Wee Thai Food is a local restaurant with great food, ambiance and service. There is a nice bar with lots of drink options on their menu. They even make pretty mocktails! Wee Thai Food recently merged with Shabu Shack so now there is an option to also have hot pot. We tried the coconut shrimp, lemongrass bao, chicken wings, Thai basil fried rice and tofu drunken noodles. They were all delicious but I will say the drunken noodles were my favorite! Low key Thai joint on the main drag that is Route 110. More abbreviated menu than most, though they do have a decent number of appetizers. Note: Wings no longer on the menu. No parking lot, but I've been able to park easily every time. Note in colder months they're a little stingy with the heat. Also note that service is not a strong point. Several mistakes (including meat in vegetarian items ordered but not entered correctly). Khao Soi: One of my favorite renditions, with tenderness chicken, soft and crispy noodles (even though they forgot the crispy last time), striking the perfect balance of thickness, light sweetness, and spicy punch in the broth. I could drink the stuff. I'd love it on wings. Hot Basil Chicken (Pad Krapow): Another very good rendition, always extra soft in the crumbles and still juicy, with the most notable aspect that it's spicier than most. Egg is included as standard (most places charge). Not a huge portion. Pad See Ew: Pretty standard treatment for this noodle dish; nothing special, but well executed and high quality noodles with a little chew rather than mushy. Nice spice if you want it. Fish Cakes: Appetizer of four rubbery cakes and a delightful sauce (more of a salsa) to spoon over them. Off texture, good flavor. Dumplings: Delicate and fresh, with many fragrant and spicy sprinklings on top. Very light. Bao Buns: Tried a few times and never thought they were worth the money. Not as fresh and not that substantial. Better put into alternate items. With a little more effort, this place could be a 5-star gem. Too often it hovers around 3, though much more often 4, so 4 it is. It's the kind of place that's much better suited to a quick, 1-course lunch than a linger-and-explore-the-menu meal. But it's quick, simple, good, authentic, and hits the spot. read more

My friend and I went to have a late Sunday lunch around 2pm and I was craving Thai food. Upon reviewing what Thai food was around locally my friend suggested this place so we went to check them out, especially since they had a wide variety of food including hotpot. We were greeted, seated and orders taken quickly. We had the chicken wings for our app, my friend ordered the Thai chicken noodle soup, which she enjoyed but said it was lacking chicken and I had the pineapple fried rice. The food was good overall. The pineapple fried rice I ordered had a few ingredients I was not used to like raisins and dried pork so I requested those be omitted. It was a little confusing to find as the restaurant name is kind of hidden and many of the windows are covered or painted black. There was plenty of street parking which is always a plus. Wee Thai Food has been a great foodie addition in the Lowell area. They are a Thai casual eatery. However, not limited to only Thai eats, they expand their menu to things like tonkatsu ramen. In addition, there are rice dishes, stir fry, curry, and more. They have the space for dine-in and pickup options. And looks like it's street parking around this area. Spicy Dumplings- Steamed pork and veggie dumplings in chili oil. Topped with fried garlic, cilantro, and green onions. Any time we think about ordering from here, this is always a must for us. Crab Rangoon (5)- Deep-fried wonton filled with cream cheese and imitation crabmeat. Once in a while, I crave these and they tend to hit the spot. Creamy and crunchy. Beef Loc Lac Plate- Stir-fried diced beef served with salt and pepper sauce and topped with a sunny side egg. Savory sauce with chewy beef and fresh onions. My fav from them. Khao Soi- Wonton noodles in yellow curry with chicken, pickled mustard, red onion, dried chilies, scallion, and cilantro. Flavorful and delish. Overall Service: I've only ordered them through Ubereats. Everything was packaged neatly and sealed tightly. They made holes in the containers to prevent condensation and sogginess for fried food. Wanted yellow curry. My normal spot was not open so I saw this place and got the Tom yum creamy. This wasn't really a curry dish I don't think but it was delish. Had shrimp , tomato's , fish balls, noodles , mushrooms etc . I was cold and this warmed me up nice. Also got the Thai iced coffee which I've never had which was also good. But pricy at around $5 I was the only one inside. After shout $23 ( 15 for the soup) and 5 for the drink plus tip wasn't too bad. It was good but didn't stand out as amazing. The name is fitting.. What a WTF experience. We ordered wonton soup but were told they were out, so we chose Tom Yum instead. When asked if we wanted it clear or creamy, we picked creamy. Without telling us, they changed it from an appetizer size to a dinner portion and then insisted that's what we ordered when we questioned the difference. We also ordered Surf & Turf, which was supposed to include seafood and chicken. We only received the seafood. When we asked about the missing chicken, they claimed it doesn't come with chicken--yet they still charged us for the full dish. We had to ask them to adjust the bill. To make matters worse, I later received a credit card alert showing that the tip on my bill had been increased from 18% to 31%. After looking into it, I realized the restaurant never processed the tip my friend left on her bill and instead added her tip amount onto mine without asking. This was a frustrating and shady experience. Go elsewhere. read more

It was an awful experience overall. We were the only table at the time. While we were waiting for the shabu broth to come out, one person ordered beer and the other just water. It took them 10 mins to serve the beer and the rest of the people never got water until we asked. Shabu combo plates are overpriced for what's really included. They didn't bring the big spoon and sift that are necessary for shabu. We saw them on a table and went get them, then staff was upset that we did that by ourselves. I got the beef pad see eww, my mother got the basil thai fried rice, and my father got drunken noodle. All of the dishes were very good. I really enjoyed my pad see eww, although the broccoli was rather on the hard side. Our waiter was very attentive and the vibe of the restaurant was amazing. Stopped in for lunch today. They didn't have Penang on the menu so I went with Red Curry. Light on the spice and it seemed a lightly watery, but it was very good. Super nice people. Had a lovely dinner on a quiet Tuesday night. Got here around 8pm and understandably the place was empty but they still had a few take outs. We were hungry and ordered our food right away. Thankfully the food came out pretty quickly as well. For appetizer, we shared the Chive Pancake. It was delicious- crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. For mains- we shared Basil Fried Rice and Khao Soi. The Basil Fried Rice had an amazing taste and had a slight kick to the dish. The texture however was okay. The rice was too dry for our taste and had a bit of a crunch instead of being soft. The flavors otherwise were really good. The Khao Soi was 5/5. We ordered it with fried Tofu. The soup was super flavorful, thick and creamy. It was perfect! The ambiance was casual yet had a cozy vibe to it. The service was nice and we did not feel rushed at all. If I could give negative stars, I would. Such a bad business owner with absolutely zero business skills and customer service. Upset about a $13 plate of food and complaining about not being able to feed his children. We dined in for lunch, ordered our food (4 items total) all was good until the basil fried rice with beef that I ordered came. I took one bite and I knew something was wrong. The smell alone had me wanting to gag. It honestly smelled like it was spoiled. I told the waitress who seemed to have an issue, and basically told me I could order something else but I would have to pay for the rice. She ended up calling the owner and basically was holding us hostage until he arrived. The owner was very confrontational, accused us of wanting a free meal, and basically said too bad and this will put him out of business. The waitress, was extremely unprofessional and said "oh I can order 10 burgers and fries somewhere, take a few bites and say I don't like it give me a free meal". This is not what happened here and it's so wrong for them to accuse us of this when we are paying customers who didn't like 1 item out of many that we ordered. The owner then threatened to call the police on us because of that $13 plate of food. I ended up calling the police myself because it was not about the money but the principle and he was being VERY hostile. Police came, completely understood where we were coming from, but also understood the business side of things. The cop agreed that this was not good for business and he's so focused on the $13 he's not looking at the big picture. The police officer had enough of the nonsense and offered to pay for the dish himself which was so so kind but unnecessary! I said I will pay and will never be back. After ALLLL that the owner ended up taking the rice off after all. So much could have been avoided if he just swapped out my plate for something more enjoyable. I could have been a return customer and spread the good word about their business but instead I have nothing good to say and will never be back. I will let everyone I know not to frequent this establishment read more

Food is solid. This is probably our 4th time here. Every food weve ordered has been good and I havent had much to complain about. It's a small joint but they follow good covid protocols...masks, glass shield dividers for servers etc. Keep in mind it is small and I'd it got crowded I would feel a bit uncomfortable eating there. Good flow of customers. I've gotten their curry, padthai etc and everythings weve got has been good. Today we wanted to try their ramen even tho it's not a japanese place bc it got pretty good reviews. For a non-specializing ramen place located in lowell I'd say it was pretty tasty and wouldnt mind getting it again. Broth is good. Also got the tomyum creamy rice noodle soup. Amazing! Would love to get it again. Their shrimps r large in size and big chunks of mushrooms! Great flavour!! Tip: we always get thai ice tea cus its sooooo good. Love it love it!! Can't say all Thai food, because ramen is Japanese, and the pork bun style is Taiwanese, on top of their classic pad Thai, Most of their menu is pretty good, especially beef loc lac which is delicious!! The noodles were mediocre at best and the egg wasn't seasoned or marinated but the broth and veggies held up. The crab rangoon was amazing 4/5. Bao was a little stale but the filling tasted fresh. My Partner liked the takoyaki but She doesn't eat quickly usually so take from that what you want. Service was fast, food came out very quickly with higher quality. I'm a bit on the fence with this review. It's a cute little place to enjoy some authentic food. The waitress/hostess was so kind. It definitely felt like a family run business. There were seven of us dining at lunch and we were the only people in the restaurant, so keep that in mind. We each had our separate orders. It is one of the only times I've ever seen a dish come out on its own basically every 4 or 6 minutes. So the first guy was done as I was getting my dish. It was very sporadic BUT I completely get it and understand why. It was one person making the food, seemed like the dad/owner. Serving it fresh made the most sense to me anyways. Just be prepared that this may be the case if you dine here so try to plan on not being in a huge rush and really taking the time to enjoy the food. The ramen I got was lovely. I asked for extra spicy and it wasn't too overpowering. Noodles were pretty small, sort of like angel hair. They also were a bit difficult to bite as they were sort of chewy. The shrimp were large, fish balls were great as well. I was pretty surprised to see cherry tomatoes, I've never had that in a ramen before. Quite hopeful that Wee Thai Food will own this space long term. This is the 4th restaurant to attempt to operate here. It's very nice inside and looks very clean. The only way to accomadate 4+ customers, you would have to put tables together. We came in early enough to get the only table that fits 5. My objective was the thai boat noodle since my hair cutter hyped it up for me earlier in the week. To me, it's like Pho, but added with other meat and the broth is mild. Would have been nice to have more broth because I felt like the contents of the dish absorbed too much, too quickly. This place is a hole in the wall because the location is on a very busy street. The service is great. This is the type of service you want whenever you go to a restaurant. Shes very kind and alert. I can say a lot about the food, but you just have to come here and make your own opinion about it. The only thing i didnt like was that the thai boat noodle bowl was in a small bowl and needed more soup ! The pork bun tastes so good ill definitely come back for more ! The place is small its good for small groups. I usually don't come here because its on a busy street and on top of that it has more than a few owners.
