We visited this restaurant at the beginning of Dine LA for lunch ($35). When we arrived, the door was locked and had to be let in by the staff though there were at least 5 other parties dining there. I thought that was a bit odd, but I guess it was to detract from unwelcomed guests (i.e. homless people)? Anyhow, we were seated right away and sat by the window which was nice! We were given the menus, but I had to specifically ask for the DineLA menu which I also thought was a bit odd since it seemed like they wanted us to order off their regular menu. Perhaps this was just an oversight. For starters, we ordered 1 of each that was offered: Ceviche Carretillero - Refreshing and brought me back to time spent in Peru! I preferred this option Salpicon - This was also refreshing and reminded me of chicken salad mix in a bowl though not sure I would order it without it being a part of a prix fixe. For the main course, we ordered: Saltado Salad - This had minimal protein and was not so satisfying when compared to a traditional lomo saltado, but the protein that was there was yummy. Aji Gallina - I really was excited to see this on their menu since I love this dish so much and don't see it offered too often at Peruvian restaurants. Though the sauce was good, the chicken was VERY dry and hard to chew (overcooked) so it took a while to finish this. In lieu of desserts, they offered Maracuya (passion fruit) and Chicha Morada (purple corn) juices which were yummy but the star of the show was their sangria which was delicious especially on a hot day. My only complaint about the sangria was that we were charged for 3 carafes when we only got 2. Once we identified this, we brought it up and just went ahead and enjoyed the 3rd one since we had already settled the bill. That being said, always double check your receipt!

As an update to my review, the manager messaged me and told me that the "peanuts" were "cancha serrana", a crunchy corn snack from Peru. I appreciate the management for reaching out. However, I asked the server if they were peanuts and they said YES!!! Of course I listened to the server, who would obviously know more about the dish than me. There could've been a miscommunication issue there, but either way it could've been explained either on the menu or verbally when we expressed our allergy concerns that we did not need to worry. I wish I tried them now.

Solid, outstanding dishes. I'm not a Peruvian cuisine connoisseur but we really enjoyed the food, it's flavorful and authentic. Generous portions good for sharing. I love the vibe, industrial feel of the place. I suggest to get a reservation since it can get very busy. Service was a bit chaotic, slow but we were not in a hurry. The timing is a bit off. Would love to come back and try more dishes next time.

A beautiful restaurant with lively vibe! Great wine selection for wine lovers, and a simple cocktail menu for the liquor fan. They gave me a mega pint for my gin tonic, which I am far from complaining. The staff is super kind, super attentive to make sure our beverages and table was clear. We ordered: Anticuchos - Heart Skewers with a side of roasted potatoes, peruvian corn and rocoto sauce. I am an organ meat fan so this hit the spot. Add a dash of the rocoto sauce as it brings the flavor to a new level Bistec Con Tllarin Verde: The rib eye steak was perfectly cooked medium rare, seasoned simply. They do provide sauces on the side to enjoy of course. It comes with a savory Creamy pesto Linguine to pair with the protein. To share with a group of 5, additionally a dish called Chancho Al Palo : Rotisserie Style Pork, with their crispy skin, sweet plantains and white rice. Comes with a lovely Salsa Criolla. Another well perfected pork, keeping its savory juice within. The Salsa Criolla tops it up to the finest pairing

First time eating at a Peruvian restaurant and oh my goodness I loved it! We called a few hours before for a reservation for 8 people on a Saturday night at 7:30pm and they had a spot for us. I believe they have seating in the back for larger parties! The portions are huge and I would recommend sharing if you're not so much of a heavy eater. We got the Milanesa de pollo which was bomb paired with the pesto pasta! Service was great, the servers knew their menu and ingredients so well. My friends ordered the ceviche which was delicious and one of their most popular! Our other friend ordered the lomo saltado which was great but just a little salty in my opinion. However, overall we loved it and would definitely be a place to recommend other friends to go to.

Great Peruvian food! We came here to celebrate a birthday and they did a great job accommodating a large group! We ordered sangrias for the table and they were amazing!! The waiter was very attentive and continued to check in and ensured that everyone in the group was well served! We ordered various dishes including the lomo saltado and genuinely you can't go wrong w any of the plates. They are large portions, I believe you can share one plate between two people. I'd recommend family style ordering for this place. Really pretty place a nice a warm atmosphere perfect for a birthday or a celebration! Would recommend! Rating: 9.5/10

First time here and planning on returning. The food is authentic but you have to be patient, it is truly cooked to order. The ambience is casual but a good drink like the pisco sour makes the wait go by easy. Had the lomo saltado, a staple of any Peruvian restaurant- loved the tender beef and veggies were fresh complimenting the dish. The chancho was my favorite, crispy suckling pig with tender , juicy meat- what's not to love. Skin was crunchy, with a hint of sweetness in a good way. This dish is only available Friday through Sunday- this will definitely make me return quicker.

2/12/26: Lights! Camera! Acción! My gorgeous girlfriend surprised me with tickets to the Jennifer Hudson Show for a pre-Valentine's LA Road Trip! After our continental breakfast at our hotel before the show, plus some pre-show vending machine snacks, and awesome albeit lengthy live tv show experience, we were ready to yell "CUT!" on the day & head to dinner! Vibe check: synchronicity! While perusing Yelp for places in Pasadena, we decided we were in the mood for either ramen or lomo. We instinctually chose the latter & went with Peruvian food. Enter Bodegon No 69! Ready for its close up, it did not disappoint! From our guest starring hostess who offered us the cozy, romantic table in front, to our special guest server who recommended the Pisco Sours as an adlib to our initial martini request. It worked! Leave it in the script! As we spoke about the phenomenal Taraji P Henderson's appearance on the show earlier, we eyed our Hidden Figures...the Starter Menu! Choclo Serrano & Causa Limena to the set! The double C combo satiated our hunger pangs instantly! Bravo to the Best Supporting Cast! A climactic scene was building, as we locked eyes, while planning our future over strong drinks and even stronger chemistry! Still got that spark! Enter our stars: Lomo Saltado and Aji de Gallina! Oscar worthy flavor & plentiful portions of food! Deliciosity (is this even a word?!) thy name is Bodegon No 69! Chill vibe, good service, great food, and a divinely stunning co-star who shines brighter than a champagne supernova in the sky! TL:DR - Find someone you can love like crazy and who will love you the same way back.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant over the weekend with my mother and sister. From the moment we walked in, everything was exceptional. The customer service was warm and welcoming, the restaurant was clean and well maintained, and the ambiance created the perfect dining experience. What made this visit especially memorable was how authentic the food tasted. I recently spent two amazing weeks in Peru, and this meal instantly took me back. I was able to enjoy two of my favorite Peruvian dishes, and they were absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and a wonderful atmosphere. It was truly an amazing experience, and I look forward to coming back. The only thing that could have made it even better would have been if they offered traditional picarones for dessert!

    LOMO SALTADO
    Charlene K.

I came with my friends on a Thursday night and got seated immediately. We were all craving lomo saltado - it was generously portioned and tender. We also got the yuca fries with the yellow creamy sauce which was our favorite. My only issue was that a questionable stand of a few dessert cookies were out in the open air and in reach of customers by the front door, which if it's not complementary, I don't see why it wouldn't at least be covered and properly handled.

This place is solid--but not life-changing. First off: get a reservation it can get crowded Bottom line: tasty food and worth a visitl with a great vibe for friends or even date. I enjoyed it.

The food here was genuinely delicious, bold flavors, well-prepared dishes, and overall a great dining experience from a culinary standpoint. Service was also good. Our server was attentive, kind, and did his best to make sure we were taken care of throughout the night. That said, this isn't the best spot for a larger group or a special occasion. We were celebrating my parents' 47th anniversary, and while we didn't mind being seated about 20 minutes late, the seating itself was disappointing. We were placed in a back room with dim lighting and long, shared tables that made it difficult to get in and out, especially if you were seated in the middle. The space felt cramped, poorly ventilated, and appeared to double as a storage area, which took away from the celebratory feel. They also ran out of Coke before 8pm, which was a bit surprising. Overall, the food and service really carried the experience, which is why I'm still giving 4 stars. I'd absolutely come back for a date or a small group (4 or fewer), but I wouldn't recommend it for a memorable celebration or larger party.

First time customers Family went to have lunch for Mother's Day. Nice decor, friendly service and big servings. We ordered two appetizers to share in addition to the individual orders. Food we ordered were all good. Servings are big so we ended up taking home some leftovers overs. Will come back and bring the rest of the family. It seems the place can accommodate a big group.

Tender, juicy beef, delicious fries and sauce, white rice, red onions, and roasted red peppers. The Pollo à la Brasa was off the hook. We got a half chicken with fried plantains and Peruvian beans. Absolutely delectable. Chicken was juicy and tender with perfectly crisp skin. Seasoning was just right. Fried plantains were best I've ever had. Lightly fried with a moist and lightly sweet interior. We also tried an order of Papas Huancaina. The potatoes were perfectly tender, and the sauce had a nice little kick without being too much. Service was impeccable. People constantly checked on us on the patio. The World Cup was playing on two flatscreen TVs on the patio and two flatscreen TVs inside. Everyone here is happy! DineLA started tonight and did we make the perfect selection to kick off the two weeks!…read more Service was 5-star! Gilberto was excellent...offering suggestions and explaining options as we were first time patrons of Malbec! So on to the food! Course 1: both the Cebiche Aji Amarillo albacore tuna and yucca chips and the Vieras Gratinadas scallop crab were beautifully presented. Tuna was packed with flavor and great texture layers. Scallop was more delicate and mild flavors. Second course: the out of this world Ojo de Bife Al Malbec rib eye ... would 100% order again and the excellent as well Pollo à la Granja. Sauces on both dishes were super star! Argentinian cuisine obviously treats us to incredible culinary herbs and spices (fresh dill on the scallops and rosemary on the chicken) Third course: dessert for days! Crepe De Durzano .. light crepes and gelato... and the too die for Pastelito de Membrillo. Fruity summary crispy tart like dessert with gelato and fresh berries! Lovely wine pairings suggested by Gilberto made it all a 5-star experience! We will be back!

Came to Malbec Argentinean Cuisine in Pasadena with friends this past Wednesday for dinner. We…read morearrived early enough to catch happy hour before our 5:45 p.m. reservation. We started at the bar with Ernesto, who was wonderful. He recommended the Moscow Mule because they make their ginger syrup in-house, and it was delicious. The red sangria was also a hit. For happy hour food, we tried the spicy beef empanadas, 5 oz skirt steak (entraña) with peppercorn sauce, and cebiche mixto. Everything was great. Our only mistake was not ordering fries to dip into that peppercorn sauce! After happy hour, we moved to our table and met our server Eder. He was sweet, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine. He made an excellent wine recommendation to pair with our dinner and started us off with complimentary warm baguette and classic chimichurri. For dinner, we ordered the Tabla Mixta with ribeye and short ribs. The meats arrived sizzling on cast iron and were cooked perfectly medium-rare. It came with three chimichurri sauces, with the garlic chimichurri being my favorite. Honestly, the meats were seasoned so well they didn't even need sauce. We also tried the Arroz con Mariscos and added Argentinean chorizo. The octopus, mussels, clams, shrimp, and scallops were all cooked perfectly. The rice was a little too wet for my preference since I enjoy the crispy, scorched bottom of a Spanish-style paella, but the seafood itself was excellent. The ambiance is lively and can get pretty loud, so we had to speak a little louder than normal. My only real complaint was the temperature in the main dining room. It was extremely warm throughout our visit, even with the AC supposedly running at full power. Interestingly, the area near the restrooms was noticeably cooler. This was really the only thing keeping our experience from being 5 stars. Parking around Green Street can be challenging, but street parking is free. We got lucky and found a spot down the block. There's also a paid public lot near Green and Mentor. Overall, Malbec delivered excellent food and even better service. Ernesto and Eder were both fantastic and really elevated our experience. We'll definitely be back for happy hour and dinner with friends and family.
