I've been working my way through some of the bigger resturants in Ogden, and made a special trip up to try out Weller's Bistro. Overall, I was pretty happy with the food. I can't say I'm an authority on german food, but I can say that I enjoyed trying the dishes. The plates are massive, and some of them are better split between two people. The shop has a killer patio, and the staff is super friendly. I liked the variety on the menu and I'd definitely come back for some of the other dishes. The menu is massive and for our table the Curry dip for battered fries were easily the best surprise. Some of the meat was a little tough but I'd still be up for trying more the next time I'm up in Ogden. read more

Please try this bistro but patrons have been over generous with their ratings. We had a decent dinner here but not five star. They don't take reservations but I called ahead as the staff suggested to get a sense of the expected wait time. I called again to say we were on our way and When we arrived the hostess was more interested in answering the phone than helping to seat us. Over and over again she ignored us and kept us standing with all the other hopeful patrons in the tiny waiting area. With several open tables. Wtf? Finally she came to the conclusion she could seat us. Get a plan. The wine list is decent but unless you can educate your staff as to what's on offer and how to help your guests, why have it? This is typical of utah eateries. I get it. You're hamstrung by the alcohol laws to some extent but if you're going to offer wine, make the effort to educate your staff if your patrons have questions. Once ordered, our entrees came out so fast as so suggest they'd been prepared and sitting under a heat lamp. The glossy thick and cloying sweet gravy of the sauerbraten would assume nothing less. This place has promise but it's small and noisy. It was packed by 6 pm on a Friday with large parties of families toting kids in strollers. If you're looking for something quiet and intimate, you might find it on another nightie somewhere else. read more

This is an absolute hidden gem that you have to try! The staff were welcoming and sat us inside but they also have outdoor seating if that's your thing. It was a well decorated but not over the top atmosphere that was perfect for a meal with friends. I went with the schnitzel with lemon sauce and it was delicious. The lemon sauce definitely made it. My husband was more daring and it paid off, he had the sauerbraten which was amazing. It's only available after 5pm though so don't go in for lunch with your heart set on sauerbraten. Very trendy feeling restaurant with solid food. There are a good amount of tables downstairs and some tables upstairs along with bar seating. Everything on the menu sounded really good and I def had a hard time choosing what to order. This place was PACKED! I was lucky enough to ask about seating at the bar since the others waiting had bigger parties. I ordered the mushroom toast and it was delicious! I thought it was going be mushrooms on a piece of toast like avocado toast, but their presentation was much better. The mushroom cream sauce was so good I wanted a separate cup to just drink it! This place is legit. We've been to Europe/Austria area multiple times and this place holds up. Everything is very good and we've never had a bad plate, but our favorites are the mushroom toast appetizer and the German Dip. Just so, so good! read more

We really enjoyed Weller's bistro. The food was all excellent. I got the goulash, which had unbelievably tender meat, Spätzle which was really yummy and I substituted the sauerkraut for their brussels sprouts. The Brussel sprouts were top notch. My group got the burger and fries, which were good; the spaetzl which was amazing, and the Rotkohl (red cabbage and apples), which was raved about incessantly. There's a reason this place has a line, so if you're planning on coming, try and make a reservation. The only complaint is free parking is hard to find. read more

I had lunch here a few months ago. A delicious Reuben. Tonight I decided to try them for dinner, and I was absolutely blown away. I ordered the pork tenderloin meal. The pork was tender, the sauce was insane. The green beans were cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully with garlic and butter. And the potatoes were unbelievable. Tender and flavorful. I was sad that I got to full to finish it all, but I certainly tried. Best meal I have had in a while; everything paired perfectly. Our waitress was very attentive. If you are expecting authentic German food, you may be sorely disappointed. The schnitzel was acceptable, but the cheese spaetzle was absolute trash. It was basically macaroni and cheese, but very grainy cheese. read more

Ive been lucky enough to eat at both locations. There is some overlapping items and some new dishes and drinks. I would have to say that my go-to is the döner plate. We love Weller's in Layton Utah. We did not think the new Weller's in Ogden could be as good. We were wrong. The service is top notch. The food is delicious. We have visited twice in the last two weeks. I think the standout dishes are the Shrimp pasta and Schnitzel. My husband has ordered Brats and a mini mahi special. Both dishes were perfect. The lemon yogurt salad dressing is rich and refreshing at the same time. I hope Weller's in Ogden gets more variety in appetizers. The cocktails are interesting and very good. This is a good spot in Ogden if you're looking for German cuisine. They do a nice contemporary riff on some traditional classics. The service was very good, and the food was tasty with nice portion sizes. The seasonal gin cocktail was good. The old-fashioned was a bit clunky (giant orange wedge) but tasted pretty good. The overall ambience is pretty cool but if you don't like bright lights, do not let them seat you on the upper deck to the left as you walk in the door. It's a bit of an interrogation room. All they need to do is get some lower wattage bulbs and it would be great. That said the rest of the restaurant is very cool and the bar is awesome. We had about 18 people which they accommodated, Appetizer were fantastic. We had the pretzels with cheese, mustard and pickles. My wife said that it ruined her for any other pretzels.
