initially. However I did. Also, If I didn't why would you not clarify and just assume i wanted a "mini" size. Chicken was finally done and veggie were steam so quick, that it essentially uncooked. Now the worst part is after I get home. Been hungry and waiting. Now time to eat. The rice was under-cooked. My friend's bowl, also had the under-cooked white rice, since it was the same batch. This location will need to change their worker and update for quality assurance. Will not come back for awhile to this particular location. PS: I still like the hot sauce. read more

Instead of mission style burritos they do asian inspired bowls. A plate is $10 and a hearty but guilt free meal. Even with the "magic" sauce and tripe sauce. However, I will boast about the ridiculously affordable prices for the quantity of food you get. $1.75 will get you an entire half of an avocado! That's more avocado for less than anywhere else that offers it as an add-on. They also offer an entire vegetarian entree, and you can choose between a carb or a no carb. After ordering, you can find a table and self serve soft drinks (not included in meal). They have a sauce/pepper stationary in the center starting with mild to hot. The fire sauce was not hot at all. They didn't know how to refund or reverse the charges so they had to call someone. They could figure it out so u asked if I can just purchase another bowl and have the over charged amount credit, they didn't know how to do that either so in return, they just gave me another bowl free of charge. I used to eat at the flame broiler in Irvine a lot and it was pretty good. Today I had a white meat rice bowl delivered to me. The large pieces of chicken were inedible. They were slightly undercooked and totally disgusting. I'm hoping that I don't get sick since I did actually swallow the first piece. After biting into another and tasting the raw texture, I started cutting into all the big and found they were all raw in the middle. I'm excited that this chain is back in Tempe. I ordered the Organic Tofu bowl. The tofu was firm and moist, but not soggy. The brown rice was good and soaked up the sauce well. The steamed veggies are standard. My friend ordered the Chicken Plate. She said the chicken was charred well and wasn't dry. We sampled the Magic sauce which was sweet and smoky like a good teriyaki. They also have a hot sauce which reminds me of franks red hot. All in all the location was clean, fast, and served up a good healthy meal after my workout at LifeTime Fitness. About a month ago, one night after I was raving about this place I brought my daughter in. The tall larger frame girl was yelling at her boyfriend in the lobby. The chick that worked at Flame Broiler was gone like 15 minutes, she finally return back to the store while another employee was inside alone looking out the window for her. My daughter and I are like what the heck??? (My daughter was not impressed) y'all lost a potential customer. Tonight I just had enough and will not be back. I was the only customer in the store........First the place was disgusting! It was dirty everywhere, dirty tables, food on the floor, and food spilled over in the food heating area. It looked nasty and greasy looking over the counter. A lidless fountain drink was sitting on the counter by the cashier (not on the store side) but on the customer side. Second the girl I was talking about earlier was working and she is rude and really lacks customer service not to mention cleanliness. She has major attitude. I corrected her about my order and she mumbled something under breath. Smh Flame broiler you need to do better! Hire people who will represent your company well and provide optimal customer service. Also employees that will ensure your store is clean avoiding any food contamination issues! I will take my hard earned money else where.
