If you're looking for a great BBQ spot with a great atmosphere, Bobby Q's is definitely worth checking out! The atmosphere and ambiance were excellent, making it a really enjoyable place to sit down and have a meal. We started with the loaded baked potato, and it was delicious. The potato was cooked just right, not too hard and not overly soft, with just the right amount of butter and toppings. We also ordered the ranch salad. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, although I would have liked to see a few more cucumbers. The jalapeño cheddar sausage plate had just the right amount of spice. The flavor was good, but unfortunately, the sausage was a little too rubbery. It seemed like it may have been cooked just a bit too long. Still, it had good flavor and was enjoyable. And if you like sweet tea, theirs definitely lives up to the name! It was sweet. Overall, the food was good, the atmosphere was great, and the prices seemed very reasonable. Definitely a place I'd consider coming back to and trying something else from the menu.

We were there last night. The food, the drinks and the friendliness of the staff were excellent as always. My complaint about last night is about the temperature of the restaurant. It was so warm that I started sweating. They had some portable AC around, so obviously their main AC wasn't working properly. I know this things happen, but they should had tell us in advance about the temperature problem, or maybe they could have suggested us to sit closer to the portable AC so we could be more comfortable. We were expecting to enjoy a good moment. It didn't happen

This place is a must try! The ambiance is so fun! We had a party of 6 and were easily accommodated! The food was all delicious! We ate family style and ordered a ton of apps and shared it all. The service was great! The guy at the bar was so kind. There were no complaints. Everyone was very satisfied! Definitely recommend giving them a try!

Our visit to Bobby Q in Mesa began a bit roughly - but TL;DR; the good news is some great staff turned the evening around! How a team reacts to problems tells me more about the place than just having a 3 or 4 star experience - this group showed experience, grace, and real concern. To start - if you want a booth, make sure you specify that when you put in your name - it changes the wait time. While we waited, we ordered Cokes from the bar, and Marquis gave a warm welcome and great service! Upon finally sliding into our booth, we found the seats hadn't been brushed off - and it was very crumb-y (pun intended) - we ended up using our napkins and then grabbing new sets from a nearby table. We also learned the Coke was FLAT and bitter - not great. However our server, Calvin, during that typical greeting and small talk actually invited us to share our concerns, asking us not to hold back and as a result went above and beyond to turn our experience around. An additional visit from Manager Josh followed, apologizing and genuinely seemed to want the the feedback as a tool for improvement and coaching for some new staff. From that point, everything was great! From getting replacement drinks, to sampling the pulled pork and brisket to tender ribs, and the good sized Cajun shrimp appetizer, the team truly redeemed the evening, and the apple cobbler (it's got a pastry top!) and cinnamon sugar donuts was a great close to the meal. Calvin and Josh gave a masterclass in how to turn a meh start into a memorable meal. We're looking forward to going back - next time with a booth request upfront!

The food was outstanding, and the decor and environment was really nice as well. But the most outstanding part was the staff, particularly our server, Omar. My husband and I were up from Tucson for a sporting event I was competing in, and came here for my celebratory dinner. Omar was incredibly friendly, attentive, and just had a wonderful personality. I highly recommend requesting his section (although all the staff was very nice!). We will definitely be back when we're in town again!

Bobby Qs is a great place for higher quality BBQ experience. You can get standard BBQ items, Salads, Burgers, sandwiches and Steaks. There's something for everyone here and the food is great. Also the service from DJ was top notch. He was very attentive and helpful for our dinner experience. Just a tip, if you have a group of 4-6, order the Hog Heaven. More than enough food for the group and keeping it easy for everyone. Great place for BBQ!

We took my parents and my little sister to try Bobby Q since we've always enjoyed the food. The food was great as always but service provided by Calvin was tremendous! He gave us very good advice between beer fries vs mashed potatoes and was so kind and patient with my indecisive little sister who had no clue what to order. He super knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive to our needs through our meal. My dad said he will definitely come back again to try more of the menu! 10/10 visit :)

Closer to a 4.5 because Crystal was awesome and there are many things to like about Bobby Q's. The place looks great and has a fun, energetic (but welcoming) vibe - like a bbq place should have. Sat at the bar to avoid any wait and it was a great choice because Crystal took excellent care of us. Ordered the "Whole Hog" and got to try different meats and sides. The mashed potatoes with peppered gravy were a hit, and the brisket was tender. Also enjoyed the pulled chicken and beef ribs. Overall good food - definitely get the mash! Also ordered drinks and those were terrific! Smoked old fashioned and Blood Orange Margarita - both excellent. The Blackberry Smash was delicious, too.

Came here for dinner and was glad we had reservations. There were quite a few people waiting for tables, and there is not a lot of space to wait. This place has a great atmosphere--very rustic, with lots of reclaimed wood and exposed brick. If you take a walk around the bar, you can see how big this place is. One big complaint we had was the drink menu. It's had nice colorful pictures of each cocktail, but absolutely no description of the cocktails. That would be great if we were only in an Instagram world, but we actually like to choose our cocktails by what's in them, and more importantly what's NOT in them. I love mezcal, and hubby hates it. Hubby loves whiskey, and I hate it. But there was no way to know the ingredients. We asked the server if there was a menu that listed what was in each drink. She said no and I asked how are we supposed to know what's in the drink? She said she knows them all and we would have to ask her. She really did know them all, but we only asked for a couple because we didn't want her standing there giving us the rundown of 20 cocktails. I'm not sure why they would do it this way, but it seems like a really bad thing. I really love the cornbread and butter that every table gets. So happy to see our server bring us the basket! Hubby got the brisket salad and I got to pecanha steak with chimichurri, mashed potatoes and pecan coleslaw. I loved every single thing about my meal. The chimichurri on the pecanha steak was delicious! On the other hand, hubby said that his brisket did not have much flavor and that it was just okay. Of course at the end of the meal we got a little bag of the signature cinnamon sugar donuts! That's always a treat! We had a nice time and I really liked my dinner, but they seriously need to think about a different cocktail menu.

Well first i would like to say it has been hard to find some good BBQ out here in AZ. Considering im from NC amd BBQ is our thing i will say that this place has the flavors down back. I got the tripple meat combo. St luis style and beef ribs and the sausage. The st luis style had great tender meat on it and a good amount. The beef had flavor but a little meat on them and the sausage was delicious. I really enjoyed the service my server Chante was excellent very attentive and fast as well. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place as well. Its deffintely a must eat place when you are in the area. I recommend the brisket and the st luis style ribs and the beans were great as well. read more

Great tasting BBQ, I had the favorite three, all were great a tad bit (just a tad bit dry like littaray 2% dry) dry but awesome! Had the 2 meat combo - sausage and brisket, with beans and Mac and cheese. The sausage was good, not very spicy, but tasty and I would order it again. The brisket was very tender and good. I tried their spicy sauce but it wasn't. The beans were in a vinegar based sauce, and I didn't like them. So here is the best part: the Mac and cheese was fantastic, and the service was great. I am a tough Barbecue critic. My fav is Little Miss BBQ, but service and location make this a more likely option. Melissa had the fried Chicken, Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. The chicken was good, and the breaking was very flavorful. Potatoes were thick, not bad, just ok. They give you mini cinnamon doughnuts to go when you leave, which is a nice touch. I give the service and Mac and cheese 6 stars. We'll be back, to try other stuff, and more Mac and cheese. read more

Amazing !! I swear this is the best bbq you can get in az! I compare it close to Lucille's bbq in Tempe.. but I think Bobby Qs beats it with the atmosphere, experience, food/drinks, and donuts! How cool that when you go in the hostesses are making fresh donuts and then you get a bag to go at the end of your meal!? Our server (Octavia) was amazing. She did a great job of taking care of us. The food...not my favorite. The first rule of BBQ is if you don't smell smoke, don't eat there. I broke my rule because I heard it was good. I had the burger with added pulled pork. The patty was a really good size and cooked to order but the pulled pork lacked flavor. My wife had a salad with added chicken. For her, the chicken looked like it was out of a can and lacked depth of flavor. If you enjoy this place great. I wish El Paso BBQ company was still here. Real smoke. You can't fake it. You can't use liquid smoke or any other cheats. This place has real smoke induce flavors that are complex and deep. I smoke sausage often yet never considered slicing it during the cooking process. More smoke is almost always good. Everything was tasty, the ribs, the sausage, the brisket. The side of ranch beans was great as well. The grilled vegetables seemingly were cooked somewhere else as they had zero smoke or grill taste to them. Top all this off with buttered cornbread and a few Old Fashioned drinks made with smoked maple syrup instead of simple syrup, I had an excellent time. I usually don't take leftovers when traveling but I enjoyed this meal for lunch and dinner the next day as well. :) read more

The price was just right. The steak was comparable to Houston's in Scottsdale but the price was better! The shrimp was fantastic and the service was excellent. "This is not how we do business" that is what I was told by not 1 but 2 managers. Really I had a very minor issue, but after all, Taylor came to our table to greet us and told us to tell him if we needed anything. They gave me respect, a very generous solution, and a good conversation. In the hospitality world that is how you "do business" Bartender shakes hand, tells you about the menu-check. Great St. Louis ribs-check Great cornbread- check. Great atmosphere- check. Great baked beans- check. Bag of mini doughnuts on the way out!!! I'll be back for the pecan cole slaw soon!!! read more

Went to lunch from work and thought the restaurant and staff were great! Pulled BBQ chicken sandwich was great and so was the coleslaw. My friends got the slider and salad combos, and they were very large portions! We also got baked potato soup, and it was delicious as well. Cornbread that they give you at the beginning was warm and yummy! Tiny doughnuts at the end were great! Will definitely go back! The building inside is beautiful and nice patio area read more

The food here is to die for! Seriously, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and this is coming from a guy born and raised in Missouri where we have the best BBQ anywhere. That is, until I found this place. The have the best cornbread I've ever eaten! Their BBQ is also amazing! And to top off a great meal, you get delicious fresh made donuts. Mmmmm. My family and I have recently moved to Mesa from NY and since we've been here, we have not been impressed with the food or service ANYWHERE. Until tonight!! From the second we walked in to the second we walked out, we were extremely pleased. From the ambience, to the service, and the food, all on point! We started with the Q Rolls. WOW! Possibly one of the beat app's I have ever had. Plus I have been to many places for ribs but these St. Louis ribs were so tender and juicy. We just hope to find more places like this around the valley but are not holding our breath. If you are looking to go to another chain restaurant nearby, don't waste your money. Texas Roadhouse, Chilis, and Red Robin (Nearby restaurants) don't even compare. We WILL be back. Ohh and the donuts.. OMG!!! read more

One thing I can say is that when we saw the prices we thought it would be a rip off, next thing you know the food comes out, then we take a bite, and oh my gosh, the food was amazing, our server Haley was amazing. She made sure our drinks were replaced with new ones and the way she gave the introduction to how the food was prepped and made was on point she had answers to all of our questions. The one thing that was also amazing was the complimentary donuts at the end that get fried in peanut oil was so good. The wait was worth it, I would definitely come back again read more

What an amazing experience! Our waitress Tara was in training but it didn't show! ** | Complete Disappointment - Awful Service and Dirty Tables** I rarely take the time to write negative reviews, but our recent experience here was so incredibly frustrating that I felt compelled to share. We came in hoping for a good meal, but from the moment we were seated until the moment we left, it was a disaster from start to finish. First and foremost, the level of cleanliness in the dining room was completely unacceptable. When we were sat, the table was a total mess. It was incredibly sticky to the touch, visibly damaged, and clearly hadn't been wiped down because it was still covered in crumbs and debris from the previous guests. It's basic restaurant standard to properly sanitize a table between seatings, but that clearly didn't happen here. The service only made a bad situation worse. Our server was completely checked out, highly inattentive, and acted like taking our order was a massive inconvenience. We spent most of our night trying to wave someone down just to get basic refills and updates. To add insult to injury, the complete lack of urgency throughout the entire meal was baffling. We watched other tables around us--who arrived well after we did--get greeted, served, and cleared while we sat staring at a dirty table waiting an eternity just for our drinks to arrive. When the food finally did come out, nobody community bothered to check if we needed anything else, leaving us without silverware or napkins to even clean up the mess that was already left on the table. When we finally asked to speak to management about the lack of service and the dirty condition of our table, the manager on duty was absolutely no help whatsoever. Instead of apologizing, taking responsibility, or trying to make things right, they were completely dismissive and acted like our complaints were a burden. It is incredibly frustrating to deal with leadership that simply does not care about customer satisfaction. What bothers me the most is the total lack of accountability from the entire team. A restaurant can have an off night, but when the server is dismissive and the management is actively hostile to constructive feedback, it shows a deep-rooted issue with how this establishment is run. If the people in charge don't care about basic hygiene or customer courtesy, it trickles down to everyone else, and it absolutely showed during our visit. This wasn't just a sub-par dining experience; it was a masterclass in how to alienate customers. Between the terrible service, the unhelpful management, and the dirty environment, it was an all-around horrible experience. We will definitely not be returning, and I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you want decent service and a clean place to eat. read more

We had a great experience this week at Bobby Q! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and quickly shown to our table. Along the way, we caught a glimpse of mini donuts being made, and let's just say they had our attention. More on those later\! Carrie was our server, and she was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. Things got off to a great start with the complimentary cornbread. It was warm, moist, and the perfect way to kick off a barbecue feast. I ordered the brisket sandwich with mac and cheese. The brisket had a wonderful smoky flavor and was cooked well. It was just a little drier than I personally prefer, but I'd happily order it again because the flavor was excellent. The mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and a great pairing. My husband started with the loaded potato soup, which he thoroughly enjoyed. For his entrée, he ordered the Tomatillo Brisket Mac & Cheese. Their homemade mac and cheese was topped with smoked brisket, tomatillo sauce, chives, and sour cream. It was creamy, comforting, and the tomatillo added a fresh, slightly tangy twist that kept the dish from feeling too heavy. II was an appetizer but more than enough to be eaten for the meal. Our daughter ordered the pulled chicken with potato salad. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and the potato salad was a delicious classic side that complemented it perfectly. Now, about those mini donuts...they were absolutely worth saving room for! Fresh, warm, and coated in cinnamon sugar, they were the perfect sweet ending to an already wonderful meal. I had high expectations for Bobby Q's in Mesa, especially since I wanted to treat my parents, who were visiting from out of town, to a nice meal. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I had hoped for and left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. One of the biggest issues was the reservation process, which seemed completely pointless. We made a 5:45 PM reservation, expecting to be seated promptly. Instead, we were left waiting until 6:40 PM--nearly an hour later. If reservations do not guarantee a table at the scheduled time, what is the point of making one? Walk-ins were being seated at a similar pace, making it clear that reservations are not prioritized. When we were finally seated, our party of five was placed at a table meant for four, and we were simply told to "pull up a chair." This lack of proper accommodation was frustrating, especially given that the restaurant had advance notice of our party size. It felt unprofessional and unprepared. The food, unfortunately, did not redeem the experience. The Caesar salad tasted as if it was made with straight mayonnaise, rather than a proper dressing. The rib tips were 50% fat, making them chewy, greasy, and nearly inedible. For the amount spent, I expected fresh, high-quality barbecue, not what felt like leftover trimmings and store-bought sides. I wanted this to be a special meal for my parents, but instead, it was a letdown. Tonight was simply not good at all and a complete waste. While the ambiance was nice, it does not make up for the poor service, lack of organization, and subpar food quality. I will not be coming back to chance it again. Let me start this review by saying that I NEVER take the time to write reviews. I even re-downloaded the Yelp app just to write this review. I live across the freeway from this place and ever since it went up, I can often smell it when I go outside. I love barbeque with a passion but hadn't tried this place until tonight. This is, hands down, the GREATEST barbeque I have literally ever tasted. I got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of fries for just under $13, and it even came with some cornbread. I placed the order to go, drove across the street after placing the order, and it was already ready to pick up! Now for the food. The fries? Literally the BEST fries I've ever had. These thin, season salted fries were absolutely incredible, and came in a respectably sized portion. There were 2 things of cornbread included that I wasn't expecting when I picked up the order, so that was a bonus- fluffy and warm. Now for the sandwich. This sandwich was decently sized, smothered in house barbeque sauce, and came with 2 extra, rather large sides of hot and mild sauce. My god.. this sauce was insanely good. The meat was very tender and not fatty at all, I added more of the hot barbeque sauce to it and literally couldn't stop eating it. This is our first time here. We didn't get the greatest first impression. The hostess said hello and asked how many. It was 3 adults and my 2 year old son. We were not offered a high chair during the whole we were there. He sat on my lap for part of the time a little inconvenient when trying to eat. Our server made good suggestions which was nice for our first time. However we saw a lot of staff walk back and forth and we sat along the ilse so you couldn't have missed us. Our food was delivered and we didn't have silverware or napkins. The cornbread had good flavor though. I told the server at the beginning of the meal it was my birthday celebration. So she offered a dessert for after the meal. We didn't get any refills until toward the end of the meal when I asked for it. There were so many plates on our table that were empty that I had to ask to be cleared. The meal itself wasnt bad, it had good flavor but the sides could've been bigger. After dinner my dessert was delivered which was nice, thank you. I got the chocolate cake but we had no silverware again. It had ice cream in the cake which melted. Wow!!! This place is hands down the best BBQ restaurant I have been to and I have been to a lot! Went here with my husband and 2 sons and boy was the food and service amazing!!! My husband and I shared the Hog Heaven. We chose the beef ribs, St. Louis ribs, pulled chicken, and beef brisket for our meats and the roasted corn, shoestring fries and mac and cheese for our sides. It was ALL DELICIOUS! Everything was so perfectly smoked and tender. The sides were equally as great! My oldest son ordered the burger and he loved it. My youngest son ordered the jumbo shrimp and he love it as well. I would recommend making reservations (they take reservations of any party size) because this place gets busy. My husband and I were in last night for dinner and were blown away. First off the place has a great atmosphere and the remodeling done to the restaurant that was there before paid off. There a lot of good seating options, but we choose to sit at the bar. The bartender Drew really made the night for us. He was quick with unique drink suggestions that weren't on their cocktail menu (which had plenty of good options too), he was very friendly without ever being too much and checked back at the right times. His service is why we will hands down come back. Our food came out fast and everything was delicious. I don't normally go for chicken at a BBQ joint but the smoasted chicken was amazing. I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews and pictures, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. I ordered a 1/2 pound of brisket and 1/2 pound of pulled pork. The pulled pork had a delightful smoky flavor and remained moist, without overpowering the palate. However, I was disappointed with the brisket. It lacked any smoke flavor and had no bark, resembling more of a pot roast than traditional barbecue. The meat easily fell apart, whereas I expected it to have a nice crust with visible spices. It felt like the restaurant only used the smoker for show, rather than producing genuine barbecue. The server was friendly, but failed to refill our drinks throughout the meal. We recently visited Bobby-Q in Mesa to celebrate a special occasion for our youngest daughter. Having been there before and not totally blown away, we decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired. Our server struggled with basic service, like keeping drinks refilled, and when the food finally arrived after quite a wait, our daughter's order was completely wrong. By the time they corrected it, the rest of us had already finished our meals. Though the staff and manager apologized and offered a free dessert, it wasn't about the money--it was about the experience we were hoping to have. I'm a great granny and when my adorable 6 y/o GGD stayed a couple of days with me, I was determined we would not be eating at McDs. We pulled into Bobby Q and we were not disappointed. Our server was terrific. I mentioned I'd never been there before so when I waffled over potato salad and pecan cole slaw she graciously brought me a bit of both. A rather big bit, I must say, and both sides were delicious. Cutie Pie loved the toothpick fries and her ribs. We both had enough leftover to take home. If you are a plant person, you must go just for the plants; they are gorgeous. They've created their own microclimate and the scents will take you to a moss-covered forest in Marin County. This is a horrible place and if you are from Globe, Miami or any where like this just know that all the small time workers from there were let go during this horrible crisis. Personally I don't want to support somewhere that I know for a fact how the owner is. If you are smart you will not go to any Bobby q location. You will not support a person that thanks the employees that started from the beginning that helped him like shit. And if you were a customer that went there those wonderful young men and women that were good to you and that you loved that are no longer there remember how good they were to you and that they went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and now they are gone. First time to this Mesa location and loved that reservations can now be made on Yelp. 5/5 service on a busy Saturday night and even though we were seated about 1.5 hours before closing time, the food was still delicious and not bottom of the barrel, slim pickings you get at some BBQ places near closing time. Recommend: -Brisket rolls -3 meat combo so you can try a mix of meats. On this visit, we got the baby back ribs, sausage, and brisket. The ribs were the best that I've ever had! This place has only been open 9 months but everything runs like it has been here for years! Our server Dimitri was on target the whole time...friendly, attentive, and personable. We met the manager and she was also very friendly and personable. The food was delicious. I had the wedge salad and it was good (hard to ruin a wedge salad). My mom had baby backs (I admit i "borrowed" a bone and it was delicious). She had the potato salad and roasted corn with it. She said it was the best corn she had ever had and she is almost 80 years old! Hubby had pulled pork and gave it a glowing review. Overall great food and excellent service. Bobby Qs is the only place near me that I will eat BBQ. I have said it before that I'm not a BBQ person, but they have the best smoked ribs. Everything is smoked in house, so the smell is Divine when walking by. The spicy BBQ and Carolina BBQ are alternate choices to the original BBQ flavor. I recommend trying all, as they are all tasty. The Mac and cheese was once voted best in state, which I'm not sure if they have won any awards as of late, but I remember the original bobby Qs had better tasting Mac and cheese. Had the BEST experience here and I absolutely have to shout out our server, Melanie! From the moment we sat down, she was fun, attentive, and made the whole night feel special. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does -- her energy totally elevated our dinner. The food was incredible. The salmon was a very very small filet (it was ordered of the regular dinner menu). We feel cheated. We will never go back. What type of place cuts their pork bones in half and calls it 1/2 rack. Bait and switch. I should have taken a picture, but we were so shocked.
