It would be great to have a go-to Mexican spot in the neighborhood but unfortunately blanco won't be it for us. Came here early on a Saturday night. The patio is a nice, chill atmosphere. We were seated by the hostess after several minutes of waiting and then it took about 10-15 minutes before we saw any kind of server (we ultimately asked if we were supposed to order at the bar because after that long, we figured it was possible). Our waitress was very friendly and helpful but must have been stretched thin based on how long it took to get her attention. We ordered guacamole (generous portion but pretty bland), margaritas (fine). Entrees we're about $20 each and werent bad but seemed overpriced. I got the carne asada tacos which came with a pretty tasty rice/corn side and my partner got grilled chicken fajitas (beautiful presentation but just "ok" flavor). The bill came to $100 for a fairly forgettable meal. Stopped by this place for a quick bite. We ordered guacamole and pork Chile verde enchiladas, as well as the mezcal old fashioned and margarita. Honestly I was not impressed because the food was WAY too salty. The tortilla chips were slathered in salt and the guacamole was so salty it drowned out the other flavors. The enchiladas were also salty but more bearable than the guacamole was. I think the authentic flavor was there but it was drowned out by the restaurant overdoing it on the salt. Drinks were good, I've had issues in the past with the margarita being too watered down but today's margarita was great (although my SO complained that the lime was not in wedge form). We took a quick trip to Denver during the weekend. Found this place on Yelp, and decided to give it a try. I am glad we did! The vibe of the place is pretty cool, the staff is friendly, the food was delicious and the decor is stunning. We had the carne asada, short rib and shrimp tacos. The were all full of flavor. You can't go wrong with any of them. Each taco plate came with two tacos, a side of rice and black or charro beans. I know the main dish is the tacos. But wait until you try the rice.... Oh my goodness. My taste buds were not ready. I didn't know rice could steal the show. Lol! The charro beans were delicious. Crazy how the side dishes are as good as the main dish. To top it all off, we had their tiramisu for dessert. Do yourself a favor and leave space for dessert. You will not regret it. I am not a fan of tiramisu, so I wasn't to thrilled to try it. Finally got to check this place out after hearing such good things. The food was deceptively good! The plating is average and makes the food look mediocre but hot damn is it delicious. I ordered the shrimp tacos- to be honest the star of the plate was the rice. I don't know WHAT these people are doing to the rice but I would go just for a plate of it and nothing else. Others at the table got Carne asada tacos, shrimp fajitas, and a combo plate with enchiladas and everything was really well made and so flavorful. The cocktails are also really good- margaritas are exactly as you'd expect but they have some unique cocktails on the menu that are definitely worth checking out - highly recommend the Casa Verdita! Food took quite a while to come out but the staff was great, checked on us regularly and apologized for the delay so they must have been more backed up than normal. After following all the popular Instagram pages and Denver "knows" - I heard all the rave about Blanco so we decided to try it out. And boy were we impressed. Our first experience was calling to let the host know that we'd be running ten minutes late and after getting off the phone, my boyfriend jokingly said "what a gem!" She was so pleasant and kind, it really set our expectations right off the bat. We get there and everyone was smiling, so friendly, so welcoming, and it just felt good. Our server, Dan, was our next absolute gem. He was so full of energy, kindness, and life! He checked on us throughout our entire dining journey. The drinks were amazing! I got the smashed watermelon and my boyfriend got the frozen Paloma. Both amazing although the frozen drinks are definitely filling. We usually never get multiple entrees but since we were here for the first time, we thought we'd over order to try a few things. Everything was INCREDIBLE. I'm honestly surprised at how delicious this place is for being a tad more upscale, fusion-adjacent spot. The mexican street corn app is a must. I was so happy with my margarita (got the skinny with hibiscus) and would've ordered two more if I hadn't been with my in-laws I also got the pork Chile verde bowl which was really good and just the right amount of food (husband went for a chimichanga which was beyond massive -- weird lack of consistency in entree sizes but I suppose that's my bad haha). OoooOOOOooooOOOOh! I don't know the solution to all of life's problems, but I do know that I've never been unhappy at a Mexican restaurant. The Ladyfriend and I popped in randomly on a Tuesday night and were greeted warmly, but with an hour+ wait. They say good things come to those who wait (and in this case the good things were margs and queso) and so wait we did. We ended up cutting the wait short because we saw some available seats at the bar and snagged them mere seconds after the previously comfortable butts had vacated the area - the seats were still warm! A decent Mezcal old fashioned with some solid chips & salsa started the night and we quickly moved into skinny margs - which were amazing! Super citrusy, a little dried rose petal on top, only an appropriate amount of salt, and really quality tequila to lime juice ratio. Absolutely awesome. We also got the queso, and it was a very unexpected texture. It was not bad at all, but it felt different than a lot of queso that I've had before. It was still creamy and smooth, but also kind of light and fluffy - compare/contrast with the queso that's thick and decadent and gooey, and this one was light and airy and still gooey and delicious. We opted to not get it w/ground beef but two of the folks working at the bar highly recommended getting the ground beef next time. So, next time it is. I dove into a carne asada burrito and was pretty happy. A slightly spicy red sauce, a not-overfilled-but-also-not-lacking-ingredients filling of all the necessary burrito inclusions. Well-cooked meat, quite flavorful, really solid. Served on the side were pinto beans cooked w/bacon and while the 'tender highly recommended them I thought they were just fairly average. DIdn't get a whole lot of bacon essence in the beans, and they were a little cold. They weren't bad, just not amazing. Also on the side was a dollop of rice, as you'd expect, and while my partner loved the rice I was not a giant fan. It was kind of watery and had some flavors I don't traditionally associate with rice in a Mexican restaurant. All in all we had a good time - a nice lively atmosphere with some fun staff to talk to, we enjoyed the food and given it's fairly close we won't hesitate to find our back. read more

This place was decent but definitely needs some tuning in both the kitchen and front of house. We came in a random week day for dinner, 7 of us total. We sat outside at a high top. Place was decently full. It took us a long time to get chips and salsa, let alone first round of drinks. We ordered the jalapeno margs which were really very good. The michelada was very mediocre. And the mezcal old fashioned was good. We then ordered queso and guac which also took a long time to come out. The queso was very boring and got cold too quickly because it wasn't served in a cast iron which most other spots have figure out by now. The guac was fine but didn't seem very fresh. It had started to brown like guac does when you leave it out exposed to the air too long. It was weird. The entres were good, though a little on the salty side for some people in our group. The folks who had the salads and bowls liked them. My wife had enchiladas and thought they were pretty solid. My brother and I had the tacos which were good but we immediately identified that they inly came with two which would be too little so we both ordered a third taco. They should really just come with three tacos at that price. Also, it doesn't say anywhere on menu you can mix and match, which is a huge pet peeve of mine. Don't make it look like a person can only order a single type of taco. Thats just ridiculous. I would only order tacos if I can try different ones and my waiter had to tell me that because menu said nothing about it. However I will say all three tacos i ordered (carne, bbq pork, machaca) were very good. And the tortillas were excellent. I think I liked the carne asada the most. And the rice was awesome, kind of salty but i like that, with corn in it. Next time I'd probably go double rice no beans. The charro beans just didn't do it for me, but I'm also not a huge bean person. Overall a meal worth eating. I'll probably return again in a month or two to see if anything has improved or been adjusted at all before making my final determination. read more

I came back to Blanco Cocina and had a great time! We tried some different things this time, we had the chicken pastor tacos; its new to the menu. It was delicious and the corn tortilla tasted fresh and complimented the chicken and mango very well! We also had the rib chimichanga and it was so good. The meat was very tender and had great flavor! We finished off with some dessert and the flan was a 10/10 the perfect amount of sweetness and the fresh fruit went really well with it! Normally, I LOVE Blanco. My friends and I are regular visitors of this restaurant- no longer. I made a reservation 5 days in advance and I got there 5 minutes early and I was waiting for 30 MINUTES. Then, when I was finally seated, the server was rushing our order and quite disrespectful- we ordered 2 orders of street corn for 4 people and she rolled her eyes and made fun. AND THEN, we received our order of a "cup" of soup (it was a huge bowl) and Street corn covered in way to much mayo. Never have I ever experienced this at Blanco. We want to try this place so walked in and although offered a small table, we opted for the bar which had more space. Unfortunately we were invisible there and after waiting longer than need we left. The restaurant wasn't even busy. This is why it gets a one star. We might try it again but not sure we will. UPDATE - After our previous review the restaurant reached out to apologize so we decided to give it another try. What a difference! This place opened recently in the 9+Co district and I've been looking forward to trying it for months! Place was busy around 8pm but we were able to still grab a table with no wait on a Thursday night. The service was attentive and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the short rib enchiladas, which were filled with short rib and (real) cheddar cheese. So much flavor! Short rib chimichanga was also great with a nice crispy shell. Rice and charro beans were flavorful and the starter queso and chips was quickly devoured (pro tip: add ground beef). Drinks were wonderful, had the skinny marg and Cadillac marg, both tasty and well presented. So good we ordered several! The ambiance and decor was modern and inviting. I've been coming to Blanco for years and after my last dinner there, safe to say I won't be going back. Our service was... negligible at best. We were there for three hours waiting to get our food (not a busy night) and several times we had to get up and track down our server who was chillin at the bar talking to the bartender and couldn't have seemed less interested in serving us. My tacos were terribly overcooked and bland for 20 dollars. But by far the most upsetting piece was that there was a large pitbull on the patio that belonged to some other patrons. It lunged at me and barked as I walked by to go to the bathroom- it was terrifying and I can't imagine if a child had happened to walk by. I notified a staff member and no one did anything. Look, I'm a dog owner myself and have no issues with dogs on patios- but this seemed pretty negligent on their part after the dog showed aggressive behavior. read more

I've eaten here four times and it is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Colorado, and I've lived here 56 years! Everything is excellent here along with the service. I wish I lived closer to this one in Cheery Creek, although at least we have this one location in Colorado. I'm going to Phoenix in March and am so excited to eat at one of their locations. My husband got the machaca chimichanga smothered with red sauce and I got a carnitas and a machaca taco, again - with the spicy arbol salsa. FREAKING DELICIOUS! However, what struck us most was our server Shelby. So attentive and on point. It was like she knew what we needed before we even asked for it. Plus, great conversation (when she had a few seconds to spare) and recommendations. Shelby has multiple tables both inside and out - but when you go in, find out where her station is - you'll be very happy you did! This place has some really great food items and some that are severely lacking. The chicken fajitas are amazing, the enchiladas and sides like beans are really subpar and tasteless. The salsa, which is usually a highlight at a good Mexican restaurant, is super boring and unimpressive, kind of tastes like the Pace brand from the jar. Overall we love the ambiance of this place but the high prices and slow service make it not worth the trip. Even eating here for late lunch on a weekday when only 4 other tables are occupied is so slow you'll be lucky to get out in 90 minutes. We've eaten here many times and always regret it when the service proves to be just as slow and inattentive as the last time. Probably will not return here in the future, no matter how good the fajitas are. It seems like the management team is really struggling to get this newer restaurant in a solid groove. read more

Rickee was extremely kind, and had multiple great menu suggestions. My friend and I made a reservation for an early dinner and drinks. We arrived about 15 minutes early and were told they were clearing off some tables and would send us a text to seat us closer to our reservation time. We stepped aside and counted 13 open tables ranging from 4 tops to larger 8+ seat tables. We thought, oh... that's odd but whatever. We get about 2 minutes from our reservation time and 3 groups of 2-3 people walk in and are immediately seated.. Mind you, the hostess won't even make eye contact with me. That was the last straw. We still hadn't received a text and it took us going up to the hostess stand to be seated. And we were sat at a table that had been open the entire time.. I immediately asked to speak with a manager to give them the feedback and let him know our experience. We explained we hoped to catch a round on happy hour with our reservation and he immediately interrupted that reservations dont have access to happy hour? That doesnt make sense to me, nor is it clear anywhere on their site or social media. Anyways, he claimed the staff is all new, apologized, asked to cut everyone some slack, and they're going through a lot trying to train everyone. I get it, but if you can't train your staff properly, maybe you should actually train them and should have pushed back your opening date. He offered a round of drinks on the house, great, but the concerns don't stop there. We ordered the queso appetizer, it was phenomenal, some of the best queso I have ever ordered. Except, about half way through there was a long, blonde curly hair in it... It was neither of ours. You can see into the kitchen, makes you feel as if you're a part of the experience. Until two of the kitchen members begin to argue and cause a scene. Quite the entertainment and experience but I'm not sure if I appreciate that with dinner. To conclude, the food was actually great. The chicken bowl was flavorful and tender. I would come back for that and the queso. But we were there for almost two hours and our drinks were even rushed but we constantly saw other tables around waiting for refills or service.
