This is now one of my all-time favorite French cuisine options in Denver. While others may complain the service takes awhile, the European culture is reflected in that way. We have been wanting to try Bon Ami for a while! During COVID, it is especially nice that they have such an inviting outdoor space! We only had a bottle of wine (happy hour daily until 6- all bottles of wine HALF OFF!) and a few starters. Wine was very good! We ordered a Kir Royale as well- which was a bit too sweet- so less cassis next time! The fries and the aioli are to die for- crispy fresh and the garlic! The salmon was to die for. A good friend indeed. I needed a French restaurant for mothers day dinner. It had to have something on the menu for a picky child. Bon Ami delivered a nice plain steak frites for my daughter. The adults ordered a number of the french classics, including, steak au poivre, sole Meunier, and the Pâté Maison. All were properly executed and very good. We've eaten here twice now and had excellent food and experience both times. It's surprising that this French restaurant isn't better known, but I'm okay that it's a little secret gem. This is a great place for a nice casual or celebratory meal. We recently went for Mother's Day and mom was very impressed! Our family of five enjoyed every single thing we ordered, and we got a ton. Magnifique! What an ADORABLE low-key French creperie and bistro. My partner and I came here for a casual brunch over the weekend and were very impressed with this unpretentious gem. The quality of food is superb and we both left feeling very happy. Food/Beverages: We appreciated the warm sliced mini French bread with butter and marmalade that was brought to us while we were perusing the menu. We ordered the Pate Maison and the Stroganoff crepe, which was enough to fill both our hungry stomachs. The pate was hefty-sized chunk of rich deliciousness, and the servers brought us more croustinis when they noticed we were low. And although I really don't like mustard, their mustard was something that I enjoyed pairing with the pate. The crepe was filled with large, meaty chunks of beef - more than I usually expect, so big win there. The sauce was so delicious that I cleaned the plate with extra bread just to eat it all. My partner's bloody mary was generous and he very much enjoyed it; the garnish was large and a lot of fun. We cannot wait to return to try all the other delicious-looking items on the menu! This place was absolutely wonderful for brunch. The crepes are out of this world, so filling you only need one! We had the prosciutto and Brie crepe which was covered in a lovely white sauce, I ate it so fast we couldn't take a picture... They do offer sweet crepes with fruit but they are on the desert menu and mercy are they fantastic. The strawberry and tres leches was stellar. I picked up carefully packaged - two orders of Beef Bourgeois, French bread with butter and two amazing bottles of French wine (1/2 price wine bottles during Quarantine) It was divine! There is a loading zone in front of the restaurant. I called in the order. It was ready and bagged on the counter. It took minutes inside the restaurant. I noticed they wore gloves and masks. One member of the staff was dutifully wiping down the door handle, pens, and counter. It was reassuring to see such care. We typically visit Bon Ami on a regular basis for dinner with clients. Horrible food. I can't believe this place has such a high average rating. I ordered the steak frites and it was hands down the worst piece of steak I've ever had. Seriously. Ever. I'm counting cuts I made for myself on my George Foreman Grill when I moved into my first apartment and had no idea how to cook. The cut they served me was sort of wedge-shaped. I asked for medium rare. The outer parts were well done and the middle was cold. And it was so tough I could barely cut it with a steak knife. I ate about half of it and I regret even that much because I was up half the night with a stomach ache. The fries tasted like they came frozen in a bag. My husband ordered the pork medallions. His plate was swimming in sauce and the pork was super tough. I think this place must use grade D meat. The service was strange. Our waiter seemed uncomfortable and awkward doing most of the service stuff. He did push for us to get a side of vegetables and a salad, implying that these things didn't come on the entree plate. The exact salad I ordered was included in a small portion with the steak frites. The only good thing about this experience was the half price bottle of wine we got for ordering before 6pm. read more

The waitress is attentive and checked on us multiple times throughout the meal and she was so pleasant. For starters, we went for restaurant week to try somewhere new so maybe they respect their clientele more during regular business. When we sat down we asked about the happy hour menu and were told that you can't do the happy hour menu and restaurant week. I asked if one person could do restaurant week and the others can order regularly and we were told yes. So half of our party ordered from the restaurant week menu and half ordered from the normal menu, including the happy hour menu. After some of the dishes come and the mussles didn't come with fries we asked why, since the menu said they would. We were then told that if anyone at the table orders from the restaurant week menu, no one else at the table can order from the happy hour menu. This was very frustrating to be told after a different dish came when you were expecting the one you ordered, but fine, we had a misunderstanding. It could have been overlooked if anything else about the meal was good. Our service was not great, it took an hour and a half to get our entrees, we sat with no bread at the table for an hour of that, and the server seemed annoyed that he had to serve our table, which was awkwardly right by the door, when the rest of the restaurant was on the other side of the bar. The food was ok. I would say it was nothing special. Though again, I noticed that some of the pictures of the dishes we ordered on Yelp look different than the ones we got. Our serving size seemed very small. If they are going to change the size of the dish for restaurant week, they should let patrons know so we could order off of the regular menu. We way overpayed for meh food, disappointing service, and small quantities. We use restaurant week as a way to try new places that we can add to our standard outings. I have a new favorite restaurant!! I have no idea how Bon Ami has not come across my radar but I'm so grateful to have found it (thanks to my Bestie for taking me)! Let's just start with how CUTE this place is and while we were unable to dine inside, their heated patio was wonderful and so cozy! It really added to the just the overall wonderful experience we had eating here. So the food - AMAZING!! Seriously, nothing short of truly awesome. We started off with the French Onion Soup and it was so incredibly cheesy, the caramelized onions were delicious and the flavor was just perfection. While we waited for our soup to cool, we shared the Prosciutto and Brie Crepe - yum!!! If you're a Brie person, this crepe is literally drowning in it. Delish!! Now, the entrées: Lamb Chops Provençale and the Steak Frites. These dishes were fantastic!! The lamb chops were fall off the bone tender and the sirloin was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor (that melted fin herb butter though?!). Add to the night the extraordinary service, the incredible wine selection and an order of the Bananas Foster for dessert, the night truly couldn't have been more perfect. We recently went here for our anniversary as my husband loves the sister restaurant- la merise. We started with the mussels in white wine sauce which are one of our favorites from this restaurant group. I was craving French onion soup so we got that as well - lots of cheese on top which is the best part. The soup itself was a bit salty but still good. We were pretty full after our appetizers and could have stopped there. For dinner I tried the stroganoff crepe. It had lots of beef inside and the mushroom sauce plus sour cream on top was yummy. I had dinner here last night with 3 other friends and will not be coming back. It's a shame because it could be a delightful standard on our list. The food was very good and the young man serving us was outstanding. But it didn't take long for me to start counting the minutes until I could leave. We were seated at a table along the windows in front of the bar. Two of us had to sit on a window bench that had no support for our back. We are all in our 80's and need a chair with a back. We gave the chairs to those with back pain. I just have a weak back and short legs - I kept slipping and couldn't sit up straight. I asked the hostess for another table and would have waited for another one to be available, but she was just brusk and said she couldn't do anything. It is also very, very noisy. We had to yell to talk to each other. And the woman working behind the bar had a loud, shrill voice. Delicious brunch! There was no wait on a Sunday afternoon. FOOD + The St Louis crepe was creamy and cheesy! It is a very large crepe and the eggs in it makes it even more filling. I would've like the egg a bit more cooked since it was still runny. However, the crepe overall was good. + My friend got the ratatouille crepe - it was light and rich in flavor. Veggie lovers would really enjoy this crepe! They don't have the sweet crepes listed on the main menu, they were listed on the dessert menu. Got here at 9:00 AM when they opened on a Sunday. Great staff, sat on the patio which was well shaded and very comfortable. Two of us had the cordon bleu crêpe and it was absolutely fantastic. My husband and I spent some time in France and all he wanted for Father's Day was a French omelet and escargot. For a regular run-of-the-mill breakfast breakfast this place was good, but we would not call it French. The escargot is shelled, which is fine, but the sauce is very heavy and overpowering. The dish does not come with any type of bread, we asked for some when we noticed it didn't come with any. Very, very disappointed in this restaurant! We have been there several times before, the food is phenomenal, nice and cozy inside, and the wait staff are friendly. But, upon our last dining experience, I would give it a complete thumbs down. Our reservation was for 5 PM, we showed up at the door at 5 PM. It was locked. They did not let us in. Finally, the bartender came over and opened the door and we were taken to our table. As we were hanging up our coats and within seconds, the hostess came over and told us we had exactly an hour and a half to finish dinner and then we needed to leave. Needless to say it ruined the whole experience for us. I understand what it can be like in a busy restaurant, as I have worked in one myself. But, getting the news of sit down, order something, eat it and get out really stinks. Very, very, very disappointed. Will seriously think about going back or not. If she hadn't mentioned anything, we probably would've been out of the table in or around the same time so the next patrons could sit down.
