I've got to say that this hot pot is EXTREMELY uNdErWHeLMinG There was a good amount of pork belly but for the ingredients that they claim to put in each hotpot (pork belly, green zucchini, fish tofu, fish cake, tempura, rice cake, enoki mushroom, fish fillet, wok noodles, lobster fish ball, crown daisy, seaweed and nira) they only have one of each in the hotpot or maybe none at all. For my hotpot I didn't get any fish fillet and my wok noodles and rice cake were so soft and soggy Also, at the bottom, there is just a bunch of soybean sprouts to make the hotpot look PLENTIFUL so lowkey it's a scam... Personally I think crown daisy tastes NASTY, I thought it was arugula at first and I took a big bite into it and I literally wanted to die cuz it tasted THAT bad I don't really like chinese chives and Japanese nira taste similarly so I didn't like that either. However, all of that is personal preference. The service at boiling point was good though, the waitress was attentive, refilled our waters, refilled my broth and she was really kind I would recommend going to boiling point but I DO NOT recommend getting the korean bean paste hot pot. TL;DR Good food, bad service Had been contemplating going here for awhile now when the right opportunity came up...and it did! Firstly, it took FOREVER to flag down any sort of service or server, despite absolutely spamming the service bell and the one at the adjacent table when nobody came. By CHANCE, a server was going to retrieve a stroller and we were able to flag him down to take our order...unbelievable lol. I ordered the beef soup (11.99). The broth itself was very tasty and rich...and its consistency was kind of granular and reminded me a bit of ramen. There was a good deal of sliced beef and surprisingly, it was very lean! My favourite other ingredients were the beef balls, the bean curd and the fish cake as they all absorbed the yummy broth! There were also imitation crab pieces, enoki mushrooms, a slice of tomato, squid discs, and part of a corn cob. The lunch combos come with a choice of either an iced black tea or iced green tea. We came in on a Friday around 5:30pm which was a good choice because we only had to wait a few minutes before getting our table. When we left, the queue for tables was quite long already. We were a group of three and ordered Beef, Japanese Miso and Seafood. All the orders were pretty good and tasty and portions were quite good for the price. Flavours were spot on and we all loved the garlic soy sauce on the side. I ordered beef in mild spicy but it was scorchingly spicy. I'm not quite sure if they put in too much chili or if the beef is spicier than the other variants available. My fiance loved their wintermelon tea and the free sample of the lemonade with basil seeds was pretty good too. Ambience: No longer do you have to fight with others to get your name in! Upon arrival, you can get your wait # via a touch screen. It also tells you how many tables are ahead of you. This place is a popular Asian chain; my boyfriend told me that it reminds him of Hong Kong. The restaurant was packed, yet surprisingly I didn't find it noisy. Best for small- and medium-sized group of friends. Service: We were quickly greeted and had our orders put in. Since the table had just enough space, of course, I had to drop my chopsticks... like a kid... next thing you know, a waiter handed me a new pair, and the waitress helped pick up the ones on the ground. Honestly, I was impressed with their superman-speed, tag-team effort. Food: We got the (mildly spicy) house special and lamb hotpots. Very tasty and, be warned, also very salty. The house special's got all the Asian ingredients like fermented tofu, pork blood and pork intestine. I love the boiling point in Richmond despite its slow service sometimes. This place is much more spacious and it looks pretty nice inside ! I came here with seven others for a get together; seeing that it just recently opened and probably hired brand new staff, service being slow was expected and was really not too big a deal. The hot pots like Richmond were tasty and on point, so were the shaved ice (mango and chocolate) I want to give it a 4.5 but ill round up. Being a huge fan of hotpot, Boiling Point is my favourite place to go for hot soup cravings! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the restaurant is nicely decorated with modern fusion furniture and wall designs. I've had a few discouraging experiences here but the food and service makes up for it, hence the 5 stars. I'll address the cons first. The first time I was here, their debit/credit machine was broken. As a restaurant that does not allow split bills, it was kind of annoying to pay the right amount without the right amount of change. The three times I've been after that, their debit card machine has been working. The last time I went, my friend ordered a calpis green tea with han tian jelly. She had a few sips of it and thought it had a harsh bitter aftertaste so she told the staff. The employee took away her drink, only to return within a few minutes to tell her that "I've tried the drink and it wasn't bitter at all. Do you still want it?" My friend just agreed out of politeness. I personally felt a bit strange about the employee trying her drink and returning it back to her? They resealed the drink in the same cup. Now, onto the pros. They often have new staff working on the floor but they are always identified with a badge that says "trainee". I really appreciate that! It allows the restaurant to function professionally without misunderstandings because the guests would expect less from new employees. I know that if I had any complaints, I'd save the trainee some trouble and ask another employee instead. The most important thing to mention is the food!! The food is amazing! I'm obsessed. The hotpots are jam packed with goodies (it really does look like their promotional photos)! I always have trouble finishing all the contents of my hotpot and the bowl of steamed rice, but the portions are great! Also, their Hokkaido milk tea is AMAZING. It's so different than any flavour of milk tea I've ever had! I highly recommend trying it with a spicy hotpot - yum! read more

I came here for lunch on a Saturday because my friends said it was really good. The outside of the restaurant looks really dirty and old. Not a restaurant i would want to go in but the inside looks pretty nice. There are photos of each hot pot on the walls. Outside each booth are seats for two. I wanted to sit in a booth so i requested it and the workers looked like they didn't want to give it to us even though the restaurant was basically empty. Finally when the employee asked the other employees they let us. They didnt say anything to us and just put the menus on the table and left. They didnt even give us water or tea. The workers dont understand english well so it was hard asking for things. I got the beef hot soup and it comes with a drink at lunch so i thought i could get any drink discounted like every other restaurant but i was only allowed to get black tea or green tea. The waitress was really rude. They just told me you cant get that you have to get it full price. They had no emotions either. I ended up just getting black tea with pearls and it was pretty good. Overall the food was pretty good but i would probably not come here again because the service sucks waitresses are very rude. read more

Even people who don't like regular hotpot will love this joint. If you 'aint got asian in you, hot pot is quite the concept to grasp. 'Let me get this straight. I pay a 'restaurant' to give me a bunch of RAW things and a pot and I as the diner provide the labour?' Yeah, tough sell. Boiling point is different. Rather than a communal 'hot tub' pot, each person orders their own. It comes pre-loaded. There are 10 variations on the menu, but a multitude of add-ons. My personal favourite is the Lamb one. Includes: Nappa, Vermicelli, Lamb Sliced, Enoki Mushroom, Imitation Crabstick, Kamaboko, Pork Blood, Fired Tofu Skin, Maitake Mushroom, Clam, Sour Mustard, Firm Tofu and an egg. For $10.99 (lunch) and $11.99 (dinner), it's a fantastic value. Fills you up well. The broth is killer and there are 6 levels of spices you can select from. And save some room for dessert. Their mango snow flake ice is really good. We added the boba balls (no idea what's in them), but a must add. Service is fast and friendly. Be aware that they won't split bills, but do take credit/debit. Practice your math skills people or do it Chinese style: one person pays. read more

I admit it, i'm a sucker for places with stamp cards. They don't advertise it widely but ask for one when you are paying and they'll give it to ya. Pros: -personal hotpot! you get what you want and don't have to deal with others fishing around and stealing the stuff you put in. -sauces: the spicy bean paste is good in EVERYTHING. just add it. -So. Many. Veggies. -if you don't want something, they'll now hold it. Pork blood is just not my jam. -comes with rice or small bowl of vermicelli. Also, at lunch, it comes with a free drink. -clean: the space has reasonable room between tables and appears well kept. -Parking: if you go in the evening you can use the bank parking next door. Or park on the block just south of Kingsway. -stamp card holla! If I could, I would rate Boiling Point as 3 1/2 stars. We stopped by here on a Friday night at 9, and we were seated right away. The setup at this new restaurant is a little interesting: if you have more than two people, you get to sit in the booths. Since there was two of us, they sat us at a table outside of the booth. We ordered: Seafood and tofu hot pot ($12): when the pot comes out, it looks really big, but the pot itself is pretty shallow. The pot came with cabbage, vermicelli, shrimp, squid, baby octopus, fish balls, enoki mushrooms and pork. You get to customize the spice level, so I got mine at medium, and it was pretty spicy. The pot comes with a side of rice. Seafood miso soup ($16): this pot had a miso base, and was bigger than my pot. It had a lot of pork slices and some crab as well as the usual ingredients. Passionfruit black tea with boba ($4): this was decent, and you can taste the tea (not too sweet). Both hot pots were pretty good. There are a couple of hot sauces on the table, but I really liked the non-spicy one (salty, made from beans?). Although the pot is pretty shallow, I was full when I was finished with my dish. Since the restaurant is still new, they are still working out the kinks in the service (plenty of workers, but a little disorganized). They do have free parking in the back, but the lot is pretty small. There is metered street parking on Kingsway in front of the restaurant. I am undecided as to whether I like Little Sheep (AYCE and more expensive) or Boiling Point more (cheaper, individual hot pots). I plan on coming back during lunch, where the pots are a dollar cheaper and they come with a free drink. read more

Overrated and overpriced for small portions of food. I really wanted to like this place because I see a lot of my friends come here but my first visit was very disappointing.. I celebrated my birthday with a bunch of friends and this place seems always packed with people (I don't know why) I mean the hot broth is comforting for a cold rainy day but you're pretty much paying for water, a dash of seasonings and mini toppings. First time I went was in Seattle/Bellevue area. The wait times were insane (hungover mfs just waiting for that dank soup), and parking was shit but we always made it work. I was instantly captivated by the small burner/single hot-pot experience, as well as the flavors. Since my first time in Bellevue, I have loved it and even drove to Bellevue until a Southcenter Mall location opened up (1 hr drive vs 25 mins... eh). Either way, I've always been a huge fan of their food but never felt the need to leave a review because... its just a stellar experience. Food is great without question in either USA or Canada. Exactly the same (except some ingredients and add ons) flavors that I love. Service is great too, in WA and BC for me so far. The sauce pots will always be sticky... just deal with it. I was annoyed in the beginning as well, but I learned it is sticky because of dirty customers, not the lack of cleanliness of staff. Reason for my 5 stars is that aside from food, you don't see this type of customer service in huge corps. I don't usually have complaints nor do I rarely contact corporate offices but this was one of the few times that didn't say, "Too bad, you didn't know - we ain't doing sh*t - read our fine-print". A Quick Story Regarding Customer Service/Corporate Office: Had my stamps filled from the card and was saving it for a good day before it expired on 6/30/20 (today). Last stamp was on 2/3/20 and the pandemic hit, rendering businesses closed. The expiration date was at the end of June, so I was thinking that the pandemic would end by then. Huge mistake! I went yesterday but they wouldn't honor my points card because they were apparently launching a new BP App and my card was useless (food stamp card - they honored my free tea though :D ). I didn't know about it and I've been calling this location since 29th to see if they were gonna be opened on the 30th (I think July.1 is Canada day? so didn't know whether they would open on the day before) but straight to a busy phone line. Initially thought that there were too many to-go orders going through but over a span of 3 hours and an asinine amount of calls later, still the same result. No prob, drove to the location to find out they wouldn't honor my Hot Pot points card. Nothing could be done at the location since the workers kept telling me that they weren't transferable or I could use it since the app was launching 'soon' (on the FAQ of BP it does note that they will stop taking cards once the app launches; honestly I had no clue since I found out yesterday that they had an app). I sent an email to their corporate office regarding my situation and they sent back a wonderfully pleasant message. I don't know if I can copy/paste what they wrote but here it goes: "Hello Jason, We're sorry for the confusion, and will remind our servers to explain clearly about how we recycle the reward cards. Our management team would like to recycle you reward card to a $20 app voucher as apology for the experience. Please kindly reply with your member ID and we'll add it to your account right away. If you are not yet an app member, it is free to download on both iOS and Android devices. Thank you! ​ Best Regards, Customer Service" To be honest, I was a little defensive since other places that implemented new systems just ripped up my ticket (cough.. a certain famous bubble tea place), saying they were invalid. Couldn't even take a picture of it since they yanked it out of my hand and ripped it to shreds.. like what the hell, bro? I was glad I kept my ticket and sent a picture of it to their office and they rewarded me generously. I don't know how the system works but they gave me 4 VIP vouchers to make up for their employee's mistake (assuming 1 is worth $5 CAD?, unsure yet). Honestly, I'm just happy I got to take my physical points card back and take a picture - send it to the corporate office and get the equivalent of my points card back. My best friend and I absolutely love coming here. The Taiwanese and lamb ones are so good! It's super filling cause you get a big hot pot and a side (vermicelli or rice). And, if you come during lunch, you get a free drink, which is sadly pre-made so you can't tell them to make it less sweet, but it's still good. Depending on the time you come in, it can be really busy. Their service is usually ok. P.S: do not get the Thai Fusion. I love Thai food, but that flavour of hot pot was really odd... The restaurant is really busy a majority of the time. There was one time where I managed to get a seat right away - that was at 11 am on a Sunday morning. This is one of those places where the smell of the food really sinks into your clothing ... just something to keep in mind! (the serve fermented tofu here too ...) I've tried several flavours of their hot posts here and my favourite is the Curry Fishball one. I was a little hesitant to try because I imagined it to taste like liquid curry soup. It's surprisingly good! The soup is curry-flavoured, but it's not too strong. I got mine "medium spicy" and it was perfect for me. I've also tried their Japanese Miso and Beef hot soup. The soup base is pretty solid (I always have it "medium spicy"). The portions are well-sized and each pot comes with a good amount of ingredients. I like that their hot pots come with a cold drink (green or black tea). Their hot pots also come with a side of either vermicelli or rice. I'm not a huge fan of vermicelli, so I usually order Udon (for $1.50 extra). Their garlic dipping sauce is awesome! Definitely a highlight of the restaurant. The service is inconsistent, so I wouldn't count on it being good. When it's busy, I've experienced long wait times for food. Sometimes I wonder if it's because they run out of pots. There's also very little parking out back. You may be able to find a street parking spot at the front (but that's rare!). I usually park across the street at Safeway. read more

This franchise located off of Kingsway is the most disgusting of all Boiling Point restaurants I've been to. On rainy days, the inside feels like a wet sauna but smells of raw meat and stinky tofu. I seriously think they have a ventilation problem at this restaurant. All of the other boiling point locations I have been to do not have this issue. Since it's so steamy inside, there is mold thriving along the floors and windows (see pictures). Also, one of the pots that was brought out to us had left over cabbage from the previous customer. In terms of food, this place provides each person with an individual hot pot that has the listed ingredients specified in the menu. If you try to ignore the filth around you (which is impossible) the food itself is ok. The servers bring out the already cooked pot of vegetables and meat and then proceeds to heat it to a boil at the table. A new found favourite for individual hotpot! It was really great how they have a tablet in the front for you to put down your name and number and they would text you when your table is ready. The menu is pretty simple with 10 different flavours of hotpot that contain different ingredients in them ranging from pork, beef, lamb and seafood. And you can pick your spiciness and a choice of rice or vermicelli. My hubs and I tried the milk cream curry and the lamb hotpot. Both were very tasty and and packed with flavour - I suspect there is a bit of msg in there as I did come back home a bit thirty! But strangely I still quite like this place! It's fine if it's in moderation right!? There were a selection of tasty sauce on the side too with garlic soy sauce, garlic bean paste, regular bean paste and chili oil - we really liked the garlic soy sauce. The hotpot are kept boiling hot with a flame in the bottom. Price wise it is slightly more than the causal individual hotpot restaurants at around $14 - $19 depending which you order, but I would say it is pretty decent so long as you are not someone expecting a ton of meat/protein in your hotpot - otherwise...go elsewhere for the ayce hotpot. The restaurant is not clean and is ready for some updating. The food was below average and everything was just not sanitary. I ordered the miso pot and it was basically full of cabbage, about 6 slices of meet, one fish ball, one small piece of fish, 3 pieces of mushroom and 1/4 of udon. Honestly, it just felt like a pot full of left overs and topped with 6 slices of fresh meat. Diarrhea right after I finished the meal and for the rest of the day. I've been to this location numerous times & it's been excellent each time. If you go at lunch, you get a complimentary choice of Green or Black Tea with an option to upgrade to the large size for an extra $1. The place fills up quickly but turnover is pretty fast, the servers are friendly and quick to help. Make sure you get a ticket from the computer at the front for a table if there's a wait. The food always comes out quickly after you order, I always get my favourite Milk Cream Curry. I always order it Spicy Level - Medium and it is delicious! Summer has arrived early in Vancouver which makes it hard to eat (drink?) delicious soups/hot pot. Boiling Point serves individual "hot pots" with your choice of a soup base that comes with their respective meats/fillings/toppings. The beef hot soup option comes with a very few thin slices of angus beef, a few pieces of imitation crab sticks, a small variety of tofu, meatball, a small cut of corn on the cob, a quartered tomato, topped with enoki mushroom, green onion, and cilantro - buried underneath you can find tons and tons of napa cabbage and a few strands of vermicelli. Each order comes with a bowl of rice - perfect accompaniment for the delicious, flavourful soup. You can add on a drink which comes in a take-out cup. Speaking of add-on's, there are combos you can choose from which gives you the option to add more meat, veggies, or even an egg.The pot is really filling as is but if you're a fan of "sides", the combo is a good choice. Super busy restaurant ALL THE TIME. I've been here a handful of time. TBH, I only come back for the Hokkaido Milk Tea. I normally get the Curry Fish Ball Soup (medium spice, which was apparently too spicy for me ). I've tried a couple of the other soups but they're all pretty meh. DONT GET THE KOREAN SOYBEAN ONE. Bland as heck. I've heard number 8 is the best one but only one HELLA spicy option (much spice. such scared) Soups alright. I think theyre just all a mixture of each other. My soup had beef, fish balls, French beans, vermicelli, imitation crab, some veg and a raw egg placed in the middle. They also give you a side of rice or vermicelli. It's a lot of food. I think everyone should be sharing their pots but to each their own... ON TO THE BETTER STUFF. The Hokkaido Milk Tea. I'm telling you. It's amazing. Addicting. I don't even feel like having milk tea everywhere else. I mean ChaTime could be comparable but still. I love the pudding and the pearls here. The pearls are always cooked to perfect and just the right amount of sweetness. I get it as is. Probably too much sugar but I don't mind hehe. Here are my reasons why I give this place a ONE star. I rarely give restaurants one star but boy, did they change that. My boyfriend and I came in and saw that it wasn't busy AT ALL. We were seated immediately and we were ready to order after a minute of looking at the menu. I was trying to grab attention at this one worker (Chinese girl with mid-long brown hair, red lipstick) because it seemed like she didn't have much to do.... We made eye contact MANY times but it took her 20mins to finally come to our table to take our order. Like ??????? I was obviously a bit agitated at this worker and she had the audacity to give me attitude when taking our order. Our sauces were running out so I asked if they could replace another one and again, took her another 20 mins to deliver it. When she handed us our drinks, she literally slammed it on our table including the sauce. I was flabbergasted. Also, for some reason our ONE order of hotpot came out AFTER some couple sitting next to us who ordered TWO orders of hotpot like wtf -- we were seated way before them.... I n t e r e s t I n g. . . . anyways, I was sick and tired of her attitude so I decided to grab another employee's attention. They were a lot more professional and nice and treated my boyfriend and I like real customers. Honestly.. would come again but i'd rather have someone else give us service. This place is always busy, wait is usually at least 15 minutes. They only let you sit down if your entire party is here. I always enjoy the beef hot pot with all sorts of fish ball goodies inside the pots. You can choose spice level from none to flaming spicy. The "mild" is actually very spicy so I always just stick with the no spicy. It's a bit pricey for what it is, but Boiling Point so satisfying on a cold day. read more

Firstly, this place had a funky smell to it; the entire restaurant smelled like burnt rubber, we think it's the fermented tofu. It was very busy, we had to wait about a half hour. When we were finally seated, we ordered the Korean bean paste and beef hot pots. We found the broths to be very oily. The meat was very thinly sliced and the veggies, tofu, fish cakes and so on tasted below average due to it's low quality. Stay away from the rice, it tasted very stale and it had clearly been sitting under a heated lamp for a long time. Overall the quality of the food is well below average, and the prices are high for what you get. Service here is non-existent. We would not recommend, and we will not come back. read more

Food was good. But service... Just a reminder to everyone and to the staff & management at this location, TIPS ARE NOT MANDATORY NOR IS IT REQUIRED BY LAW. Not able to split the bill is already bad enough. But having to force customers to pay tips? Not a good experience. I even felt threatened by the waitress to cough up tips. Furthermore, the waitress never came back to our table after delivering our meal. I had to go up to ask for take-out boxes and to pay the bill. This alone was not a good experience. read more

Was a little hesitant about going here but was coerced by my nieces to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the seafood hotpot and my nieces ordered the kimichi and meat hotpot respectively. The food was delicious! Decently fresh ingredients but could have used a bit more seafood. And u can choose the degree of spiciness. Good ingredients and felt satisfied and comfortable afterwards; belly was full and warm:) Decor is standard with a few nice touches here and there. I went here with a couple of friends and my sister. I do enjoy that everyone gets their own hotpot, making it great for groups with different taste preferences. I got the beef hotpot with fresh milktea. A little bit on the pepper-y side and with no shortate of vegetables, overall it was quite delicious. However I was not a fan of the tomato slice since it was quite sour and did not compliment the hotpot that well. As for the fresh milktea, I definitely recommend it. Not only does it look visually interesting (milk sits on top of tea), the flavor has just the right amount of sweetness. If you would like something more sweet the Hokkaido milktea is sweeter than the fresh milktea. The reason I'm docking points is because their service was not my favorite. The server came off a little rude and rather off putting. Through out the meal they did pop by to check if we would like more water for our hotpot, but it was a little disruptive during our discussions. Maybe if they had something like a call button to request for assistance would be helpful to both parties? read more

We enjoy coming to this place for hot pot! The hot pot menu is quite wide. They are generally delicious apart from the pork blood which we are reluctant to try. Attentive service and plenty of seating available. read more

First time there this evening and wasn't sure what to expect. Was seated right away. Had a number of hot pots to choose from, but being a bit conservative I went with the beef as my husband did as well (sans the tofu for him). Ordered the cold teas which were amazing. Hot pots arrived and looked a bit daunting and unsure how to start. Figured out we had to add the broth and meat to our sides of vermicelli. Once we had the hang of it it was AMAZING!!! Flavourful! Decent portion, great selection of pots & decent price. Downsides: DO NOT DRINK THE SOUP! Only use it to cook whatever side dishes you order because I made the mistake of drinking it and it was 2 days of unpleasant gurgle-age in my belly. I've come here several times for dinner already and every now and then I crave this stuff. It feels so nice to have a pot of hot soup on all the rainy days that we have! I always get the beef hot pot with rice and haven't strayed from that because I like it so much. They also have four types of sauces on the side and one of them tastes really good but I forgot which one it is. Try them all to find out! Recently they have a tablet at the front where you can put your name down which I like because you don't have to wait around for someone to come and write down your name. Last of all, their service is not the best... Last time I was there they brought one hot pot and didn't light the fuel then came back 5 mins later with the second one and lit that one but left without lighting the first one. But I guess I am used to things like that with Asian restaurants so all you just need to do is tell them, no biggie. read more

For a place where EVERY table has something at over 100C degrees at any given point, their air conditioning sucks. Dress lightly, but darkly, the tables are tiny and splash damage potential is high. I like it because with personal hot pot, no one knocks off my spoons and steals my food. Their flavors are really good, I can't say too much about freshness and quality because it's boiled to hell. Also I heard rumors of rat droppings in people's food, personally, I've been here a couple times, I tried tasting for it, but sadly I have no idea what rat droppings taste like. read more
