Honestly, everything about this place can't be beat for comforting American Chinese food!! I only ordered takeout, but here's what I loved: 1. Prices are amazing for what you get (Lunch specials 11am-3pm), especially in this economy. $13 total with tax gets you a full entree + your choice of pork fried rice, fried rice, or white rice + an appetizer of your choice + a soup or drink. This was a complete meal that you can easily have leftovers of. 2. The speed of service was great too, food was ready in 10 minutes from when I called and was fresh! 3. There is a very accessible parking lot outside, made it easy to pull in, get food, and leave. 4. The lady at the counter was very nice from picking up the phone and taking my order to handing it off. 5. They provided as much sauce, utensils, and napkins as you requested, no cheaping out! This definitely my new favorite Chinese take out. The only dish I go for is the General's Chicken with fried rice. I love how the sauce for the chicken is so sweet and with a smidge of a kick. The meal does come with 2 sides. Didn't know it at the time, but Coke counts as a side. The 2nd being crab rangoons. Can't recall how it tastes because the General Chicken comes out piping out and I sometimes forget and burn my tongue. I was disappointed with my experience. While dining here, I asked to use the restroom and was told there isn't one available for customers. I also requested a glass of water, but they said they don't provide drinking water--only bottled water that customers must purchase. If you're considering eating here, keep in mind that they do not provide a customer restroom or complimentary drinking water. I consider myself an American-Chinese food aficionado. I base each restaurant on the staples that most people order and also order additional uncommon items. On top of that I add instructions such as "well done" or "make the sauce spicier". Lu's got my order exact and the food is really unexpectedly high quality for a typical American-Chinese spot. I ordered the general gau dinner (general gau extra crispy), and it was done perfectly. Hot and spicy fried rice is really amazing. Not that spicy but it tastes so damn good! Sichuan peppers and tamarind flavors are really bright which is a nice alternative from your traditional fried rice (a must try). Sichuan dumplings are great, but I really wanted more Sichuan pepper flavor in it. The dumpling wraps are egg based and have a great bite to them, not mushy at all. Chicken wings and eggrolls were spot on. The eggroll could be more well done, was under cooked. First visit and I can't wait to taste the menu!! read more

Family-owned and run and the portions are very generous. I love the shrimp and mixed veggie lunch special; they don't skimp out on the good veggies! Second time this year and the last. Why oh WHY did they ever make the change ? They were great when they were Timbo..... Took 1 hour for delivery , even though the child that answered the phone said "as soon as possible" when I asked how long for delivery. Fried rice was under cooked and flavorless, boneless spare ribs were like burnt shoe laces, gai poo low mein was only a small order (most places use a large) and filled with mostly mushrooms, the biggest let down was the beef teriyaki, hands down the worst I've ever had, thin and tough like jerkey. And all the food was barely warm.. To top it off the driver was a total jerk, I politely greeted him and he didn't respond, just handed me my slip, I added a tip and signed it, he took it and walked away .. jerk ! I will now go back to China Mountain in North Chelmsford. It's much, MUCH better.. I was hoping for a second option from time to time but sometimes it's best to stick with what works and what's good. This spot is pretty good; I may or may not come here again. The combo plates are a little pricey for the portions. I've ordered from many Chinese places before where combos were under $10 and portions were bigger. The food is not too greasy which I like, but the fried rice is not flavorful at all. The vegetable soup probably has the most flavor out of anything! Spring rolls are good but 2 small ones for $5 is not worth it. I used to live nearby and LOVED Timbo's. I was in the area and thought I'd stop in for lunch. To my surprise, Timbo's is now Lu's. So I ordered up my regular meal and waiting. Still received table side delivery from the kitchen but oh no, wrong order. I expected chicken fingers and beef teriyaki on a stick but received chicken wings and chicken on a stick. No worries, I like that too just not what I ordered. Anyway, you get 8 big chunks of chicken thigh on a stick with a delicious marinade. The wings were nothing to write hone about, just fried in a wok. The boneless spareribs were great. They had a slight something extra in the sauce...yummy. Goodbye Timbo's, hello Lu's. Well, after 3 price increases within 10 months (and not by only .20 to .40 each time) but over $1.00 +, won't be going back anytime soon. Ok so this place won't blow your mind, but the Chow Mein here is out of this world. Chow Mein is an outdated dish very popular in the eighties and as an Asian growing up in USA I loved it. Great food. Shrimp with Lobster sauce is A+. The fried rice is great and the chicken teriyaki on a stick is delicious. Good Lo Mein and the Peking Rav's are superb. Young family owners and operators. Food used to be good when this place was called "Timbos". Maybe I caught them on a bad day today. But there's a certain bar that it shouldn't go below. I ordered a "dinner for one plate" that included General Gau's chicken, pork fried rice, chicken wings, and boneless ribs. The broccoli that was served with the Gau looked like it barely survived a drought and the boneless ribs looked more like fries from the way it was sliced into thin slices. I've had beef jerky that had more life to it than these dry boneless strings. Is it to much to ask for $12? I feel like Chinese food has taken a steady dive in the past 15 to 20 years. Have all the good chefs retired? Leaving behind owners that only know how to turn a key to a restaurant but no pride or knowledge of what good food is. If the owner is reading this. Worst Pork Fried Rice ever. Very dry, seemed like it had been recycled and reheated over and over for several days. We decided to try Lu's for lunch on the recommendation of few others. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The menu is your typical Chinese food fare and the resturuant is small and simple, more like a diner but none of that was why I marked it down. I have first called this restaurant, a lady picked up the phone... she spoke like she does not care for whatsoever. I have visited the restaurant shortly after and ordered food. Didnt like the place so i ordered take out and ate them home. I ordered ma po tofu, shumai, and pad- thai. ma po tofu was alright... not the best food judging from my experiences but it was alright. The problem was in Pad-thai and shumai that i ordered from this restaurant. Pad-thai smelled literally like someone's foot and it tasted gross as well... (i enjoy lots of asian food traditional and american asian foods and have lots of experience this is not certainly how it should taste like!!) shumai had 8 in the container and they were not great either. tasted like typical frozen food... Very dissapointed with the food here and this will be first and last time i will order from this restaurant. read more

This is our go-to place for inexpensive Chinese food. We use online ordering and have never had a problem. Loved that they delivered, but has since gone away with Covid. Don't mind picking up being that we live 10 mins from the restaurant. We enjoy the egg rolls (order as an app, if they come in the combo meal they can be soggy), general Tso's chicken, lo mein, scallion pancakes just to name a few. read more

Above average Americanized Chinese food. I usually get this for my daughter (and mostly appetizers), since I prefer authentic Chinese cuisine, but this is a very solid option. The dumplings, wings, crab rangoon, chicken/beef teriyaki are all very good. The orange chicken is pretty decent, as well. This is a family owned operation, and often two very young daughters are running the register. For standard Chinese food, I'd rather patronize this family business than the shiny "upscale" establishment in town, where equivalent dishes are bumped up $6 because of the "ambience". read more

Very good Chinese food (especially for the 'burbs) and we've never had a mediocre dish from them. We usually have our order delivered and the service is prompt and friendly. My 90 year old father in law definitely likes their food, as do my wife and daughter (and me). One gripe however - on their webpage (http://luskitchenchelmsford.com/) there is a link which supposedly let's you place your order online (that url is actually www.beyondmenu.com). So I set up the order, typed in the delivery address and got a message "Delivery not available to this address"! Very strange, since Lu's Kitchen has delivered to our address many times in the past. I said "screw this", called their phone number as usual and placed our order with no problem. Pretty much the same food as when it used to be Timbo's, no changes it seems. I think they should have kept it named Timbo's for name recognition (someone asked me once though "What's Timbo's? An African Elephant place?) the food is seemed hasn't changed at all. I always get the 22B (now called the D22 B) and it's gone up a few dollars since they opened, (9 to 12 it seems) but the food is good. The D22 B includes chicken fingers, 2 teriyaki, brown pork fried rice and some boneless spear ribs. I seem to like the old school rice Chinese places had when I was growing up, brown with soy sauce, that a lot of Chinese places are getting away from in favor of bland un-soyed rice, not at Lu's Kitchen! read more
