Pretty good Mexican for Utah. Great drink selections, tacos were pretty good, apps so so.

I've rated this place several times. Always 5 stars and always a favorite. We love taking friends from out of town here.

Restaurant wasn't that busy plenty of tables were open but had to wait for 25 minutes to be seated by a hostess that didn't speak English had to use her phone to communicate. placed our orders for 4 children and 4 adults. All of the people seated after us received their food, ate and left before we received our meals. 5 tables. Ordered 2 Chimi meals and the waitress said since we were white people we wouldn't like the red sauce. WHAT??????? My husband received his shrimp soup 10 minutes after we received our meals. The shrimp were old tasting and not a flavorful soup. Our grandsons hamburger was dry and a hockey puck. My Chimi wasn't shredded beef but it was dried up burger. YUCK. everyone in the place were leaving their uneaten meals on the table. We haven't been here many times before but this will be the last. Hoped for a nice meal with the family before returning to AZ but would have been better eating at Taco Bell and that isn't saying much. looked for a manager to complain to but no one around. Pretty solid spot for all-you-can-eat tacos They run a lunch special from 11am-2pm for $16.99, and it's honestly a great deal. The space is roomy and comfortable, the staff is friendly and attentive, and everything tasted fresh. The meats were well prepared, and there's a nice variety of salsas to mix things up. We had high hopes for this place. The food was marginal at best. The portions were small. Everything was bland. The restaurant is large. A large stage is ready for a band. We went on a Friday night. They advertise live music. There is no live music. I'm not sure if they have live music occasionally. I asked the server about music and she said they have music. That was all of the info I could get. The prices are on the high side for what we ordered. The drinks are expensive but very good. It was a bit uncomfortable. The spice level was varied and suitable for everyone's spice levels from mild to HOT Service was OK, I've seen alot of complaints in the reviews about the service, I didn't think it was as bad as others have said. First visit to this restaurant and it didn't start well. Our server was very abrupt when he arrived asking what do you want to drink. We hadn't even looked at the menu let alone the drink menu. He just stood there waiting we both ordered margarita he then brought water followed by the drinks. I ordered the enchiladas and my wife the seafood enchiladas. They came with rice and beans. The enchiladas were very small one beef, one cheese, and one chicken with three different sauces they weren't great very small. My wife said her seafood crab was not real crab but that wasn't clear on the menu. You do get a large tray of chips and salsa which is good. All in all a very average but dismal dinner. We felt very rushed even though the place was mostly empty. Will we go back. Not sure at this point. I really liked this place. We stopped in after a cheer competition. We were all starving, this place was just what we needed. All the food was really good, the hamburger was as big as my daughter's face. I don't know if it was really bigger than any other burger but it seemed big when she picked it up. Kids chicken was good, there was live entertainment with a "country" singer. It was all very entertaining and good food. They chips and salsa were awesome. If we lived closer this place would definitely be a regular for us. They had some kind of lunch taco bar, I don't remember the details of when they do it but I bet that's good and the price was a good deal (I don't remember how much they said it was but it was a good deal for what it offers). Love this place for their molcajetes! My favorite is the Molcajete Supreme and the ranchero one (pictured) is also very good! I try to follow an animal based diet and this is a nice change from burger patties. My husband loves their chips and salsa and shrimp cocktail. We started with queso fondido, was served hot with side of roasted onions and jalapeño. This was a melty cheesy ooey gooey deliousness!! Must try. We had the chicken burrito supreme covered with green sauce. This burrito is Huge! Full of juicy, tender chicken with guacamole and tomato. Taco birra parrilla was soooo tender and the delicious au jus.. Perfect! Taco platter with asada, carnitas, pastor all meats were tender and melt in your mouth. I'm incredibly disappointed. We eat here often for the last 3 years. Tonight not only was our service sub-par for a waiter who only had 4 tables. When we finally got him to come get the bill, my husband just handed him the card to take care of it. The receipts came back with a total of $47 and some change, no itemized bill. Looking over what we ordered that total did not add up to us so we asked for the itemized bill. He came back a few minutes later and said "must have been a mistake I charged you someone else's bill, this one is yours" and asked for our card again to charge the correct amount. I don't believe that's a valid excuse, he had all the time in the world to make sure he was careful enough to charge the correct amount. I also believe he knew what he was doing when he didn't bring back an itemized receipt. Soooo disappointed. read more

Great buffet! I love the Mexican vibes in this place and the cantina. I went in during their lunch buffet (M-F 11a-2pm). Unlimited tacos w beans and rice. I came by myself, but I saw others come in alone for the buffet as well! The tacos were mini sized, and I appreciate that! It gives me room to try all of them. I personally did not like chicken Chipotle. I mean, maybe others are into it. Try it and let me know your thoughts! Hahaha! The service was great! As soon as I arrived I headed straight to the tacos, when I came back my drink and salsa w chips was already at my table. When you go to the taco bar, you are greeted by two people. They ask how many tacos, they warm up your Tortillas and then you have a variety of taco meats to choose from, which they kindly dish up for you, then they offer you a plate of beans and rice. I only took them up on it once bc I wanted to make room for tacos. It was delicious, and I would recommend it to everyone! The Food: I ordered a Chile Verde Burrito and my friends ordered other Burritos as well. When they got to the table they were HUGE.. I was really excited until I cut into the center to discover that it was about 80% rice. It's an obvious filler, and food cost cutter. Very little meat, cheese, etc. The Service: The servers were very friendly and nice. The Restaurant: The actual restaurant is a very nice place, I would love for this place to be a regular bar, they have a large dance floor, and fun atmosphere. The night we were in had Karaoke, the diners however didn't seem to be interested in singing, the Karaoke Host did most of that. It looks like they have a Buffet on the other side of the dining hall, may have to try that some other time. Summary: My friends and I were returning from Idaho on a Sunday evening and decided to stop here to fill our craving for Mexican Food. I may be back to give it a second try. This is one of our favorite spots for Mexican food. We love their all you can eat taco bar. Their fajitas, and enchiladas are always great. And we love that we can find things on their menu that a lot of other Mexican restaurants in the area don't have, such as their ceviche tostadas, which are delicious, and what my husband and I ordered last night: their molcajete supreme. This is meant to be shared between two people. Steak, chicken breast, shrimp, onions, nopalis, and cotija cheese in a delicious tomatillo sauce, served with rice and beans, and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. This is definitely one of our favorite meals here! We also got some shrimp empanadas to share with our kids, and my husband and I each ordered a margarita. I was not quite so adventurous as my husband and went for a reliable lime margarita, on the rocks. But my husband decided to try a cilantro margarita - a lime margarita with cilantro. I had a sip and was pleasantly surprised. I like cilantro, but thought drinking it might be a bit much, but it was actually very refreshing and added some nice depth to the drink. I asked him later and he said he did not get sick of the cilantro by the end, which is something I thought could happen. I will have to remember it for next time. Our two youngest kids got enchiladas, which they always enjoy, and our oldest, who struggles with Mexican food, got an avocado burger, which he loved. We do wish that their taco bar was running on weekends, since this is actually our oldest's favorite, but we don't often get here during the work week. read more

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Ogden. We've always received great service and food has always been delicious! The Taco bar is amazing, and the breakfast bar is incredible, I've never seen such an extensive Selection of items! My personal favorite is the Tacos de Birria al la Parilla. The meat is tender and juicy and the barbacoa dipping sauce gilds the lily for this extremely tasty dish. A suggestion for all the whiny reviewers that complain about the karaoke... My sister and I ate here the other day because we saw the best Mexican food in Utah sign. It's not the best. I had shrimp fajitas and my sister had a burrito. She likes this place and was happy. I don't. THEY DO NOT CLEAN THE SHRIMP. All the shrimp still has the poop line in it. You can see it in the photos on here. The shrimp and peppers were very much lacking in flavor. The beans were very thick and tasted like canned refried beans. Wanted to try a margarita, but not for $16. First off, I'd need to admit that I had my doubts about this place before even walking in. Over the years, this place has changed names and the type of establishment, almost as often as people change their underwear. The two common types, are a Hispanic restaurant or Latin night club. First impressions were that the place was clean, well decorated with the typical hispanic beer wall hangers, lights, and a plethora of boxing/MMA posters. Every TV was tuned to soccer (football to the uninitiated) and/or sports center. Light traditional music played in the background. Their menus have many options of traditionally prepared food, beers and mixed drinks. Our waitress was quick to drop off chips/salsa, and take drink orders. After getting those, we didn't see our waitress for a good 15 minutes to get our food order. I should note that at that time, they weren't very busy. If you follow my reviews, you'll know I love Birria Tacos, so I was excited to try theirs. When the food FINALLY came, I picked up a taco, and was greeted with an absolute oily, floppy mess of a taco. The flavor was lacking, and there was no consumé, just an incredibly spicy salsa. I couldn't eat the tacos with my hands due to the grease, so I had to finish with a fork. I will say though, that if you're a fan of green juice or smoothies, you'll enjoy the Avocado Margarita...yes, that's really a thing. I think it's one of those 'love it or hate it' drinks. The dishes that others in my party ordered, looked delicious and inviting, but I can't comment on those as I didn't try them. The prices were about right for the quality. Last week I went to El Paisa Grill in Ogden, the one by the railroad tracks. I had been looking to enjoying some good food. The food that I ordered didn't taste strange or off so I ate with no concern. Later in the night around 11ish I had uncontrollable diarrhea for a WHOLE HOUR. That had NEVER happened to me! After my first visit here, I told myself I would come back again before writing a review. During the first visit, our waiter forgot to bring more chips and salsa we asked for which was fine because we probably didn't need them anyway. I was just puzzled on why the table next to us was given more chips and salsa by the same waiter. I ordered mixed fajitas to share. During the second visit, we waited at the empty hostess stand as it said "Please wait to be seated" for a good 5-7 minutes before finally moving deeper into the restaurant to be visible to the employees there. Right around the corner to the right is a cashier stand where customers pay. There were three employees there with two customers paying. We again stood there and made eye contact with the employees (two males with headsets and a female). There was no greeting or acknowledgement. The two males ended up walking away and the female stayed back. Apparently we looked like a family doing a Door Dash run because the cashier asked if we were there for a Door Dash. I told her we were there for dinner. We were finally seated and our waitress, Selene, came to greet us with chips and salsa a few minutes after we sat down. I ordered the mixed fajitas again to share and my husband ordered the Guadalajara burrito. When the food was brought out by another young lady, she had a hard time placing my sizzling fajitas on the table with her 6" Cardi B nails. At that time, I asked her for plate since it was a shared meal. I estimate another 5-7 minutes go by, meanwhile my food is getting cold. Finally, my husband gets up to ask for a plate. We are given to-go boxes instead and we again ask for a plate. The very chipper and high energy employee (whom I assume is a floor manager), apologizes yet stops by another table to chat with other customers. Meanwhile, Cardi B nails finally stops by with our plates and apologizes for how long it took. We finally dig in to our food. The steak in my fajitas and the steak in my husbands burrito was over cooked and very tough. I also wish the fajitas came with pico de gallo instead of a garden salad with ranch. The fajitas needed more flavor and spice. What made me come back to the restaurant was the atmosphere and the endless possibilities on the menu. It looks like this place was once a club with a big open area and a stage for live entertainment. They also have a pretty big menu, although I've only had the mixed fajitas both times I've been here. The employees here need customer service training to include "asking instead of assuming" people speak Spanish. Staffing is not an excuse for lack of good service because both times I've been here, I see about 15 employees standing around. I'm not sure I'll be back as there has to be a Mexican restaurant with better food and much better service! I am desperately trying to find one. read more

Honestly coming to El Paisa Grill was one of the best experiences of my life! LOL! I came with my co-worker around noon on a Friday for $10.99 AYCE Tacos. We were seated very quickly and I headed over to the taco bar to get started on my tacos!! First you line up behind the meat bar and there is a server behind the bar that will ask you how many tacos you want and what type of meat. There were 6 or 8 different types of meat. My first round, I tried all of them!! The only issue was that the lady behind the bar didn't speak much English and the meats weren't labeled, so I had to use my imagination to figure out what I was eating... I mean, it didn't matrer too much since each type was delicious!! Each scoop of meat was plentiful! After you get your plate of tacos and meat you head over to the island in the middle to scoop your own salsa, veggies, etc. It was great to be able to proportion this myself and their veggies were very fresh and delicious as well. Once I finished my first plate I knew which types of meat I liked more and I was able to go back to the meat bar and just point at the ones I wanted. Yes they're tiny but man, all the meats were tender and flavorful. They also do give you beans and rice. & Right behind the taco station is everything you need for your tacos. Not just your sauce, lime, cilantro and onion. They got everything. Sour cream, jalapeños, radish, cucumbers, just so much it's overwhelming. Let me just stay, becareful with that red sauce. I have a high spice tolerance and I about died. The green one definitely tastes good but it does need sauce, so I mixed the two. The salsa bar even has salad. Like I would have lunch here daily if I had the time. I got a michelada with my tacos because of course. & It's huge. Definitely worth and super tasty. Stopped in here just a few days after it's grand opening. Word of mouth has really gotten around for this place and for good reason. The all-you-can-eat taco bar is fun, if not a little confusing to the new-comer to this restaurant. You get in line at their counter (in similar fashion to Cafe Rio, etc.) and tell them how many tacos you want and what kind. On offer was seasoned beef, seasoned chicken, carne asada and al pastor (pork). You also get all-you-can-eat rice and beans. Behind you is a buffet style bar where you can dress up your tacos as americanized as you see fit with shredded cheese, sour cream, cilantro, diced onions and two types of salsa red (hot) and green (mild). They also have fruit available (watermelon, cantelope, etc.) The good: All flavors of tacos were excellent and very well made which is surprising being an all-you-can-eat place. Tacos come to you as they do from a taco truck; two small tortillas with your choice of meat in the middle. All the dress ups on the taco bar were fresh and tasty as well. I love a HOT hot sauce and this one didn't dissapoint! The bad: Only the taco bar is available right now. Their full menu won't be available for a few weeks from the date of this review. The worst: NO beer or liquor license so, all you can drink is water or soda until mid December of this year. ** Overall great food and great friendly service! Four stars instead of five for only having the taco bar available from their large menu as well as not being able to order a beer or a margarita to go along with my tacos!!
