The owner asked me start the car interrupting me while I was checking if the engine had oil in it (my car was recovered). Moreover, he was so irritated by the fact that I was checking if the engine had oil in it! This sums to the fact that the owner doesn't seems to know much about cars and foolish in some sense! The service was good but I left my stuff in the tow truck... I called in multiple times and they all kept saying that there was nothing in the tow truck. Lost my vessel pen and my bose earbuds. Never trust anyone you never met. The management vouched for the guy but I'm positive, he took em. When he left, my buds disconnected. I tracked my pen long enough to know it was in the tow truck. There's nothing like realizing your phone has been stolen. Except when you realize your phone has been stolen and your car won't start. My car roadside service company contracted out Bob's Towing and I couldn't be happier. Ron showed up and managed to jump start my car with the help of a booster. He then expertly and calmly explained what was happening inside my engine and related it to his experience with similar models which was very comforting! He even offered to follow me over to a car place, which came in handy when my car died AGAIN 2 minutes later. He gave me another jump, and then followed me to the car place and got them to get their act together (more on that to follow in my next review) Ron is the best! read more

This review is pertaining to James Brandt I had the worst day when my car got a flat on the freeway during my lunch break which caused me to lose 2 hrs at work. I swapped it with a spare and took it to a nearby tire shop. That evening after I got off work and I paid for a brand new tire, the shop I took it to did not correctly install the tire and again I found myself stranded on the freeway with a flat. James was contacted by my insurance company and was onsite in what felt like no time at all. Even if he had taken a while, I would've still been satisfied because his positive attitude, friendly demeanor and willingness to take total control of the situation made everything so much easier for me. It felt like he took the entire load of my day on his shoulders and sent me home with nothing else to figure out. He was the best part of my bad day. Thank you James for your care. read more

I lost my last fob key to my BRZ and my car needed to be towed from the second floor parking garage at work to the dealer in order to reprogram another fob. (downside of newer cars ) James came sooner than expected and had my BRZ hooked up and ready to go so fast! Plus he expertly maneuvered throughly tough corners. This review is for James Brandt. He came to tow my car one night when my right tire popped and my car was leaking oil. To save me some time he told me before arriving that he had an alternative way to tow the car instead of using a flatbed since it will take longer, which was great. When he arrived he made sure i was comfortable since it was late at night and was freezing. Once we reached the dealership to drop off my car he helped me coordinate the overnight drop off before taking off. He was a great and speedy help that night. Thanks James! read more

I locked the keys in the delivery van with flowers inside and a very tight schedule. I called Bob's towing and was told the driver would be there soon, not to worry. I was already worried, stressed and tripping that I would not be able to meet my responsibilities. The young man arrived within 15 minutes and made quick work unlocking the door. Worst service ever. I was in a severe accident. The tow truck was called by chp. The driver amir told me it would be 353$ to tow it to my house and we were wasting time. When he got to my house he said it was 470 to put the car in my driveway. He said for 400$ he would leave it in the middle of our street. Following an argument he left the car in the middle of the street and drove away. I'm filing a consumer complaint as well. Never use this company. read more

My neighbors car wouldn't start so she called Bob's towing. I came over to help while she was waiting because I have some experience as a mechanic. Josh arrived and was excellent. He calmed the situation down, helped unload everything she had in the car (a fully loaded Honda Pilot). He also took the time to understand the situation so he could communicate to the garage and checked all of the obvious things (and a few that aren't so obvious) to see if the tow was actually needed. He was professional, careful handling tools that he needed to change the spare tire. Sometimes some people are just not careful handling other people's tools and equipment. DO NOT ALLOW BOB'S TOWING to tow your car. They will mislead you, entrap you when you're in a vulnerable position by being quick on the scene to tow your car after an accident. They will be rude and punishing if you don't use their repair shop -- once they get your car in their possession after towing. This was one of the worst customer experiences of my life. I was tricked into letting Bob's Towing company in Campbell tow my car from an accident on 85 Freeway and De Anza. THE SITUATION: Although my insurance company had arranged for another tow company, the CHP officer on the scene of the accident suggested it would be "faster in getting off the freeway" if I used Bob's Towing. CHP promised the same service as the tow company my insurance arranged. So, I canceled the other tow service, and agreed to go with the "faster" service. (This was all being decided under duress -- trauma of getting into an accident, it's getting dark, we're stranded on the freeway, cars whizzing by and everyone is wanting to go home.) END RESULT: On the freeway, after being in a accident, Bob's towing arrived, then exhorted me saying I would have to pay cash of $170 to drop my car off at my preferred body shop, which was actually closer than theirs (PLEASE NOTICE the "owner" claims they will drop off a car for $75). When I said no, the tow serviceman then said I could simply get my insurance company to tow the car to my shop the next day. Next day, Bob's made me come in person, rudely refused to release my car because I would not get my repairs done there (they reminded me that they too accepted my USAA insurance). My husband, whose name in on the registration, now needs to personally appear at Bob's Towing to get our car released to the other body shop. He's on vacation in a remote area with only a land line phone connection. He wanted to discuss the matter by phone with Bob's staff, but Bob said that since I "did not have the right attitude" that they will not release the car -- choosing to hold to a technicality to make it difficult for us. read more

If I ever need a towing service in the San Jose area, there is no question I'm going to request Bob's towing. Dispatcher was friendly. Truck driver (Ron) was awesome. Friendly, chatty, jolly, with a kind smile. You could tell he takes pride in his job. On top of all that, I was told the tow truck would come in 1 hour, and Bob's Towing got their truck to me in about 15 or 20 minutes. I was all grumpy when my insurance company screwed everything up and the first towing company they dispatched left when everything didn't go as smoothly as they wanted. I leave them un-named. They don't even deserve to be mentioned. My insurance company then called Bob's Towing next. When Ron of Bob's arrived 45 minutes early with a friendly demeanor and smile, I was very happy. It was cold. I was sitting in my dead car, and Ron had my car lifted and ready to take to the auto shop in a matter of minutes. Well done Bob's Towing employees. OH...and the tow truck was beautiful. I know...it sounds silly; a beautiful tow truck. But this thing was huge and in perfect condition. High quality all the way around. I'm a big fan of Bob's Towing now. Negative experience . I didn't call Bob's towing, but officer did and insisted to I work with them. We negotiate price to Antioch from San Jose $900 and they charged me upfront. In a few miles truck driver called me and said he couldn't go there and he will pay me back $450 for two hours. After we put towing car from his truck to my trailer he changed his mind and signed bill with return $225 only. However I haven't got any return yet. I called their office, I was promised that they will figure out what is going on, but no one called me back. Looks like a fraud. read more

Dead car a few days ago was towed by Bob's Towing in a flash. My insurance company arranged for their arrival and told me 45 minutes. It took only 20 minutes for Brian to show up, 5 minutes to hook up my car, and 10 minutes to get to the mechanic (which was a WAY worse experience!). Obviously I needed my car towed, so I called the Volkswagen Certified Roadside Assistance Service, and after 25 minutes of the dispatcher trying to get a hold of this towing company, he finally let me know that he had put in the call to them. I asked for their phone number so that I could call them if I needed to, as the dispatcher told me that it would be just under an hour before Bob's towing could reach me. I called my AAA person and asked her to send a different towing service, because waiting an hour for a tow truck is ridiculous, and AAA is always much faster. When she told me that they had placed the request for them to pick up my car, I got off the phone with AAA and called Bob's Towing. It had been about 15 minutes since the VW dispatcher had requested Bob's Towing's services. When the receptionist picked up the phone I asked for a better estimate of how much time it would be before their tow truck would reach me. She was so RUDE to me. She had such an attitude, and when she told me that it was going to be at least 45 minutes, I requested that she cancel them coming to my location. She just said, "Uhhhhh, you REEEEEEALLYYYY wanna cancel them?!" And I said yes. It's not my job to explain my choices to you, just cancel the tow truck and leave it at that. Her attitude was ridiculous. Maybe they should train their receptionist better, and not be rude to potential customers. AAA is much faster, and they send great companies to come and assist you. I would NEVER recommend this company, and if you have the unfortunate luck to be stuck speaking with their immature receptionist, I feel sorry for you. read more

My review is for James Brandt at Bob's Towing. He is awesome and I'd like to publicly thank him. Yesterday I had a problem with my relatively new car, it wouldn't start or lock or anything. No power at all. I was in a complete panic and about to completely implode. Roadside assistance dispatched for towing service, and James took the call. He not only got my car to start, but he quickly assessed the problem and was clear and articulate and calm. He calmed me down right away and I appreciated that more than anything.
