I love this place! I ordered the Loma Soltado with a glass of sangria ! The meat was tender and flavorful! The special Peruvian green sauce always adds to the flavor of the rice, meat and potatoes! Kevin was my server. He was efficient and friendly. I really enjoyed the fresh flavors and food! I will definitely be back for more! And more! Cheers

First time to try Peruvian Cuisine in this area. Worth the visit. Spacious parking, ambiance was good, nice music and friendly environment. Service was good, Dulce was very helpful, recommending their best sellers, very attentive. Food was great , it was a delight having the loma soltado... and arroz mariscos paired with their house sauce and chicha morada drink which is refreshing. Affordable prices for comfy delightful food. My friend didn't fail recommending this place. And will definitely come back.

DELICIOUS Another great place to try on Main St if you haven't already. The pesto pasta and the steak were so good and I got a little taste of my friend's lomo saltado. Everything tasted great and it was filling! And they ain't playing around with the green spicy sauce. The service was very attentive too. Cozy little spot if you're looking for Peruvian food. It's a little pricier but it's good.

First time tasting Peruvian food, it was good. The Tallarine Verde con Bistec was super tasty. The Milanesa was cooked perfectly, it was tender and grilled nicely. The pasta was good but the noodle was a little thick. The Pisco sour clasico was yummy ! The Lomo Saltado was good but the meat was a little too thick and tough. I'll come back again to continue trying more from the menu. Overall , nice hidden spot in Alhambra. It's a nice change from all the Asian food options .

I've always loved Lomo Saltado and found this small restaurant that met my cravings. I first caught the urge for Peruvian food when I worked in Long Beach, which always has a great selection of Peruvian food. Well, Mancora is clearly a contender, with delicious fries and sauce which really complements the beef and when mixed with the rice, makes a complete meal. I'll dine inside next time as the restaurant is so clean and Dulce was so nice as a cashier and server with friendly service and a smile!

BOMB DOT COM free easy parking Super professional hospitable staff Clean bathroom The "cocktail" (pisco sour) didn't taste strong at all. All our food was off the chains ! Ceviche w/ corn nuts was just divine. Chicken heart skewers yummers Lomo saltado bomb Fried rice thingy tasty The hot sauces yumms too Will absolutely recommend & can not wait to return ! Also btw please don't compare to that other famous Peruvian joint in Hollywood. Just don't! I'm sure the chef here isn't losing sleep over trying to mimic other restaurants' flavors/ dishes etc This place right here is beautiful & deserves its own flowers, actually garden ;)

What did we have? - Lomo Saltado - Choros a La chalaca Came here for to have lunch with a friend. Parking was stress free. Located in a parking lot, there's several spaces directly in front of the Mancora's outdoor seating area. Shortly after being seated, we were served some water and provided menus. This was my first time having Mancora, so naturally, if I'm going Peruvian, I went with the Lomo Saltado. I have to put the steak and the rice, and the sauce to the test. I look for things like tomato ratio and the amount of onions. I wasn't very impressed, slightly disappointed actually. Mario's in Los Angeles and Don Felix are among my favorites for Lomo. Mancora's Alhambra doesn't come close. Positive note is the ceviche dishes were very good. Nice portion, fresh and flavorful. I'd probably return for some ceviche but keeping my friends away from ordering the Lomo.

Had an hour before our CPA appointment and lunch was on our minds. Came across this restaurant as we walked down main Street looking for somewhere to eat. Fired up my yelp app to check the reviews and *almost* walked away due to a review that I will mention in a second, but glad I didn't. Ordered Lomo Saltado for myself and my date had the Tallarin Saltado de Carne and for an appetizer, we ordered Salchipapas. See pics. Easiest way to describe our meal to a T: Nice flavor and we devoured every last bit of it. Some reviewer said they found it to be a little on the salty side but I disagree. It appears they couldn't differentiate between the briny observation versus the seasoning that was present. It was definitely seasoning that was incomprehensible to that reviewer. All in all, was glad to have stopped here and given this restaurant a shot. Will return

I finally got to try this place out after noticing it along Main St Restaurant Row. I didn't get a picture of the fried plantains but they were delicious! The Chaufa Aeropuerto was a huge portion, enough for another full meal to take home it was a little dry in restaurant, though, but reheated well on the stove

Máncora in Alhambra is truly a hidden gem. Last week was my first time dining in since I usually only order takeout, and it did not disappoint. Our server was amazing--so friendly and attentive--which made the experience even better. The food was delicious, as always. I ordered the pollo saltado, and my mom had the lomo saltado. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful, and the chicken and meat were cooked to perfection. I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't serve bread, which actually worked out perfectly for us since we don't eat much bread anyway. If you haven't checked this place out yet, I definitely recommend it!

We came here for a birthday dinner and ordered plenty of items to share. Our service was friendly and attentive. Inside is quaint with tvs playing sports, but a little hot as it didnt seem like the AC was on. APPETIZERS Anticuchitos: Skewer platter! All cooked so well and super flavorful. All the meat was tender and we all agreed we would get this again. Salchipapas: We got this mainly for the kid and he enjoyed it! Pretty basic and standard but NOT salty at all which was a huge plus for us. Choros a la chalacs: Muscles with ceviche mix on top! Small but yummy. ENTREES Lomo Saltado: We finished this plate first. The rice was perfectly cooked. Meat and fries was a small portion but tasted good. Tallarin verde con bistec: Pesto pasta with steak. Noodle to meat ration was a little off so there was alot of leftover noodles and I finished the meat. Meat was really thin and all. Not the best cut of meat but still good. Tallerin a la huancaina con lomo saltado: Same notes as the previous pasta dish. A more cheesy sauce. This one tasted alot better than the pesto one to us. Tallarin saltado de carne: A little too saucy for me but we also were able to finish this dish. Kind of a mix between a chow mein as well. Bistec a lo pobre: Didnt get to try this but the person who got this finished the entire thing. Portions are smaller side especially the meat for the price but overall there isnt a spot like this in the 626 and our experience was great!

Mancora serves up some pretty solid Peruvian cuisines right in Downtown Alhambra. We walked in on a Wednesday with only a few customers there. It's a small restaurant with some seats outside and about 5-6 tables on the inside. Items on the menu were pretty pricey IMO for what it was but the food was pretty tasty. These are the items I tried out. Lomo Saltado - Always have to get this whenever eating Peruvian food. I will say its pretty solid. The meat was seasoned well, and it went well with the fries and rice. For $24 though I do feel like it's a bit pricey for what it was. The meat quality was on the okayish side, portions aren't that large either. Overall, it's tasty. (4/5) Tallarines Verdes con Bistec - This dish was delicious and aesthetically pleasing. We ordered the steak medium rare and it was cooked medium rare. Pasta was al dente and had alot of flavor. This dish definitely seemed more worth than the Lomo Saltado and overall was the better dish IMO. Meat quality was about average, not bad not the best. (4.5/5) Overall the food is pretty good here and I left very satisfied. It is pricey though where you will easily spend a minimum of $25 per person and the portions aren't huge either. Thumbs up for me. Parking - They have a small lot in front but you can easily get parking at nearby structures or street parking.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon with my family. We were a party of 5 and we were seated immediately. Browsed the menu a bit and decided on a few items to share. CEVICH MANCORA $25 mahi mahi, shrimp, calamari, mussels, octopus with rocoto leche de tigre and lime. Had a sweet potato, peruvian corn, chulpe corn and plantain chips on the side 3.5 stars** TALLARINES A LA HUANCAINA $24 Huancaina sauce fettuccini served with lomo saltado. 4 stars** CHUPE DE CAMARONES $25 Creamy shrimp soup, with potatoes, pumpkin, and egg. This came by itself. No rice or bread or anything to complement the dish. Probably my least favorite and least flavorful. 3 stars*** ARROZ CON MARISCOS A seafood mixed with colourful rice served with sarza criolla. The rice was flavorful but very wet, more than I've had at other Peruvian places. 3.5 stars** TALLARIN SALTADO DE CARNE $23 Lomo saltado but with spaghetti noodles. This was ok. Meat was flavorful but nothing special. 3.5 stars** Mom and pop type restaurant with probably about 6 tables inside and a few in the outside. There was only one person working the front as well as busing tables so service was a bit slow and poor thing was probably overwhelmed because I had to ask for items multiple times. Everything was a bit pricey in my opinion I don't recall going to a Peruvian place that almost every plate was $25. If I were in the area I would probably come back. I wouldn't mind trying other items.

Ask the Community - Mancora Peruvian Cuisine

Are there any vegetarian options? The entire menu seems to have meat

Yes, but you can request, if I'm not mistaken, most of the dishes without meat. There is pasta and vegetable which is the basis or other ingredient of most of their dishes.

    What are the vegan options?

No not really. If you check out my review I've posted pics of the entire menu. There's only one quinoa salad but everything else has meat or seafood.

What's with the "burger stand" french fries on the signature dish?

You probably haven't tried it, but they are not ordinary russet potatoes french fries. They are Yuca/Cassava fries, and taste much better that potatoes in my opinion.

Do they have 100% gluten free options on the menu? Is Peruvian cuisine really thai food? Confusing comments made?

Whoever thinks Peruvian food is really Thai food is ignorant and they should get a globe

The Snapper is salted, split open in half, deboned, with no head nor tail. Grilled on a Plancha. Cooked so the meat still is moist, soft, mild fish flavoured. It's a simple dish served with sautéed veggies like zucchini, onion, carrot, red bell pepper in a bit of watery broth. Mango relish. 2) Costillitas: Meaty Pork ribs marinated in cayenne pepper and coconut milk marinade that is not at all chile piquant. Perhaps adding some Bouillon would add more of a meaty Umami for more rounded flavours. Sprinkling of chopped green parsley for color. Oven roasted with roasted, cumin mango relish, BBQ sauce. Side of wilted green salad mélange. 1-2a) Sassy Señorita: Pineapple - Serrano Chile infused Tequila Blanca Margarita with a whisper of Grand Marnier orange liqueur. It has no chile heat. Side of glass is smeared with El Tajín salt, chile powder mix. Food at Aro is kept simple, middle of the road. Not leading edge, adventurous. It is comforting, and I suspect that is what the customer base expects as witnessed by the number of people eating here. I tend to like food that challenges on different levels depending on my mood. However, Chan, through her upbeat, perceptive service, made the dining experience a pleasure. She is the reason for the 4th star. KUDOS!

The menu had so many different options that I had a hard time deciding between the soups, traditional meat dishes, and pasta selections. I ended up ordering a pasta dish that surprisingly had an Asian-inspired flavor profile. It reminded me a bit of Kung Pao chicken with linguini, thanks to the red and green bell peppers, onions, and a nice kick of spice. It was delicious, especially with the house-made green salsa they served on the side. I also ordered a side of rice and beans, and although I passed on the plantains since I was dining solo, the server kindly brought me a sample, which was such a thoughtful touch. This is a cozy, mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall spot with a mix of two- and four-top tables. Parking was easy, and I found a space right in front. I stopped by just before closing, and there were still a few people enjoying dinner. Expect to spend around $30 per person. Overall, I enjoyed the food and friendly service, and I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Food - sub par Service - slow & presumptuous…read moreAmbiance - hole in the wall & not a problem I had an intense craving for lomo saltado so came here because it popped up on Yelp. It was a hole in the wall and had relatively good reviews for lomo saltado so I had my hopes up thinking the food would be amazing. My chief complaint is that it took almost 30 minutes for my single order to come out because the kitchen was busy prioritizing to-go/delivery orders. Had I known this, I wouldn't have eaten inside the restaurant; I would've actually gotten it delivered. My next complaint is that no receipt was given as customer copy, and no itemized receipt when asking for tip. The total for this dish came out to almost $30 including tip, and the waitress/cashier didn't mention the lunch special at all. I brought it up to ask about it after I paid, to which she replied, "Oh, you probably don't want that cuz it's smaller. But it comes with a drink and soup." The fact that she assumed I wouldn't want the lunch special (when I'm there at lunch time) that would've been a much better deal at $17.99 and perfect portion size for me, and yet charged me for the regular dinner price was a bit presumptuous. It's also weird that they would ask for a tip (which I gave anyway) before I even received my meal. It's less about the price but the principle! But I was just hungry and needed to go to my next appointment, so I didn't argue, but again, the food took way too long to come out so I had to ask her about it after the 25 minute mark. Food came out after 30 minutes, and I had to get up and ask for the aji verde sauce when most restaurants usually serve it to you with the meal. The aji verde sauce which is really important to me to complement this dish, unfortunately missed the mark as well. I really missed Sol Inka's aji verde sauce that's well-rounded in every way. Lomo saltado should be balanced between the meat, tomatoes, onions, and fries, but it was definitely heavy on the fries with only two pieces of tomatoes. I would've preferred more meat too if it's the regular plate, but it felt like a fries dump. I wouldn't have had complaints if this were the lunch special order. Anyways, if you don't mind the headache & having to be extra proactive to get what you want, this is the place to be, but it's definitely not my cup of tea. $30 for a sub-par lomo saltado where well over half of it is fries does not sit well with me, considering I waited 30 minutes for my meal. Unfortunately, I'd just have to stick to Sol Inka for my regular Peruvian food fix, as the flavor is more robust there anyways. Oh, and Sol Inka also gives complimentary warm bread and butter, while there isn't anything like that here.
