We come here all the time, and never mind waiting when it's busy for the great food! Awesome spot with that classic diner feel!

My husband and I were staying in the hotel next door and decided to get dinner to go. I ordered the loaded Mac and cheese. He ordered the bacon and cheddar burger. The Mac and cheese was bland and congealed. I ate maybe a quarter of it. The burger was ok but nothing special. We also ordered dessert each. I ordered the bread pudding and he ordered the lava cake. Both were stone cold. We couldn't even heat them in the microwave since they were in metal pans. Also the bread pudding had raisins in it. I never would have ordered it if it had said it on the menu. We will not be eating here ever again. read more

Not quite sure why this place doesn't have better reviews. We have eaten at this Black Bear several times, as well as others and have never had a bad meal. Recently we were at the Sequim location and had a wonderful lunch, Club Sandwich loaded with turkey, ham, cheese and the rest of the goodies. I had the special, Prime Rib sandwich... very good. My side of fresh fruit was a good variety of berries, Pineapple , melon... very good. We love that we can bring my dog on the patio too. read more

Yes, they serve good portions & food's great... But some employee there decided to choose my side for me, saying "With your order, you get choice of fries or onion rings. I'm sorry we're out of onion rings. Just fries." My friend across me & and the couple on table next to us, they all got choice of several sides, including fresh salad which I wanted. This one moment in time, Black Bear ran out of all other sides except fries for a Native American. Guess Anti-discrimination applies for & to everyone else. Thanks a lot! read more

Haven't been in about 6 months, was a complete disappointment, the restaurant was freezing! It wasn't super busy took about 25 minuets for food to arrive. It was average at best! After food arrived never seen wait staff again until she brought the bill. Never checked on drinks, napkins or anything. read more

I've eaten here a couple of times and always enjoyed myself! While waiting to be seated you can enjoy a warm and cozy atmosphere. The staff were also very pleasant and talkative, which I throughly enjoyed. We had breakfast that more than filled our bellies and took some ice cream cones for the road. I come to Black Bear Diner often. I have to say they work hard to do a good job for the customers. The tables are clean. The Diner has a great Family Vibe. And they give a nice Military Discount. The portions are huge so don't be afraid to share or bring home left over's. After reading some low star reviews posted. I don't by into it. I call BS. I have been there many times with great results with my wife and kids. Some people that write bad reviews, have no clue how tough of a business the food industry is. Try the 101 diner if you want some lousy execution of modified meals. Black bear has the best breakfast in town. TRY IT OUT. read more

I recently dined out to the Black Bear Diner while in town visiting family members. My grandparents came up with the idea to take me here for lunch. This was my first time at the Black Bear and I think I may be in love... The outside waterfall landscape is so pretty! Inside the diner is this rustic, kind of Big Sky Montana-type feel to it. The food was awesome and came in HUGE portions. My grandmother and I both had the chicken taco salad and my grandfather indulged in the gigantic blueberry pancakes. Service was decent. I could tell the servers and supervisors were a bit overwhelmed with the lunch rush. It happens! The only thing I regret is not buying the thermal onesie pajamas they had hanging in their "gifting" area. It is with somewhat of a heavy heart that I write this review. For the 3 years I have been in Sequim, the Black Bear Diner has been, hands down, my favorite Sequim eatery. The reason I relate our poor experience is due to their Contact Us section on their web site is nothing more than rating your experience, with no opportunity to comment. And this visit, though extremely disappointing and out of character, deserves comment. Our server, Kelly, known to us and us to her from previous visits, was very apologetic for the substandard meals. All three adults in our party had less than stellar food of one type or another. My husband and I chose vegetable beef soup, which turned out to be a greasy broth with very few and minute shreds of meat. My bowl had one lump of potato, but no other discernible vegetables. My husband's cup had greasy broth, period. Our daughter's potato salad was a kind of mashed potato gob with no flavor. My husband's patty melt had a small burger about the size of a fifty-cent piece, and a bit of unmelted cheese on otherwise empty rye bread. Kelly mentioned that the cooks were changing shifts, but I really don't think that was the problem. The food was simply way below par. When the cashier asked my husband how everything was, he related the shortcomings of the meal, but she seemed unconcerned, and said it was too late for anything to be done about it, even though we had told Kelly about the problems. She made some replacements for the poor quality sides, and Kelly gifted us with a chocolate cream pie to go. The cashier's attitude was certainly not one of caring or regret; not even an, "I'm sorry." She acted as if we were blaming her personally, and she was throwing it off as "not my fault". At that point, my husband requested to speak with the manager, and she ignored him, saying again that nothing could be done. Why ask how everything was if they really don't want to know? My husband has vowed never to return, but our daughter, grandson and I hoped that this was a very isolated experience, and the stars came together in a bad way. I assured Kelly we would certainly be back, and she was very distraught at out treatment. I am so discouraged that the younger people in the hospitality industry are so unconcerned about unhappy patrons and take everything so personally. The worst breakfast ever. Big fan of the Black Bear Diner but won't be back to the one in Sequim Wa. Ordered a veggie omelet and husband ordered a hamburger. My vegetables were cooked in and tasted like grease from his burger. Wrote a complaint to their website and was told I would be contacted. Never was. Custom service was as good as my breakfast. I always visit Black Bear diner in Bullhead City, AZ when there and I was thrilled they opened one in Sequim. Expect great food and large portions. It is located right next to the hotel and it is nice to have such a quality restaurant next to where I was staying. I ate at Black Bear three times while in Sequm visiting family and enjoyed each meal. All of us did. As always, the food & service was excellent. read more

This is the cutest place! Tuesdays are Teddy Bear Tuesdays and kids with stuffed animals eat free. The portions are huge, great variety, good prices. I think there is a following if locals here which is a testament to the service & quality. read more

Customer service lacks immensely in small town establishments, but it's better here because it's a chain restaurant. It's nice to know they have good customer service training and standards. This obviously isn't fine dining, but I've never been dissatisfied coming here to eat. Large proportions, great desert, and salads are always so fresh. Excellent. It's a little crowded and popular. I've been there twice with my wife after biking on the ODT. Good prices. Excellent food. Big portions...what's not to like. I eat a high protein diet and they totally accommodated me with killing me on the bill when I added extra sausage and bacon to my meals. Had my first time here and it was pretty great. Came in during the dinner rush, but the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. If anything was out, they told us right away and made suggestions. Would definitely go back here again and urge anyone passing through Sequim to check it out. read more

This store has still not gotten any better. We have gone into this diner a few times since it opened, and it is just NOT improving. Seating was slow. Service was slow and scattered. Food was lukewarm at best. Items on the menu were unavailable. The children didn't get any of the toppings that they wanted for their sundaes. We had to go and request a bill. We arrived at 5:10pm, but we didn't escape that diner for 2 hours. Please Corporate, help this store improve. They OBVIOUSLY need help. read more

This is my favorite place to eat in sequim. Very cute bear themed decor, friendly staff and very clean! Best pancakes and chicken fried steak we have ever had!!! Great service, the manager went out of her way to write us out directions. We will definitely be coming back!! read more

My wife and I had lunch today (11-14-16) my wife had hot turkey sandwich which she liked. I had a lighter meal, ham & cheese omelet. The omelet was very good but the so called hash browns were not. Over cooked and hard to eat. The biscuit was big and looked good but had no taste. read more

My experience was terrible the costumer service was crap and the quality of of my food was poor my Fry's were soggy and I got a terrible stomach ache and it was not worth my time and money. My waitress brought me three waters when there was only two of us and tried giving our nasty runny shake to someone else. It's not what I thought and I ordered what most people were having that day I went there. I am at Black bear diner in Sequim and have had a horrible experience came in at 11:50 did not get served to 115 and very disappointed this is the second time I've been at the Black bear diner and it there's been a long few leg so I will try this place one more time and if it does if I had the same problem in the future I will not choose to eat here anymore and I will always use my voice to condemn this restaurant I'm also on a breathing machine and if my breathing machine battery ran out because of the delay but since this restaurant deals with a lot of senior citizens that could be dangerous for some people you need to hire more cooks accommodate the crowds that you do get at times read more

I love this restaurant for the simple fact that the food is amazing and the portions are awesome. The only problem I would say that is with this place is that IT IS ALWAYS PACKED, particularly in the mornings. If you don't come early or call ahead you'll probably be left standing outside the door or cramped in the tiny waiting area. But I guess that means you're eating at an awesome place! read more

First time I went, I swear they didn't know how to cook an egg to save their lives. They still don't. I've learned to order over medium to get over easy. I very much like their corned beef and hash browns. Huge portion (enough to split with another person), and very tasty. Went here with the parents to give it a try. Had the cheeseburger, which was more like a kiddo burger. I've had better service at McDonald's. The server wouldn't refill my water, but brought my parent's a second glass of tea when they had barely drank the first glass. Their food was okay. My dad's steak was over cooked and burned. The fries were not the best but I've had worse fries. Definitely not returning, not recommending, and NOT worth the money we spent. Applebee's, which is not far from it, is better food and service. They also played an old, very cheesy movie during dinner. It was more entertaining than my food. read more
