We came here for lunch after hearing about their great and authentic Lao food. It's a mix of Lao and Thai cuisine which has a nice mix of sweet, spicy and savory plates. Loved the salads / apps we got including the tapioca balls stuff with pork and peanuts and the crispy rice salad with chopped Lao sausage. They were both served with a variety of fresh lettuce and herbs which really helps to balance the heavier starters. We also shared the whole fried pompano with steamed veggies that was really nicely fried with a crispy skin and tender meat inside. I really like the spicy Lao-style tomato sauce they served on the side as well. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for a unique flavorful meal. Good filling to wrap ratio, real crab meat used! I would order those Everytime. If you like the sweeter style filling this isn't it. Laarb seen, was alright the beef and the flavors were as expected but not memorable for me, the protein portion was a bit light for our dish. Kowpoon noodle soup, flavor was on point almost like a Bun Mam. The noodles for us missed the mark, the lady ended up scrapping the noodles on a spare plate. I didn't care for it either. Didn't have good chew, felt overcooked and soggy by time we got it. Beef padsee ew! Yes yes! Great dish, nice noodles, good brown sauce and beef was tender! Lanxang Star Restaurant serves authentic Lao & Thai food and I've been wanting to try Lanxang Star Restaurant for a LONG time now but I don't frequent this area often anymore. I happened to be nearby today though & finally got to give their food a try! We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant. Their menu has a lot of Thai & Lao food options. Here's what we ended up ordering: - Crab Rangoons - Laarb Seen/Lao Beef Salad - Kowpoon/ Laotian Curry Noodle Soup - Beef Pad See Ew - Thai Iced Tea The crab rangoons were delicious! I love crab rangoons, in general, BUT these tasted unique (in a good way!). They use real crab meat in their filling & you can definitely taste a difference. I can see why this is one of their most ordered appetizer! Next, we tried their beef laarb. This was also yummy & tasted fresh. It had a good amount of cucumbers, fresh herbs, and good cuts of beef! I'm used to having laarb with ground beef or ground meat & I preferred the style I had today! Came with fresh whole Thai chili peppers so we could adjust the spice level to our liking. Now on to the entrees! I had the kowpoon/Laotian curry noodle soup & I'll be honest... it was not what I was expecting. I went in thinking that it would be similar to the Thai curry noodle soup dish Khao Soi but it tasted much lighter. I personally didn't enjoy the noodles because they were kind of soggy/overcooked. I typically like al dente for all noodles & couldn't get myself to eat more than 3 bites. I ended up taking all the noodles out of the soup & put it to the side on a spare plate. Also, I've never had this dish before but there was little to no protein in this dish, just bits of shredded chicken that was mixed in with the noodles. It was essentially a coconut curry broth with some vermicelli noodles though. For the pad see ew, we really liked this dish! It had very good flavor & noodles were perfect. Overall, I enjoyed the food we tried today at Lanxang Star! Generous portion sizes, great prices. & everything was packed with flavor. Only thing that I wasn't a fan of was how the noodles were more cooked than I would've liked. I'm not sure if this is how the dish is intended to be served & enjoyed though. I came here after a morning of berry picking at the nearby farm and Lanxang was amazing. This is located in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking inside. There are several tables inside, but it can get busy. Even though there might be a small wait for a table, people usually get seated within 10 min. The inside was what you can imagine of a mom and pop shop. The staff here was very nice and attentive. The food was the best part. I got the drunken noodles and it was seasoned well. I did ask for medium spice and it's a slow burn, so if you don't do spice well - get a mild spice and add additional sauces which are on the table. I can't wait to come back! My sister in law recommended that we tried this place for dinner. I'm always down to eat Cambodian, Thai, Laos food. Restaurant felt like a local neighborhood spot for local families to come in and have dinner. About 9-10 tables. I called ahead and informed them that we had a party of 7-8 coming in. Food 4/5 - it was my first time having Nam Khao at a restaurant. Other previous times have been home made. I'm not sure how I feel about paying $19 for this dish lol it was a good portion but a little hefty. The wings were good but I still prefer Simply Khmer. My wife had pad thai and requested it to be extra spicy. In our experience at other restaurants, when you ask for spicy, it's never spicy. Lanxang does it spicy and we quickly figure that out lol it still packed a good punch of flavor! Overall, I would come back to try their other dishes. Lanxang Star Restaurant in Dracut is a great choice for Thai and Lao cuisine. This modestly sized space is decorated with authentic Southeast Asian art that adds to the ambiance. The menu is impressive and we had a hard time deciding which way to go. We finally settled on the Laotian-style sausage to start. Most importantly, I had a delicious and very flavorful fish in a spicy lemongrass sauce. The generous Haddock filet was crispy on the outside and fresh on the inside. This is one of the first places we tried when we moved here, and is stil one of our favorites. They have the old standby Thai dishes, but the real ticket are the Laotian dishes. The Laotian curry noodle soup, all the larbs and larb adjacent dishes, the tapioca balls etc are fantastic and unique. If you like spicy, they do it for real here. I can eat almost anything and normally order maximum heat level wherever I go, but 4/5 is all I'm willing to go here. It's the real deal. They even sell their own home made chile powders and sauces (cash only for the condiments). They have a full bar, and the service is friendly. We were passing through town and saw the great reviews. The outside is very unassuming but as soon as we walked in, we knew it would be a great spot to grab dinner. It smells amazing! It was busy with customers inside and online orders but the service was friendly and we got our food fast. It was hard to decide what to order because everyone's dishes looked phenomenal. We ended up going with the pho noodle soup with beef, fried dumplings, and Kat Na Mu Krob stir fry. It was great to add all the additional toppings that come with the soups. Laxang Star is a restaurant located in the town of Dracut, Ma. It serves Thai and Laotian cuisine. Also, it is located in a strip mall with ample parking. I would describe it as a rather small hole in the wall mom-and-pop kind of restaurant where families and locals go for either dine-in or takeout orders. I would not make the pilgrimage unless I had business in New Hampshire since it is far far north of Boston. As mentioned previously, the restaurant serves Thai and Laotian cuisine. The menu is labeled so that you can differentiate which dishes are Thai and which are Laotian. I ordered two appetizers, two salads, and a shrimp Pad Thai. First, the most popular items on the menu and Yelp, I would say, is the Laotian stuffed tapioca balls. The center is stuffed with ground pork, peanuts and radish wrapped in tapioca dough. It is served garnished with fried shallot and dried chili peppers. It is eaten wrapped in lettuce and comes with a sweet tamarind dipping sauce. This dish is unique with the sticky tapioca outer and crunchy interior. This was probably the highlight of my meal. If in the area, definitely give this appetizer a try. The second appetizer that I ordered was the crispy shrimp rolls which was from the Thai menu. It was good, but not the best I have had. The ground chicken in the shrimp roll was rather dense and whereas some of the better ones I have had in the past was juicy and less dense. As mentioned earlier, I ordered two salads. The yum seafood salad and the Larb Laarb Seen Salad (Laotian beef salad). Of the two, I prefer the beef salad though I had to ask for extra lime to make it more acidic. It could probably use a little bit more fish sauce too and some Thai red chilis. The yum seafood salad dressing tasted like processed bottled seafood sauce instead of fresh made sauce. If it wasn't for the sauce, I would have enjoyed the seafood more. I find the sauce too sweet and artificial tasting. The shrimp Pad Thai was standard, also not memorable. I would say stick with the Laotian menu. Overall, service was good. There were two other parties dining in when we came for lunch on a Sunday. A slow restaurant with not too much foot traffic. Also, dark interior. I didn't find enough to have me dying to come back to try more dishes. 3.5 stars. read more

Just so good. The Lao restaurants are among the best of what New England has to offer. The tapioca balls--chewy, filled with just a little pork and radish, with a plethora of garnishes--are something we order every single time, and the first thing we finish because the texture is worsened by time. The nam khao lao is another constant order: crispy rice, a little preserved pork, lots of herbs, chiles, peanuts, lime, more herbs and lettuce leaves to assemble little wraps. This is one of my favorite foods in the world, and has replaced papaya salad as the thing I will order anywhere it's available. As leftovers, it keeps fine, except that you lose the textural contrast: that crispy rice stops being crispy after a few hours. But it still tastes amazing; I've had more than one breakfast of leftover nam khao. The only problem with ordering those two things every time is that the flavor profile is pretty similar to everything in the "salads" section of the menu ... but it's all good, too. I'd say unless you have a large group, don't order multiple things from that section, because it's basically the same flavors dressing slightly different things (papaya, cucumber, noodles, shrimp, etc). Papaya salad is usually my go-to, but we got the combination salad most recently and it's great. I was born in Boston, so I order crab rangoon more often than I can really defend, but you know what, it's chock full of crab here, and that justifies it. (Add some of the chile oil though.) And the chicken wings are more than worthwhile: crispy outside, juicy inside. I know, chicken wings should always be that way, but nine times out of ten they're an afterthought. This is the tenth. Add some chile oil or drag it through the papaya salad. The Lao sausage! Holy shit. Why is this so good? I had to stop after three pieces today, it's so rich, but with this tanginess that ... I don't know how many people in New England are going to get this ... reminds me of Lebanon bologna of all things. I kind of want to put some on a potato roll with mustard and pickles and hot sauce. I've barely scratched the surface of the entrees, because I'm just full after all this, but I have yet to order anything that I wouldn't order again. Go get some Lao food and then get some ice cream at Shaw Farm if you overspiced yourself. And if you're way out in Nashua ... like way out, where there's no way you could get this delivered, right? like it's way too far, that would be silly ... guess what, they're on Uber Eats. Tip your driver twenty dollars, this isn't a Domino's run. read more

First of all we knew this place was authentic when we walked in and chicken feet was one of the specials. We ordered beef larb, papaya salad, shrimp rolls, kowpoon soup, Thai coffees, and purple rice with custard and mango. My husband really liked the papaya salad and larb at medium spicy. The shrimp rolls were good for what they were. Next time I think I'll get the fried spring rolls - I missed the noodles. The Thai coffee was very good. We brought home the purple rice for the kids. They said the mango was the best part. The kowpoon soup broth was good but the chicken was mince meat. Made for some strange texture. I usually make it with chunks of chicken. Also no quail eggs. Idk why but I always like them in my kowpoon. The service was good - friendly and fast. There's parking and the restaurant is clean enough and almost big enough. The prices were a little high but no more than other places these days. We had plenty of food to bring home for another meal. Overall we'll come again. read more

So this was the first place I went to try Thai food in Lowell because of the reviews and pics on yelp! BOY WAS I NOT DISAPPOINTED! The beef pad Thai extra spicy was incredible. Top 3 EVER pad Thai's I've had and I've had some amazing ones. The mixed noodles just absorb the thick rich sauce with an amazing kick to it which always lets me to test how spicy and authentic they are. This is a must go place for Pad Thai and best part is it's 10$ + leftovers. I can't say enough about how good it was. Next time, I'm trying the panang or red curry! stopped by here for a very late lunch last saturday. we got the stuff tapioca balls as our app. entrees were nam kao lao salad and a curry noodle soup.. drink was thai ice tea. the tapioca balls were as i remembered.. this is one of my favorite dishes. i love tapioca consistency and textures. i also love that fresh veggies accompany the plate. the nam kao lao salad was something new for me. it was really tasty,, the texture was nice and crunchy. personally i would like the dish to have been warm but i guess that's how it's served.. plenty of fresh veggies accompanied the dish, which was awesome.. the curry noodle soup dish was really delicious. there were different flavors with a fish base sauce in it. a small plate of mint, cabbage, lime,, and other veggies came with it on the side. the thai ice tea was nice and strong without the overload of sugar, which is what i like. definitely be back to try other dishes... read more
