Came here based on recommendations from a couple of friends. Let me tell you, this place is completely worth the ride. First of all the service was great. We got seated quickly by a friendly hostess. The waitress was friendly and followed up regularly with filling our drinks. To start we tried the pot stickers and the Takoyaki. The flavor in the pot stickers was good but what really got me was the texture. They were crispy and firm unlike the dumplings you get some places. The Takoyaki was very tasty. I wasn't sure what it was at first, but the dumpling portion was very light and airy while the flavor of the sauces and the texture of the octopus were perfect. For main courses my wife had the Bebim Bap and I had the Japchae. Both were good but not necessarily great. They lacked a little bit in flavor. The Bulgoki specifically did not stand out. Here's that thing that will keep you coming back though. They serve double fried chicken in their soy garlic and hot sauces. We got a combo pack with wings and drumsticks that were flavored half hot and half soy garlic. It could be argued that this was the best chicken I have had in the last year. The texture and flavor of the crust alone is worth it. And we decided that the wings are the best selection because they give you the most fried crust proportionally. It was so good that my wife just ate the crust if the last piece of chicken even though she was full. Definitely check this place out the chicken is worth it. read more

We went there on a quiet Friday night. Group of 10 people. It was an 'OK' experience. Wings- they were crispy and hot but very salty. I've had wings at their Alston location before but the Lowell location wings were very salty. We ordered 50 wings but could barely get through half. Coleslaw and radish sides- we ordered 50 wings but they only gave us two small sides to share across 10 ppl and two long tables. We complained to the waitress and she brought out two more. She said that was the policy... Oh ok. Calamari- again, salty and oily. Fried rice- it was oily and had no taste. We ordered two orders. Ate only about 25% of it. Salmon salad- it was delicious! Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Service- it wasn't bad but wasn't great. Took our order, dropped our food off, we had to ask for refills on our water (thanks to the salty food), and didn't really ask if we needed anything else throughout service. read more

The food and service were good! I've been here quite a few times and haven't had a bad experience yet. The food has always been really good. The chicken are always cooked perfectly. The wait hasn't been too long. If you order dishes besides the chicken, then you might be waiter longer than you'd normally expect. If you've never been here before, don't be expecting KFC fired chicken. This is double fried, with the meat still moist. The sauces are great. I've really enjoyed the salmon salad and the takoyaki. Now, normally takoyaki is lightly grilled, but here it is fried. It is a different twist to it, and heavier than its real counter part. But it's not bad. The okonomiyaki is OK. I wasn't too impressed with it. Best to eat the okonomiyaki while it is hot. I wasn't a huge fan of the tteokboki. The sauce was bland, and not flavorful to me. Drinks are good. I'm not a heavier drinker, but their cocktails are nice. Our glasses were never empty! The mixed drinks are on the sweeter side. Service has never been an issue. They've always been prompted and attentive to our table. I'd highly recommend getting the chicken, the hot gives you a nice kick. So be prepared! Be advised, Im a Bonchon junkie and i love the food. It literally is the best fried chicken ever. This location is no exception - the Korean style fried chicken comes out hot, crispy and delicious. The soy garlic style is good but the hot/spicy is where the mind blowing deliciousness is at. I've dined in and have gotten takeout. When I dined in, the service was terrible. There was one waitress for the entire dining room. The food took forever that night and when the chicken arrived, it was soy garlic when I had ordered hot/spicy. I ate it anyway because I had waited so long. I had to remind the waitress about my drink order too. I got a courtesy discount off the bill because of the issues but I'm not jazzed about dining in again. I hope they work out the kinks. These chicken wings are completely insane!!! So addictive - the sweet soy ones are sticky and crispy, so perfectly juicy and moist inside - and the spicy ones are so hot that it's hard to finish one, but you can't stop eating it because its so tasty. Get the chicken wings!!!!! read more

Small tight parking lot. Chicken was brought out promptly even though we expected to wait a bit as the chicken is supposed to be fresh and made to order. Unfortunately, this salty overpriced chicken was neither fresh and crunchy...nor was it sauced well. Was supposed to come with pickled radish, came with tiny dish of Cole Slaw. Miso soup was so, so. The pork bun was kinda gag worthy with an overall gamey taste and a big slimy glob of luke warm fat dead center of the tiny pork strip. The only redemption earning 2 stars was the bulgogi fried rice! We stopped in here for a meal before hitting Snowdaes next door. Typically, we frequent the Brighton and Cambridge locations and have not been disappointed with the food though service can sometimes be better. At first glance, the restaurant is a bit dingy, I think this is probably due to the lighting. The wait wasn't bad at all considering it was a Friday evening. Once we were seated, it took a good 15 minutes before someone came over to take our order. The menu has less choices than the Brighton or Cambridge locations. This was ok with us since we wanted to have the chicken wings. We ordered the wings and japchae. It seemed like they didn't have enough servers even though the restaurant was not full. It took another few minutes to get water and I noticed our glasses were dirty. My friend also noted that other tables seated after us got service and received their food before we did. We also had to ask for silverware and napkins as there were none on our table. I didn't want it to ruin our evening so kept a positive outlook. Unfortunately, the food was just ok. The wings were not spicy. The japchae was dry and not spicy, I asked for spicy. It was disappointing. At the end of the meal when we asked to have our food boxed they brought us boxes so we could self-box. No bag was provided. Also the wet naps they provide at the end of the meal were cold. But they seem to be overwhelmed by their popularity: we waited for way too long for the food and so did many other tables, the waitresses were literally running in and out of the kitchen and again, we waited for a while to get our check. I've been to this Bonchon a few times and I really like this place. I read some of the reviews and I don't agree with some of the comments. There staff is polite and welcoming and for people saying the food takes to long to come out obviously if the restaurant is packed of course foods gonna take a little longer but every time I go there no issues at all food comes out hot and fresh staff is friendly what else do you want. read more

Pics looked good online, so we decided to step in. We ordered the pork back and edamame, which was exceptional. You'd think all edamame is the same, but not at bonchon. As avid edamame eaters, we would come back just for that. The rest of the menu was interesting, and we ordered the bibimbop, which was too hot to eat almost for the entire duration of the meal, so be warned. Next time, keep the edamame coming. read more

We had heard about this place from several friends and family members, so we decided we would stop in Saturday afternoon. The food was excellent. Service by Sabrina was top notch. It is small but perfect for us. My wife has indicated she will only eat fried rice here from now on, nowhere else!!! Potstickers were the size of some restaurants egg rolls, the chicken strips were large, plentiful and delicious. The flavor of the chicken was pretty tasty, and maybe I would return if I lived next door. The servers were far from trained, and it was just odd. Constant giggling among themselves when I was just ordering the chicken to go. I guess one was being trained by the other. There was no greeting either when I entered. They just looked at me and kept talking... they didn't even ask me for anything. I had to go up to the counter and wait a bit for their attention. Anyway, after waiting about 10-15 mins in the car I returned to see if my order was ready. I was the only customer that have entered in the meantime, and again, they just looked at me then looked away to do whatever they were doing at the counter. When I asked if my order was ready, there was no response. The girl just disappeared and came back, and I don't recall her telling me to wait for however minutes. Soon, my order was out but I would never dine here. Can't imagine the type of service I will get. Maybe another take out, but I can also go to Cambridge or Allston for that. read more

So I was really excited to try this place because I had my eye on it since it opened, plus I seen really good reviews on the other locations. I called to place my order and to my surprise the menu online is very different from what they offer, no bento boxes or sushi etc. I went with the chicken katsu and my co-worker ordered the wings. The chicken katsu was actually over cooked, as if they fried it and left it out under the warm light for a while, sort of stale. The rice was really bland and they actually didn't even give you or offer you sauces. My co-worker on the other hand had order bonchon chicken with french fries but got coleslaw instead. My wife and I were craving chicken wings tonight so we placed an order through GrubHub for 20 wings and fries. I expected delivery to be a little slow based on what I had read. Estimated delivery time was an hour and fifteen minutes after we placed the order. We waited an hour and forty five before we called to check on the order and the very helpful person who answered told us to call back in 15 minutes if we didn't get it since the delivery person was out. It was 20 minutes later when our food finally showed up, a full 2 hours, 10 minutes after we ordered and an hour after the estimated delivery time. Probably should have checked the food before he left but we didn't and the fries were legitimately fresh out of the fridge cold. The wings were at least almost room temperature. Based on the print out from the restaurant, the food had likely been in his car for an hour and a half before it was delivered. They were likewise not helpful when we called back, offering us 50% off a future order from a restaurant we'll never patronize again. read more

Honestly I love BonChon a lot more than Crave, but after today's visit I'm not sure whether or not to ever come back. We ordered the strips to go and the radish came with the order. So we decided to order coleslaw on the side also. When we got home and opened the coleslaw there was a smell of alcohol coming from it. Wtf people don't make coleslaw with alcohol. So I tried it anyway thinking it would've been fine and somehow it was just the smell. No it tasted like rubbing alcohol. I called the manager and she said they make their coleslaw fresh the morning of before they open and they package each one ready for to go orders. Later she changes her story and says they sometimes make it the night before. Either way I told her to check the rest of the coleslaw to make sure they don't smell like alcohol. She never said she was going to check, so no guarantees the customers after me aren't going to be getting some nasty alcoholic coleslaw!! read more

I built a shed with the boys and stopped here after. The wings, Fries, and pork belly buns all A1. Impeccable service as well.

Best wings ever! We got the soy ginger wings and they are spectacularly delicious. We also got the house bilgogi fried rice and it was the best fried rice we have ever had. Daughter got a salmon avocado ball which is the size of a baseball, and she ate the entire thing herself as wife and I aren't big on salmon. We also got the chicken sliders which were very good although not at the same level as the other 3 items. Service was efficient and friendly. We will be back for sure. If it wasn't an hour away we would go every week. read more
