I haven't been back here for ages! I can report that their coffee is still fantastic! Went here with my family and tried their bird of paradise (guava foam matcha) and hojicha caramel latte and they were delicious. The Guava foam matcha was sooo delicious, I'm definitely getting this next time I come back again. The hojicha caught my eye when I saw it. I love making hojicha tea so getting this hojicha caramel latte hot is . Its a very nice light blend. Pair this with sitting in front with their spectacular patio and you'll have a great time. Another item on the menu that caught my eye was the matcha sua dua, so a vietnamese matcha coffee. Very interesting! As always with this area, I hate parking around here. There is a small lot if you can find parking. If not good luck finding some street parking nearby. Their space inside is spacious paired with a front and side patio to enjoy the nicer weather. Overall I recommend this coffee shop!
a solid spot to hang out or get some work done (albeit not very spacious), and the service is super friendly. i got their seasonal strawberry malt latte and it was really smooth and strong. i do wish the strawberry flavor came through more, since it was heavier on the chocolatey sweetness, but it was still enjoyable. i also really liked their house-made almond milk and love that there's no upcharge for it :) the pastry selection was a bit limited when we went, and the lemon poppy loaf was slightly dry. i'd love to come back and try their food items and more coffee tho!
Came for breakfast- ordered a biscuit w/crème fresh & jam, and the plancha cheese egg omelette- both were delicious. Parking lot out back with on duty security guard. My coffee was weaker than expected and not very hot. Hubby's latte was good but tasted funny not expecting the different taste. Service was good, clean dining area but dark interior.
Coffee is always great. Love getting the Texas bourbon caramel latte and now the cold brew with the vanilla cloud. Food is delish. Tacos are a bit small if you're planning on sharing. Any pastry is great! Workers are super kind and chill. And it's usually pretty quiet and relaxed inside
Planned to come in for breakfast but we got here around 11. Got a tropical something drink that was pretty good, and a caramel latte. I'm not a coffee guy by any stretch of the imagination but I could tell this was better coffee than I've ever had before. I got the green tomato blt with an egg added and the person I was with got a biscuit sandwich. I enjoyed my food and they certainly don't skimp you on the bacon. The biscuit was a bit dry and crumbly and fell apart pretty easily, but you could tell it was homemade and tasted good. Overall not a bad time.
When I visited for Sunday morning breakfast, the atmosphere was lively and representative of a classic local coffee shop for both conversations and work. I loved the interior decor, including the designs for the menu and seating by high-top, outdoors, and standard tableside. I ordered an iced matcha latte, which I enjoyed as it struck a balance between its sweetness and the natural matcha powder the staff used. The biscuit was also tasty, mainly for the apricot jam that came with my order. I felt it could've been flakier, as the bottom was also a bit harder than I would've liked. The prices run marginally higher compared to other Montrose coffee shops I visited in the neighborhood, so note that when ordering larger sit-down or brunch dishes. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience but would credit the atmosphere more than the food and drink itself.
Blacksmith is an adorable little coffee shop in Montrose! I love their vanilla lattes and I also love their huge parking lot. Which is a major plus in downtown Houston! This is my go-to coffee shop for me and my friend when we get together. The service is fast and everyone is always so nice.
Blacksmith has that vibe--the kind of effortlessly chill atmosphere that hits you the moment you step inside. Warm lighting, the low hum of conversation, and the incredible smell of fresh coffee and food drifting through the air create a space that feels both inviting and energizing. And floating through it all was the faint sound of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in the background--soft, nostalgic, and absolutely perfect for the moment. We came in early for a football game, slightly hungover and desperately needing something comforting but quality--and Blacksmith absolutely delivered. This place just hits right when you need a reset.The team here is all smiles--genuine, attentive, and unmistakably kind. Their service is impeccable, the kind that makes you feel taken care of without ever feeling rushed. I ordered the Blacksmith bowl with an egg and a corridor, and shared one of their legendary biscuits. The bowl was vibrant, flavorful, and beautifully layered--comforting yet elevated in all the best ways. The egg added that perfect velvety richness, and the corridor was smooth, bright, and the exact kind of pick-me-up your body says "thank you" for. And that biscuit... buttery, warm, flaky perfection.From the ambiance to the aromas to the music to the service, everything at Blacksmith feels intentionally crafted. It was exactly what we needed, and we walked out feeling alive again. Already planning the next visit.
Have always heard great things but we usually do breakfast and coffee at home. We popped in on a recent Saturday morning. The space is larger than I was expecting and had a nice merch selection upon entry. The woman behind the counter was friendly and helpful. My normal go to order is a bone dry cappuccino but I decided to try the competition cappuccino along with the yogurt and toasted granola. My husband got a drip coffee and the breakfast tacos. My cappuccino ended up being a little too sweet for me but I loved how it came with a side car espresso shot and my breakfast was a little heavy on the yogurt and light on granola. Overall this was a cute coffee shop but I find that I am happier in my own kitchen on a Saturday morning.
Blacksmith has always been a favorite coffee spot of mine in the Montrose area. They have a designated parking lot which I appreciate, and also have a decent amount of table space to study or work if necessary. The coffee here is strong, and this was the first coffee shop that made me truly love a flat white. I will say that my flat white tasted just the teeeniest bit burnt at the beginning of the drink, but otherwise still a great drink. They do also offer food and breakfast options for those interested. Blacksmith remains one of my favorite spots to study and coffee sip here!
Came in for Sunday brunch date and had a good time Dress code: casual Food: 5/5 I got their skirt steak bowl with an egg added and my partner got the smoked salmon dill scramble. Bowl was super flavorful with plenty of steak and a creamy egg on top. Salmon was delicious as well. Partner also got a cappuccino with oat milk which was beautiful and delicious. Service: 4/5 like most brunch places, order at counter, pick your seat and food is brought out to you. Took a bit for food to come out and almost had food cleared when both of us stepped away for a second but no major complaints Ambiance 4/5: fairly tight fit and some of the tables didn't seem dirty per se but not super clean either. Got pretty crowded as the place filled up and pretty loud. Value: 4/5 generally pretty good value on the food, likely would come back every once in a while to get the bowl again. Parking: parking lot, had plenty of spots when we got there but I imagine might be a bit harder to find spots as it gets busy.
Really really enjoyed this place. I got the dill scramble and subbed the bread for a croissant, it was delish! Staff was very nice about the substitution. They had a great coffee of the day as well. The have a surprisingly large parking lot for Westheimer. My friend and I worked in here for a bit after eating and enjoyed the ambiance.
Cool space that I would love to have here in SoCal, with a great vibe and tasty product. Vietnamese coffee (Cafe Sua Da) is not usually my thing (too much milk+sugar) but if I were to have it anywhere in the world, it would be here. Somehow, even with the condensed milk and unhealthy crap added, this version still manages to have a compelling coffee taste. Drip coffee and iced cold brew here are also highly competent. I've only visited a few Houston coffee shops, but I would rate Blacksmith as joint-top with Greenway Coffee, and superior to Siphon and Boomtown coffee. The biscuit is probably the most interesting food item here, highly recommended. While I also enjoyed the steak and eggs, I would rate it as above-average and a bit pricey. read more

I went here for lunch with friends, and it was really enjoyable. The atmosphere is probably the best thing about the restaurant. The tinted glass windows give the space a good lighting that isn't too harsh, and it's well air-conditioned. I got the Almond Croissant and the Croissant with Benton's Bacon, Egg, & Cheddar. The almond croissant was not that great. It was really dry, and I couldn't really taste the almonds. The savory croissant was better. The egg is cooked perfectly and looks really nice. The sandwich as a whole would be good for breakfast, but for lunch it wasn't filling at all. It was also really oily because of the bacon. One of my friends got the Yogurt & Toasted Granola. She liked it. Another friend got the Benton's Ham & Brie Sammy. She said it was just an overpriced grilled cheese sandwich. The food isn't bad, but it's a little expensive for the quality. The restaurant is great for socializing though, and I haven't tried the coffee so the rating may change in the future! read more

This place is unique, and that's one of my favorite qualities in restaurants. The breakfast is classic with an original spin. I had a BLT (no sides) that came on a dark oat type bun, with an original sauce (not sure what kind). I thought it was really great but my mom thought it was weird. My family also had the sausage and egg biscuit, and the salmon toast. The sausage and egg were both great! The sausage had fresh herbs in it which was unusual but unique. The salmon toast wasn't the best I've ever had but overall was ok. The cappuccino was amazing also. The only complaint is that this place is set up like a Starbucks (it's a coffee shop) so tables are small and it was difficult for our group of 5 to find a seat on a Friday morning. read more

Is it possible to love coffee so much you want to marry the barista? That's how I feel about Blacksmith. I always feel out of place because I'm definitely not the hipster type, and Blacksmith is definitely a young urban hipster hangout, thanks to its vicinity to Montrose and University of St. Thomas. But the coffee and the food keeps me coming back over and over again. The coffee drinks are always lovingly prepared by someone who was probably over trained for the job, and who spends as much time crafting shapes in the foam as they do pulling the espresso shots. But that kind of craftsmanship makes for the best coffee I've had in this town. It almost makes up for the fact that they scraped off the old Mary's mural when they built the place. Ahh well. Those were the days of old Montrose. Definitely try their biscuits. They're huge and buttery and delicious! Well worth every calorie and penny. read more

3.5 stars-- There was a line to place an order, but it went quickly. It was very small and crowded with lots of people with laptops, books, etc. who clearly had no intention of leaving anytime soon-- a bit annoying, but luckily we found a spot outside. I'm sure many others behind us had to wait for space. We've heard a lot about the blacksmith biscuits and thankfully they didn't disappoint. Biscuits are definitely their specialty. Everything else I got was lackluster in comparison. Prices tend to be on the higher side, again for average food/drink. I paid $4 for a side of eggs and $2.75 for a plain cup of drip coffee- no refills. I've paid $2 or less for better tasting black coffee at other Houston coffee shops and never $4 for eggs. read more

I love coming here! The staff, food, and coffee are always on point here. I came into to grab a bite of food and had the Vietnamese Steak and Egg. If you haven't had it, you have to try it! I haven't found an efficient way to eat it but it's delicious! Today I got the house iced tea which was good, but if I want something hot I'll get the Daily Black. They have great beans too if you brew your own coffee at home. This is also a great place to come in and get some work done. It can get really busy and finding someplace to sit can be a challenge. The wifi is reliable and I've been coming here since it opened and I keep coming back. read more
Ice cream in the morning? No. Regrets. Finally found an affogato where the ice cream wasn't too sweet and didn't overpower the espresso by proportion - it really complemented the bitterness quite well. My macchiato also came with some extra espresso on the side, which was nice but more useful for pretty pictures than actual consumption for me. Wasn't sure if I wanted to use the outdoor seating to bask in all of Houston's humid glory, but luckily a table opened up inside right as our drinks were ready. The place was nonstop poppin' the whole morning - dad was surprised by the popularity given its grundgy exterior and accompanying modest + dim interior. All in all, impressed by the details in composition and presentation. Blacksmith, you were a worthy pit stop for my short-lived time in h-town. read more

Talk about a small coffee shop! I didn't realize it was so small until I walked inside. Definitely has that industrial hipster feel to it. There's also patio seating for when the weather's nice. There are 3 parking lots that they share with Hay Merchant and Underbelly. Also, signage is not that visible in case it's your first time and you don't know where it is. It's right after the Burger King coming from Montrose at the light. I came here for the Vietnamese steak and eggs. Like other reviewers have commented, it's different from the typical entree at Asian establishments. It was okay but I was pretty disappointed (maybe it was the hype). We also tried the pate so sammy - which is a twist from the original pate chaud. This was a better rendition than the steak and eggs but still a let down. For drinks, we got a chai latte and cafe sua da. They were low on chai so the barista gave us a card for a free drink. Their customer service is on point with friendly faces. I'd come here again to work and for their drinks but not sure about the food. 3.5 overall read more

So, I returned to Blacksmith for round 3 except this time I also tried out the food. I got the cheddar and egg croissant and substituted the bacon for avocado (bonus points to Blacksmith for suggesting this!). I also grabbed a iced vanilla latte because it was a hot summer day and I refuse to join the gang of weirdos who drink hot coffee on steamingly hot days (looking at my uncle). Quickly realized that Blacksmith's food is just as excellent as their HOT coffees. The vanilla latte was pretty much comparable to one I'd get at Dunkin Donuts (i.e. crappy, sorry DD). I was a little disappointed that this place wasn't all-around fabulous but everyone has their faults. It's okay, Blacksmith, I'm going to let this go because I'm not a fan of cold coffee anyway. Just try to up your game for those that are. Service was excellent as usual, and parking was the same--spacious and available on a busy day/time. read more

great quality coffee, delicious food, and great vibes - The indoor seating is a little limited but if you snag a table, it's def a great environment to get work done - They offer almond milk + oat milk as substitute milks - the breakfast torta is delicious (def would get again) - the blacksmith plate was also great (esp the home fries) - the biscuit was flaky and a good mix of savory and sweet when paired w the jam read more

Espresso was delish! Had my first Affogato here! Gelato was a bit on the too sweet side, but really enjoyed the coffee kick at the end! Would add an extra shot to this! Atmosphere was relaxed and nice! read more
This place is a little more pricey than you average coffee, but it's also not a chain. The staff is super friendly, they each stopped and smiled while saying hello is i entered. Customer service is a huge thing to me and they rock. My coffee, though simple, was out in literally 1-2 minutes from transaction. And it was excellent. Definitely recommended. It's a nice spot to study if you are able to find a spot. It's on the smaller side, so it can be a struggle. But good coffee and good service make this a solid choice. Definitely will be going back. read more

We ordered an almond croissant with crème fraîche and marmalade and a cappuccino. We waited for a longer amount of time than normal, and when we went to ask about it, it turns out the cashier didn't communicate our order to the the person preparing it. So we finally get our coffee first. Then a few minutes later our toasted croissant arrives, but they didn't bring the crème fraîche or the marmalade. They had to go back and get it, but only brought back the marmalade...... Cappuccino was robust with a hint of sour, if you like that. The almond croissant had good ratio of marzipan to pastry. Overall, pleased with the food aspect. The service was lackluster, but luckily the coffee and pastry was good! I would still recommend going to Common Bond down the street over this place :) read more

WORST CAFE SUA DA EVER! Totally ruined my morning. Who uses regular milk for Vietnamese coffee? You use condense milk. The biscuit with gravy and ham was salty and watery. The gravy was like a soup. I felt like I was eating a gerber's baby food. My sister and I were playing with the food until we decided to eat it. The ambience was pretty cool but the barista don't know how to smile. This place is a basic hipster coffee shop with tasteless food and mediocre beverages. read more
I *heart* Blacksmith! Whenever I visit Houston it's on the MUST list. Everything here is so good! The coffee is exceptional. The steel cut oatmeal with fruit and granola is my "go to" that I rave about to the amazement of friends. It goes like this: friend - "but it's just oatmeal". me - "no, no, you just don't understand, it is amazing...it's creamy with house-made granola and has real fruit, with strawberries!" Their biscuits and breakfast tacos are great too. read more
This was my first time here and it quickly became one of my favorite coffee shops in Houston. Parking isn't a problem, there's nice covered outdoor seating and the staff is uber friendly! I got green tea and their yogurt+granola which as very very delicious! I definitely recommend it if you're trying to be a healthy and avoid pastries. The only reason I can't give this place a five is because it's kind of overpriced and they don't have lots of outlets. They only have outlets against one wall. Bring a charged computer! read more

3.5 stars , round up to 4. Finally, FINALLY I get to try Blacksmith! Darn that 5pm close time! Anyway, I tried Blacksmith for brunch and coffee on a Saturday morning. It wasn't too crowded (Still had to stand in line to order though). There was ample seating inside and outside the cafe, although the tables inside may be a bit too close to one another. I ordered a flat white for myself and anticipated trying the croissant with chicken salad, but a las, they were already sold out (it was 12pm- holy cow). I ordered the Vietnamese Steak and eggs instead. Wait time for the food wasn't very long- especially for the number of people dining that day. My flat white was very smooth and had a good flavor. The microfoam- had a very cream-like and velvety texture. Definitely one of the better flat whites that I have had here in Houston. The steak and eggs arrived on a wooden platter. There was warm bread, pate and mayo, greens, and the skillet of eggs, onions, and fried eggs to top it off. Bread was warm but a bit on the stale side - I could fix that easily by mopping up the sauce from the meat. Greens were a very nice, refreshing touch to the otherwise very heavy items on the platter. Pate/Mayo- It looked/tasted like regular mayo, usually, traditional steak and eggs has a more "yellow" colored mayo that has a lot more flavor. The pate was pretty good though. I'd pass on the mayo. Steak & Eggs skillet - eggs, cooked perfectly. Meat, also tender, but a tad bit salty. Personally, since I've been to Chinatown and I've had traditional steak and eggs at a lower price (and I was given a big salad, french bread, pate, mayo, and the steak skillet), I would not pay $15 for this dish. I'm definitely going to be back to try their biscuits and croissants! read more

Craving their food pretty badly as I am writing this review. (That should tell ya something.) DRINKS (4/5): I definitely recommend the flat white and caramel latte. If you like chocolate, try the Valrhona latte. Bonus points because they use coffee from Greenway Coffee! I've never had a badly poured cup here. As for tea, the golden monkey is your typical black tea. They'll give you extra cups to share with other people if you ask. A pretty cheap option--1 pot is about 4 small cups. I would skip the ca phe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee) if you're a spoiled ca phe sua da snob like me, who's had it homemade since childhood, because it's just made with regular espresso + condensed milk + evaporated milk (aka not made with a phin filter + Viet coffee + only condensed milk). But if you must have it, it's not bad. Cappuccino has latte art though? Maybe I'm under the wrong impression, but I thought cappuccino foam bubbles are too big for that. Oh well. FOOD (4.5/5): Stings my wallet a bit, but the food is good!! I love their take on Vietnamese street food, like with the Pate So Sammy. I used to eat the real deal in Vietnam as a kid, and Blacksmith's version with the added (lightly flavored) fish sauce slaw and sunny-side up egg (!!!) takes the dish to another level. I hear a lot of good things about the steak + eggs, but I'm iffy on spending $15 on something my mom can make. The ham & brie sammy may look simple but trust me, you will wish you had 2 or 3 of them after you take the first bite. They don't skimp on the brie. Also love the seared pineapple bits and honey mustard inside that makes the sammy more complex in flavor. The bread is perfectly butter-browned on both sides. Do yourself a favor and order this. Ah yes, and the biscuits are great (both the marmalade and sausage/egg/cheese ones) but everyone else has already raved about them. AMBIANCE/SERVICE (4/5): Seating is plenty and varied: high tables, coffee bar, window bar, regular tables, and outside patio. You won't have trouble finding a seat unless you go during peak hours (mid morning to lunch). However outlets are only under the window/bar seats so plan accordingly. Service, both at the bar and in the kitchen, is quick and friendly. Befriend a barista or two if you can! They also play good music so of course that's a plus. Parking is also better than other cafes because they have 2 lots. VERDICT (4/5): I really do like Blacksmith. But I wish their food was less expensive. And that they would extend hours past 5pm. But it's okay, I'll be back either way. read more

A group of 5 of us came here for breakfast. It was super crowded with the line out the door and elbow to elbow inside so, I had a friend order me a BLT and coffee then went outside to save us a table. I only got a glimpse of the menu so, I didn't know the BLT was made with pickled green tomatoes and mesculin greens. If I had I would have ordered something else. This is not a BLT for me. On this sandwich, these tomatoes = yuck, these greens = yuck, the sauce = yuck. This is the first BLT I've ever thought was terrible. I took everything off and ate seedy bread and bacon. Dill scramble on pumpernickel, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, dill, and red onion. The only other dish I got a photo of. It wasn't very good either and most was left on the plate for the birds to peck at after we left. Waste of $10. The place is very small inside and the patio very narrow with lots of birds pecking around while we were eating. We were all pretty disappointed, sure it's a hip place to check out but, to be honest, my terrible $9. BLT only no side was by far the worst. Solid hipster establishment. Small but organized, with polite service. I overheard the people working the counter addressing regulars by their names; twas a good sign! AMBIENCE Dimly lit and small, with seating near the tinted windows. The way the tinting works you can only see outwards but you can't vice versa. This leads to semi-creepy people watching hahaha. There's also outside seating for the nice days! A little too dark for my studying tastes but it could work, depending on your style. FOOD/DRANK I ordered the golden monkey tea with a friend and got a cappuccino and Pate So Sammy for myself later on. Disclaimer: I've tried and tried Asian teas at non-Asian establishments and it's always been varying levels of disappointment, so I wasn't surprised when the black tea was watery. My standards are skewed towards Asian tastes though, so idk. I did enjoy the hint of honey sweetness though. Cappuccino was not hot enough... And it had latte art? I was confused. The drink was pretty but honestly when I order a cappuccino I want stiff milk foam! It tasted okay but I wasn't all that impressed. Maybe I should order something else next time? The Pate So was definitely the best thing I tried from Blacksmith. Puff pastry, meat paste patty, cabbage slaw, all topped with an egg. The other food items on their menu might be overpriced but I can say this is has pretty good value, and it was tasty too. All in all, Blacksmith is A-OK. I'd come back with a friend but if I had to choose a place solely for coffee then Southside across the street has my money. read more

Absolutely amazing! The food is excellent and arrives quickly. When you walk in there is usually a line and there is only ONE individual who is processing your order. Which I am sure helps with crowd control seeing how the restaurant space is very small with limited seats. Now let's get to the important part....the food!! Omg yassssssssss it was amazing! I got a Carmel sugar cane cappuccino. They quantity was great for me, it was warm and not hot which I liked because you can start drinking right away. The presentation was perfect with their foam designs. I order the Kentucky hot brown sandwich. It arrived open faced in a small Dutch serving dish l. This sandwich was so rich and tasty. It reminded me of a chicken Alfredo sandwich with Texas toast and not fettuccine pasta, with two slices of tomatoes and a slice of bacon. My sister ordered the Vietnamese steak and eggs, it comes with a baguette which is so fluffy and soft. It comes with a side of patè to spread on your bread. The meat was very tender and sweet. It comes with 2 sunny side up eggs. Finally the biscuit! It was nice and crusty on the outside with a nice fluffy buttery inside. It was perfect for me. For happy with the taste that it wasn't necessary to add the crème and Marmalde. Everything was so well flavored that one can't help but to return. read more

Classic. Came here for brunch to catch up with some friends. Coffee is always on point here. The food though is alright. I got the sausage, egg, and cheese square cut biscuit and replaced the sausage with avocados. It was good, but I don't see myself coming here again just for their food. read more
I only consumed one item off the menu during my visit, and it was the biscuit with country ham and gravy. I started eating it and OMG I thought I was struck my lightning. Perhaps it was since I didn't eat breakfast yet that day, but I thought the meal had the perfect amount of flavor and richness. $7 for a biscuit, egg, gravy, and some ham may be a little pricy, but I would totally order it again. It's a perfect comfort food- and you can't put a price on comfort during times when you need a pick me up. (Okay you can put a price on it, but I think $7 isn't too bad) Minus one star though because parking sucks, and it's a bit crowded in the shop. read more

Superb coffee, espresso and milk-based drinks. Excellent, knowledgeable staff who really know coffee and customer service. My biscuit was light, fluffy paired with crème fraiche and marmalade. Wish I could have stayed for lunch. Bummer. Great location in a happenin' part of town with separate parking lot, which I found a bonus. I could have stayed for HOURS. read more

I'm addicted to this place. I love all the designs in the lattes. It is so fun to watch the barristas pour those fancy hearts. The House Tea is amazing! The food is so good!!! The vietnamise steak and eggs are to die for! The egg yolk mix in with all the meat juices and dipping the bread in that is just amazing. The yogurt with granola is the perfect mix of tart and sweet. I love all the dried fruit that is soaked in some amazing liquid that I have no idea how to recreate. The housemade biscuits are so amazing. The are nice and crumbly. Oh how I wish it was bigger so I could easily find a table on a Saturday morning but then it would loose all its charm. A smaller coffee place, but caters to its streamlined 'hipster' crowd with a quirky indoor layout, complete with benches for laptop/iPad/[insert techie gear of choice here], and a free network -- just ask for the password. The indoor crunch is okay, because you have an option - there's outdoor patio seating. I opted for this, because there were open tables, it was nicely shaded, and it's open to the intersection, so you have an open space to people (and/or car) watch. Some nice green bamboo and access to the parking lot. That all might seem unappealing, but it's not distracting, and serves more as a convenience. It's dog friendly, and people friendly. Lots of conversations, but the open air means they drift, and you can still get caught up in your own without interference. The important stuff: They serve brunch, but it's that semi-pretentious kind. Still tastes great, I'm sure, but if I look at a menu, I'd like to understand what I'm ordering. They offer free refills on home brew, which is a big plus if you're planning to hang around. But they don't have skim milk, and the 'toppings bar' is limited to Splenda and Raw Sugar packets (out when I was there). Another upside, staff is great. The service is quick and friendly, and as I waited in line for a refill, a spare waiter behind the counter stopped what he was doing to jump in and fill it for me. Wow, thanks! So in summary - Blacksmith has great staff and is in a prime location. There is indoor and outdoor seating, free coffee refills but no skim milk. The food is unique but options are limited. Free WiFi, adjacent parking. Worth it, if you're looking to try something new. read more
