We were looking for a Mexican restaurant that didn't have the bland rice and beans, but was popping with flavor and this restaurant was just that!!! I loved the vegan list of options as I can't eat meat or cheese. My husband's entree was delicious too, but I cannot remember what it was. We were blown away with the flavor! Also, the ambiance is delightful. There was a live band, clean tables and great service. The food takes a while to come because they cook everything from scratch right after you order. Some of the reviewers were very discouraged because of this. But right on the menu, they say that it takes a while to make from scratch and I will have to say I don't care because it is the best food ever!! The servings are not as large as what you would get in a different Mexican restaurant, but the flavor makes up for the difference! We will continue to go! read more

Great food, great service. I don't give reviews very often. Only when I'm really impressed. Best Mexican food I've had in Northern Utah. I definitely will be coming back. read more

Love this hidden gem. Doesn't look like much from the street, but decorated nice inside. Service is top great. Food selection is awesome and taste is top notch. My favorite is the chips and salsa with a coke. Main dish is the stuffed chicken. Comes with an awesome mushroom sauce and sweet potato. read more

This was a no for us. Steak burrito consisted mainly of beans, rice, salsa, onions and very little meat. The food literally had no flavor at all. Customer service was good, but food was not what expected. This was a one and done for us. Hope in the near future it will be better for others to enjoy. Really felt like we wasted time and money. read more

Excellent food and courteous service. The Empanadas were great (Al pastor was the best) and the homemade salsa is fantastic. Will be back often! read more

We've been here multiple times and I've enjoyed most of their food. The gordita, the flamin' hot cheese fries, and the burritos are favorites. Their snacks are also great! The servers are usually warm and welcoming. What I don't appreciate about this establishment is that the value falls a little bit short of the high prices. They can be inconsistent with food quality where one time the chile relleno plate was excellent and another time it was just not very good. For as much as they charge I expect consistency. Our last experience left a bad taste where we ordered almost $80 worth of food to go and had drinks and an appetizer while we were waiting. They refused to give us complimentary chips and salsa because part of our order was to go. I also ordered a side of beans and rice and the amount I got was laughably small, like a quarter of what's usually served with meals. Sometimes it's the little things that can make or break a business and I hope they consider making improvements so we can continue to give them our business. read more

I chose to get the birria quesadilla for my birthday dinner and I was over-the-moon! The flavors were booming and the portions were perfect! I've been thinking about that quesadilla ever since. I need more!!! I also was eyeballing my daughter's carne asada fries. They looked and smelled amazing! I'll be back for another birria quesadilla and some carne asada fries. read more

I was at a party recently and the topic of food came up. We were all discussing what we've tried and what we haven't. When I mentioned that I was missing the summer "corn on the cob", someone asked me if I'd ever tried Mexican corn on the cob. Elote Loco. No, I answered. So off I was to find it... I can only speak for The Spanglish "corn on the stick" (as seen on their menu; also known as Crazy Corn/Elote Loco). A very sturdy and full heavy corn on the cob with mayo, cheese, butter, and chili powder. It was absolutely delicious and VERY filling. I highly recommend it and definitely will be trying again! read more

F Hot Girl summer! We're having a Birria biotches summer! I'm stuffed into my pants like they stuffed their Flautas. The staff checked in on us several times offering recommendations and refills and if it wasn't our waitress it was the hostess or another member of staff. They had the Argentina vs. Cabo Verde game playing and let us take our time while the game went into overtime. We will definitely be back to try the numerous items they offer on their menu. There is something for everyone. Friendly and welcoming staff who might adopt my Birria slogan. Fingers crossed. read more

We have been here a few times and have loved it every time. Our favorites have been the burritos. Specifically the chili verde burrito and the Mexican burrito. I had the Mexican burrito with Al pastor for the meat. It comes with a green sauce and red sauce on top. Next time I will just get the green sauce. I didn't love the red. read more

My wife and I have been on a mission for the last 5 years to find a decent Mexican restaurant. I'm from so-cal, and lived in Vegas for 10 years, we haven't found anything close to "decent Mexican food" we finally tried Spanglish.. Wowzers, amazing!! Their food is so good, and the staff was truly amazing. The food tasted like home made, almost like we were at their home. Prices are great. Thank you for a great experience and meal. We will be back for sure!!! read more

I came in for dinner on a Friday night and had the worst impression and service here. The "chips and salsa" had maybe twelve chips--smallest, tackiest serving I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. Our waitress took drink orders and we asked for straws when she brought them out after we'd placed our orders. Ten minutes later we hailed down another waitress for straws. Took over forty-five minutes to get our food because of "so many call ins and online orders". Okay, so when a restaurant will take care of those orders and not the customers sitting in the booths inside the actual restaurant who want to eat there, I'm done. Another waitress brought out our food, and we were never checked in until someone came up with a card machine to settle the bill. I asked for a drink refill to go--it never came. Never saw waitress again until we went to leave and the door had been locked. SO UNIMPRESSED WITH THIS PLACE--HARD NO!!! CAN I LEAVE ZERO STARS??? read more

Heard good things about Spanglish and have been looking for a good local Mexican restaurant. First off, they have a huge menu, so we will definitely be back in order to explore it more fully. The first chips are free and then you pay for more. Chips and salsa were really good. I tried the fajitas as I love a good fajita. The flavor was excellent! The steak is quite thin, which was okay as it had a really nice flavor and tenderness. Only thing as I'd like a little more steak in the fajita. I'd definitely order it again. Son had the nachos and they were just okay with nacho cheese sauce. My wife had a muleta and said it was good. Our server could have been a little more attentive as it was not busy when we stopped in for a late lunch. read more

They are not actually closed. They just moved. The surf and turf tacos were delicious. The mole burned just right at the end. The salsa had roasted veg. The menus had wooden covers. The decor was bright and fresh. No iceberg lettuce or cheddar cheese anywhere in sight. Service was ok but that didn't matter with how delicious the food was! read more

Spanglish has an extensive menu, very nice wait staff, and delicious food. Easily one of the best Mexican restaurants around

Last time I was in town I tried this place as it was great. So I thought I'd give it another try. They have this place for the antojitos but they just opened up a restaurant about 2 blocks away. They interior was nice, takes you back to a little restaurant in Mexico. I ordered a burrito with green sauce eggs and potatoes. I was amazing!!!!! The burrito itself was huge. The one thing that I came in for was the cafe de olla. Which is a coffee made in a pot and they add this called piloncillo ( brown cane sugar ) it was out of this world delicious. It brought back memories from my childhood. The owner was there and she was very friendly and when you go just know that everything is made fresh. read more

Unfortunately the quality of food and flavor have gone down since they have moved to the new location. It all was very meh. I crave their quesibirria tacos constantly. The consome is rich and flavorful and have the perfect amount of heat. Usually, even taking them to go and driving 10 minutes back to my house, they're still perfectly crunchy. The shrimp tacos are excellent. The enchiladas are delicious and just packed with flavor. The bean and cheese burrito is my ultimate comfort food. Their tres leche cakes are the perfect dessert. Their new location (too conveniently) located by VASA seems really nice! The service is always very friendly and welcoming. read more

This place is awesome! If authentic is what you're looking for, this is the place! So I first went to their establishment across the street which only offers treats and bionicos fun things like that! I got a michelada (non alcoholic) it has Sprite in it and WOW! tip your girl! It was THE BEST! Soo cute inside as well. I went to the actual restaurant right after, they will be merged at that location next to the McD Jan1, 2026, so you can enjoy all their treats and their meals in one place. I got our food to go: kids meal bean and cheese burrito w fries: it was a great meal my two toddlers shared it and the price was right. We also got a quesibirria burrito, it comes with consome WOWWW! SOOO GOOD! we got an order of the supreme nachos, they were tasty, I just wish the portion was a bit bigger for the price that it was. Lastly the combo #4 came w one taco, one enchilada, and one tamal plus the beans and rice delicious and authentic! Be warned I'm Latina and the red sauce enchilada was a bit spicy! I'll never get over that delicious michi, I'm still drooling just thinking about it! I will come back FOR SUREEEEE!!! authentic is this place! read more

We tried Spanglish in Layton (that also has a sister location in Roy) because we had heard about the tasty Birria. For a small place the colors are cheerful, the menu quite deep, and the service friendly, even if not as attentive as I'd prefer. A 3-quesabirria taco plate with consommé was around $13 and a large pambazo sandwich (a la carte with no sides) $10. Strawberries-and-crema cups were another $5 each. All the prices are a touch higher than you normally see for a lunch stop, though they also serve dishes you don't always see, like birria and pambazos. The food was excellent even if portions not huge and a touch more costly for size than I'd expect for the vibe the place gives off. They do have a sign saying the food is not fast food-- and the best complement I can give is that it tastes homemade and authentic. The guajillo sauce into which my super-fresh bolillo roll was dipped tasted perfect (light and crisp) and they didn't skimp on the verde salsa nor cotija cheese. The birria also was rich in meat fats and dried chilis even if not a huge portion. So in my view you're paying for the extra step of homemade time and care above the usual Mexican burrito and taco joints for our area. The crema (though they said is their special recipe) on the berries didn't quite taste like they had mixed with crema agría (Mexican creme fraische) nor sweetened condensed milk, however. So flavor there was a little thin and not as tangy nor full as I'm used to, even if the berries were still very refreshing after the spicy (but not too spicy) entrees we chose. The only thing really holding me back from giving five stars was that the service wasn't that attentive even though it was friendly enough when the daughter of the owners was at the front counter. (She was often away in the back even though only a couple of tables were filled at lunch time and only a couple take-away walk-ins). Seems like she was running the restaurant herself. No water was served at the table nor any place to help oneself. And while the place is modest in size/decor (though not dirty) a lot of houseflies had come in as customers enter and leave. Would like to see them solve those things. read more

We tried this place for the first time and were SO impressed!! Everything we ate was scrumptious! Chips and salad were great, with a perfectly hot and smoky salsa with warm chips. Loved the combo #4 with the taco being the star of the show. Birria tacos, burritos, and street tacos were all delectable. Even the rice and beans were really great! We appreciated the timing on our Door Dash order as well. It was just a few minutes late, but mostly still warm. You could tell they took care to package it hot for the journey. Was hungry and ordered the huevos rancheros sunny side up with a crispy tortilla (supposedly came with ham) and a menudo to go. I recieved this... Soggy tortillas not crispy how I asked for them to be with two of the thinnest slices of deli ham I've ever seen in my life used as garnish. I mentioned it all to the server and she giggled and said that's how they serve it. I didn't even bother mentioning the tortillas not being crispy how I ordered them. I just got up and left. Greeted immediately by Yulena. She was very nice and attentive. Photos on their Yelp don't paint the true picture of what they serve. They also sell piñatas and a variety of Mexican Candies. I walked into this restaurant at 7:59pm. It took about 2 minutes to have someone notice me. It was a female big in size, i did not catch her name. She asked me with the biggest attitude if I was there for an order and I said no I was there to order. Immediately she said well we are closed "can't you see?" Then immediately said "Byyyeeeeee" and then repeated herself saying "Byyyeeee" in a cery condescending tone and attitude. There was no apology about kicking me out and being closed just pure attitude and very very very bad customer service. Go spend your hard earned money somewhere where they have good customer service with no Attitudes. read more
