Consistently comes through with variety (monthly specials, deep menu, getting deeper), value (lunch specials give you about 3/4 of a full entree plus the soup, app, and rice), and ease of use (every item is pictured on the online menu; huge parking lot; plenty of seating). Consistency of quality (texture, flavor) is less dependable. -- Hot and Sour Soup: Thick without being gloppy, filled densely with mushrooms, and hot in both the spice and temperature meanings. Simple and satisfying. -- Fish Filet with Green Sichuan Pepper: Had this one again and had the same great experience as described in the previous review. Thin broth but jumping with flavor. -- Twice Cooked Pork Belly 回锅肉 : A longtime favorite with instantly recognizable pork flavor, accented with black beans, and the added light crunch of leeks. It's a great combination. Tried twice during this cycle: once just right, once too fatty. -- Shredded Pork with Tea Tree Mushrooms 肉丝茶树菇 : A late August 2026 special with tender squiggles of pork balanced with sturdier "branches" of mushroom with an earthy flavor and a firm octopus-like texture. Nice balanced savory flavor without any need for heat. -- Sichuan Kung Pao Chicken 四川宫保 : A reliable standby when you want something with heat and flavor, but your dinner companions are not so adventurous. Very tender, a little sweeter than the "American" version and without the celery, but still authentic. -- F10 Fish Fillet in Chili Oil Sauce 水煮鱼 (on a lunch combo): This dish that I often get at night gives you nearly as much quantity on the lunch special, with a choice of soup, choice of rice, and choice of appetizer. Soft, tender boiled chunks in a bright red bath with a pile of red peppers and garlic on top (easy to remove anything you don't want), with cabbage and sprouts underneath. Spicy and best had in winter, but too good to skip in summer. I didn't get the promised numbing sensation this time, but it's a potently flavorful dish and one of my favorite renditions. -- Chicken Wing: Single whole connected wing included with a lunch combo was extra large, breaded, and very crunchy and juicy. No marinade flavor inside, so duck sauce was necessary. -- D03 Crispy Boneless Duck with Vegetables 蔬菜炸鸭 : Large platter of mostly duck, all of it with skin on, and most of it-- but not all of it-- crisp as billed. Minimal vegetation, which is a plus in that it maximizes meat but a minus if it's the only entree you're having. Simple flavor with a simple, thin brown sauce. Satisfying, but average. Interestingly, a taste from a friend's lunch special version of this dish a few weeks earlier had a lot more crisp, a lot more juiciness, and a lot more oomph to the sauce. Might depend on the day. -- F19 Crispy Sweet & Sour Fish Fillet 松鼠鱼 : Twin filets of fish, each about 10" long, boneless, extra extra crispy, and with fish within thin but still tender. The sauce was your typical Polynesian style fire engine red, with more sour than sweet, but nicely done with peas and without glop. A bit pricey but voluminous enough to provide plenty of meals and plenty of value. -- T06 Spicy Dry Pot Tofu 香锅豆腐 : A sauce less dish where the slices do the heavy lifting. Tofu triangles comprise about 80% of the pot, each one dark brown and a bit dry and over cooked. My wife, who's a tofu lover, said it was like chewing on rubber. The ledger shows mixed results from dish to dish and even from visit to visit for the same dish. But when they're on, Sichuan Palace is fabulous enough for a 5 (and some visits are 5). Plaza Parking Great place for a sit down Chinese food place with good portions and prices. They have a large seating area with tables for smaller and large groups. They have a big parking lot although it took a weird turn for me to figure out how to get to the street. And my car did get in the lot so just a warning for that even though the lot was basically empty somehow my car was struck ‍The service was great, they were attentive and were pretty quick to get all food. For appetizer we got the crab rangoon and beef rolls which are both with a good sized portion although the crab rangoon was more heavy on the cream flavor. We got the large size of the hot n sour soup and the portion was a lot larger than expected for the price of $6. The noodles were a little let down, lacking some flavor this was both for the cold noodles and beef soup. The mapo tofu and the sichuan chicken were definitely my favorite, the mapo tofu had the perfect numbing flavor that I love. read more

Wanted an authentic Chinese food and this place was quite good. Started with dumplings with hot oil - good garlicky flavor. Then, West Lake beef soup - the bowl was huge; this was okay, I've had better. Then BF had the beef with broccoli, he enjoyed it and I loved the twice-cooked pork; it's the first time I tried it and I loved it, thin slices of pork belly with lots of scallions, it was full of flavor. Then the bok choy with shiitake mushrooms, it was bland. Overall, it was a good choice and the prices were reasonable. Service was attentive. Worst server ever. If you want to be scooped by your server. This is the place to go. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup and asked to have that less spicy. The food is amazing, service is great, and price very reasonable. Ordered their authentic Chinese dishes are pretty good. Knocked down one star for the staff being weirdly rude. We got take-out and realized rice wasn't included, went back and ordered some rice. Ended up getting attitude about how we should've told them ahead of time we wanted rice. In my mind, when Chinese dishes don't come with rice, it is up to the staff to ask if you want to order it. With that said, dishes were good: - Twice cooked pork: Probably one of the better versions I've had, has a really good kick. - Cumin lamb: Cumin flavor wasn't overpowering with a good amount of spiciness. - Shredded Pork with Oyster mushroom: Needed a dish for the kids that wasn't spicy. The dish had good flavor with the shredded pork being cut/cooked a little bit differently than I am use to but in a good way. Also never seen Oyster mushrooms cut into a slivers but it works! The amusing part is seeing a complete 180 in demeanor when she starts talking to customers in English and is super nice. The scallion pancake / beef roll was pretty good. Everything else was quite average. My friend said the food (crispy duck) was a step down from previous experience: not as crispy or tender as previous visits. He also said they had a little "shrinkflation" Nothing we ate was bad but nothing would make me need to come back. The thing that really stuck out was the service. Once we got our food, the waitress did not come back: no refills, no follow ups, and we went to the counter to pay. My friend tried to get her attention several times to get another drink. Food - the quality and freshness of their dishes is superb and excellent flavors. The Chicken wings seem expensive, but they are large whole wings, (easily enough for two). Only positive critique we'd add for consideration is to increase shrimp size in house dishes (lo mein or fried rice) to make it stand out more but flavor is excellent, like traditional fresh cook Chinatown restaurant! The hot dry fish is now tiny heavily breaded pieces that are bland and taste like they're dipped in a cornmeal batter then fried in oil that's not hot enough, resulting in a heavy, greasy, tough bite. However some food fell short on taste and presentation. Salt and pepper shrimp was coated in sweet cake batter not very much salt and pepper or jalapeños. We were out for a Sunday drive looking for adventure... our intended destination was closed, so we searched for "chinese food" and the GPS brought us to Sichuan Palace. Located in a strip mall, we were skeptical at first. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the food. Service at the bar was a little slow, but it was a Sunday afternoon so we cut them a little slack. Scorpion bowl for one was.... WOW. Let's just say I didn't drive home. Because we had plans for dinner, we just ordered an appetizer to tide us over. The wontons with chili paste were delicious, and just like they sound (the wontons used in soup, with some chili oil and flavorings.) We looked over the menu and were amazing by the variety of both American-style Chinese food and the authentic dishes that were available. The food is always piping hot and delicious and the service is great, esp. for takeout. Most of the one-star reviews are just people asking why the restaurant is closed (construction, if anyone was wondering), so that's awkward. Anyway, in short, the food here is god-tier. I come here with my parents pretty much whenever we eat out. It's also entirely legitimate Sichuan food (some dishes are technically more from other places, but they're the ones you usually find at Chinese restaurants so it's not a big deal). Personally, my top three are the following, but pretty much anything is a safe bet: -水煮鱼 (fish filet in chili oil), a salty-spicy dish with the most tender and fresh fish you've put in your mouth. -担担面 (tan tan noodles), a hot, spicy noodle dish with ground meat. I've had a lot of tan tan noodles, and theirs is among the best. -凉面 (cold noodles), a sweet-and-sour (and a little spicy) noodle dish. Yes, you eat the cucumbers and green onions too. Most portions are very large family-sized, with only a few appetizers and noodle dishes being smaller (but easily sufficient for one). I'm so sad I can't eat here anymore, and I'm taken with grief as I try to find anything even close to this godly place. I am now in Austin, TX and have not found anything even near as good as this place. Our go-to's were: hot dried fish, hot dried chicken, crispy duck, Dan Dan noodles, kung pao chicken (Chinese style), sichuan green beans, or Peapod stems. All so amazingly delicious (the first 3 are very spicy so don't order if you can't handle the spice)! Staff are friendly and bartenders are awesome. Miss you guys! read more

If you are looking for some authentic Sichuan food, here is the place to get it. Of course knowing what to order though. I frequently come here about 1 -2 times a month just because I crave for that one thing that they make very well here. That is called "fei-tang-yue" (I am very sorry as I do not know the English name and I am not Chinese but will pronounce this and they understand). It is served in a hot pot bowl with flames below. Very spicy flounder fish with tofu and bean sprouts. When I say spicy, I am telling you it is VERY spicy. The only problem with this dish is, it is very oily and some people do not like all that oil. I enjoy it with a Tsingtao beer to settle the spice. If you are a fan of pork, definitely order the appetizer pork and garlic. (another warning is do not plan on going on a date after to the movies because your breathe will be kicking of garlic).
