I came here with a large group back in November, and it was just as good as I remember! Making a reservation ahead of time allowed us to forego the long waiting period, which was nice, and they didn't seem fazed by our kids. Once again, the rolls with the raspberry butter are the star of the show. And even though the shrimp steak kinda sounds weird, it really is delicious! Server at this large, local, rustic restaurant was kind and described the different cuts of beef for us as this was our first visit to this local steakhouse. This was our first visit and it was well worth it. Amazing food and an amazing staff. We were worried when we saw how full the parking lot was, especially with it being Saturday even before Mother's Day. But we only had to wait 5 minutes for a seat. I've been a Maddox customer all my life. I still love the chicken fried steak, but there are plenty of other options that are great. I highly recommend the bison ribeye. It can be busy, so I would recommend a reservation. Any wait is worth it. Don't miss out on the rolls and cornbread. Fun fact: they used to have someone playing an organ in the lobby back in the 70s. What a terrific place to take a hungry family of all ages and tastes! Everyone from the folks at the front desk to the wait staff was cheerful and helpful in spite of it being quite a busy evening. While I'm not personally huge fan of 'western decor' it's definitely an interesting collection of styles and decoration with interesting touches like mirrors on some of the booth dividers so you can see whether your Chicken Fried Steak Bison gravy is running down your chin! Incredible!!! The rolls they start you off with are insane - I could eat those with their raspberry honey butter all day. Serving sizes are also incredibly generous. I got a veggie cheddar soup to start and it was delicious. But my favorite had to be the shrimp turkey steak I ordered! Sounds a little crazy but if you love an umami seafood taste (kinda like crab cakes) you're gonna love this. Wish they had this back home. Why 4 stars? Because I suppose you could do much worse for the price. --- --- --- I was told by my friend who lives in the area that Maddox is allegedly one of the best steakhouses in Utah. I wasn't even hungry after we'd eaten a ton throughout the day, but when I saw that the number one highlight was prime rib, I was physically and mentally committed. Was it an amazing prime rib? It was not. Was it bad? It was not. But what it was, was very fairly priced. My bill was in the low 30's, which is unheard of at most steakhouses. But I would compare the vibe here to be more like a Longhorn or a Texas Roadhouse than a fancy, date-night type of venue. There were a lot of little touches that we just a bit different than I anticipated: the salad tasted like it had been pre-prepped hours ago and was just sitting in a fridge under saran wrap. The veggies that came with my steak were even worse. They looked and tasted like they went from a can, to a microwave, to my plate. The loaded baked potato had the bare minimum amount of effort poured into it. And the steak knife was only slightly stronger than a plastic knife. And while it wasn't my food, my friend asked for his steak to be cooked medium rare, but it was definitely medium well. But, my prime rib, especially smothered in the horse radish sauce, was definitely not bad. And the rolls/cornbread with the butter is something I could have eaten all night, despite not having a huge appetite when I arrived. A somewhat well known steakhouse, but instead of going there for dates and business dinners, it's for families who aren't trying to break the bank. Neat concept. read more

Had a terrific outing here on a road trip. I got the 75th anniversary special, which comes with the famous fried chicken, soup, and pie. The two pies were exceptional. The coconut and chocolate, the chocolate was the best. The famous fried chicken is OK. I love the mashed potatoes. I didn't think it was that famous. The soup was really tasty and a great way to start the meal. It cost $18 on the menu, my total came out to about $29. Baylee was our server. She really took care of us and accommodated every need. Maddox has the lovely feeling of "family tradition." The drive there--especially in the summer or fall--is part of the charm. You pass through Utah's fruit country and can stop at local stands to buy fresh cherries, peaches, or corn from the farmers themselves. The team is always great to you and service is quick and on point. The food is fine--it's not a place I go for culinary fireworks--but it's consistent, and there's something nostalgic about it. The turkey steak is surprisingly good and unlike anything I've had elsewhere. My grandpa has ordered the Rainbow Trout for decades and still swears by it. It's more about the experience than the menu. The setting, the staff, the history--it all adds up to something special. Make a reservation ahead of time! The wait in restaurant was 1.5-2 hours. We only waited about 15 minutes with our reservation. Please note that some menu items are not available until after 3pm! It was a great experience. Our waiter Ray was very attentive and we could see him handling several tables at the same time. The appetizer bread is so good, I love it! So soft and always served warm. I had a salad, a chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob. It was excellent!! Some of the best corn on the cob I've ever had in my life! Perfectly buttered and salted. The country gravy with the mashed potatoes and as a side for the meat is also just delicious. I also ordered a peach pie slice to go. Absolutely loaded with peaches! We visited Maddox during Peach Days which is a crazy time for them. I made a reservation and was seated fairly quickly, especially given how busy they were. My husband got the prime rib and loved it. It was everything he wanted, and "cooked perfectly." I had fried shrimp which were good. I'm not a steak eater. They gave my son his kids meal on a frisbee which I thought was so cute and fun. We loved the bread and butters, of course. It's VERY busy, but I love the homey feel of the place. Our server did a great job and was very attentive, especially for how busy it was. Went there for Valentines Day, had reservation for 4:30 and got seated shortly after. Got a corner booth location which was nice. Waiter was promo and attentive. All was food until I got my med- rare prime rib. It came med- well, not spot of pink on the whole slice. Should have sent it back but didn't. Wife got filet cut with chicken and shrimp. The filet was ordered med and came out a good med- rare. I gave her most of my PR and I ate her filet which was real good. I can never pass up their fried chicken, but their salmon is also surprisingly delicious. Their white rolls are soft and tasty, especially paired with the raspberry butter. We are not steak eaters, but I have heard that their steak is amazing. Conveniently, you can also order takeout and pick it up at a drive-through window on the west side of the restaurant. The dining room definitely has an old school vibe and we saw a few real life Cowboys while we were there, which was kind of fun. The drive up and dying in your car option is also an unusual treat.
