My mother in law and I stopped at Costco in Bountiful to top off our gas before we headed back home. We did peep out some breakfast joints around the area the night before and Penny Ann's Cafe popped up. The reviews were good so we decided to head over after we grabbed gas. This joint is conviently next to Costco so we didn't have to venture far too find it. Walking in, we were instantly greeted by the hostess. We were sat at a booth by the breakfast bar. Yohe ( I know his name started with a Y) greeted us. There was a gentleman named Cesar that was shadowing him for training. They both grabbed our drink order while my mom and I were checking out the menu. I did creep out the menu the night before. You can not not be curious over these famous "heavenly hot cakes". When you add the word heavenly to hot cakes, you know they are going to be hella good! So for breakfast, I got the Big breakfast which comes with a little bit of everything. My mom got French toast that came with a side of eggs and bacon. My plate was no joke! I got a good helping of potatoes smothered in country gravy, a chunky sausage link, bacon, ham, eggs and 2 fluffy pancakes. I'm so happy I didn't get the toast. I was offered to have my toast turned into French toast and as much as I wanted to say yes, I declined. I had enough carb options with my huge stack of pancakes and breakfast potatoes. I knew the French toast would put me over the edge. My potatoes were perfectly cooked! Crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The country gravy on top of my potatoes was savory and thick. I normally don't like sausage gravy but this one was really good! My eggs were fried hard, just the way I like them. My bacon was crispy. I do like my sausage links to be overcooked and I forgot to tell my server about having it overcooked. The sausage was hearty and big! It just needed a little more browning for my liking. I did have a couple bites of my ham, I was just super full to finish it. Now, the pancakes were topped tier! They were fluffy! Airy! Topped with a hefty chunk of butter. The pancake syrup was warm. The combination of everything listed above made eat bite of pancake magical. I ate half of my stack and had to tap out. I really could have finished that whole plate of pancakes but I know my stomach would be so upset with me on my 5 hour trip home. What I appreciate most about this joint is how clean it is! I love that the syrup containers, salt and pepper shakers, hot sauce, ketchup and creamers are all cleaned and put in the back after each table is done. It's amazing how many condiment containers are so dirty but not here. I feel safe using thier condiments here. Especially with my new kidney and having to be extra precautious with communal things, that was one thing I didn't have to worry about today. The service is great! The pancakes are legit good. The venue is clean and nicely ran. My meal was fantastic! I look forward to bringing my husband here in April so he can try the Heavenly hot cakes. He loves pancakes and I know he will love these ones. And I will most definitely have to have my hot cakes Dubai chocolate style! Truly a must try. See you in April! read more

The restaurant was packed for Mother's Day! We checked in online and only waited about 20 minutes once we arrived. The hostess was so nice! They were out of high chairs and she kept an eye out for us so we could snag the next available one. Despite being very busy the service was fast, and our waitress was very friendly. If I could give a 0 I would. This has the WORST customer service period every single time we've gone here, they have always treated us very poorly. Their food has come old and tasteless, and they have bad attitudes. Just not a very good place for a good experience. When dining, I would not recommend here. We got in at a good time. There was no wait, the restaurant was clean, and the service was efficient. Overall the food was good. We went for my birthday breakfast while I'm in town. I got the pot of gold and the scone and have so much leftover. The Penny Puffs were delicious. The corned beef hash was a little surprising as most places have it with more potatoes but my brother said it was delicious. My sister got the smothered burrito and said the chile verde was good but the burrito seemed to be more tortilla than filling and the veggies inside were really soft rather than having a little crunch to them like peppers normally do. Dad dug right in but he ordered the two egg plate with a hotcake. Overall a good experience. They have a rewards program so if you like earning loyalty points it's worth checking out. read more

First and foremost, the people there, especially Hector, were kind and friendly. They made me feel like I was a friend swinging in for breakfast! The food was delicious. We ordered French toast, cheesesteak omelet, and a smothered breakfast burrito. We were celebrating a birthday and they heard us singing and came out with a dessert and a song for us. The atmosphere was welcoming. We saw people having family breakfasts, some working on their computer over breakfast, and friends visiting. First, I want to mention that I am not Yelp elite. I am just a normal patron with no incentives and not part of the "club" I stopped in to Penny Ann's for breakfast on Sunday 12/15/2024 around 11:30 am. There was a wait, but I hear that is expected. It wasn't long before we were seated and had a very kind server greet us. We ordered two omelettes with a side of Heavenly Hot cakes and the Small Breakfast with a side of Heavenly Hotcakes with extra topping on one of the hot cakes of bananas, whipped cream and caramel. Our service was wonderful, our meals came out hot and delicious. But those hot cakes definitely took centerstage. They were heavenly! Lol! Especially the one that was topped with the bananas, whipped cream and caramel. We had to take half of our food home. Definitely a great breakfast spot. I highly recommend! I do not understand the draw and popularity about this place. I have been twice and both times sorely disappointed! As you can see in the photo, they cannot poach eggs, overcooking them every time (and I hate hard boiled eggs!). And if you tell them don't let them take your plate to "redo" as everything will come back overcooked and dry from sitting under lamps. If you check in on Yelp, you get a free order of Puffs, so we did that and they were delicious. Biscuits and gravy: I enjoyed the flavor of the gravy but the biscuits were too airy for my taste. I prefer a more dense biscuit. The hubs enjoyed his chicken in waffles. The chicken is cooked inside the waffle. His only complaint was that there definitely wasn't enough chicken inside that waffle!
