Dave's is one of those spots I usually only go to after being out for the night. They are one of the few places open late in Eugene and is super close to the popular college bars. I can't say how good the food is on a typical day but I do know that their hot tenders are so very scrumptious after consuming 4 shots of tequila and a few amfs. A group of friends and I came the other week around 1:30am and it was still extremely busy. This night we thought it would be best to order an entire platter of tenders and fries because we would save a few dollars and it was definitely one of our better ideas. Wow....this place rocks. We've been hearing about Dave's Hot Chicken for a while now. Tonight, we decided to trek into town to try them out. I can say, We are 100% not disappointed. The chicken is cooked hot ( like, not spicy, just cooked hot) and the taste is to die for. I got two sliders (which are a very good size for being sliders) with hot and extra hot seasoning. I gotta stress, spicy foods to me taste mild(ish) at best, so be forewarned, it's possible the hot and extra hot are out of some peoples taste pallets). The Fries are delicious. My wife really enjoys her mild slider and tender (she could only eat half her meal). The music they were playing was good music. The decor is kind of like modern graffiti style. Well, I've been hearing all this noise about Dave's Hot Chicken being the Chik-fil-a killer... I just had to try it myself. Ok... it's good, but comparing it to Chik-fil-a isn't really a good way to think of Dave's. This is a unique product that is quite good. I took the family (5 of us) and the total bill was $80 so not too bad. I had the sliders and as spicy stuff can really go wrong with me... I ordered the mild and the medium spice levels. Not too hot but not boring either. I liked the fries, as crinkle cut fries go they were nicely crunchy and seasoned without being obnoxious. From the time we ordered to the time our food arrived was about 10 minutes. The folks taking orders and getting the food out to customers were all pleasant and friendly. The restaurant itself is colorful and somewhat noisy but not so noisy we couldn't have pleasant conversation at our table. A group of 5 was tight at their tables so more than 5 would probably need to take two tables. I made a special trip to try Dave's Hot Chicken tonight. I probably won't make a special trip again, but if I'm in Eugene and feel like a tasty, reasonably priced, chicken forward dinner I'd go again. Definitely worth a try... It all starts out on a rainy day where my gf and I both were too tired from work to want to cook today so we decided to look around for a place we haven't eaten at yet. We stumbled on Eugene having a Dave's Hot Chicken. I am sure parking on a non-rainy day would be problematic but that isn't something to be held against Dave's Hot Chicken. We entered and this place was immaculately clean and the staff were quite engaging welcoming us right off the bat. The aroma had both our mouths watering instantly too. The menu is rather simple; my gf ordered a mild slider with fries and I ordered a Hot & and Extra Hot slider with fries. I in retrospect with I would have ordered the Reaper for both my sliders. I barely had any warmth in my lips from the Extra Hot albeit it was super juicy and quite flavorful. As soon as we were done eating I circulated photos to my friends and told them that Dave's Hot Chicken is most certainly a place to check out. We will definitely be back. I was also informed that there will be a Springfield location by Decemeber of 2024. I am sure parking will be easier to manage at the Springfield location. I've seen the videos of people reacting to Dave's Hot Chicken on YT and their reactions are spot on, this is a really good chicken sandwich worthy of repeat trips to Dave's Hot Chicken. read more

The restaurant really needs to warn customers about the ongoing construction. I ended up having to walk two blocks in the rain carrying two massive bags of food. I had Dave's Combo #3 which is a tender and a slider with a side. I substituted mac and cheese for the fries. Eileen helped me at the counter and was super nice and helpful. Very friendly. I love the chicken. It was cooked just right and the pickles and white bread complimented the meal nicely. This place had a steady crowd while I ate there so word is getting around. This review is solely based on their mac and cheese and fries since that is the only thing I can have as a vegetarian. The mac and cheese is VERY good. The fries are ok. My husband said the chicken was just fine. He's a tough critic though. I wish they had a vegetarian version of their chicken so I can participate in their fun heat scale. I'm always curious about my heat tolerance and it's something I like to test often. I like the vibe of Dave's with all the graffiti and even the rubber chickens they store in a 'break for emergencies' box. I don't know if this will be a location that I will frequent often due to its location right next to the school and their not really being much on the menu for me to choose from. The food was fantastic. I ordered 2 sliders, fries, and Mac and cheese. I chose "hot" for the heat level on the sandwich which was hot and also delicious. The sandwiches reminded me of Hatty B's hot chicken in Nashville. The Mac isn't "good", but it helped cool your mouth from the hot chicken so it was perfect. I wouldn't crave the Mac, but I'd also order it every time I got the hot chicken. We ordered a couple extra packets of Dave's sauce. It was similarly soothing, and it was also very flavorful. Nice juicy and crispy chicken tenders. Pretty spendy at almost $5 per, but I guess we live in a spendier world now. Think a small/medium chicken breast, not a chicken finger. Even the Medium packs some spice, so start there and push your comfort zone from there. They make you sign a waiver to order the Reaper. It's a dry heat that builds to a pretty good level! (YMMV) I have no idea why they give you a slice of white bread with every tender. Just seems weird. Only 2 reasons I can think of, 1) so you can make the juvenile joke "I got bread at Dave's Chicken" or 2) some kind of Nashville tradition maybe? While totally unnecessary IMHO, it's probably a traditional thing, this gets a pass. My biggest complaint... WTF is with the styrofoam to-go boxes?? Why would anyone still use these over something biodegradable?? I wish the industry would put an end to them altogether! One last thing is if you go for the crinkle cut fries, skip the cheesysauce, it's kinda messy but mainly not very good, and not worth the upcharge. [Edit: Originally gave 3 stars.
