This is one of our go-to's for comfort food. They get busy quickly, so using their online waitlist is a good idea, even if they say there's no wait. Tonight was prom for a few districts, so by the time we arrived it was overrun, but we sailed right through. The croissants they give you while waiting for your meal are delightful and almost like a dessert. A little heavy handed with the salt on the onion rings, but good flavor and enjoyably messy. Portions can tend to run large. Be prepared for leftovers! My dining companion got spasagna, a hybrid spaghetti/lasagna dish which she enjoyed. I had a combo ribs with chicken strips. The chicken strips had a hot honey sauce which had just a little kick. Ribs are of the fall-off-the-bone variety, rather than competition, but great flavor and nice traditional sauce. I went to a Cheddars in Florida with some buddies. It was so good and the prices were very reasonable. We kept commenting on how we needed a Pain Killer or needed to make a trip back to FL and hit up Cheddars. Imagine my delight when I found out we have a Cheddars right here in Utah! I brought the family, four of us with appetizers and a dessert we were only $50 something. That's so crazy by today's prices. Everything I've had has been excellent. My wife got the lemon chicken, it was really good too. My kids lived the fish tank in the front area. We also thought the ceiling fans were cool. Service was pretty good, she was nice enough but forgot my son's drink, we had to ask the lady that brought the food out for it because it never showed up and we hadn't seen our server in a while. Cheddar's, oh how we love thee! I first checked out this restaurant with my parents, and I remember it being good. How good, I didn't remember. I ended up moving really close to the area, and in the past couple months, we've came three times! I am SO obsessed with the spasagna, (That I can never pronounce!) and I really appreciate the complimentary rolls when you are seated! They are fresh, and SO good! I will never decline a plate of those! The employees have always been so friendly and attentive! They don't treat us like another table, they make conversation with us and they act more like friends which I LOVE, and they definitely earn more than 20% tips in that instance. Went for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. We only waited less than five minutes to get a table, that was great. Our waiter was kind and attentive, very accommodating to our needs (which weren't many) My dinner was simple, got the chicken pot pie. It had puff pastry on top, huge chunks of white meat chicken, peas and carrots, onions and a white gravy. Let me tell you that once I put salt and lots of pepper on it, it was such a comforting meal that no steak could've given me. I left there very satisfied! My son couldn't get enough of the spinach dip lol it was really good!! The atmosphere was nice, not too loud and anytime I can converse with my family without yelling is a win in my book. We (and I mean my wife) decided this is where we going to celebrate our 43rd anniversary. I was concerned because of all the previous reviews I have seen that brought up the long wait lines and little food available. Well, I have to confess things have definitely even out. There was no wait for a table and the server was right there when we sat down. I checked out the Chicken Tender Platter with Southern Green Beans and Red Beans & Rice. Did I mention I asked for the tenders be smothered in Hot Honey. There was a decent amount of tenders with a decent amount of crunch to them. Did I forget the part about the HOT Honey? I've had hot honey before, this was different. Did I mention the HOT part? I learned my stomach doesn't like that kind of HOT anymore. Probably let me know about it for the rest of tonight. We had an excellent visit at Cheddar's and are looking forward to more in the future! The place is big, like REALLY big, so don't let a lot of cars in the parking lot fool you. They also have an online wait list for the days and times they get busier so that is a viable option. This visit we tried several items. First was the chicken strips. Fresh, hand breaded, very tasty. They come in several flavors and we picked the original, plain tenders. The fries were basic but good. Second, we tried the Monte Cristo sandwich. Breaded and crunchy with the sweet / savory mix that you should expect. The sandwich wasn't greasy and the wife was please with her choice. I opted for the New Orleans pasta and was pleasantly surprised at the decent heat level of the dish. There was a lot of chicken, a good amount of sausage, and a few shrimp. Pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was excellent. Dishes take a few minutes to prepare and your visit won't be as "fast" as other places. Good food takes time and preparation. read more

I've visited Cheddar's when I was in the mid-west on a business trip to a very large retailer. My Nephew was there on a basketball scholarship so I offered to take him to dinner and he suggested Cheddar's. I remember it being quite good and was excited to try it again. We started with the honey butter croissants, like crack, the first ones are free, and they were excellent. Super fresh and flaky, warm with sweet honey butter on top. You can order extra for $1.99. 5/5 I ordered the sirloin steak and ribs, medium rare as I expected them to over cook it a bit which they did. It was more on the medium to MW side. The flavor was good if not a bit over spiced. 4/5 for the steak. The ribs were really good, meaty, and fall off the bone, but still tender and juicy. 5/5 I ordered a side of broccoli which were good and substituted my second side as an upgrade to a Caesar salad. The salad never came and when I mentioned it they just said sorry it's not the first time today it's happened. They asked if I wanted to have it brought out, but we were done eating by this time so I declined. They should have at least offered to remove the up charge and or a free dessert or something but they didn't. It was only a dollar, but I did ask them to take it off the bill. My wife ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich which she really liked. 5/5 There was a two hour wait so we decided to eat at the bar and it took about 20 minutes to find an open spot. Beautiful looking restaurant, great service and very fair prices. The croissants we got were the best In tastes since moving to the US from Europe 9 years ago. Soft, flaky, airy, delicious! I could have happily eaten just those! The rest of our dishes were great too. I had fish and shrimp, others in the family had steak tips, steak, chicken tenders, country fried steak. The Caesar salad was great and so was the coleslaw. Bourbon gravy was amazing. The only thing that I've had better in other places were the fries. Third time trying to get in, first two attempts gave up after excessive wait times. The online wait list and check-in is convenient, and it's easy to cancel! (Attempt 1 check in at 3:27, gave up at left at 5:40. Attempt 2 online wait list at 4:24, and when they said at 5:17 it would be another two hours we took our name off and left.) Tonight online wait list at 7:14 pm, got table at 8:02, got our food at 9:27. Casual atmosphere, peaceful fish tank to keep you calm while you wait in the crowded (often standing-room-only) holding area/lobby. Little frustrating that although we were ready to order, our server would only do drinks the first pass and the second pass was to tell us she'd be back after she checked her other tables, third pass was to drop off croissants and say she'd be back. By the time she returned to take our order we'd been seated 28 minutes already. Food was mixed for us this visit. They brought out croissants with a fancy splash of 'honey butter' sauce. They were nice and flaky, but not buttery flaky. Flavor was nice, especially with the honey butter sauce, but incredibly dry. Left me wishing for a side of butter, or honey butter... and begging our server for a drink refill (which eventually came). Hubs ordered the full rack of ribs, which was huge and didn't even fit on the plate! But when he had only eaten three bones by the end of the meal I asked how it was, as a reply he cut me a piece... no flavor and a weird texture almost like they'd been pressure-cooked, and they were soooo dry I literally couldn't swallow. I didn't know ribs could be fall-off-the-bone AND that dry. His sides were corn-OFF-the-cob (tasty but salty) and Cesar salad (upgrade charge). I loved the salad! Perfect dressing, shaved cheese, great croutons. I'll definitely order that myself from now on. I got the blackened tilapia and shrimp with garlic cheddar sauce, Southern style green beans, and Idaho mash. My entire meal was EXCELLENT! Very pleased. Seeking something new, we wondered in for lunch, we were handed different menus, his highlighted lunch specials, mine were entree priced. We both ended up ordering off of the lunch menu. I enjoyed a happy hour cosmo (tito and cranberry) and our dishes came out fairly quickly, he ordered the Philly cheese steak, my fish and chips smelled great and with great anticipation, I dove in but found my fish.. limp. I kindly asked for a second fru, maybe just 1 or 2 minutes. I came here with a group of girls at 6:00 on a Friday night. The wait time was long and there were tons of people waiting to eat. One of my friends was smart enough to get us on the call ahead list so we only waited max 15 minutes. Definitely a life saver because we would have been waiting all night! For the food.. I loved the complimentary honey butter scones. I would have eaten them all if I didn't have to share! I love that you can take some home for $1.59 each as well. Our orders were taken quick and the service was great. Some of the items were off the order because of how busy they were so I ordered a steak. I asked for it well done and it was ....very well done. My experience at Cheddar's was subpar. The service and venue were fine - but the food was not acceptable. I ordered an 8 ounce steak which was overcooked - I ordered medium rare - and was so over spiced with a rub it was barely edible. My baked potato had dark, hard patches throughout and the green beans tasted awful. When I saw the low prices on the menu I wasn't expecting a grand culinary experience - but this food was poor at best. The only thing I enjoyed was the complimentary and quite decadent frosted croissant. I will not return to this establishment - I don't trust the cuisine. In the sign the bi-line is Scratch Kitchen. My mom ordered the country fried steak with mash and green beans. & I did chicken tenders and fries for my little one. My steak was not bone in, and it was also rare, the mash was simple, and rice looked like the bottom of the barrel with all the crispy part, and some hint of yellow seasoning on some pieces, not all. Didn't taste seasoned at all. So I asked about the bone in steak, it was taken back, and I was brought out another steak with some bone shards, and this one I just packed to take home. Which after searing it later, the steak inside was completely rare. The country fried steak? I'll let the pictures show for what was inside the batter. The batter itself was interesting, very flaky, too flaky. & I've honestly never seen green beans this big before; but these tasted way old. Thankfully, my sons chicken strips were really good. Put our name on the list, was told approx how long the wait would be and that they would text me when our table was ready. We walked across the street for Dutch Bros while we waited, came back and stood in front of the doors to wait. Maybe they called our name while we were still out of ear shot, but I never got the text that the table was ready so we lost our spot. One of our party went in to check when we found out. After more waiting I got a text that said sorry to see you go, and that we have been removed from the wait list. I went in to ask, they said that is a computer glitch. I will update after we are able to be seated, but the wait list thing needs to be addressed. No one wants to be bumped from the list after waiting 45 minutes because of a glitchy system. Update: 4:27 got onto waitlist. 5:30 got to our table. 6:30 food arrived. Cheese bites were delicious. Monte Cristo was delicious. A bit more on the doughy side but it was good. White fish platter: Fish was under cooked, broccoli casserole was dry and the seasoned rice had no flavor. Sent meal back. Women's bathroom had two of three stalled out of order. Two people were cleaning one out of order stall and mopped the floor in my stall while occupied. Garbage was over flowing. Staff was kind.
