Black Bear Diner is a great home-cooking style restaurant and we love coming in. They have fantastic breakfast offerings and the portions they bring out to you are giant! You will NOT go hungry here and may even need to share a dish or take some home to enjoy later. Fun interior with dark wood and accents. It's like eating in a cabin in the woods. Good times. Their lunch and dinner meals are excellent as well. I particularly enjoyed the Tri-tip steak sandwich this last time around. Their chowder isn't great, unfortunately, but otherwise everything else was great. They have their own steak sauce (tastes similar to A1) and a selection of 3 different bottled hot sauces at each table (mild to habanero hot), which we loved. Great service and friendly waitresses round out the experience here. Stop in if you have a hungry belly and are in the mood for some tasty home-cooked goodness!

Shasta Veggie Scramble (360 cals.) with salsa, no cheese - delicious!

Do you guys happen to do half orders?

We do not, however, we are fine with people splitting/Sharing entrees. We also have our Little Less menu items that are smaller portions

What a win! The food was delicious, but the portion sizes are the real MVP. I'm currently staring…read moreat my leftovers like a proud parent. Paying for one meal and getting two is the kind of financial planning I can get behind. The space itself is adorable and perfect for a catch-up. Huge shoutout to our waitress--she had the perfect 'checked-in but didn't interrupt' energy. 10/10, will be returning to conquer the rest of that giant menu.

I've been a long-time customer of No Frills Diner in Ogden, and my wife and I used to come here…read moreregularly because the food was great and the portions were worth the price. Our absolute favorite thing on the menu was the Caramel Apple Stuffed French Toast. It was two thick pieces of cream-cheese stuffed French toast topped with apples, caramel, crumble, and whipped cream, and you actually got two of those pieces per order, plus bacon and eggs. It was easily one of the best breakfast plates in Ogden and the main reason we kept coming back. Yesterday we came in and found out they completely removed it from the menu. Huge disappointment right out of the gate. They still have mixed berry, banana caramel, and peach versions. I can't eat the berry because of an allergy, and we've had the peach before and didn't care for it, so we tried the banana caramel crunch instead. Service was slower than usual. There's a help-wanted sign when you walk in and it looked like a new employee was being trained, so that part was understandable. What wasn't understandable was when the food showed up. The portion has been cut in half. What used to be two stuffed French toast pieces per order is now only one, but the price is the same. My wife and I have both had weight-loss surgery, so we're definitely not people who need massive portions. But cutting the plate by 50% while charging the same price just feels like a bad move. Even though we split meals we made it up by tipping are wait staff, the difference as if we would have ordered two meals, Removing a customer favorite and shrinking portions at the same time is a good way to lose longtime customers. Cute little diner, just hope the owners can rethink this issue. All things change and not always for the good. We used to recommend No Frills to everyone. After this visit, it's hard to say we will anymore or visit ourselves.

We went here to celebrate our anniversary and will definitely be back! The restaurant has nice…read moreambience--it was busy but not too loud, and the design felt modern and inviting with tons of natural light and well spaced tables. One odd thing--they use table clothes but then put paper on top. This felt a bit off for the fancy atmosphere they were trying to create. We had lots of delicious food. Our meal started off with the Daily Bread & Butter and Caesar. Both paired well together. For entrees, I had the Wagyu Zabuton, which was cooked well and was paired with flavorful sides. My husband had the Lamb Chops, which were beautifully plated. All the cocktails were amazing, but my favorite was the Madam's Choice. They didn't do anything special for anniversaries, but it was fine because we were full of food and took the leftovers home. I'm excited to try this place for Sunday brunch next!

The flavor palette is just absolutely exquisite and will justify your coming here. ...and on that note. I had to wait what felt like an epoch for my delicious, chicken-y reward, and despite the size of the restaurant and relatively tame level of busy-ness, wait staff still took their sweet time and did not get bread out in a timely fashion. The ambiance is like 'millennial interior design final boss' - imagine being trapped within the pages of Magnolia Table, and everyone looks and sounds like the first Google results for 'hipster'. I wouldn't mention this if the smarminess of staff didn't compound the frustration of having to wait forever for like three pieces of bread. So, if you're in the area and have a refined palette that craves rich, delicious flavors against a backdrop of open French windows, I'd say go for it. The food definitely outcompetes the annoyance I felt. But seriously, get the chicken sandwich.
