I cannot believe that I had completely spaced this place off my conscience! I knew it definitely sounded familiar but I should have "Yelped" it prior to ordering, though it definitely wasn't as bad as the first time. Still needs major improvement though. I ordered the New York Steak which also includes two sides. I had to pay an additional fee to upgrade my steak to 12 oz (definitely would not have been an issue had the restaurant followed instructions! -sigh-). I explicitly requested my steak be WELL DONE with absolutely no pink meat whatsoever. And whaddya know? The 12 oz steak arrived, grilled to perfection on the outside, with nothing but pink, raw (and raw tasting) meat on the inside. Ugh. This steak had so much potential and could have easily been a five star review. It was juicy and tender, but raw. Then, I'm reading all these reviews on here stating people wanted a medium rare and how overcooked and dry their steaks were. Do the chef's all have dyslexia or something? Because what other's received is exactly how I wanted mine done (minus the dryness of course..wink, wink). Anyways, chopped it all up and re-fired on the stove with a little butter spray as pink meat makes me violently ill. It worked out in the end, but the steak definitely wasn't flavorful. However, it became edible, though I should not have to take the time because my bank account was hurting me after this purchase. A steakhouse chef cannot actually cook a WELL DONE steak or follow explicit "no pink meat" instructions? Something seriously is wrong there. Anyways, my two sides were sauteed mushrooms (just little button brown is what you receive with a small amount of unflavored sauce at the bottom). Once again, had to "doctor " those up to make them edible as well. At least those were in their own separate container with a secure lid for the drive home as I had requested that ALL sides be in their own separate containers to prevent cross contamination. My second side that I requested was the Parmesan tomato. Basically it's a full tomato cut into two halves with melted cheese and seasoning on top. The tomato was very ripe, juicy , and fresh tasting. The issue was, that when you took a bite all that cheese and seasoning fell off of it completely. Not only that, but the two tomato halves were in the same container as the steak. Yuck! And remember I requested it all be separate from each other. The tomatoes had the fat/grease steak taste and pretty much ruined the value and taste of them. There were absolutely zero condiments, utensils, or napkins given for the "to go" order which I found to be a bit cheap and bizarre considering the cost of the meal, 20% tip, etc. This restaurant DOES have potential with at least what I just recently tried. Sounds like the employees and management don't care too much though for customer service or reading comprehension. Could have been five stars. We came here to celebrate my husband's belated birthday with a good steak (he loves the Porterhouse). We've been here a few times and usually have a great experience, but today was just okay. We arrived around 4:00 and there was hardly anyone there. We were seated almost immediately and then quickly met our server, Mario. He was really great and made us laugh a lot. We ordered a ton of coconut shrimp...like seriously a ton. We had it for an appetizer, it was my entree, and my husband got it as a side. We love coconut shrimp, but we definitely took it a little too far :) I don't think I can touch another coconut shrimp for a while now. My husband's porterhouse was supposed to be medium rare, but it seemed to be cooked differently throughout. The first corner he cut was well done, the second, medium well. There might have been a piece that was medium, but none of it was medium rare. He also pulled out some shards of bone out of his steak. Those could have been very dangerous if he hadn't seen them. My husband had a candied jacketed yam as one of his sides. Most of it was good, but the inside of the skin was black and burnt. Definitely not edible. I ran out of water and asked for a refill. Mario left for quite a while (I think he forgot about me) and when he came back, he asked the table next to us if they needed anything. Someone wanted a refill, so he immediately got her a refill. After doing so, he turned around and said "water" and then grabbed me a refill. I think it was an honest mistake...we're all human. I was feeling a little forgotten though :( I loved my coconut shrimp and I loved the broccoli. If we come here again, I'm going to ask for two servings of broccoli instead of another side. Their broccoli is cooked perfectly every single time! We left feeling kind of meh about out dining experience today. It will probably be a while before we return. read more

This is the second time I have been there in the last 3 months and both times there has been a big problem with the food &/or the server. The first time my food was awful including uncooked bacon and the server nastily replaced it. The second time the server announced after a half hour that she had forgot to put in the order. They were not busy. It went downhill from there - she brought a rare steak out instead of medium, took all the food back to cook the steak more more leaving my son with nothing to eat while I ate my lunch. I was a long time fan in years past, but will never eat here again. I would strongly recommend not to go this Riverdale location. We booked a wedding luncheon here for over 100 people. This was the most miserable experience. It was 85-90 degrees because their AC doesn't work. Apparently it hasn't been working for quite a while and no one ever told us. They just expected us to be ok with it. Because the AC wasn't working they had loud fans blowing. Most the people in the party couldn't even hear anyone speaking with a miniature amplifier. This is one of our favorite places!! First of all the log cabin decor is awesome! To me this is what a restaurant would look like up in the mountains! My wife and I usually get the smothered chicken, jacketed yams - candied style, and a side salad. These are all so good!! Especially the jacketed yams. I've never had them anywhere this good. Ruby River has been around for so long! Beautiful building with a ton of parking. Did a late lunch here & I had a veggie burger. Fries are amazing, first of all. Veggie burger was pretty basic & simple. Nothing too great, but also not terrible. Southwestern chicken salad, with no chicken, was colorful & yummy, although it looks a little drab in the picture. The mashed potatoes are a favorite! & apparently the steak too. we had a pretty big group but the staff seemed to get everyone's orders correct. Drinks took a while to receive, as well as food. We had poor customer service experience with our waiter Spencer. From the moment he came to the table, he spoke to us and left the table as if he had to be everywhere but there. He was rushing us, and came across rude and abrasive. When we arrived the place was not the type of busy that would make this behavior more acceptable. I wasn't happy with my filet medallions, but my lady was happy with the avocado rolls and coconut shrimp. Let me take you back to a cold winter day in early 2019... we had just moved to Utah from the midwest and were out and about shopping when we noticed the not so little log cabin off Riverdale road. We thought it looked like a yummy and unique place to eat. We never ended up with a chance to pop in before covid happened and they were closed for a while. Years pass, we never try it. We always talk about it but inevitable end up going somewhere else. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago--- we decide to try Ruby River for the first time. If the empty parking lot during prime lunch time on a Saturday wasn't an indicator of what was to come, the fans all over the restaurant and lack of A/C should have been. This was the first time in a long time we have left a restaurant completely dissatisfied. We love to try new things and know not everything is a "win" but this was arguably one of the worst places we have EVER visited. Our server was kind and courteous. It wasn't his fault. Everything else was subpar at best. The booth we sat in was so sunken in and worn that it was uncomfortable. It was hot and humid inside. My beverage couldn't hold ice due to the heat so the soda was constantly watered down. The appetizer (fried pickle spears) was the best thing we ate there, but it was still mediocre. Neither of us finished our meals. Don't waste your time here. If you do, don't say you weren't warned. read more

I've been coming to Ruby River for many years now. Last few times have been a disappointment, but today was the worst. The waiter was awful. His name was Spencer. He started talking to us before he even got to the table. He talked super fast so that three of us couldn't even understand him. I asked for my steak without seasoning and without garlic butter because I have a sensitivity to them. The steak came out with garlic butter it was very spicy. I told the waiter the steak had garlic butter on it, and he didn't believe me and questioned me. He took the steak back but was not apologetic, said a new steak would be out in four or five minutes. The new steak came out and it was undercooked. By this point, the other people in the party had eaten their entire dinner. He asked me what he wanted us to do. He didn't charge me for it. He told me he would go get his manager. He didn't. He didn't seem to care. Not personable at all. The staff seemed more concerned about getting the plates from our table than about us having an enjoyable dinner. The hostess looked like she just gotten out of bed. When you have an allergy or sensitivity and you tell them how you want the order to begin with, they should make it happen. They must not have their best crew working on Sundays. The food here is "ok", not great, not bad. It's solid and the pricing isn't outlandish. If you stick to a steak the chances are it is going to be good. They know how to cook a steak and it comes temped pretty spot on. They don't over season (good) and you can taste your steak. It starts going downhill a little bit if you move to the chicken or fish on the menu. It's just not great. Very bland, extremely small portions, and just nothing that is going to set your culinary world on fire. Sides are decent. Love the baked potatoes and sweet potatoes here and the other sides are good as well. The building is amazing and worth taking a few minutes to spin around and check out the construction. read more

Food was served room temp. Worse than that was that it was bad. Chicken was hard, clearly cooked a day or more ago--it was not edible. Some of it could not be cut or chewed. Asparagus was big woody sticks. Steak was overcooked and baked potatoes were cold. The restaurant was not busy at 4:30 on Sunday afternoon. The bathrooms were dirty, very low on supplies and in poor repair. The service was very good. Our server replaced the cold food and refunded what was not edible. Doesn't always pay off, in today's case we got there around 2:30 and there was only a single waitress working between shifts. The service was slow at first but she made up for it. As to the meal, huge disappointment. For an appetizer we got the fried pickle spears. Not bad but grossly overpriced at $10. I ordered the French dip sandwich with a house salad as the side item. The side salad was decent - hard to screw up a small bowl of lettuce, a few cherry tomatoes and a few croutons. And it was the best part of the meal. The French dip was pathetic. Small sandwich bun with brown meat, a thin slice of Swiss cheese, barely warm, and a small cup of au jus, also barely warm. The whole thing was poorly presented, not a serious or professional restaurant. My bride ordered a grilled chicken salad craison something or other. She said it was good and no issues there. I got probably the cheapest thing on the menu. Just a regular 6 oz sirloin with a wedge salad. I get medium rare and it was a little more rare than I expected but it was the best sirloin I've had. The thin onions it came with were hard to eat. Wedge salad was typical and good. We had a big party and our waitress did well with us. TBH they're the only place I've found that can produce a thoroughly and properly cooked salmon fillet versus what other restaurants have shown. Now having said that let's talk about the service, or lack there of. They're quick to take your order, but the two times we've been there in the last month, it took an hour, from time we ordered to get food delivered. That is insanely unacceptable. Our waiter tonight was pleasant, but him calling the males at the table sugar and honey, was not necessary. As usual the ambiance is great, but the place is in serious need of a refresh. I think that carpet has been there since opening day. For the price they're charging for food (Salmon Oscar was $22.xx ) , service should be way better, the food prepared faster, and the place updated. I visited this restaurant with my buddies family after his retirement ceremony. We had a total of 10 people. We were skeptical based on reviews honestly. We had to wait around 15 minutes to be seated, but the hostess had informed us of that when we arrived. Once seated our server greeted us quickly and grabbed our drink orders. My server was Mario, he was fantastic. We told Mario we had to be in and out within two hours, and we were out in 1.5! We had a lovely meal, and a great chat to boot. I ordered the steak and avocado egg rolls for an appetizer; they were delicious. My husband ordered a ribeye that they cooked to perfection. The fireplaces were lit, the atmosphere was grand. The menu prices were very reasonable, 2 apps 3 dinners, two alcohol beverages, and two regular beverages came to 101$!! We ordered a pickup order we got ourselves at the restaurant last night. It was ready super fast, but then they probably should have slowed down a bit. We had several errors on our order. We were missing both sides on one entree, so had to split amongst ourselves. Then we had 2 Caesar salads, but ended up with two garden salads instead. (We didn't want the boiled eggs so that's why we specifically ordered Caesars.) Two steaks were ordered medium, but came closer to rare. The food we did get was tasty, except for lots of fat on the porterhouse. Also, I thought they usually send you with their bread, but we didn't get that. Maybe just slow down and double check things. After our appetizer was brought out I noticed about 1/3 of the way through a chicken tender that the middle was completely raw.
