If they were slammed I would have understood the dirty floors and have been more forgiving about the dirty tables. The girl up front spent time on her phone on more than one occasion. She did collect the trays piled up in the dining room but did not sanitize them. Just put them back on the pile for the next customer. The guy up front then went to use the restroom. I don't know why this place has an average 3.5 star rating but I like this place and give it a solid 4 stars! I enjoy having Hawaiian food probably at least once a month and this week, since I had some coupons, I decided to come here. I don't come here too often and this might be my 2nd or 3rd time here but it's always been a good experience. I ordered a seafood platter, which comes with BBQ chicken, whiting fish, shrimp, 2 scoops of rice, a scoop of macaroni salad, and cooked veggies. The platter is humongous and I has portions enough for 2 meals. Everything was delicious, so no complaints there. I guess my one wish would be they had grilled seafood vs fried seafood. But, overall, everything, was well made. Rice was sticky and moist, veggies were great with a little bit of salt and pepper and macaroni salad is solid! Overall, a quick fast casual meal option that makes very fresh and good food. There were lots of cars in the parking lot, but the inside of the store wasn't too busy. We ordered quickly and waited for our food. We got a side of battered shrimp along with a pork kahlua plate and a chicken katsu with flaming chicken plate. The battered shrimp was crunchy and an orange sauce that came on the side tasted gingery. The shrimp came on a bed of cabbage that was shredded. I had the chicken katsu and flaming chicken. They came with a bed of rice under the meat. It also came with a bed of shredded cabbage that had some of the ginger orange sauce on it with edamame and black sesame seeds. The chicken katsu was crunchy and the chicken was moist. The chicken looked a little pink. The flaming chicken had a spicy red sauce on it that tasted like it had some ketchup in it. It was moist but had some fat or gristle on it. The kahlua pork was moist and smoky. It was pretty lean. It came with a side of macaroni and rice. I liked the macaroni salad a lot since the macaroni noodles were al dente. The teriyaki sauce tasted as you would expect. The katsu sauce was a little sweet. You can pump your own sauces from the dispenser near the condiment area near the soda machine. There was a lot of seating inside and no music playing. Not too many people were there so it was relatively quiet. In summary, the kahlua pork and flaming chicken was flavorful. The rice and macaroni noodles were good. The cabbage tasted fresh with a nice crunch to it. read more

This is my Mom's ultimate favorite place to be. Their meat is marinated perfectly. Their veggies are always fresh and their macaroni salad is exceptional! One order could feed 2 people. After spending another evening at nearby Pickleball Kingdom, I worked up an appetite and was sure that my son and his friend did too... So, I did the drive thru at Ono Hawaiian BBQ and ordered us some dinner to take home with us. The family meal sounded appealing, so I went that route and chose the Korean Ribs, Teriyaki Chicken and Barbecue Chicken as the protein options... I also added a full salad. It did take awhile, and I felt bad for the drivers behind me waiting, but I'm not sure if they were understaffed or if it was due to my larger order, but I digress :) When we got home to eat, I realized that while I had paid for a full salad, I was only given a small half salad. We all ate the food and as the boys said, it was "mid," which translates to "meh" in my language. We did have plenty of leftovers, so we'll see if we can do another mid/meh meal with those. Either way, I'm glad we tried something new but I probably would not rush back... For what appears to be a version of fast food, I found it a bit on the pricey side and of course, wasn't so great either. Horrible customer service. I placed an order online and went at the appointed time to pick it up. There was no one else in line but I still had to wait over 25 minutes to get my order. I sat at the window for 20 minutes and had to yell through the drive through window to get anyone's attention. I could see multiple employees hanging out talking and playing on their phone. But none of them even greeted me or acknowledged my presence. When I finally got an employees attention I asked him how much longer and he said he didn't know but he said it could either by 5 minutes or maybe 30 minutes more. I asked him to see if he could ask the cook for an ETA and he said he couldn't because he didn't speak Spanish. Then he just closed the window and walked away. About 10 minutes later he came back with my food and just handed it to me and closed the window without saying a word. On a positive note, the food was good. Not being a stranger here in Arizona but having *finally* opened up in the old Arby's location in Tempe, Ono's has been the source of my crew's recent anxiety. Another Ono location! So excited for a location to open up in Chandler. With grand opening day being super busy, this location did a really good job on making sure customer service was top notch and the food quality was phenomenal! I love their Kalbi, but recently I have discovered their BBQ Chicken and it is so good and refreshing with a salad! Island Fire Chicken is spicy and pairs so well with the rice. Just opened today in a converted Arby's on the NW corner of Ray and Rural is Ono. Stopped in to score a plate lunch, which they call an Aloha plate. It is always tough on opening day as they get the kinks worked out but it was busy. One nice thing about their options is beyond the mainstream teriyaki chicken and BBQ beef they offer a series of option including the island fire chicken which was very tasty and they give the option of picking 1 or 2 (80 c more). They do charge 25c more if you want the Mac salad which of course is the traditional choice. I will have to come back another time to try the Kalua pork. Being in the neighborhood it is quite convenient given they have a drive through and an online app to order ahead of time. Part 2: I went back today as when I was scanning the paper menu, I saw they had a Kalbi Plate Lunch (13.99) , it is called #6. Wow, the 3 kalbi pieces were quite generous, this time I swapped out 1 rice for the fresh salad (25c more), it was fine but in hindsight I should have doubled down on the Mac salad, definitely not as healthy, but quite tasty. This location just opened today and it looks like everything is running smoothly for day 1. Inside the restaurant it is very clean and it is nicely decorated. I have been to many Ono locations and I always go for the Island Fire Chicken and Chicken Katsu. Island Fire Chicken is spicy, but for spice lovers out there this is for you. Island Fire Chicken is flavored with spicy red sauce and pairs so well the Ono's white rice. Chicken Katsu is my second favor because of it's crispy texture. The breading and chicken proportion is perfect. Very friendly customer service throughout the whole ordering process. Staff was helpful and patient with questions I had about the menu. Every now and then I get homesick for O'ahu and I stop in to try some Hawaiian cuisine in town. The drive through staff has been friendly, so the service is good. I've not been inside the restaurant but from what I've seen the ambiance is inviting. Shared the Hawaiian chicken which comes with a bed of cabbage along with two pieces of broccoli. Veggies are crisp almost seemed like no steam/food to them. Served with two scoops of white rice and one scoop of macaroni salad. We ordered an extra two scoops because we love their mac salad! It's creamy and has just a bit of sweetness to it. Chicken was grilled perfectly; tender and juicy. Comes with two kinds of sauces...the Hawaiian bbq sauce and a thick dark sauce, maybe a mix of soy and hoisin? The last time that I was here, I ordered a barbecue chicken plate and when I got home, the chicken was raw. I was so tired and irritated as it was another long day. I just threw it in the trash. I had hopes that today would be a better experience. I ordered a family meal and asked about the regular sides. I was told that it was rice, veggies, and Mac salad. When I got home, there was no Mac salad and I had been given shrimp which I am extremely allergic to. The staff at the window seemed like they were not having a very good day and I thought it would cheer them up, so I left a tip for them when I was leaving. I'm going to settle at 4 stars here because it teeters severely but the quality is the teensy boost. Nothing compares to TRUE, traditional island fare, but this is a good option when you're missing or craving. The most common commercial staples can be found here, and for the most part you do get your bang for the buck. It's tough to choose between the decent selection of entrees here. I'd suggest going with a combo so you can try more than one. More than anything, this entity offers a MINI ADULT PLATE! That is unheard of anywhere else!!! And what it means: you can order the same thing as the normal "adult" menu, it just comes in 1/2 the portion. So, you basically get to order the lunch size for lunch price and not be restricted to certain hours but still get the exact dish preferred. It is a single person's dream come true who doesn't want to pay or eat a dish large enough for two. And with that said- they do give you a heaping side of "salad". It's more of a garnish & filler because there's no dressing. But you didn't come here for the salad so my suggestion is stop wasting the greenery everyone throws away & let the entree speak for itself. Because you do get a decent portion of meat. There isn't one I don't like so I'll highlight my favorites: chicken katsu, teriyaki chicken & beef tonkatsu. The meat is tender, the coatings/seasonings are perfect & there is plenty. Plus, props on the sauces! They do not hold out. The rice is a total filler, hence why you get an abundance. It's cheap & you mix it with the meat. But my complaint here is the usual: what is it with being SO stingy on the Mac salad?!? There is maybe 1/4 cup of a scoop... and a side (2 scoops) costs over $5! It is good, but not an expensive delicacy of good. The same goes for the Hawaiian Sun canned juices. Insane- $3 for a can. Hint: it doesn't taste that good & just like it came from a factory. Go to a grocery store & buy better. The pros here outweigh the small hiccups. They are consistent & customer service has always been pleasant. Delivery has also been great- I utilized that this round & found it exactly the same as when I order in person. It's nice you can switch it up with what there is to choose from. Even popping in for a snack of crab puffs or musubi is an option. I do appreciate a taste of Hawaii on occasion when landlocked & this one is pretty reliable. read more

I'll start by saying I'm not a big yelper, and it hurts me to leave this poor review because the food is so amazing here. I've been eating at Ono my entire life and frequented many of their locations, ordering from their Power&Ray location almost weekly during the pandemic. This location is completely different. Employees here are terrible. Consistent issues with communication when ordering inside or at the drive thru, and have been rude on multiple occasions. One time pulling up to the drive thru to see 3 teenagers putting out a "cigarette" they were sharing by the dumpster and run inside, just to wait 45 minutes for a single combo platter. Food quality is super inconsistent, chicken Katsu is soggy one day and then over-fried and too hard the next day. That is if you even get the food that you ordered because while there is not much variety on the menu, they still get it wrong pretty often. I wish I lived closer to another location because I have always loved their food, but I refuse to return to this one on Rural &Ray. read more
