Grounds for Coffee - Layton Location Review Grounds for Coffee is one of my go-to spots whenever friends or family visit, so I was excited to try the Layton location for the first time. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. We ordered three drinks: a cappuccino, an iced honey lavender latte, and an iced dirty chai (decaf). First, the drinks were mislabeled -- the honey lavender latte was marked as decaf, but it was actually the dirty chai that was decaf. This led to confusion, but more importantly, the flavors were off. I've enjoyed the hot versions of the dirty chai and honey lavender latte many times before, but these iced versions tasted nothing like what I'm used to from other locations. The cappuccino was okay, and the place itself looked nice. The staff member we interacted with was friendly, which I appreciate. But sadly, the drinks just didn't deliver the same quality or taste I've come to love from Grounds for Coffee. read more

Really disappointing experience here. I've been to the other locations and they are great but this one was by far the worst dirty chai I've ever had. I don't think the barista knew how to make it. It tasted like watered down coffee served luke warm. No hints of chai or vanilla flavor at all. Terrible. read more

Unappealing look from the outside but wow, great coffee!!!! We ordered the large (20oz mocha coffee) and it was delicious!!! I was hesitant before walking in but this cute coffee shop seems like a great place to relax, study, or hang out with friends. There's not many seats so if you go during a weekend or busy hours, it might be tough to get a seat. read more

I'm here now writing my review. Cute little Coffee Shop across the street from a Sinclair gas station. Ordered a 16oz mocha and it was UNDER 4 BUCKS! Tasted fine. No fancy rosetta's or pictures on the top of my foam though. They allow dogs inside the cafe and even have little doggie treats for them. Girl working today, Thursday, was very friendly and attentive. Wore a cute little mini-skirt and had a nice little booty. I am still giving them 5 stars, but I really want them to change something. 4-5 months ago I noticed that on iced drinks grounds has added the cardboard hand protector that normally is on warm drinks. It's SO WASTEFUL! I know that sometimes I forget my reusable cup and get plastic. But that cardboard is wasteful on an iced drink. I think it's fine on hot drinks. Whoever decided the change needs to change it back to only hot drinks unless a customer asks for it. I never receive them anywhere or at the other grounds except this one. This is my favorite grounds location, but I really would like to see this policy changed. read more

Incredibly bad service. Disorganization from the drive up and walk up was comical. Luckily we weren't in a hurry. The younger workers were nice, but we watched an older dude (manager/owner?) interact with customers in a manner for which I can nicely describe as gruff... the weird part was this business was incredibly poorly run and he chewed out a hipster for not specifying he wanted ice in his latte (the guy wasn't wrong, but poorly communicated... plus hipsters are sensitive). FANTASTIC little coffee shop with drive thru off HWY 89 in Layton/kaysville. Passed a few times when I was in the area but wasn't in the mood for coffee. Honestly, I was just tired of trying local coffee houses and being very disappointed. Well a coworker talked about this place and how great the coffee was so I thought I'd give it a try. Heaven! What a great little place ...and the coffee drinks? Absolutely delicious and on point! I ordered a hazelnut blended drink and could taste both the hazelnut and espresso in a wonderfully even balance of flavor. I have been back several times and have not been disappointed. One note is that each Grounds for Coffee location is independent of the other. I found this out the hard way but I will save that for a separate review. Enjoy this little cozy hillside coffee cafe. I commute from Weber County to Downtown Salt Lake for work. I pass many coffee shops before and after this Grounds. This is easily the best coffee. Just wish it was closer to my house, I'm here today on a Sunday morning because I won't settle for Charbucks today. read more

The Cafe: Flavors are amazing- very distinctive to Grounds for Coffee, whether you enjoy a hot or cold drink, you can always taste the cafe. Con- Hot drinks could be made hotter, just make sure to request it. The Ambiance: Small but cute- you will find friendly locals and friendly staff. Every time I come to this location the drive up (right lane) takes forever. I have literally sat in it and gotten my things long after people who show up 5-10 minutes after I did. The coffee is great but it's not worth the wait. I have been supporting this location for the last year instead of my local Starbucks in the hope of supporting local business but they have the poorest customer service. I drive 16 miles roundtrip to go to this location. They are not consistent with making the drink the same. The manager Taylor is so rude and not open to suggestions, today when I made a suggestion she told me to find a new coffee shop. I guess I will go to the Starbucks at the bottom of my street. They have lovely, consistent people here. Their coffee is amazing. There are lines usually but SO worth the wait. It's actual coffee too, not just sugar. High quality coffee, wonderful baristas and cute little atmosphere. It's especially lovely when it's freshly snowed. read more

I don't know what it is but whenever I go to this location they burn my milk and it's not frothed very well either, it's always super bubbly and not polished. This is a cozy little coffee place I like to go to. It's near my house, has a wide variety of coffee flavor's to choose from, a coffee flavor of the day, and seasonal coffee. You also get a stamp card so that you can get free coffee after several purchases; if you buy a bag of coffee from them, you get a cup of coffee free; they have a drive through that's open early; outdoor patio seating, and plenty of parking. The owner denied me service because of a passenger in my vehicle. I drive through the drive though with my coworkers and the owner thought she recognized a passenger in my vehicle and continued to ask them who they were after they repeatedly told her that she was mistaken. The owner clearly was more occupied with a personal vendetta than she was interested in serving multiple paying customers. The owner was belligerent and clearly ignored the passengers in the vehicle and continued to harass the passengers in my vehicle and ultimately refused service to all involved in the transaction. I'm glad to see this property forfeited to imminent domain and I look forward to the unbiased service that Maverik will provide. Too bad our tax money funded such a waste. read more

This place IS a super cute, small town coffee spot. My vanilla latte is awesome! The staff was super friendly. However, don't come here if you are looking for good WI-FI. Tha is specifically what I am looking for to get some work done after growing impatient at the internet at my airbnb.
