We stopped in on an early Sunday afternoon. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time but soon after the place was really busy. We both ordered chicken. I got the chicken burrito and my wife got the chicken nachos. We both liked the dishes. The chicken was really moist and if you got a piece of the outside the spices on the skin were really flavorful. As another reviewer stated the burrito could have had more chicken pieces. I wanted to try the pastor tacos, tamales, and chicken plate. Since I could not eat all that at one time I'll be back to try each of those. Also the asada fries looked amazing. This is one of my son's favorite spots to eat in Ogden. Get a number 1 and enjoy 2 pieces of grilled chicken and rice and beans. It is seasoned well and tastes really good. You can't go wrong with it. The tamales are not too bad. I would recommend sticking to the pollo. It's truly their specialty. The onions are extremely tasty and the chicken skin is delicious. What a hole in the wall! We love it. It is authentic Mexican food from the Hermosillo region of Mexico. The portions are good and the staff is friendly enough. The tables are basically picnic tables and the feel is like a food truck inside a building. The location is tricky but we keep going back. read more

That being said, there's nothing amazing about the rice and beans, and the thicker parts of the chicken were dry. Also, I won't be getting sides here again. Because they were very bland as well, not authentic Mexican tasting -that was the rice, beans, macaroni salad and even the asada street tacos. Those items were a never again for me unfortunately those sides were not tasty at all.) Flavor those items up & I will buy and try them again. I was really planning on going to a different Mexican restaurant but saw this "Hole in the wall" and decided to give it a shot. It was clean and a simple menu. As I stepped up to the counter there were several chicken butterflied (spatchcocked) on the grill. It smelled fantastic. I ordered a spicy pork burrito and my wife got a carne Asada burrito. Both were excellent. Just the right mix of beans, rice and meat. We also had horchata which was also very good. I'm picky about my horchata too. The menu was simple but a good variety. With the name Señor Pollo there was more chicken items of the menu than anything else but it still had all the proteins with the regular Mexican items. They also had 2 and 3 piece chicken plates along with whole, half and two chicken options. All in all, I was impressed with the options and taste of the food. I've loved this place ever since they opened. The chicken is fire grilled right there in-store and seasoned perfectly. The whole chicken combo is awesome. It's always clean, and busy. The manager and workers definitely take pride in the quality of food and service. The chicken is the best, but the other meats are great too. I had only one complaint about accepting Amex cards.... We wanted to try this restaurant as we have heard great things about the place. Unfortunately our experience was less than the stellar occasions recounted by other diners. I ordered the 2 piece chicken to go but didn't check the box before I left for home. First mistake. It was disappointing to find that one of the 2 pieces was a very crispy, and very dry, lower back. The other one was a leg. Second mistake was not taking a picture because, as y'all know, a picture is worth a thousand words. At any rate, I didn't have time to go back so I made do with what was available. The taste was fine, but I did have to choke down the bits and pieces of chicken due to it being over-cooked. Rice and beans were good but for the price, it just wasn't worth it. Sorry Senor Pollo, no return visit from me. Those of you who had a great dining experience there, I salute you with good cheer and probably more than a little jealousy. It could have been great for us as well. The staff were cheerful and friendly. I'm not sure what went haywire. Oh well. Recommendation: check your to-go box prior to leaving to make sure you really are getting your $7+ worth of food. read more
