Vegetarian patty
Christine L.

The family came to use up a coupon from an SGV passport of a buy 1 get 1 free patty. I bought 1 vegetarian and a beef curry. Both were huge and delicious! Vegetarian totally caught me by surprise it was really flavorful and unique (collared greens?) Easily a good sizable snack that can also be a quick/easy meal for someone. Will be back to try the oxtail next time!

Oxtail Stew Plate

Had the oxtail stew and jerk chicken plate, and a beef patty. All were so flavorful! The oxtail was fall off the bone and the chicken was so juicy. This was my first time having Caribbean cuisine and I fear I've truly been missing out. I enjoyed everything on the plate from the vegetables to the rice! Really delicious and will be back!

Was craving some oxtail and found this spot that is raved about! Located inside a food hall with other business, this spot is easy to find and order from. Service and food was really quick. You can order to go or eat in tables they have at the hall. Large menu to choose from but I wanted to eat some oxtail. The plate was very well filled along with seasoned veggies and rice. I enjoyed every portion of the dish and the meat was very tender. I will definitely try again

Came on a Thursday night around 7pm to use my SGV passport for the bogo deal. Listened to the other yelper about buying two meat patties and I'm so glad I did. I enjoyed the beef as well but flavor is more noticeable on chicken. The hot sauce doesn't come with it but you can ask for it on the side. Hot sauce is a nice touch but be careful with the amount because it does have a kick! What I do love is that there's a lot of meat compared to pastry & the pastry itself is well made. I've also had the oxtail here and it's also amazing. It took maybe less than 10 minutes for me to receive my Jamaican patty order. The workers are very nice and you can tell they genuinely appreciate serving. I would come back again.

Veggie Puff Pastry

This is a no frills food stalls within the Blossom Market that stands out from their counterparts. It's good to see non-Asian stalls here and I was really craving a puff pastry. The veggie was the only non-spicy item, so decided to get that. Both my mom and I enjoyed it - hot to order and super flavorful. Wish we could order more from here, but the staff were pretty friendly! Would come back again

Curry chicken and rice and peas

Grate customer service, Grate Caribbean food, as a Jamaican, my go to is Curry Goat-(most weekend's) or curry chicken, the Oxtail is to write home about. I tried for the first time, Pepper Pot" (think it's a Guyanese dish), with bread. Man! It's good!!!. "Still the best price in town" The best Caribbean offers.... Remember there's also Homemade drinks and pastries. -CB

Curry chicken with Rotti & Rice! Second week in a row that I snatch this plate up during my weekly visit in the area.

Finally stumbled upon this place after having this bookmarked for a while since they opened. Was really craving some oxtails so this was the perfect place. Stopped by during lunch on a weekday and the market wasn't too busy. This restaurant is inside Blossom Market, which is a food hall consisting of multiple food/beverage stalls. Overall the dish was very delicious, in terms of flavor profile and how well each ingredient paired with each other. The oxtails were fall off the bone, extremely tender, didn't feel too fatty. I wish there was more spicy heat from the oxtails, there was practically no spice at all. The plantains were perfectly cooked, almost tasted like a banana mochi. The rice was my favorite, it had an amazing coconut aroma and nice little bits of peas for texture. The sauce from the oxtail paired perfectly with the rice. The veggies were a nice palate cleanser from the rich oxtail, unfortunately there was a strand of hair in there which I took out, no big deal. Counter ordering so not much service is being provided. Probably took around 6-7 minutes for the food to come out. It's open kitchen so you can see the workers prepping your food.

Caribbean Gourmet is located inside Blossom Market. Their menu includes various types of chicken plates, patties (empanadas like), pastries, and drinks. I stopped by to try their patties which look alike empanadas. I placed my order of the following: - chicken patty 5/5 - vegetarian patty 5/5 - jamaican beef patty 5/5 - Turkey patty 5/5 I wanted to try the different patties they have. The service was really fast. All the patties were very fresh, hot,and rich in flavors. The crust was golden and flaky. The fillings were very savory, juicy, well seasoned and flavorful. There was a letter on each kind of patty to differentiate between them. This was very nice and convenient. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I really enjoyed their patties. Definitely, I will stop by to order them again and try other Carribean dishes.

Everything I've ever gotten here is great. Latest thing I tried was the chicken curry. Delicious, with a generous portion. Everything was seasoned to perfection. Staff are always nice. My favorite so far is the oxtail. Love this food hall, so many great businesses. Support local!

I've had Caribbean Gourmet on my radar for a while and finally got a chance to try it - all I can say is I'm mad at myself for not trying it sooner! The food was so flavorful and comforting - reminded me of the southern soul food I grew up eating and I'll definitely be going out of my way to try some pastries and their weekend specials when I'm in the area! We tried the jerk chicken plate and the chicken curry roti for our first visit and loved them both. The jerk chicken was the clear winner for us though - perfect blend of warming spices on a flawlessly tender chicken quarter (dark meat), coupled with rice and a nice veggie blend - heaven itself! The rice was also incredibly flavorful - and I LOVED the roasted plantains - a perfect accompaniment! Absolutely would get again. The chicken curry roti was great too - tender white meat chicken in a savory stewed curry sauce with some more of those yummy marinated veggies. It was delicious but wasn't a typical curry flavor that you get in the area - definitely unique and authentic to the Caribbean style of dishes. It's a bit more spicy than I'm used to but I loved it. My only complaint was the texture of the roti bread - again it wasn't the style you typically see out here in SoCal. It was more coarse and very flaky - almost like a thick homemade tortilla as opposed to a pita style bread. It had a nice flavor overall but I wasn't a fan of the texture. But that's totally a personal preference and I would absolutely get the curry again - but I'd get it with the rice plate and I think that would be perfect.  A very friendly man eating next to me while I waited had a delectable looking dish as well - he said it was their saturday special of chicken stew and it looked AMAZING! He said it was his favorite dish here and goes out of his way to come get it. So I'll definitely be seeking that out next time I visit! The staff were insanely friendly - so warm and welcoming and excited to help me pick out my first dishes to try. Chef Yonette Alleyne originally hails from Guyana and she started this delicious restaurant as a pop up - her cooking is incredible and authentic and something everyone should have on their LA must try list! She has now made Blossom Market Hall her home - and Caribbean Gourmet is definitely a star in the food hall lineup here. Order at the counter and they'll give you a buzzer. The vibe in the market hall is lively and inviting - with lots of seating options and promising dessert choices once you've finished your dinner. You'll find Caribbean Gourmet right inside the main entrance and there's plenty of free parking on site. Prices are decent considering the quality and the portions are massive. Can't wait to come back and try the specials and pastries!!

Jerk chicken Pattie
May W.

Tip: Food takes around 30-40 mins. So I placed a phone order to go so that wait time would be reduced. Parking: Dedicated parking lot for the food market hall. Tables: There is a shared cafeteria communal space throughout the food hall. Jerk Chicken Plate: Personally, I loved the jerked chicken plate out of everything that was ordered. They really packed a big portion chicken breast and chicken leg in the plate. It was also paired well with savory chick pea flavored coconut rice. Pan-fried plantains were sooo good. I liked that the plantains weren't heavily sweetened with sugar, and there was a good amount of moisture to the plantains. Jerk chicken pattie: Reminds me of a Vietnamese puff pastry stuffed with flavorful chicken. Good but not surprising. Chicken curry + Rotti: Rotti was similar to Indian naan, where you stuff the rotti with chicken curry and peas. Chicken curry was soft and flavorful. Chick peas were surprisingly spicy, packed with herbs and spice.

If the drive home wasn't so long, I would've loved to get a pint of this to-go. Vietnamese Coffee: 4/5, pretty tasty. However, it would 've been nice if it was slightly more bitter. Kue Gapit (Dutch-Indonesian coconut waffle cookies): 4/5. A 4oz bag costed $9. Made in-house, these were solid snacks that were not super sweet and had a great crispiness. The coconut flavor was prominent and enjoyable. The gelato textures were more icy than creamy/whipped/smooth, but I didn't mind because they weren't as heavy as other gelato. Also, the flavors were so lovely. Close to the end of my single split scoop cup ($6.50 for the single and $0.50 for the split aka two flavors), I ended up stirring together both the Cookies 'n Matcha and the Vietnamese Coffee, and the resulting mixture tasted amazing. The lady working there that Saturday afternoon was patient, offered samples, and was knowledgeable. The little nook that Jasmine Creamery was in at the Blossom Market Hall appeared clean and neatly organized. I also appreciated the Indonesian vibes with the unique flavors and batik items.

Holbox is a Mexican seafood spot inside Mercado La Paloma and the quality of the food seriously speaks for itself. You can tell there's real care and freshness put into every dish. It absolutely deserves all the recognition it gets as one of LA's standout seafood spots. I had the ceviche mixto with rice and a shrimp taco and both were sooo good. The ceviche was bright fresh flavorful and packed with seafood. The shrimp taco was perfectly balanced and honestly one of those tacos you think about later. My partner got the smoked kanpachi taco and a shrimp plate that neither of us can remember the exact name of but the sauce on it was INSANE. We were literally talking about it the whole meal. My daughter got the coctel and loved it too. Even the lemonade was electric... refreshing flavorful and honestly one of the best lemonades I've had in a while. Everything tasted fresh clean and thoughtfully prepared without feeling pretentious. The whole meal felt comforting while still being exciting and unique. Overall this place absolutely lived up to the reviews and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in LA. Holbox is officially worth the hype.

As I have stated before I'm harder on island cuisine cause I'm an islander. Yes I love the concept I love the look, but I this is a spot I'd take my friend who liked Caribbean and didn't like their meals seasoned. Ordered the one beef and one chicken patty but when. Our order came she informed us they ran out of chicken. Not sure if they make the beef patty there or not? The filling was cool there was definitely seasoning. The crust was good. Everything with the patty reminded me of a JA Patty. I'm not saying they Tower or Tasty but it's good. The brown stew chicken was begging to be a start but ended up like an extra on a movie. The cabbage I wouldn't even call it a side of cabbage more like a garnish of cabbage was missing that mark. The peas and rice I was pleased they used dried peas and not canned and I was pleased they used coconut milk but they didn't use enough and the thyme scallions ginger allspice cloves salt were all missing like a wanted poster. Now we all know oxtails price has increased from dirt cheap high as hell, but oxtails for there price need to undoubtedly be the star of your show. These weren't the star of any show. When you eat oxtails your suppose to be like damn licking them fingers more than the colonels chicken.
