Good food. Small neighborhood restaurant with friendly service. My main complaint was that while the food I ordered was good (Lomo Saltado), the amount of beef you receive compared to rice and fries does not justify the cost of the dish. You're getting maybe 80-85% carbs, with only 15-20% steak

Haven't have Peruvian food for a while and this place didn't disappoint. The staffs were very attentive. Restaurant was clean. Food was delicious! Definitely will be back to try other food on the menu.

The Peruvian food was pretty tasty. I liked most of the dishes. However, the fish in the ceviche was kind of chewy. Waitress was unable to communicate in English or Spanish and only spoke Chinese. The ambience is OK. The restaurant was kind of hot during lunch, and there were some mosquitoes.

Papa a la huancaina is always my favorite appetizer, So good! Lomo Saltado always hits the spot!!! Seco a la Norteña had a great taste but beef was a bit tough for my taste! Overall place was great perfect for big families, only issue is plates are so big the table is a bit cramped. The waitress was very nice and attentive.

This has quickly become my favorite place to eat around the 626. The flavors are so amazing and unique. It's a feast every time, especially their Arroz con mariscos (seafood rice) A true hole in the wall type of place, there was only staff there on a Tuesday night when we were grabbing takeout and they were very attentive

Stopped in to try this new peruvian place in El Monte. Food was excellent. I ordered Jalea and tallarin pollo. Jalea was nice & crispy even the mussel was slightly floured and fried. Sauce was creamy and tangy. Tallarin pollo was dark meat chicken with a slight wok hei on the noodles. Green sauce had a spicy kick w/ great flavor. Definitely will be back.

Where do I start?! The Arroz Con Mariscos and the ceviche were definitely my favorite! The ceviche was so flavorful and fresh. I love that it's made fresh so that they can customize it to no cilantro. The lomo saltado was delicious too. The owner was so nice and friendly he even gave us this circular chicken with egg sauce on top dish to try! Idk what it's called but definitely would come back again for it!

A quite hole in the wall along side of the superior supermarket. Came here Saturday evening right before closing, normally I don't wanna be "those people" but I went an hour and a half before they close I eat fast so I didn't think it was a big deal. No one was in there so even better. Kinda awkward greeting I wasn't sure if they were closed. The gentleman served me some iced tea and some corn nuts. And I ordered the ceviche mixto AND OMG WAS IT DELICIOUS that's all I needed to say I was sold, I'm so mad I didn't Try the leche de tigre but it gives me another reason to come back. The saltados was a perfect texture of meat I did enjoy that dish as well. It's clean. They seem sweet. I wouldn't say they ignored us but we were the only ones there and i had to get there attention to get the check to pay but other than that I'm coming back. Thank you chifa joy you were amazing

So happy Chifa Joy opened in El Monte! The food tastes authentic and homemade, with big portions that make it perfect for sharing. You can tell it's a family-run spot--the vibe is warm and welcoming. Definitely a new go-to for Peruvian comfort food.

A lovely hole in the wall Peruvian place! Glad to see another one in the SGV and in a place like El Monte~ Food was very flavorful and delicious, it definitely hit the spot! Also, shout out to our server, he was kind and attentive to us. Would recommend coming here to try~

    Arroz chaufa de carne

El Arroz Chaufa estaba requisimo, ordene de carne y llego en abundancia igual que el plato! Y la jalea tampoco decepciono!

Jalea perfectly cooked. Fish tender on the inside, crispy on the outside.

The menu had so many different options that I had a hard time deciding between the soups, traditional meat dishes, and pasta selections. I ended up ordering a pasta dish that surprisingly had an Asian-inspired flavor profile. It reminded me a bit of Kung Pao chicken with linguini, thanks to the red and green bell peppers, onions, and a nice kick of spice. It was delicious, especially with the house-made green salsa they served on the side. I also ordered a side of rice and beans, and although I passed on the plantains since I was dining solo, the server kindly brought me a sample, which was such a thoughtful touch. This is a cozy, mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall spot with a mix of two- and four-top tables. Parking was easy, and I found a space right in front. I stopped by just before closing, and there were still a few people enjoying dinner. Expect to spend around $30 per person. Overall, I enjoyed the food and friendly service, and I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Food - sub par Service - slow & presumptuous…read moreAmbiance - hole in the wall & not a problem I had an intense craving for lomo saltado so came here because it popped up on Yelp. It was a hole in the wall and had relatively good reviews for lomo saltado so I had my hopes up thinking the food would be amazing. My chief complaint is that it took almost 30 minutes for my single order to come out because the kitchen was busy prioritizing to-go/delivery orders. Had I known this, I wouldn't have eaten inside the restaurant; I would've actually gotten it delivered. My next complaint is that no receipt was given as customer copy, and no itemized receipt when asking for tip. The total for this dish came out to almost $30 including tip, and the waitress/cashier didn't mention the lunch special at all. I brought it up to ask about it after I paid, to which she replied, "Oh, you probably don't want that cuz it's smaller. But it comes with a drink and soup." The fact that she assumed I wouldn't want the lunch special (when I'm there at lunch time) that would've been a much better deal at $17.99 and perfect portion size for me, and yet charged me for the regular dinner price was a bit presumptuous. It's also weird that they would ask for a tip (which I gave anyway) before I even received my meal. It's less about the price but the principle! But I was just hungry and needed to go to my next appointment, so I didn't argue, but again, the food took way too long to come out so I had to ask her about it after the 25 minute mark. Food came out after 30 minutes, and I had to get up and ask for the aji verde sauce when most restaurants usually serve it to you with the meal. The aji verde sauce which is really important to me to complement this dish, unfortunately missed the mark as well. I really missed Sol Inka's aji verde sauce that's well-rounded in every way. Lomo saltado should be balanced between the meat, tomatoes, onions, and fries, but it was definitely heavy on the fries with only two pieces of tomatoes. I would've preferred more meat too if it's the regular plate, but it felt like a fries dump. I wouldn't have had complaints if this were the lunch special order. Anyways, if you don't mind the headache & having to be extra proactive to get what you want, this is the place to be, but it's definitely not my cup of tea. $30 for a sub-par lomo saltado where well over half of it is fries does not sit well with me, considering I waited 30 minutes for my meal. Unfortunately, I'd just have to stick to Sol Inka for my regular Peruvian food fix, as the flavor is more robust there anyways. Oh, and Sol Inka also gives complimentary warm bread and butter, while there isn't anything like that here.

Decently sized portions that left 2 hungry adults full and we had some left over to go as well. The restaurant is a bit small, but can fit lots of seats and tables inside. It can get cramped just by positioning of chairs, etc., but no biggie when we went, just keep this in mind for rush hour. Didn't take too long for our food to come out. For our visit, we got the classics: 1) Lomo Saltado: -Deliciously seasoned and moist pieces of lean beef with sauteed onions, tomatoes, with fries and rice. -I usually don't like sauteed veggies, but the slight char and the sweetness went so deliciously well with the umami of the beef and the double carbs of the rice and the fries are just so deliciously indulgent with the salty combo of the proteins. -Love, love, LOVE the Aji and Chimichurri sauces that they have here too. Truly the pinnacle of this type of cuisine and adds such a delicious burst of flavor to an already flavorful dish. 2) Chaufa de Pollo: -Simple chicken fried rice with onions and some scrambled eggs and bits of chicken. Some chicken bits were a tad dry and the rice was a little oily, but not too big of a deal since this was a very indulgent lunch for us. Would love to come back again to try more of their menu.
