We first found out they didn't have any chicken options because they were out of chicken when they opened. I guess they didn't have any delivered on time. We ordered 4 meals and the food took 45 min to come out. It took them 30 min just to bring a can of soda and a glass l the table for each person that ordered a drink. Service is slow. Not super inviting. It felt awkward to order. I got the chaufa with beef. The beef pieces were touch and chewy. The rice flavor and texture was a big off. I have had some really good versions elsewhere but the rice was slight to saturated with liquid but not totally mushy. Pretty good for the area! I was recommended by a friend and decided to stop by, I loved that the staff was super nice and the food was fresh. I got the saltado plate ($20)and my friend got the lomo saltado ($16) but somehow it looked like the lomo saltado portion wise was more worth it than the plate. If you want to grab a quick bite, I recommend doing doordash pickup or call ahead because this place is sloow. First off been here before and had no issues (other than longer wait than normal for a place that is so small). But this time clearly they were struggling to get food out during a Monday lunch shift. About 30-40 minutes for my food man brings the wrong dish I ordered but I'm hungry so I eat it anyway. Food is not even hot (meaning it's been sitting) But then I notice a piece of meat completely raw. Good thing I decided to cut into my meat even though I already started eating it. Other customers were already in the place longer than I had been there and still waiting for food. They're visibly upset and confused as to what is going on in the kitchen. I'm an understanding person so I'm not trying to grill the guy as he's frantically pacing when he comes out of the back area. (Which he would be gone for long periods of time) But then I tell him and show the piece of meat and he struggles to explain that the meat is grilled delicately (I guess is what he's trying to explain) but then offers no sorry or takes responsibility for the mess that is his restaurant. And he runs back to the kitchen not even a care in the world about the raw meat. Picture below you tell me if I'm wrong about the meat being cooked. Luckily it was only one piece (I found) but who knows I already ate some of the food. I had nothing but good food experiences prior to this time. But the lack of ownership and responsibility for uncooked food should never be excused. Eat at your own risk here. I ordered a salteado plate to go, but unfortunately the meat was very tough and difficult to chew. I called to ask about a possible refund, and while I understand policies can vary, I felt my concern wasn't fully addressed. This wasn't a matter of personal taste--the meat was not really edible. Because of this, we weren't able to eat the meal, and even the empanadas had the same issue, so the food went to waste. I completely understand that if I simply don't like something, that's my responsibility. However, in this case, I was disappointed because the quality made it hard to enjoy the food at all. We were craving Peruvian food and were glad to have Fuego bookmarked. My husband and I shared the lomo saltado and a bacon tiki burger. The saltado was a delicious mix of beef, onions, tomatoes, and crispy fries, while the bacon tiki burger, made with ground beef, bacon, and grilled pineapple, was packed with flavor. We also split some cheese and beef empanadas with our friends. It was definitely more food than we could handle, but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. Luckily, the empanadas were just as good the next day after a quick spin in the air fryer. To wash it all down, we each got a large cup of chicha morada, one of our favorite Peruvian drinks. It's Friday night and we planned a dinner at another Peruvian place nearby but found out it was closed! After a quick check on Yelp I saw this place and it had great reviews. The place was in a small plaza next to another restaurant but this place stands out in decoration and colors of fire! It is very cute and my toddler did enjoy the photos of the fire mascot. Upon entering, they had table seating that booth setting meaning the seats were attached to the table. So as a group of 6, we had to split into two tables but luckily we were there and had our choice of tables to pick. The menu isn't very large which helps us decide what we wanted to try. We ordered 2 Lomo Saltado Chaufa, Chimichurri Steak and Chorizo, chicken wings (honey garlic pepper) and fries, lomo saltado fuego style, 6 garlic cheese empanadas, and 3 cans of Coke Zero. We ordered at the front and the staff was very helpful in helping us out with all the questions we had. We were also served ice water on cups and straws. The food came in waves but they looked amazing! Everything was delicious, we sort of did family style but the only one I didn't get to try was the chicken wings, the table that had it ate them all before I got to try them! The fries were still crispy and fluffy. The meat was flavorful, wish there was more on the dish but still great. The sauce was very different from what I'm used to and refreshing. They also gave us bottled sauces but they were very spicy! The nonspicy sauce was good, glad I got that one from the other table. We ate everything until my toddler woke up from his nap. He was hungry but is a very picky eater so we asked the staff if they can make a plain chicken nugget with fries. They don't have nuggets but they can cut up a chicken patty, and that worked out great! My toddler ate most of it! Great place, glad we came. We were randomly in the area and Fuego had some good ratings! I had also gone to Lima before and missed Peruvian food. It was also amazing that they can make most items vegan. We asked for recommendations and we got a pineapple mango habanero fries with vegan beef and the green rice with vegan lomo saltado. I love the aji sauce and they gave me a bit extra. Everything was delicious and the lomo saltado was so smoky. Egg was runny. Fries were crispy. The prices were a bit higher than I expected but I was satisfied with my meal. Against my best judgment I decided to check out Fuego, which was recommended by a friend. Its important to know that this friend of mine likes to eat pickled flavored popcorn. As you can imagine I was a little skeptical. Boy was I glad I took her advice. The food was delicious. We tried the new tacos and had a couple empanadas. However, the star of the night was the Lomo Saltado fries. Absolutely amazing!!! The service was impeccable and the staff did a tremendous job at ensuring you had an excellent dinning experience. I was shocked to find this place. I was driving from Riverside to DTLA, and on the way there, my girlfriend told me she's hungry. I had no idea where we were so I decided to go on yelp, search up "food," and see what comes up. Fuego was the first choice. I thought the name was a little cheesy and I don't normally eat this cuisine, so I was going to brush it off and continue searching. But I decided to look at the menu, and after seeing the first menu item, I already knew this is where we were going. They have a dish that has an 8oz steak, a big chorizo, French fries, a salad, and everything topped off with chimichurri. That's an insane amount of variety, and you get all of that for just $25. I was expecting the steak to be horrendous because... $25? Seriously? That's so cheap! But the steak was absolutely delicious, as was every other part of the dish. They also have REALLY good sauces for their fries. And they have a pretty big variety in terms of menu items, so there is something for everyone. The service was good, seems like a family owned place because of how good the service is.
