DO NOT ALLOW BOB'S TOWING to tow your car. They will mislead you, entrap you when you're in a vulnerable position by being quick on the scene to tow your car after an accident. They will be rude and punishing if you don't use their repair shop -- once they get your car in their possession after towing. This was one of the worst customer experiences of my life. I was tricked into letting Bob's Towing company in Campbell tow my car from an accident on 85 Freeway and De Anza. THE SITUATION: Although my insurance company had arranged for another tow company, the CHP officer on the scene of the accident suggested it would be "faster in getting off the freeway" if I used Bob's Towing. CHP promised the same service as the tow company my insurance arranged. So, I canceled the other tow service, and agreed to go with the "faster" service. (This was all being decided under duress -- trauma of getting into an accident, it's getting dark, we're stranded on the freeway, cars whizzing by and everyone is wanting to go home.) END RESULT: On the freeway, after being in a accident, Bob's towing arrived, then exhorted me saying I would have to pay cash of $170 to drop my car off at my preferred body shop, which was actually closer than theirs (PLEASE NOTICE the "owner" claims they will drop off a car for $75). When I said no, the tow serviceman then said I could simply get my insurance company to tow the car to my shop the next day. Next day, Bob's made me come in person, rudely refused to release my car because I would not get my repairs done there (they reminded me that they too accepted my USAA insurance). My husband, whose name in on the registration, now needs to personally appear at Bob's Towing to get our car released to the other body shop. He's on vacation in a remote area with only a land line phone connection. He wanted to discuss the matter by phone with Bob's staff, but Bob said that since I "did not have the right attitude" that they will not release the car -- choosing to hold to a technicality to make it difficult for us. read more

First I was told it is about 90 mins, then when 90 mins passed I got a call saying need to wait for another 60 mins. When the driver came he said my battery is dead, and I don't need to tow the car to the dealer and he said he will come back to help for install the battery with just few bucks installation fee. Then he got us signed the tow service completed so that he can get the payment from the insurance company for the tow service. And then he left, and I never heard from the company again. If I ever need a towing service in the San Jose area, there is no question I'm going to request Bob's towing. Dispatcher was friendly. Truck driver (Ron) was awesome. Friendly, chatty, jolly, with a kind smile. You could tell he takes pride in his job. On top of all that, I was told the tow truck would come in 1 hour, and Bob's Towing got their truck to me in about 15 or 20 minutes. I was all grumpy when my insurance company screwed everything up and the first towing company they dispatched left when everything didn't go as smoothly as they wanted. I leave them un-named. They don't even deserve to be mentioned. My insurance company then called Bob's Towing next. When Ron of Bob's arrived 45 minutes early with a friendly demeanor and smile, I was very happy. It was cold. I was sitting in my dead car, and Ron had my car lifted and ready to take to the auto shop in a matter of minutes. Well done Bob's Towing employees. OH...and the tow truck was beautiful. I know...it sounds silly; a beautiful tow truck. But this thing was huge and in perfect condition. High quality all the way around. I'm a big fan of Bob's Towing now. It took only 20 minutes for Brian to show up, 5 minutes to hook up my car, and 10 minutes to get to the mechanic (which was a WAY worse experience!). Obviously I needed my car towed, so I called the Volkswagen Certified Roadside Assistance Service, and after 25 minutes of the dispatcher trying to get a hold of this towing company, he finally let me know that he had put in the call to them. I asked for their phone number so that I could call them if I needed to, as the dispatcher told me that it would be just under an hour before Bob's towing could reach me. I called my AAA person and asked her to send a different towing service, because waiting an hour for a tow truck is ridiculous, and AAA is always much faster. When she told me that they had placed the request for them to pick up my car, I got off the phone with AAA and called Bob's Towing. It had been about 15 minutes since the VW dispatcher had requested Bob's Towing's services. When the receptionist picked up the phone I asked for a better estimate of how much time it would be before their tow truck would reach me. She was so RUDE to me. She had such an attitude, and when she told me that it was going to be at least 45 minutes, I requested that she cancel them coming to my location. She just said, "Uhhhhh, you REEEEEEALLYYYY wanna cancel them?!" And I said yes. It's not my job to explain my choices to you, just cancel the tow truck and leave it at that. Her attitude was ridiculous. Maybe they should train their receptionist better, and not be rude to potential customers. AAA is much faster, and they send great companies to come and assist you. I would NEVER recommend this company, and if you have the unfortunate luck to be stuck speaking with their immature receptionist, I feel sorry for you. read more

My truck looked better than new, you couldn't tell there was ever a dent and they even washed it! For the people complaining about how they ran out of gas and it was so expensive... This company charges $10 per gallon for gasoline if you are out of gas. This is in addition to the delivery fee which is paid for by GEICO. This is outrageous. Do not use this company if you are out of gas. I have put in a complaint to GEICO as well since GEICO did not know what they are charging. read more

I called this towing company through my insurance for my Step -Son Car 2015 Ford Mustang. The appointment was at 9:00 they show up at 9:35 they didn't bother to call me and said they are coming 30 minutes late. The guy who was driving the tow truck with long beard was very rude and he was asking me to steering the car and was asking me for help all the time. I think they have to be more professional and not asking the customer too much for help. Also, I told them to bring air because my car need it and they ignored that. Unfortunately I have to leave a really bad review for this service. Sorry, but not sorry since I requested a tow through my auto insurance, and the requested tow NEVER CAME after waiting the 75-85 minute estimated time which is already a long time to wait. After that time was up, I had no correspondence with anyone...insurance or the tow shop. Desperate, I called the towing company after waiting 80 minutes to request an estimate since I had 20 minutes before the mechanic shop I needed a ride to 2 miles away was closing. While the lady on the phone was polite, she said that the towing guys were taking care of a police call and that there was no one else available to take me. I didn't have many options so I said sure I'll wait. Well, guess that didn't work for them or they didn't like my desperate tone since I had my request cancelled after 15 minutes, and my auto insurance sheepishly called to tell me I was assigned a new towing service, with no explanation why Bob's bailed on me. The second tow wait also took an hour + in addition to what I had waited for before. I waited 3 hours for a really nice tow guy who helped me out, but seriously, Bob's Towing? Nah. Our car was towed and when we tried to pick it up they refused to recognize valid registration wanting to keep the car for another. They would not let us get registration out of car and would not release the car without it and would not look in car. We were forced call the police who were able to get the car returned after 1 hr of wasted time. THIS COMPANY EXPLOITS THE VULNERABILITY OF THE CLIENT after a traumatic event.We had the most unpleasant experience with Bob's Towing. My son had his first car accident which resulted in his car being towed by Bob's Towing. He was quite shaken by the experience, so when the police asked if he was going to call a tow truck himself or if he would like them to call one, he said yes thinking it was a nice gesture and not being in the right state of mind to search for one. Our son was not given any information on process, fees, etc. and they just took his car to their yard. The next morning my husband went with my son to Bob's Towing and was told they were closed and to come back on Monday. The car was towed Friday evening and because we returned on Monday per their instructions it was a 4 day charge of $95 per day, they use calendar days. Also their tow fees are 2.5 times more expensive than other companies, we recently had a different tow in Campbell for a longer tow distance and a more difficult extraction of the care for $85; and Bob's charged $235. Their communications were poor and would not let us get near the car to extract our content from it. In retrospect, they treated us like criminals and as if the car was impounded. Overall, it was a terrible, humiliating, and sad experience. read more

Bobs towing is an amazing towing company, I have gotten James (employee #45) every single time I have needed a tow and he's treated my car Like his own little baby and has given great and very respectful service each time. James has gone out of his way every time to make sure that my car wasn't damaged more than it already was when any other person with less experience may not have had the knowledge to do so. I'm going to request him every tiime because I've never had tow service that I was happier with. So me and my wife were in a three car accident that was totally someone else's fault. The CHP let us go with no ticket but said our insurance couldn't tow the car from the freeway so bobs towing was called by them. Upon arrival it took some guy almost an hour to hook it up. He said that I can pay to have it taken to my house but it is 215 an hour and I will be charged for 2 hours which made no sense. So he said if we take it to the yard you can just leave it there and pay 300 plus 85 for overnight, I said fine because I was tired and wanted to go home. The next day I call up the yard and some lady answers the phone in the most unprofessional tone I've ever heard. She tells me to bring registration and ID or she can't release the car to me. It was almost as if she automatically assumed I didn't have it, I said that's fine, it's in the car. When we get there the same lady who was on the phone, looks at me with a rude demeanor and days can I help you. I explained I was there for my car and gave her my license, I told her the registration is on the window because the car is new. She sends her boss a nice middle Eastern man who retrieves my registration from the window. She looks at her boss with a smug face and says what am I gonna do with this. I told her that the CHP used the same paper for registration last night and there was no problem. She looks at me and says yeah but it's not the actual one, do you have the original. I said that's all the dealership gave me and it clearly had my name on it. She looks at her boss and he says it's fine we can use that. At that point she had a look of disappointment and said 300$ dollars and then asked me, "how are you gonna get it out of here, it can't be driven. I told her I have a tow truck waiting out front to tow it to my house. She looked even more mad and then my tow truck driver walks in, she immediately pre judged his jeans and t-shirt look and said are you even licensed where is your towcard. He said I didn't bring it but the boss once again said it's fine. She finally gave me my receipt and I said nothing. At this point I'm feeling like she just wants to just keep my car and is being extremely uncooperative for no apparent reason. My car wasn't impounded and I did nothing wrong and didn't even get a ticket. I felt a real lack of respect from these people and she was very unprofessional. She made it as difficult as she could for me and I don't know why. I don't recommend this place to anyone. This place is trash because you lady at the counter treated me like trash. He found one nail on one of my tires and spent time to replace this tire with my spare tire. Then he added more air to the replacement tire, put the problem tire into my trunk, and suggested me to use it as a spare tire after it is repaired. There are few things more frustrating than a broken down vehicle but my trusty Amex card comes with free roadside assistance and they hired Bob's towing as the third party company to come help me. The company quoted 55 minutes so we headed out so we could beat them there since my car had already been stuck at an off-beat venue off of Hwy 17 in Los Gatos for over a week. They were supposed to meet us at 9:09am and at 9:05am got a call that they canceled the job because it was "out of the area" which is odd because their location seems to be in Campbell which is less than 15 miles from here. So we had to wait an additional hour for the next tow truck. Bottom line, this place is unreliable and should have confirmed the location before taking the job.
