So I decided to try this place because I heard the Ceviche was amazing.. and it's walking distance from the Pasadena Courthouse and I love sea food. So no surprise I loved the Peruvian Ceviche I'll I don't now if it really.. was but I almost felt like it was actually made to order it seemed that fresh. Looking back at menu it's called Ceviche B-69. The New York stake was also amazing I see now looking on the menu onlinethey call it "seco de carne" but there was nothing seco about it. It was juicy AF But the main reason I decided to leave my first review is that I couldn't get over the Aroz con Mariscos.. it reminded me of my travels thru Spain where both sea food and especially rice dishes known as paella are taken seriously. My family and I came here for a sit down lunch and while the servers and ambience were great, the wait time was super long. It took us almost an hour to get our food and there was no chips or bread to get us through the wait. I'm a huge lomo saltado fan and was excited to try theirs but unfortunately, it didn't hit the spot for me. Maybe it was the waiting experience but the food felt lackluster. Peruvian cuisine has been influenced and morphed through the influx of other cultural traditions, particularly Asian. This is represented by both the founders' backgrounds -- manager Mauricio Vicenza is of Argentinian descent and executive chef Sandra Loli Lam is of Chinese-Peruvian descent. A fusion of culinary traditions are presented at Bodegon since its doors opened in 2021. LOCATION: Bodegon No 69 is located in Old Town section, which is densely packed with restaurants. EXPERIENCE: The restaurant is small (interior has around 36 chairs) and has seating inside as well as a protected sidewalk side. The seats are composed of metal and wood, aesthetically complementing the industrial references on the wall, but not inviting lounging for long period of time. I had arrived in advance of making a reservation, and the hostess provided recommendations for dishes and put aside a table for us outside, as there were two large parties already reserved for inside that evening and I was looking to secure a quiet spot that would support conversation. I experienced the Cau Cau, one of the two dishes the hostess recommended for Peruvian food newcomers. The dish was colorful and flavorful, and the tripe was tender as promised by the hostess. I also shared an appetizer-- Chocclo Serrano -- which offered great texture and flavor contrasts within its simple, but skillful, preparation of Peruvian corn kernels, fresh cheese, garlic and butter. The second suggested dish -- Seco con Frajoles -- was also tasty and tender, as promised, and unlike the Cau Cau served hot during my second visit. I enjoyed a Pisco sour during the first visit, thinking it was the only proper thing to order in order to fully embrace my first Peruvian cuisine experience. SERVICE: Others have noted the service to be slow and uncoordinated, and that is what I experienced on a busy Thursday evening. One colleague awkwardly received his chilled pina colada cocktail 15 minutes before the Pisco sours the rest of us (4) ordered had arrived, another never received a glass of water despite two requests. However, this is where service transformed from slow to odd... when a tray of four Pisco sours arrived the server dumped two on one of the small cafe tables. The cafe table was on a slight incline and the two cocktails swiftly dripped off the table and onto my tissue thin summer dress. The server only commented on the aroma of the cocktails, and went to get napkins, as there were none previously set. As I helped clean the area my hands became sticky, but I couldn't get up due to the sheer condition of my dress. I used ice cubes from water glass to diffuse the stickiness. After some time we had to remind the server that two of us needed to have the spilled Pisco sours replaced, and that took some time. He responded such that it suggested he had forgotten. It seemed the server was preoccupied with something that evening, as he was looking on his cell phone. Likewise, we had to prompt him to place orders for meals (hence too late/dark to decently capture on my iPhone X). While this might not be typical service, we were surprised to receive neither an apology nor a complementary cocktail given the physically and socially uncomfortable circumstance. I later experienced the second dish recommended by the hostess -- Seco con Frajoles -- on a quiet late Sunday afternoon and encountered normal service. The only issue that afternoon is that there was a misunderstanding as to whether I wanted to discard unfinished part of meal, or for the remainder to be boxed. TIPS: Small lipped plates are provided at the start (usually), and as in Asian cultural practices, dishes are communally shared. One server noted Pisco sour is best to accompany with Ceviche. If you didn't finish a dish and would like to take the rest back, explicitly state that before server takes dishes away. read more

My friend picked this Peruvian spot & it was such a nice vibe. The ambiance seemed to be authentic just like the food! I ordered the pollo con arroz I think that's how you say it but it honestly was amazing. I thought I was going to get like pieces of chicken & rice but it was like chicken breast or like the chicken inside the rice like a latino stir fry but it was soooo good. I honestly didn't know what I was ordering I just know it was good. The yucca we had for an appetizer was great too. My friend ordered some signature beef plate & that was actually better than mine! I had high expectations for this restaurant. The outside looks inviting and the inside feels cozy. The restaurant was not busy, so I'm not sure why it took so long for them to take our order. We ordered a couple of appetizers, one of them being the Yuca Frita with huancaina sauce, we ordered the sauce on the side, but when they brought it, the Yuca was smothered in the sauce. As soon as the waitress brought it, she realized the mistake, she said they would fix it, but they never brought a different order. My daughter ordered a tallarin saltado de mariscos and it only came with shrimp. The rice that was served with my Lomo saltado was under cooked. The ceviche mixto was the best dish we had, definitely recommend it. read more

you NEED to add CEVICHE B69 to your order. it's so good. the flavor and different textures makes the dish so incredibly craveable. the service is also amazing. My family and I went to Bodegón 69 last Sunday and had an amazing time! The ambiance was fantastic--it's located in the heart of Pasadena and offers plenty of space to accommodate large parties. We love Peruvian food and glad there's one in Old Town. I made a dinner reservations the day of for the 4 of us.  The closest parking would probably be the one next to Everson Royce. Note that long gone are the days of the free 90 minutes parking in Old Pas. I believe its now $1 an hour for all the parking garages. Which is still a great deal. Now onto the food!  For appetizers we shared the Yuquitas Fritas which is yuca sticks with a creamy sauce. We also got chicha morada, pisco sour and passion sour which was wonderful to start our meal with. Hubby and I shared the lomo saltado, the beef was very tender.  I also got the pescado sudado which is fish of the day cooked in a tomato wine broth. Our friends also got the lomo saltado and added the pork tamale which my friend said was very good and filling!   Our waitress Willow (?) was super friendly and accommodating. My friend had many allergy issues and she took care of every dish for her with a smile. For dessert she recommended the lucama ice cream and these caramel short bread cookies.  The lucama is a delicious fruit in Peru and it has a very, very subtle taste of pumpkin.  The short bread definitely goes well with a cup of tea or coffee.  To our surprise, when we got the receipt later the desserts were complimentary. Best Peruvian restaurant in Los Angeles County! The food is consistently fantastic, especially the lomo saltado, and the sauces they serve with it really elevate the dish. The yuca is also excellent and comes with a flavorful sauce. We randomly stumbled upon this place while walking by at night and I'm so glad we did! Amazing service, they even hooked us up with some free juices (the Maracuya AKA passion fruit & the Chicha Morada, this amazing red corn based traditional Peruvian juice that blew our minds!) We had the Yuquitas Fritas for an appetizer and a pitcher of sangria , both were delicious! The main dishes were good too, but by that point we were a little too tipsy to recall exactly what we had ordered. We were invited here to celebrate our cousin's 60th birthday. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS! Very tasty and perfect temperature. Their sangria was so so GOOD! Usually sangria is too bitter or sour so i usually won't order it but the sangria here was fruity with the most perfect hint of sweetness!! The staff was very nice, attentive and friendly. Arrived for dinner and were seated promptly. Although they appeared to be very busy, the staff were all friendly and attentive throughout our visit. They seem to have two separate seating sections, in front and a more private room in the back (which was not opened at this time). All the dishes we ordered were tasty. The Bistec montado was a hefty portion, well seasoned and perfectly cooked, sadly they didn't have any plantains during this visit. My friends enjoyed the Cau cau chicken and the classic Lomo Saltado. The sangria was a bit too sweet for me but my sister liked it, and I ordered a beer that was not correctly tapped but the staff was extra nice and tried to accommodate by bringing other types of beer. Pasadena, CA After a handful of visits and our most recent visit, I have updated my previous review and find an average between 4 and 5 stars, I rounded it up to 5 stars for our most recent excellent experience. A spontaneous return to Bodegon 69 for an Anniversay dinner proved to be the right choice. Mauricio was in the house and really made our evening unforgettable. Thank you Mauricio! It's kind of funny how things work, our random meeting with Mauricio in the back alley behind the restaurant proved to be a good one. We just happened to be looking at another local restaurant for last minute dinner reservations and my husband ran into Mauricio in the back alley. When Mauricio found out we were celebrating our Anniversary, he ran into the restaurant and brought us a special treat. We were so touched by the gesture that we completely changed our dinner plans. When I asked my husband where he wanted to dine, he replied that he was in the mood for a fun lively atmosphere with more of a home cooked hearty meal versus fancy upscale. I was flexible, so we decided to dine at Bodegon 69, boy was that the right choice! We had a blast and the food was off the charts good! We eventually parked and found our way to the restaurant. There was a full house, and a few parties waiting. For a moment I thought we would not be able to get a seat since Mauricio was not expecting us, but he pulled a table and a chair into the restaurant from the outside dining area, and seated us after those who were already waiting for a table ahead of us. Mauricio seemed happy we were there and said he was going to make something special and surprise us with a special off menu pork dish and then we could proceed to order from the menu and move on to our next course. We were game for the adventure! After we were seated and got settled, out to the table came: 5 stars Chanco al Palo, with plantains and potatoes, topped with thinly sliced red onion salsa. This is like the best version of carnitas/roasted pork with crispy skin crackly pieces on top that I've ever had. This dish was so good we ordered another one and devoured both servings. I asked for their green and spicy sauce on the side which elevated the flavors even more. Mauricio explained this will be a new menu item and it is among our favorite dishes we have tried here. With our request for a second order of pork we ordered a: 4.25 stars Seafood paella as well, I just ate cold leftovers which were great! We both preferred the pork dish although we enjoyed the Paella with perfectly cooked rice, seafood was good, no detecatable crispy bottom crust, but still good. We enjoyed the Paella dish with our second round of pork. We already have tried several 5 star winning dishes here, next visit we may try the Peruvian Chicken which we hear is very good also. Mauricio has not been making the 5 layer chocolate cake as of late but he did make: 5 star Torte de ricotta cake dusted with finely shredded coconut, topped with peaches and served with blueberry sauce and whipped cream, Fantastic! We also ordered coffee with dessert. The coffee was served with a chemex style glass carafe pot of pour over coffee and was a perfect ending to our outstanding meal. It sounds as if Mauricio rotates the desserts and I would opt for anything that's house made here in the dessert category, he is a great baker. Service tonight was great. Mauricio said they are still short staffed, but the restaurant was packed, not an empty seat in the house. From what I observed the tables around us seemed to be waited on and received everything in a timely manner. We also recieved great sevice from two other waiters, if my memory is correct I believe their names are Carlos and Franco. The staff tonight was on point. We felt the warm welcome of Mauricio tonight and tasted the love and passion that goes into his cooking. They are currently innovating to make new dishes and push forward to stand a bit different, we will be back again soon...maybe even this Sunday, when we heard they will have a special dessert of corn flan! read more

Now I can say I've been to the best 3 restaurants all neighboring each other: Osawa, Bone Kettle and finally Bodegon. Between us 3 hungry girls, we had 5 dishes to share. See pictures below. Basically, here are my thoughts: The meat was so soft, perfectly cooked (medium rare+) and juicy! I highly recommend the arroz con mariscos to offset the meat we had :) We loved all the sauces that complimented the rest of our dishes (especially that green sauce yummmm) The beer and and sangria were so fresh and light and perfect with the meal. The final receipt didn't hurt our wallets and everything was fairly priced. This was my third visit to this restaurant. During my first two visits, the food and customer service were good. On this recent visit, I was with two friends who hadn't been there before. The food still good, but the customer service was lacking. The female waitress, who seemed to be European or Russian, barely interacted with us. A great casual date place with delicious Peruvian food! Walking into Bodegon No 69, you are immediately immersed in all the delicious food that's cooking and coming out! They have an open kitchen concept so all the wonderful aromas of herbs and spices will surround you oh-so gently. I knew immediately I'd love this place! My boyfriend took me here on a Saturday during lunch time. We ordered the tamale (chicken), Ceviche B69 and the Arroz Con Mariscos (Peruvian Rice with Seafood). Every dish was so well thought out and put together, each dish had its own time to shine. I'm a huge fan of citrus flavors and there was definitely a lot of that in the Ceviche B69 dish. I've never had Peruvian ceviche before so this was a surprisingly good treat! It'll definitely be my favorite going forward to any Peruvian restaurant. The tamale (chicken) sounds very simple - but no! I've had other tamales but the ones at Bodegon No 69 was the absolute best, especially paired with the spicy green sauce. The green sauce is a must-have but definitely be careful with the spice level. The Arroz Con Mariscos (aka Peruvian Rice with Seafood) was served hot and fresh from the saute pan. Again, love the chill atmosphere here and you really get to see the restaurant's uniqueness by how they show their plating. Absolute love! My boyfriend and I left with full tummies and some food leftover to eat more at home! Definitely recommend coming to Bodegon No 69 - you'll love it here! read more

Came here for a lunch on a weekend. The restaurant wasn't busy, and service was attentive. It's a nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, and located conveniently in Old Town. Be careful if you use the restroom though! It's a huge staircase downstairs with minimal lighting, and I could imagine myself falling down if I wasn't careful. I highly recommend their appetizer platter that comes with yucca fries, corn and cheese, and more. The green sauce is to die for! The appetizer platter was by far my favorite dish, even better than the entrees. I ordered the seafood saltado, which came as a big portion but lacked in deep flavor. The seafood was cooked fine, but it needed more dimension with sauce. I regretted not ordering the same appetizer plate as my own entree. I've been to Bodegon twice and I will come back again and again and again :) Even on a very busy day, a day that the Peruvian National Team was in town playing Mexico at the Rose Bowl. While the wait was a little longer, it was worth it! I had made reservations for this day weeks before and they honored my rsvp, while others had to wait. It is difficult to find good Peruvian food in LA and while I don't live near Pasadena, I make sure that I stop by here for lunch if I'm nearby. I've ordered several dishes here and they are very generous with the amount of food they serve. The staff is super professional and very accommodating. Came in 2/16/25 for a pick up order and service was still insanely slow. was told when I arrived that it would take 2 more minutes. I ended up waited about 30mins additional time after pick up time before getting my food. I can't imagine how long the people actually sitting down were waiting. looking around, everyone was waiting and nobody was eating. Additionally, while I was waiting, people who were sitting outside walked inside to put in their order themselves because the staff had forgotten they sat them out there. food itself was pretty good, but not worth it in the end. read more
