My first time trying and I got the Spiced Honey & Garlic 5pc and original 5pc. It was incredibly crunchy, which was great. However, I expected more flavor and for it to be more savory rather than sweet. It leaves an interesting after taste after, which I didn't like. The chicken were good after the first wing or so, but then the flavors just started not tasting the best. Although crunchy, there was just too much batter that I began peeling it off. The honey-garlic chicken I thought was going to be a wet sauce over it, instead was a sauce that got hardened/caramelized and was a bit too hard to chew. I did not eat in person, as this was a takeout delivery, so I can't really rate the inside of the space or the staff at the establishment. However, the food did come out fast.
Really solid and unique chicken spot. The chicken is fried really well so the it's super crispy. The chicken is also really juicy. As for the dipping sauce, I highly recommend soy garlic. I tried the umami BBQ but it didn't taste like BBQ - more like a not spicy buffalo sauce. I also tried their tofu and it has the same crisp as the chicken. The biscuits with spiced honey was also pretty good - you could taste the anise (?) and cinnamon from the honey and the biscuit was a perfect vessel. Overall a pretty solid spot for chicken. Benefits is that there's a parking lot and it's relatively quick.
Bok a bok is a must visit Korean fried chicken joint. I overdid it and had to sample thighs two different ways and a half dozen wings with a bunch of different sauces. I ate everything and couldn't move for over an hour. the thighs were very good but the wings in my opinion were better. It seemed like the wings were brined and the thighs weren't. I could be wrong. The guy at the window was fun and helpful he even cheered me on about being my 500th diners drive inns and dives visit. He hooked me up with a couple extra sauces. The chicken was wonderful but the rice bowl was the surprise. It was amazeballs!!! So thick and filling with sticky rice and cheese sauce plus that loose runny fried egg on top. That's the sleeper hit, don't skip the dirty rice bowl. Loved this place even though it's a walk up window it's not lacking any ambiance. The funky mural on the wall keeps you entertained while waiting for your take out. Bravo Bok a Bok.
Food - Full disclosure I know this is a chicken restaurant and I am a vegetarian - this review is with all that in mind and context. The fries were really good and so was the kimchi Mac n cheese. The tofu was ok. I liked the jalapeño cheddar wet rub, and my companions loved their chicken. They all agreed the chicken sandwich was the best option. You can order to your table next door at The Runaway. Service - They brought out all the food promptly and it was well-packaged. Love the agreement with the Runaway! Ambiance - We were at The Runaway, which is a punk bar and they brought it over so I can only attest to the awesomeness of trivia at the runaway while we get food brought over.
I want to give this place a 3.5 stars! Cool window order and pick-up only. Takes about 5-10 minutes depending on what you order. The order comes out piping hot with a good amount of juiciness and crisp of the fried chicken. All sandwiches come with fried chicken thigh. My partner had the fire sandwhich and I had the umami bbq. I thought it was on the sweeter side even with the bun. Both sandwiches had a spicy kick. The Umami has great Asian earthy flavors, you can definitely get a good taste of the basil. The buns are great, they hold everything well and they remind me of Hawaiian rolls but much more dense.
A hole-in-the-wall spot tucked into the heart of Cap Hill -- they have an ordering window and the food comes out for pickup fairly quickly. They tend to get busy pretty much ever night, but it's never a long wait! They have lots of daily deals including a BOGO mac n' cheese on Mondays and Taco Tuesdays, among others. I stopped by for a quick dinner and they have a surprising number of vegetarian options for a chicken spot -- feel free to take my review with a grain of salt, as I'm here mostly for the Fried Tofu and Kimchi Mac and Cheese. Fried Tofu: A yummy, filling, and flavorful snack -- the sauces were SO. GOOD. Kimchi Mac: Nothing too special, IMHO. The kimchi was good, but the mac and cheese itself wasn't too crazy. You could probably re-create this at home. I would totally come back again to snag a sandwich -- you can sub most chicken items for tofu and their sauces are delish!

I ordered for pick up, standing at the window. The cook sees me and ignores me to keep talking to the guy on the window. Guy at the window ignores me until the conversation is over. I got the dry franks red hot wings and they're extremely salty due to the powder. Each wing is caked in it and inedible, I don't think they tried them before they put them on the menu. The fries are unseasoned and there's nothing but small bits in the package. Not coming here again.
Crunchy chix sandwich made by this hole in the wall establishment. It was ok, however, the fries were awesome - a light crunchy outside covered the soft potato inside. The rice bowl w kimchee and poached egg was not worth eating. Mostly white rice topped w an odd cheesy sauce and poached egg.
tried the Sesame Soy Garlic Sandwich and The Firecracker Sandwich and chicken 1 PC OG THIGH. the fried chicken sandwiches were good but the buns get pretty soggy with the amount of sauce they put so eat it right away. there is an order window and sandwiches takes about 10 mins. they're open on labor day and no line!
I consider myself a fried chicken connoisseur . I love well seasoned juicy chicken. I have debated folks about whose wings are better and all sorts of other fun conversations. So that is the context for my comments about Bok a Bok. I LUV BOk a Bok. Here are the things I love - 1. crunch- the batter makes the chicken super crunchy on the outside 2. Yet juicy- the crunchiness doesn't at all take away from the juiciness. Have you ever but I to a crunchy and dry piece of chicken . Yuck!! Not here 3. The sauces- one such variety. From sweet to spicy and everything in between- they've got you. 4. The Tots tho- tots!! Yes tater tots. Well seasoned with the option to add sauce. Mmmm mmmm good Not everyone in my house agrees but when the choice is mine- it's Bok a Bok everytime.
Better then chick-fil-A *spicy chicken sandwich 4/5 *chicken strips 4/5 *fries 3/5 -Spicy Chicken sandwich is a real sandwich that will actually fill you up. Nice big juicy chunk of chicken with the right amount of breading and just super moist. The spices make it pretty hot but not crazy overpowering. That kind of chicken sandwich that has enough chicken that comes out of the bun and really feels like bang for your buck. -chicken strips are nice and crispy with enough breading to give you that real chicken strip crunch and nice seasoning to the batter. -fries were pretty average but I guess you don't come here for fries.

Quick stop at Bok a Bok after craving fried chicken and it was a good choice! Got the OG with some tots and it was a good pair. My partner ordered one of the sandwiches but he agreed that chicken directly is the way to go next time. I tried the umami BBQ sauce - I preferred the chicken without it but look forward to trying another sauce to pair with the chicken! Service was pretty quick. You order at the window and before we knew it, it was ready for us. No tablesnor seating available (not sure if it was because there was an event going on) but didn't mind since we took it to go and enjoyed the nice weather. read more
Bok a Bok is a small walk up window with no seating inside or out. The location, near the corner of Pike and 10th has a huge downside - it's less than 50 feet away from a gigantic mound of garbage that I've never seen cleaned up. The smell of rotting trash isn't the most amenable to good eats. Luckily, there's a boba shop across the street to get drinks at and sit down to eat. When we walked up for a late lunch at 2PM, we were warned that they were working on a huge catering order and the food might take 15-20 minutes to come out. We decided to stick with it anyways, and hope for the best - it turns out they that overestimated the time, so we were out in under 10 minutes. Sesame Soy Garlic ($11) - Starting with the star chicken - woah, totally different from most fried chicken. The batter, made from a mixture of vodka, rice flour, and cornstarch (per DDD), has a really hard crunch, much harder than expected. It's the firmest crunchy fried chicken I've ever had, bar none. Not enough to shatter teeth, but getting close. They use chicken thigh but they seem to trim the skin off, then fry it very hard, rendering it kind of dry rather than fatty and moist. There's a thin layer of chicken right under the dredge that's dried out and very tough. The interior chicken shreds into layers that aren't easy to chew through due to how dry they are. The sandwich includes crispy onions, but they get lost due to how crunchy the chicken is. The menu lists kale and lemon aioli, which I don't think this sandwich included. Instead, they use mixed salad greens and they slather it with two different sauces - one that's kind of peppery, creamy but runny, and another that's more savory, salty and sweet. The flavors all meld together well, but I think the chicken needs a bit of work. (4/5) Garlic Lovers ($11) - Woah, this sandwich is an explosion of garlic. It's like eating pure creamy roasted garlic, such overpowering but very pleasant garlic flavor. That's honestly all I can taste in this sandwich, paired with the same piece of fried thigh and buttery bun as the other sandwich. Very tasty with all the same drawbacks. (4/5) Biscuit with Spiced Honey ($3.75) - This biscuit is very dense, dry, and not flaky even though it's clearly a layered biscuit. It's not salted and not buttery in any way, instead tasting mostly like the base grain and rather alkaline. It's difficult to eat by itself due to how dry it is. Luckily it's served with spiced honey. The honey is sweet and is mixed with plenty of warming spices, almost tasting like a holiday mulling mix. (2/5) My feelings on Bok a Bok are mixed. While the fried chicken exterior is extremely crisp, the tradeoff seems to be a tough, dry, and stringy interior. The flavors are good, but the texture is not. There are a lot of fried chicken sandwich places on Capitol Hill and while this one has a unique concept, I'm not sure I would visit again. read more
Used Bok a Bok for our 25 people bowling event at UW. This was such a great experience. We were able to order online. I called the store and they recommended what to get and how much to order. We had a constrained budget but actually went under budget and had plenty of leftovers. More people came to our event because we advertised there was Bok a Bok! I which they still had a location in the U District because it was a little tough to drive there and park- but it was definitely worth it. The wings were amazing and everyone raved about the kimchi Mac n cheese! read more

This place sucks. I've been here before and their food was average. Yet this time it really sucked. TLDR: I got an $8 salad with $5.25 chicken thigh protein, they never gave me the chicken. We got to-go. My friend got a new classic chicken sandwich and I got a hearty green salad for $8 + chicken thigh protein for $5.25. When I opened my salad box, I saw no sign of chicken. I though it was buried deep down (the box was shallow so that would mean they didn't give me much chicken thigh), but there was literally not even a shred of chicken when I started eating. I called their number yet no one picked up. The auto voice told me to write an email for any complaints. Yea, sure, by the time you respond to my email, an egg probably already grows into a full-fledged chicken. My friend also disliked his chicken sandwich, which was soggy and greasy. read more

This place exceeded my expectations! At first glance it's literally a hole in the wall, and doesn't look particularly authentic or appetizing. But we saw they had Taco Tuesdays, where it was buy one get one free. We thought, we'd give it a shot, not expecting the tacos to be anything special. Turns out, the tacos were LOADED with stuff, and it was B1G1! Very pleasantly surprised. The chicken wings that we got were also tender and flavorful. Though they did take a long time go come out with our food, I would still come back here next time I am craving fried chicken and/or tacos! read more

Had to come here since Guy Fieri himself made a visit on DDD but it was pretty mid. Everything was fine and would prob be a good drunchie but I don't think I'd get it again with the other kfc options out there. I tried the Bowl o Shame ($17) and the Sesame Soy Garlic Sandwich ($10). Note that I did order through Uber eats so I think it def had a negative impact on the quality of my food. I felt like the fried chicken coating was kind of chewy and the soy garlic sauce was just really sweet and not really garlicky. The lemon aioli and kale were unique additions to the sandwich but I felt like they didn't complement the soy garlic much. It felt like slightly lemony sugar on top of the sugary sauce and the kale was overly wilted. The chili sauce on the bowl of shame also wasn't spicy and it def shouldn't have been $17. read more

Ordered fish sauce wings and Chinese mustard wings this time because the staff recommended it. I think the fish sauce wings are okay however the Chinese mustard tasted completely horrible especially the after taste of it. It tasted very strong and created a kinda bitter and weird after taste which me and my friend didn't even want to finish it anymore. I would recommend the fish sauce or the original ones with dipping sauce. Their kimichi Mac and cheese are always really bomb! One good thing about this place is they made their wings really crunchy and freshly made. read more
So many good things to be said about Bok a Bok. If you want chicken that stays crispy and crunchy even after the delivery/takeout process this is a great spot. My favorite flavor is the fish sauce caramel - salty sweet and sticky, really really good. It's also hard for me to get chicken here without getting at least one other side/dish. I love the kimchi Mac n cheese and the dirty rice. Mac is saucy and creamy and flavorful. Even if you're not a big kimchi person like myself I'd still recommend trying it. The biscuits are to die for with the spiced honey - basically a dessert! I never regret ordering Bok a Bok! read more
Nothing beats a hot yoga session than an even hotter chicken sandwich from Bok a Bok Chicken. Right after I took a flow at the SweatBox, I walked my sweaty butt over to Bok a Bok and ordered their spicy chicken sandwich and kimchi mac and cheese. The sandwich was fire...literally! Those serrano chiles nested on top of the red chile aioli kicked up the already hot sandwich but it still had plenty of flavor. I swear I should've ordered two of them. But I also had the kimchi mac and cheese, and that went really well with the spicy sandwich. It was creamy and had that tangy kimchi kick that I really love. Unfortunately, I only had one day in Seattle because I would've come back the next day and try other things too! read more
I had high expectations of this place because of the Guy Fieri stamp of approval, as well as their own proclamation of calling their fried chicken, "The best they've ever had". The texture of the chicken was for sure great, there's no doubt about that. Whatever process they are using makes the chicken crispy on the outside as well as juicy on the inside. I think that if I were just served a plain fried chicken thigh from here, I would have been very impressed. The issue comes from the sandwich itself. The sauce was pretty decent, but there was a serious lack of it anywhere to be found on the sandwich. I searched far and wide through my takeout bag in hopes of discovering more, but there was none to be found. If I'm ordering a bbq fried chicken sandwich, I expect that bad boy to be fully submerged in the sauce of my choosing, covering my hands and face while I'm eating it. There was an incredibly small amount of whatever toppings were supposed to be on the sandwich too. I think I actually found one single spinach leaf in my to-go box, and none of that was on the sandwich (not sure what happened there). The fries were sort of a miss as well. I was excited to try out these Korean seasonings that were mentioned on the menu, but I think all that was on there was just a little salt. You really have to come harder than that if you're gonna serve crinkle cut fries, which are the cream of the crop when it comes to potato products. read more

Pros: -Chicken is super crispy and crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside. -The wings were a decent size. The tenders, however, were HUGE! -I liked the kimchi mac & cheese. It had a nice kick of flavor from the kimchi, all while maintaining the ooey-gooeyness from the cheese. -They do take-out orders (which I would recommend!) -Overall, I liked it enough to come back and try other things. Cons: -Sauces were underwhelming. The soy sesame garlic sauce was very watery and didn't want to adhere to the chicken. I think it would be better if it was some kind of glaze. The Korean BBQ sauce was okay but nothing special. The ranch was the most disappointing of them all. I was hoping it would be something special, but it was very bland and didn't have any flavor. The chicken also needed the sauces because I didn't find it to be seasoned enough to be able to enjoy it on its own. -The biscuit looked way better in the videos than it actually tasted. The honey is spiced with 5-spice which was... interesting. -The food took a long time to come out. It was kind of deceiving because there was only 1 person who ordered before us, but they were busy with take-out and UberEats orders. -Parking can be a challenge if you're driving. read more

This place is definitely for take out. They have a small window for you to order and pick up. Originally came for wings and they were sold out. It was only 5 P.M. when we arrived. I ordered two thighs one original and one spicy. They also give every chicken order a choice of a sauce. I can usually eat spicy food, and to put in perspective, usually level 4 out of 5. The spicy chicken was so spicy that I ended up with three cups of water and was full by the time I finished the two thighs. My friend got the chicken tenders and to our delight the pieces were very large. We unfortunately did not like the honey sauce though. The chicken was moist but was lacking flavor for the honey tenders. The order was called out within ten minutes so they are very fast. It's a good place to get a quick fix for chicken but definitely on the pricier end. read more

Fairly tasty stuff. Prices feel reasonable. The Kimchi Cheese sauce is far and away the most notable highlight of the menu here to me. Goes well with the the crinkle cut fries, pretty well with the wings, even the Kimchi Mac and Cheese benefits from having extra of the cheese sauce put onto it. The Kimchi Mac was pretty but lacked a little richness or something to tie it together, just seemed a little underseasoned - adding cheese sauce felt like a big improvement to me. Or just adding salt. Trying their Biscuit with Spiced honey was pretty fun, it held up pretty well on the ride home, simple flavors but effective. The flavor of the honey seemed predominantly like, anise-y, so if you don't like the taste of liquorice you may not be a fan. On the other hand, for $3, if you already know you like biscuits and honey, it's not much of a gamble. The "sesame soy garlic" sauce definitely had a distinct sesame flavor that set it apart from pretty much all the other soy garlic wing sauces I've tried - I wouldn't go so far as to say it was *better* than all those other sauces, I think I would've liked it better had it been just a little more viscous and rich. Didn't really cling to the wings all that well, and it didn't quite hit the "sweet and savory" bar I expect from soy garlic sauce. Service cashier was nice in making recommendations as I wanted wings with a special spicy sauce on side. The full wings are cut in half so really you're getting 5 pieces or 2.5 of full wings. No tips! Nice hot crispy skin snd moist chicken. The fried wings with without sauce is very bland. Not much flavor tonight just for a fried wing. Definitely needed some sauce. I had their hottest red sauce which had a nice chili bite. Otherwise chicken by itself...just okay...That's too bad... Seems to be cooked to order! I waited 15 mins.
