Excellent service! Tristan took really great care of us. Sadly, they were out of Prime Rib (on Monday at 5:00?!?)... which was our reason for coming in. In lieu, we each ordered the garlic sirloin medium rare, which was perfectly cooked. My husband wasn't super-thrilled with the congealed garlic butter on top of his steak though. Mine was melty and delicious. The asparagus was gigantic, and woody as all larger stalks of asparagus tend to be, but cooked to perfection. I really loved the crispy deep-fried coating on my sweet potato. The Onion blossom wasn't peeled properly, leaving a whole two layers of quite inedible skin (see photo), but the edible parts were quite good. Overall the meal was good, but the awesome service made up for it. On another topic, I'm really quite saddened to see the state of the building. I remember when this was first built in 1991 (Ebezener's 1992 - 1997), and the woodwork was breathtaking. They spared no expense. They brought in huge custom wood beams, which fortunately still look beautiful today. Unfortunately all the outside woodwork has been neglected and is in terrible shape. The beautiful hand cut logs have been painted over with a tacky tan paint, instead of their original glory being protected with a quality lacquer. The stairs are downright scary, and really should be replaced for safety. This building used to be on lists of beautiful building of the area. The bread tasted freshly made, the 8oz top sirloin was absolutely fantastic for the price. But the Southern Fried Chicken was not very southern fried and was quite dry. The fries seemed to not taste very fresh but honestly the steak and bread made it up to me for sure. Our server was pretty perfect. Kept close care of us and was always super friendly. I have never been to a Ruby River before, and I had a good experience. The building its self is very relaxing and makes you feel like you are not in a big city but out in the mountains. The food its self is really good, the bread that you get while you wait is fluffy and soft, I think the only thing that would make it better is if the bread was warm and they had some honey butter. The burgers are very well done and juicy. The wait time and be a bit, but it seems to be that way now with most places due to the covid thing. many places are running on bare bone staff. read more

I really was hoping for a good steak. Being from California, the prices of restaurants are so much better in Utah we figured let's go with steak. But the new york steak was tough and chewy. The filet mignon was also chewy and hard to cut. The baby back ribs were good. They were fall off the bone tender with a delicious bbq sauce. The jacketed potato wasn't done. The boneless wings were out-of-the-refrigerator cold in the middle. The double battered fries were good. We enjoyed a stein of the house amber ale and the River Tea, both pretty good. Husband liked his Caesar salad; I found it a bit boring. He enjoyed the Parmesan Tomato as a side; I wasn't a fan. Decided against the recommended ribeye and went for the ribs. They were dry - SO disappointed - though the meat did fall off the bone. Husband's bacon wrapped 11 oz sirloin had good flavor. We had a choice between Texas Roadhouse or Ruby River. Hubby wanted Ruby River so I reluctantly agreed and I sure am happy I did! Our waitress Lauren was very personable and funny. Took our orders quickly but because she was not yet 21 years old, she had to have another gal take our orders. I wish we had gotten her name, she was excellent and very attentive. Now the food..... everything was excellent and hot, not one issue! The coconut shrimp and baked potato were cooked to perfection! My hubby got the 12 Oz filet and said it was wonderful! The food has always been really good, it has been the waitstaff issue for me. We've come in and everyone is either chatting it up and can't bother to acknowledge a customer or acts like they really don't want to be taking our order or even bringing it to the table. Overall, half decent steakhouse, which there are surprisingly few of North of Salt Lake. Server was talkative and fun, but forgetful. We came for our anniversary (wife and I + 3 kids) and mentioned it towards the end of our meal, to which he said he would bring a free dessert. Few minutes later, he brings the check, so I ask if we can see the dessert menu (he doesn't mention anything about forgetting what we just told him). Ambience is what it should be, outdoorsy and rustic. Food itself was hit or miss. Got an appetizer sampler with wings, avocado steak egg rolls, and onion bloom. Egg rolls were for sure good. Wings and onion were pretty meh. Wife and I both got steak. Her's well and mine medium rare. Her's had a bit of pink which is a no-no for a well done steak. Mine was definitely rare. My guess is it spent less than 5 minutes on the grill/pan total. A few millimeters of browning then raw. I don't much mind so didn't throw a fit. I got the peppercorn bacon steak, which was supposably wrapped in bacon. It was just a steak laying on one single piece of bacon. Seasoning and cut of my steak were nice. Finally, we ordered the brûlée cheesecake. I love cheesecake and find very few places mess up cheesecake. Some are better than others, but almost any cheesecake is good cheesecake in my book. This cheesecake missed the mark. It was dense and dry and nothing like you would expect a "brûlée" cheesecake to be. I would return if friends wanted to go or something compulsory brought me here, but it would definitely not be my first choice. We went here for our anniversary because we had eaten here previously for a retirement seminar. We were looking forward to the deep fried baked potato but they came out barely warm in the middle and a little under baked. My husbands steak was only warm and the butter on top hadn't even melted. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it was way over cooked. All in all it just wasn't an anniversary experience we want to remember. Where do we start. Let's start in the middle....where the bugs were. Pros: -The decor of this place is great, really beautiful. -The customer service was really good. Management and the waiters were amaaaazing. - The cocktails are pretty good too. With that, there were some issues. CONS: -The seasonal Box Elder bugs. Creepy crawlees. (We were in the group room upstairs) - Food was sent back five-six times all with different orders besides the ones we ordered. - There was hair in my food as well....but, it happens. Ruby River on Riverdale road, maybe a half a star. How do you get this much fat from prime rib and 2 ribs? See pic. I thought we ordered meat, not fat. They were literally more fat than meat. The lettuce in our salads was going bad. I could have eaten my potato in about 4-5 bites. Smallest one I've ever seen at a restaurant. I asked for my steak to be well done, it was still pink; "Well-done steaks are cooked thoroughly and can even have a charred on the outside. They have a grayish-brown color throughout with no sign of pink." The service wasn't great. Not the worst I've had, but definitely slow. They forgot her water after we asked. My drink was empty for almost 5 minutes. Smoke break anyone? To be fair, the water, bread (although took forever to arrive), and the Dr Pepper were good. It will be a very long time before we consider going here again. Don't get me wrong, we are not food snobs and we are aware of what's going on with people not wanting to work and food items being in short supply. Great, that's your business, not mine. My only complaint is the serve Pepsi instead of Coke, but somebody has to I guess. I recommend this as one of the best steaks and prime rib in utah. Super well done steaks when asked for medium well then next time asked for medium rare also well done. Their deep fried "baked" potato is raw. Really it's raw. Terrible. Stopped in here because it used to be one of our favorites when living close by. The best part was our server Carlos. This kid was on his game and took great care of us. My wife enjoyed her burger and salad. Our friend enjoyed their steak,chicken and salad. I got some very overcooked fish and fries. We ordered the browning onion (crispiest and tastiest fried onion appetizer around). We also ordered 10 oz garlic sirloins, one with a wedge salad and fries and the other with the candied yam(GET IT, you won't be disappointed) and the southwest steak soup. Everything was cooked perfectly, and so tasty. We had two adults and 2 smaller kids and everyone shared. It was the perfect amount of food our kids inhaled the steak! It tasted like the salt around my rim. My steak? I like it medium. It came out and it was rare. I've never had a problem where it's came out straight up rare. Medium rare maybe, but not rare. So I did ask for them to cook it a little more, and this time, it came out slightly medium rare rare. I was only able to take a corner ish piece and the outside is very salty bland on the inside. Something I also wasn't aware of, they wrap the steak with bacon? One it's a good thing I don't eat pork, that probably was just as under done. 2. That's something that should be made known for people that don't eat pork. Anyways, whole steak wasted. The mash was okay, not so creamy all thick. I wasn't a fan of the gravy. Salad? Not enough ranch, it was good. The ranch was good as well. The eggs on the side, chopped up hard boiled eggs were really hard. I was so excited to take my MIL here for her birthday. We were seated pretty quickly, but seated in the bar area. They were having a convention upstairs, but the main area was not full at all, but still sat us in the bar area. The waitress was friendly and took our order. We ordered a blooming onion and they didn't remove the outside of the onion, it still had the skin on and was super chewy. She brought us our house salads and I had to spit the tomato out. It was soft and bitter. Then came our food (which took over an hour) the waitress kept apologizing, but we weren't in a hurry and I was excited to eat yummy food. However our food came it was cold, the chicken was so dry I had to use a steak knife to cut it, the steaks were supposed to be cooked Med and they were Well done, my MIL Halibut was deep fried to a crunchy hard texture, Her fries were cold and limp, The sweet potatoes were burnt and not edible. We all picked around with the food trying to make the best of it. The waitress never came back to check on the food she brought us (probably because she could see it was awful) she showed back up to bring us our check and get us boxes because she could see a lot of food wasn't eaten. I decided I just wasn't going to go there ever again. 2hrs after leaving the restaurant my stomach started cramping and within 6hrs I was throwing up and super sick. So to top off this horrible expensive dinner I got food poisoning . Super disappointed and sad that my MIL had to have such a terrible birthday dinner. Not thrilled with Ruby River tonight. We've been many times over the years and I've never been much of a fan, but my grandma decided this is where she wanted to go for her 92nd birthday, and who can say no to that? We had a small party of 7, and called on Monday to reserve a table for Thursday night. It's not a crazy busy location, but we know to call ahead. When we came in, they had lost the reservation. No biggie, we're easy people, so we sat at the bar for about 30 mins before they found a table for us. The bar was great, and the drinks were stronger than we expected, which I loved. We finally got seated, and we had a very good server named Mike, who was super friendly and paid special attention to my grandma, which we all loved. So, no problem with the service, everyone was great. That being said, the problem was the food. The only two who were happy with their dishes were my brothers, who got chicken Alfredo. I got steak and smothered chicken, and they were TINY. My asparagus side was cold and had zero seasoning or butter or salt, or anything. My Uncle's steak (which he ordered rare) was well-done, so much so that he sent it back and remarked that he'd never sent food back before. Grandma had a side of a "jacketed" baked potato (those are super gross, and I learned my lesson the first time I ever went here) and it was almost raw. My sister ordered King Crab and it cost $35, and she got two little crab legs with nearly no meat. The whole meal just seemed hurried and it was just not good, and it was WAY overpriced for what we got. Other than the bar, we are all terribly disappointed in this experience. Grandma did love the huge serving of bread pudding they gave her for her birthday though. So thank you for that. read more

However, once we were sat it took another 20 minutes to get our drink orders, and our table wasn't even prepared. Then to our waiter - this man was the rudest guy ever. He came up, asked what we wanted, and left without saying a thing. Not even an apology for the wait. The food was great, however this server needs to learn how to treat their customers better - especially when he checks up on us once by saying one word then avoiding us the rest of the night. I have ordered food from this restaurant twice this week. The first time I received most of my order. They did forget the cheese and bacon on my potato. The food I did receive tasted great. I decided to order again today and the entire order was wrong. It's like they placed my order in someone else's bag. In place of ribs, fries, and asparagus, I got baked potato, steak, salad, rice, mushrooms, and tomatoes covered in cheese. My partner and I had date night here on Saturday, March 6. This is always our go-to steakhouse. There was a near 90 minute wait time, but the business is thriving right now which we are so glad to see in these times. Our server Shane was simply wonderful. Polite, attentive, courteous, he made us feel welcome. Even on a busy night, there was no dip in quality: the food was excellent as always! I ordered a mid-rare NY steak that just melted in my mouth. So you expect us to wait outside in the cold for a table? It's 30 degrees outside. I told her we'd go somewhere else, and she got an attitude and said "Ohhhhhkay.." What an awful experience!
