Small Mexican restaurant with a quaint dining area, food was great. Salsa was a little watered down. This is pretty authentic. Service was good but seemed like little lady running the place also was cooking read more

Asada Taco was delicious, but the menudo unfortunately tasted like tomato soup. Overall a cute place, but my journey for menudo continues. read more

This place was soso good! One of the best I've had in Utah. Jarochos is a small joint located in Layton, and upon entering, you are greeted by a sweet lady. We ordered many different items, and the menu offers a lot too. The choriqueso and chips were the perfect appetizer. There was so much queso that I just wished we had a bit more chips. The gordita inflada was something I have not had before, and I really enjoyed it. The tacos were flavorful, and the chicken empanada was tasty and fried perfectly. The only thing I would mention is that the service takes a bit long, but I don't think they have much staff, so plan to wait a bit for your food. However, I will definitely be returning if I'm ever in the area! read more

Worst service. Refused to serve me a to go because they were closing in 15 mins. Do not recommend

Excellent food. Reviewers praise it as "authentic Mexican food". I have no experience to know if that is true or not, but the menu choices are quite different than those I've seen in most American nMexican restaurants. I had four enchiladas smothered with mole, and I thought it very tasty, even though the heat level was right at the edge of my liking (I'm a wimp, I'm sure others would rate it as only medium heat). I'll be back to try some of the other dishes. read more

I asked if they could make me a chicken mole burrito and they did. It was pretty damn good mole sauce. I'm in town from Los Angeles and I have pretty high standards for Mexican food and I liked this place. Definitely recommend trying it out. I smashed it before I got a picture in lol read more

Jarochos Restaurant - It was a chicken mole burrito - Mexican Near Me - Layton, Utah

Small little hole in the wall but the food was good. Felt like a home cooked meal. The pork quesadilla was good and the burrito was huge.

I've been here twice, came back today for a third time. So far everything I've ordered was absolutely delicious. I'm from Los Angeles where some of the best Mexican restaurants reside, I know my stuff. The menudo, empanadas, flautas and everything else I've had has been delicious! Everything was fresh and made to order. Handmade tortillas, delicious salsas I can go on and on. This is quality authentic Mexican food and a must try. 4/5 stars I always come here when I'm In Utah read more

Updated review: just went back and after a 5star review when this place was just getting going I've got to say I'm much disappointed with where its gone. Menu has changed but only in price. They added an option for chips and salsa but you have to pay for them. And the staff has become much less friendly. The food is still really good, but I won't be back anytime soon. To bad, I really want to like this place. On a side note. Watch your final price. I had a ticket for two and was up charged over $5. She doesn't give you an itemized bill just runs a calculator or tells you a price. I know two of us didn't order that much food even after being charged for chips and salsa. I paid it but purely to see if she would be dishonest with me. Unfortunately 5 stars goes to a 1 for dishonest businesses. read more

Amazing food! It was our first time here, and we wanted to sample a few things from the menu. We had tacos, sope, a quesadilla, and a gordita. It was all delicious. We loved it! The owner was telling us that she makes a unique special every day, and we are planning on coming back to try it. Whatever she cooks is going to be delicious! Come try this food! read more

This place is delicious. The Asada Tacos were very flavorful. They were seasoned well and the meat was juicy, not dry. The Pastor Tacos were quite good. I missed the pieces of pineapple in them though. I really enjoyed the Tostada El Pollo. The chicken was delicious. If you get a chance to try the habanero sauce and the Diablo sauce you will enjoy them a lot if you like spicy sauces. The Diablo sauce is definitely picante. - He Said read more

Absolutely authentic Mexican food. Moving from Southern California, I was going to miss Mexican food, but this IS the spot for it. Carne Asada taco 4.1/5: SUPER flavorful. The flavor isn't one noted and has a citrusy taste to it. Average small size taco Picada 3.6/5: I had the the chipotle one. Perfectly spicy. The masa is made in house and it's great Tamale 3.2/5: Had the verde. Average tamal, nothing special Burrito 5:5/ ENORMOUS and covered in sauce. So freaking good Quesadillas 5/5: Bomb.com with their asada. Size wise it's around 3x a taco bell quesadillas. Comes with 3 different sauces to dip into. Come here for delicious and authentic Mexican food. You will be far from disappointed read more

Great food and service! Can't wait to go back! Very reasonably priced. One of my daughters favorite

Cute little Mexican restaurant with cute decor of its history. Food is good. We had a great server helpful with recommendations.

We showed up for a late lunch on a Monday. They were only taking call in take out orders, so we ordered 8 tacos and sat in the car while they were put together. Tacos were something like $1.75 a piece and while they were very small, they were loaded up! Totally delicious and perfectly prepped. Both salsas were tasty, but neither of them overly impressed us. We definitely plan to go back and try their delicious looking burritos! read more

Food was good. But unfortunately a lot of what was on the menu they couldn't serve because they ran out. One after the other, sorry sir.

A hidden gem on Main Street in Layton. It's worth searching for because it's delicious Mexican food made by such kind people. My husband had a quesadilla and tacos, it was a ton of food and he loved it. I had chicken flautas, I get them every time I go because they are so good! My son is a regular there and they make him a special plate that isn't on their menu because it's a favorite of his from when he lived in Mexico. It's called Milanesa and it's basically super thin chicken fried steak. This place is so good AND a bargain. read more

Perhaps the most authentic Mexican food I have ever eaten. It was delicious. They are small but worth it.

I've never been to Utah before, and I had no idea what to expect from a Mexican restaurant here. WOW! Excellent food, very fresh and flavorful. (And plenty of it!) Our group of six got many different entrees, and each one was uniquely wonderful! If you like fresh, authentic, homemade Mexican food - RUN don't walk to this fantastic place! read more

Wow! This is some wonderfully surprising authentic Mexican food!! What a treat! Just moved to UT from So. CA so I know good Mexican food when I taste it. This little hidden place has wonderful service from the owner and her aunt who run the place. It is located inside the Argentinian store called El Mate' and is open until 7pm Mon-Sat. The style of Mexican food served is from the state of Veracruz. I ordered a couple of chicken empanadas and a chicken tostada. Absolutely fabulous! read more

We've lived in the Clearfield/Layton area for 15 years and have apparently been too dumb to visit this marvelous restaurant. The food and pricing are excellent. I recommend the chicken tostada, street tacos, and tamales. My only regret in life is not visiting earlier.... read more

Was very scared of going here just because I have been to a few bad Mexican restaurants and they have really let me down. Glad I came here though. Their tacos, specially the tripas are crunchy, flavorful and delicious. The chips and salsa are a big deal to me and even though they are different, the chips were salty hardier with visible ground corn and the salsa was slightly on the sweeter side making it perfect for their chips. The sopas were also very good. My husband loves them. Just be careful with their spicier sauce. It will burn your face off. Was impressed and am going again today driving al the way from Brigham for this. Definitely recommend. read more

Great food! We stopped in after a hot day at Great Salt Lake and so glad we did. I had a chicken tostada and it was so light and refreshing. The crema was the perfect touch with the chicken, tomato, and avocado. We also had the fried plantains and they were the best I've ever had! They come with refried beans, which was perfect for me, as my tostada was served alone. The plantains were crispy and lightly sweet, an excellent light dessert. I love this place and wish I lived here so I could go more often! read more

Excellent food. Salsa verde enchiladas were very flavorful and the plantains made a great dessert at the end of the meal.

Hands-down the best authentic Mexican food I've ever had. My husband and I ate here during our short stay in October and I've been craving the Gorditas, tacos, and enchiladas ever since. If you love Mexican food, you've GOTTA try this place. I watched the proprietor form tortillas with her own hands! Amazing. read more

Authentic and so tasty on the soul. Been coming here for a few years. Let's keep helping them out during this pandemic! We have tried the enchiladas, burritos, street tacos and empanadas.
