I want to start by saying that I rarely call something the "Best" I've ever had. Because one day a $2.00 cheeseburger may be what you're craving! And the next you want a $40.00 Wagyu Beef, black truffle cheeseburger. Both hit the spot, and taste great, but don't really compare. This time however, I feel I can say without reservation, that the Sweet Caroline is the "BEST" Chicken sandwich of "Any" kind I've ever had! The fried chicken alone is among the best I've ever had! I am a details guy, and the details of this sandwich are second to none! Everything plays nice with everything else, not one thing stands out over another (other than maybe the mustard sauce, and that's a good thing!)! I was so excited when I heard Bo & Vine was coming to Eugene. My son and I eat at the Salem location every chance we get, the food is so good! Today I was able to make it down to the Eugene location for some takeout during this COVID19 pandemic. I am very grateful to have local businesses able to be open during this time. That being said, it was my first time ordering online and not at the register inside the establishment. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich, spuddy buddy burger and the bacon ranch pile. My son ate the chicken pesto sandwich and said "It was very wet but good". I had the spuddy buddy burger, it was good, a little dry but the only condiment on it was sour cream. I love burgers that are too big for your mouth, and this hit the ticket spot on! Now the pile....A pile is a pile of fries with toppings. A sort of poutine (without the mess of the gravy) one might say. When ordering this pile, I was given the option for additional sauces. I wanted a side of the blue cheese sauce, so I checked the box. What I did not know until getting home is that there is no side of blue cheese sauce. The sauce was slathered all over the fries. Oh this sauce...this sauce is thick, so thick and goopy. It was the consistency of mayo with a hint of blue cheese flavor. A little fact about me, I hate mayo. The texture is wrong, I just can't. The fries are now inedible, for me. Maybe you would like it, but this isnt your review. I am not sure if I didn't thoroughly read the online ordering info or if it really was so vague. But, it would have been helpful to know the additional sauce would not be on the side. To the trash with the pile! But be aware, to not make this online ordering mistake too. My favorite burger spot in Eugene, full stop. The food is great, but what sets it apart for me is the service. The staff is always friendly, accommodating, and ready to help. The burgers are really good - there are a lot of options to choose from, including some pretty creative options, and they also have chicken sandwiches and salads if that's more your style. Their sides are out of this world - the "tots" are massive and pack a lot of flavor and crunch to them. I made my 2nd visit to B&V tonight, so I feel a review is in order. First the good- and the good is great! My wife had the blue cheese salad and she said it was so perfect for her tastes, they should name it after her! I had the Pitmaster burger...to call it a big burger is like saying Shaq is an average size fellow. It was HUGE. I ate half and my teenage son finished it up- we were BOTH full! Of course we also shared the MASSIVE order of fries (and it was the regular - not the "share" size! Hand cut fries are one of my favorite things- and theirs are very good! But that leads to my one complaint. I ordered take out, so I didn't get to open the fries until I got home a few minutes later. If I had eaten at the restaurant, I seriously doubt they would have given me the order they did, because at least 1/3 of the fries were less than 1" and burnt so bad you couldn't even bite into them. It was like they cleaned out the bottom of the fryer and dumped them into my order. And while it wasn't a drive-through, I felt a bit like Joe Pesci in Lethal Weapon- you know the scene I mean lol... With that being said, I will return and gladly try many other items on their menu. read more

Just ordered lunch through GrubHub. Food nearly inedible. Bun fell apart when I tried to pick up and eat the sandwich: mealy and stale; nasty, nasty mouthfeel-that bun. Had to repurpose the entire sandwich with my own bread (not easy to do when avocado slices and melted cheese are involved). Sweet potato fries soggy and limp (I do detest a limp, soggy fry), and some were chewy (not the good kind of chewy) and all were unsalvageable. Can not recommend. AT ALL. What a disappointment. I had the Pitmaster and it was excellent. The combination of the ham and the burger was fantastic. My wife ordered the original bow and vine, burger and loved it. We did order the. parmesan garlic fry pile. Unfortunately, it comes with a thick layer of mustard, aïoli cheese on it, which is not what the menu said. I did not eat the fries, as it was just a mustard bomb. I would definitely go back, just not order the fry pile. also, Jones soda is not very good. I spent most of my life living in Salem. There is an amazing BBQ spot there called Adam's Rib that was a staple of mine for many years. I heard that Bo and Vine had opened up and was owned by the same family so I knew it had to be great. A little over 3 years later I am finally getting around to trying it. Because of Covid they are currently take out only. I completed an online order and all I can say is the system they are using is VERY thorough. So many options to add or customize your food. I was worried with all the options something would be wrong but nope....perfect. I did a custom burger with three sauces and the jalapeño cilantro slaw. It was the perfect spice level and threw this burger over the top flavor wise. My husband had the sweet Caroline chicken sandwich (pictured) and as you can see it is the size of a toddler....I may be exaggerating a little but seriously, it was huge! He said it was delicious and since he didn't offer to share I can only take his selfish word. We also got an order of the maple bourbon bacon fries. The sauces...lord help me! There are soooo many and I went a little crazy but holy cow!!!! I will whole heartedly say this is a delicious spot that any burger fan would hands down love. The only complaint I have was that my order took 15 min longer than the time they gave me for pickup but they were obviously slammed and good things come to those who wait. Excellent customer service by the woman taking care of everything up front single-handedly. The team in the back cooking, which you get a fun glimpse at while ordering take away and waiting, were all working hard to produce many orders simultaneously. The gluten-free (GF) burger was delicious. All burgers can be made GF which is wonderful! The GF buns have no soy either, even better. Bo & Vine toasts the buns on each burger, yum! What's a burger without a toasted bun? The January burger special is like a French dip sandwich with au jus, melted cheese and perfectly grilled onions. Delicious! The Bo & Vine burger was great too. The "normal" buns containing gluten were really huge! The regular size fry is perfect for sharing for 2-4 people depending upon your level of hunger. Best thing about the fries, no batter, hand-cut in the restaurant so also GF which is appreciated. The various sauces that a customer gets to select to their liking were good too, especially the blue cheese and the spicy chipotle aioli. Their milkshakes are made like old-fashioned shakes. Super tasty! And they stayed cold all the way home since everything in our community is takeaway only due to Covid restrictions and safety protocols currently. Definitely the best burger in town. I had the Willamette and it might honestly even be the best burger I've ever had. The patty was a perfect medium rare per my request, the flavors blended amazingly together, the bacon was thick and obviously cooked to order (or at least seemed to be - definitely not soggy, diner-style bacon) and the mushrooms I added on top were sauteed perfectly. I'm stuffed but my mouth is still watering thinking about that damn burger. The staff was super friendly, too, even with all the pressure that comes along with working at busy restaurant operating at half-capacity with COVID precautions. Those two girls up front rocked it. I honestly just wanted Mexican food for dinner tonight, but my boyfriend and I decided to try this place. I usually choose burgers or American style food last in dinner options 9/10 times because I get so tired of how often you end up with something plain and generic, but this was a game changer. Any time before or after their rush, and it's all good! Fresh burgers and fries to order, and when I want to really splurge I get a shake too! So it's a Friday in August. I've had a long week of pretending to be busy at work. The temperature outside is about 20 degrees too high for somebody with this much Northern European DNA. Heating up the stove and sweating enough to fill up a kiddie pool sounds about as fun as licking a cheese grater against the grain and then biting a lemon. Plus I ate my cheerios this morning, so the ticker should be able to handle a little grease-to-go. What to get, though? True to my indecisive millenial self, I pull up Yelp and spend way too long searching for something that looks juuuuust right. A whole bunch of no's and a few maybe's later, Bo & Vine pops up. A burger sounds like a fitting send-off to the "work" week, and there plenty of pictures of things that look like burgers, so I'm sold. A few moments later my online order is submitted, and they tell me my dinner is 30 minutes away. Fast forward 25 minutes, after a quick drive downtown and a surprisingly successful parallel parking job, I'm walking through their door (and yes, those of you with a PHD in maths like Josh are correct, I'm 5 minutes early). The person working the counter lets me know it's going to be a bit longer, and takes down my phone number so they can give me a call when the order is ready. No big deal - my dinner date with whatever is new on Netflix is just going to have to wait a bit longer. Another 25 minutes go by, and at this point my stomach is howling louder than the song Spotify shuffled onto. The song stops, the phone rings, and it's go time. The staff is nice and apologetic about the wait, offering a free sauce and a $5 gift card. All in all it's no big deal - especially considering $5 for an extra 20 minutes equates to more $ per hour than twice that of the federal minimum wage (hooray 'Merica). Normally, with an empty stomach and hot fries in the car, I'll show about as much restraint as Trump on a Twitter tirade at 2 AM or Jeffrey Epstein, who didn't kill himself, at a junior prom. I'm going to eat ~96.4% of the fries during the drive home (okay, that still might be more restraint than Donald or Jeffrey, but you get the picture). The good news? There were so many fries in the box that it dropped that number to something like 75%. The bad news? These fries were just plain sad. I haven't been this disappointed since... well, not that long ago considering the state of just about everything in 2020. These fries fit right in with the times. Ordered extra crispy, you'd get just as much crunch biting into a forkful of mashed potatoes. I'd understand if I had actual will power and waited until I got home - chalk it up to steaming in the takeout box. I opened that box immediately, though. And these fries limped like they were trying to get out of gym class. If these fries were men, they'd need a little blue pill in order to have a good time. It was some sad sad starch. But hey, maybe the burger will save the day. Narrator: It didn't save the day. The best thing about the burger was the tomatoes. If you're wondering about the rest of the burger, the fact that tomatoes were the highlight is not a good sign. Three fresh slices, not too thin, not too thick. No complaints there. The rest of it? The bun felt stale. The burger was dry enough that it'd be a fire hazard if you left one in the woods this time of year. There was a single lonely piece of lettuce that brought nothing to the party. The fifty cent addition of fried onions was so non-existent they could probably work in congress. All in all, I'll throw in an extra star for the staff being nice. Will I go back? Eh. If a pet dies, or a relationship ends, or just more 2020 happens, at least I'll know where to go to get $5 off on feeling sad. read more
