Fun new breakfast place in Layton. Only open for breakfast, brunch and lunch, closes at 2:30pm. Where the old Denny's was by Layton Hills Mall. Big menu with a lot of interesting options. We are going to have to come back to dive deeper into the menu. We tried the Million Dollar Bacon, around $6.50. Four strips of bacon with a sweet drizzle and herbs, nicely cooked really good flavor, not as thick as other million dollar bacon we've had, but still very good. 4/5 Chicachanga, breakfast burrito, really good flavor, with just a little kick. Would totally order again. 5/5 My wife ordered the biscuit and gravy, thought they were really good. 4/5 Both came with their potatoes I upgraded mine to the million dollar potatoes which adds bacon, herbs and a sauce. It was good but probably go with just the regular next time. 4/5 Food came out hot and fast, service was good. You pay using a QR code on your phone. Worked really well. You can add suggested tip or customized, choose credit card or Apple Pay.

Upon arrival we waited maybe five minutes. The host graciously offered us coffee while we wait; that was nice. We were given menus to look over while we waited and I'm glad they did, it was nice to look it over without feeling pressure to decide what to eat. Our waitress was friendly and it wasn't long before we got our drinks. I ordered the A.M. Breakfast bowl. This had coconut chai pudding, fruit compote in the middle, fresh fruit on top, house made granola and almond butter on whole grain toast on the side. There was a light sprinkling of sea salt on the toast; really nice touch. It's a really nice meal that was easy on my stomach. The flavor was fresh and not too sweet either; it was a pleasant surprise. There's so much on the menu that I want to go back just to try something else! However, this is definitely a meal to get if you're lactose intolerant and want a meal that tastes great. This is something I would recommend and get again.

A new place to have breakfast or lunch. Went in with an open mind and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was quick to notice you and set you up with a table. They even provided a menu to look over while we waited the few minutes for a table. The place itself is bright and clean. Well, it has to be it just opened a couple of weeks ago. Still, the food was pretty good. Gonna have to return to try other stuff.

We had brunch here yesterday and it was delicious! The restaurant is bright and spacious, can't believe it used to be a Dennys! Our server was amazing and did such a great job. We had some million dollar bacon to share, it was drizzled with maple syrup and was a little spicy too. I had the Floridian French Toast, which is challah bread with a ton of bananas and berries all over it. It was served with a berry jam or coulis, and also warm maple syrup. It was so much food and so good! My husband had the Chickichanga, which is like a breakfast burrito with chicken, chorizo, green chiles, cheese, onion and avocado in a tortilla. It's covered in a spicy hollandaise sauce and drizzled with sour cream. He loved it! I also had a Purple Haze juice, it is basically a lemonade with butterfly pea flower tea and lavender syrup. It is SO yummy!!

The very reason why the restaurant was cold no insulation.

The service was OK to great. The rest of the experience not so much. They greeted us with his friendly face. We were met with a server rather quickly. However, some things went wrong, with the food. I asked for my sour cream to be placed on the side, which I never received any sour cream.. I was also never asked what kind of toast I wanted ex wheat, whites. Sourdough. The restaurant itself was cold. It's 33*degrees Outside F I had no way to measure the temperature inside, but a lot of customers were wearing jackets and coats through the entire meal. I asked my wife how her food was and she says pretty mediocre. I felt the same way.. her food was served cold. My omelet was served cold. Neither one of us asked for cold dishes. She orderd egg Benedict. With potatoes I had an omelette. I also love Green Tabasco on my breakfast food, this was unavailable in this restaurant. The question you always wanna ask would you go back there?? Definitely not!!! There are too many other very well done eating establishments that do an amazing brunch !

    Charging for to-go box.

The food was really good in a general sense, other than my sandwich (ham Gruyère cheese) was really dry. Loved the tomato basil soup. I got the lemon blueberry cornbread to go and I heard many people say it was so good. I can't wait to try it. My friend enjoyed her meal. And the special drinks they make were phenomenal! I got the green kale one and fell in love with it. The service was a little slow. The only thing that kind of put a bad taste in my mouth was that they charged me 50 cents for a to go box. I can't eat that much because if I do, my medicine makes my stomach hurt really bad, so I always get a to go box and take half or more than half home with me. The food is already kind of expensive, and no you're charging me for something that other restaurants provide if needed when you're finished eating complementary. If you want to be able to take home leftovers, bring your own Tupperware.

We had the chance to attend the friends and family pre opening breakfast. What a fantastic first day. The service was incredible, the food was fantastic and the restaurant layout and design is great. Hard to believe they have converted a Denny's into such a great venue. Pre-opening are where they work out the gaps and give the team a chance to become acclimated to the menu, the kitchen and the surrounding. You would never have known this was day one. If they continue at this pace, it's going to be tough getting in without a lengthy wait. Great establishment and looking forward to our next visit. Definitely give them a try!!!

Traditional Breakfast with Million Dollar Potatoes

We tried First Watch in Layton for breakfast, we've been to First Watch in other states and this one is among the best. We ordered the Floridian French Toast and the Traditional Breakfast with the Million Dollar Potatoes, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The potatoes definitely live up to their name and are something we'd come back for. Service was quick and friendly, and even though they were pretty busy, we never felt like we were waiting long or overlooked. Overall, just a great breakfast spot with good food and a relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

Burnt bottom. I should have flipped over

Nice atmosphere. clean. Where to begin? Ordered an omelet and potatoes which came with toast. Added a pancake. The Omelet was good, the potatoes were so salty I could barely eat. Not sure what that was on the toast. The pancake was one of worst I have ever had and I've eaten them for 65 years. The pancake looked great and was as big as the plate but the bottom was burned and the pancake soggy from oil or fake butter. It seems there was a "pond" of oil on the flat top then the batter poured into it. I tried to eat it hoping it would get better. Then the bill came. HOLY S&]$!! $8.79 for that rancid pancake. Coffee was hot (yeah) and average. Good luck if you decide to try First Watch.

When we finally got our food they were told that there was some sort of a mix up with the online orders... We didn't place an online order. We ordered and paid for in person and we still were there for more than an hour waiting. Once we were finally able to eat, the food tasted good, but not good enough for two overpriced burgers, some cold fries and onion rings and a small shake that cost almost $50 for the two of us and a not great customer service experience. I'm hoping this is an isolated experience as I like to support local businesses and would like to give them another chance sometime but not sure when.

On the first day of 2026, my wife and I decided to venture out and try something new…read more A random recommendation from YELP popped up on her phone. Keeping with a couple criteria, an untried venue, check! Food, (most importantly) check! and nearby, check! We decided to throw on some foot covers and head out the door. A quick jaunt and we'd arrived. Super easy to find even though it isn't street facing. Expecting it to be bustling with NYE recovery folks, we were surprised to find a quiet establishment that had two other patrons. Quickly I grabbed up a menu and we were immediately greeted with a friendly "Good Morning" from a very energetic and enjoyable young man. We sat and perused the menu. Talking over what we wanted vs what we should have. It took less time to make our decision for our order than most food stops in our past. I ordered the Mortician with Pepper Jack instead of the American Cheese it was paired with. Our order taker guy, (also the energetic greeter) inquired if I wanted to make it a double. I answered to the affirmative, (with a sheepish smile on my face). My wife conservatively ordered the Thursday Special, consisting of the Morty's Iconic Cheeseburger and fries. After paying and sitting down, our once greeter/order taker now waiter guy appeared with a large bottle of pour-it-yourself Fry Sauce and a handful of napkins. I looked over the sauce and quickly realized I hadn't ordered the Onion Rings that I wanted to try. I quickly mentioned to our greeter/order taker/waiter guy before he disappeared behind the kitchen doors that I needed the onion rings. With a smile and a thumbs up he said, I gotchu. I asked if there was a separate charge and stood up to pay. He quickly interrupted my advancement with an outstretched hand and a more pronounced, I Got You. This, of course was not my intention to get free stuffs but I was pleased just the same. My wife quickly grabbed some loose cash from her purse and added it to their tip jar. Thanks Babe! Once again you show me one of the many reasons for my affection toward you! We sat and did some chit-chat, continuing conversations from earlier that day. Sooner than expected, our food shows up, piled high and filling the plates with our side orders, (see photos). I literally had to take off the onion rings that were part of the sandwich makeup to even consider the possibility of moving the Mortician into my mouth, (TWSS! ...if you know, you know). Im finding this experience difficult to put into words. So, I'll sum it up. Delicious and juicy and fantastic! For once, outside of a homegrown burger, I'm able to enjoy the separate flavorings of Bacon, Beef, (which I think is marinated), the jalapeño and the pastrami as well as the aioli. After a quick drink to cleanse my palette, I grabbed up an Onion Ring. I paused to reflect on my existence and quietly muttered, this is really good! Crispy beyond any previous onion ring order from any of the, what could be hundreds of orders of rings during my 59 years, and delicious. I savored every bite, licked my fingers, and made happy "mmm mmm" sounds as I partook of this fine deliciousness. We finished everything! Talked about how this particular Morty's has now been labeled a family staple. Our experience is not just made up from the delicious food, friendly atmosphere, free onion rings, and did I mention the delicious food?, no. It's all of these as a whole, bigger experience, making it a unique and favorite beginning to a new year. Thanks to you, Morty's and our favorite greeter/order taker/waiter/I gotchu guy, we both are still smiling from our visit. Thank you for the excellent experience. We are looking forward to our next visit!
