If you told me that this place was your Hispanic friend's favorite spot I would not be surprised. We ordered three tacos (pollo, asada, and birria) and added cheese, lettuce and pico, and they were soooo good! There were a perfect size... they felt a little bigger than street tacos but not overbearing. I also dipped them in the green salsa that comes with the chips and damn, that salsa is good. My partner got 3 birria enchiladas smothered in red sauce and the flavors were all there. The only thing we should have done differently was ordered all 3 meats in the enchiladas. It was impossible to choose a favorite meat option. The rice was cooked to perfection and fluffy. And the beans were the perfect consistency. The server was incredibly sweet and attentive. The music was a perfect playlist of Spanish hip hop and pop. Idk what the lyrics mean but they are probably telling their friends how good this place The decor is so badass! It has a custom painted dia de muertos mural celebrating the city of Ogden. This place just feels like a love of the food. AMAZING!! The food is delicious and fresh. We got their cheese+beef enchiladas- so good! But, the real star is their empanadas. They are made by the order, so they are fresh and piping hot when you get them. They are packed with cheese and whichever protein you choose. We got the beef one and I daydream about it all the time. They are massive too! Also, their horchata is the best I have had in UT so far. Not too sweet and not watered down. The service is awesome- they are quick and efficient and make you feel welcomed. My order was incorrect; they don't even pay attention to what you're ordering. On top of that, they have terrible attitudes and surly expressions. This is my third time here in 2 weeks, and I'm all about it! My exposure to Hispanic food is only limited to within the states, but I've lived in Texas for some time so I feel like I have at least good appreciation for good American Hispanic food. And I love this restaurant! We have not tried anything that we didn't love. Their complimentary chips are homemade, and salsa is a green creamy salsa, I love it and it's a little different from most other Mexican restaurants. You can't go wrong with anything birria - so flavorful and I love the accompanying broth. I have yet to try the birria in its broth, but I bet that will cure any winter blues in a pinch! I also happen to love their empanadas, they are HUGE!! I liked the shrimp one because it's super flavorful and even has seasoning in the dough, the birria one is good too, but chicken was sold out last time we ordered, look forward to trying the chicken empanada soon. Hidden gem for some good Mexican food! This is one of those places that you'd never try on accident. It's in the industrial park and way out of the way for most people. But, once you find out about it you are in luck for some good food! I had ceviche, a birria taco, and it was an enchilada for my wife. All was fresh, hot, and had good flavor. Their salsa and chips were good as well. The ladies running the registers and serving were great! As to why 4 of 5 stars.. it was quite good, there just wasn't anything that wowed us. This restaurant came highly recommended! So today was the perfect day to try it!!! The weather was a bit cool, and we felt like eating something warm and tasty! When we drove into the parking lot it was packed, that is always a good sign of great food!!! When we opened the door, we could smell delicious foods cooking!!! The staff was in the process of decorating their holiday tree with candy canes, lights, and ornaments!!! it looked quite festive!!! When we sat down, we were brought freshly fried tortilla chips and avocado salsa, it was delicious!! The salsa was creamy with a hint of lime. We ordered Birria de Res and to drink Horchata and Aqua de Melon. When our food arrived, I was surprised by the quality and presentation!! The maiz tortillas were homemade!!! They were delicious!!! The Birria came with rice and beans, and sides of chopped onion, cilantro, lime, and spicy chiles arbol salsa. The carne was tender, well seasoned, it just broke apart with your fork! I was so happy to be eating this delicious meal!!!! My tummy was very happy!!! The drinks were excellent, they put real cantaloupe melon in their agua de melon!!! I highly recommend Casa de Nena! From the service to the food, our visit tonight was stellar. My husband absolutely loved his birria Plato and their birria mula was delicious! The coffee flan was soooo yum! Our server was super friendly and helpful in explaining what each dish was to us. We're sad we overdid it & didn't get a chance to get to make it to the cameron empanadas/tacos, but I bit into both & they were sooo good! Will make for great leftovers. "Flows like a cartoon lady and nightly." No, that's not it. "Flow like a harpoon daily and nightly." Can that be it? Can that be the line in Ice, Ice, Baby? Flow like a harpoon? How does a harpoon flow? Or is he talking about his flows are like harpoons--pointed and fast? I actually looked up this old Vanilla Ice lyric and once I found the actual lyric I was still like whaaaa? Which is exactly how I feel about Casa de Nena. I mean, I punched it up on the Yelp app and thought the pin drop just had to be wrong, but since I don't know Ogden very well I just used map navigation and drove the two miles to check out this new spot. So even when it turns out I was right, and I did find the place, I was like whaaaa? If ever there's a place that's figuratively (and literally) on "the other side of the tracks" I think this it. If you've seen those masssssive grain silos from the freeway that read "Farmers Grain Co-Op" then you know exactly where this restaurant is--it's right across the street. I parked, wandered in about a half hour before closing, and didn't know what to expect. What I found was this: really nice people, solid simple Mexican food from a very simple menu, and incredibly cheap prices. The interior is sparse and spartan, though they did put some thought into painting. There are some booths, but there are also some folding tables and chairs. I have to imagine they do a busier lunch as there are some industrial businesses nearby, and maybe they fill those tables, but at dinner it was lonely. There was one party that came in after me, and then two people who brought in big old bags of Burger King and sat at the counter to eat them. Honestly, that last bit was really off-putting and even if they're the owners/managers/whatever, it brought the whole place down to a weird vibe. The menu is pretty small, but with some variety. They're all-in when it comes to birria. Their version of this stew is made from beef, and doesn't carry much spice but is packed with flavor and the meat is soft and moist. I almost had the stew, but wit this heat I opted for the mula. A mula is like a quesadilla in that it's meat/cheese stuffed between two outer layers, but instead of flour tortillas, they're more like corn flour pancakes. Like if a corn tortilla and a pancake had a baby. It was then covered in a thin-ish red stew broth and that's what really put this dish over the top. I think it was $5 and that seems about right. I also ordered some ceviche, opting for the traditional ceviche "cooked" in lime, rather than the boiled version that they offer for the dubious. I lived to tell the tale. It was really nice, flavorful stuff. They also brought out a tray of condiments including limes and cilantro and some HOT salsa. I like that touch. The green salsa with homemade chips at the beginning of the meal, though, that was the money. It wasn't too spicy and that salsa was lime heaven; it was more heavily limed than normal but still that nice picante flavor. All told I was out the door with chips, salsa, mula, and ceviche for less than $10 so I gave the extremely helpful dude serving me a tip and came away happy. I still have no idea what flow like a harpoon daily and nightly means. I still have no idea why Nena is located here, who Nena is, or how someplace like this will ultimately stay in business with crazy cheap prices and this location (and paying people to stay here for dinner, yet closing at the odd hour of 8pm), but nonetheless all of these things are indeed true. The more I hang out in Ogden, the more I want to. I wish I had a reason to come up here every so often. I'd love to make the drive, enjoy the company in the car (sometimes if you hit rush hour traffic, it's gnarly) and make it a goal to try a new place every time I was here. read more

We decided to stop by today and we both got the birria with rice and beans and ceviche. The ceviche was good and so was the birria. Sadly we didn't know how to order the birria that comes with the special sauce you dip them in lol and they weren't fried. It was just meat and you got tortillas to put the meat in. But it is still really good. And their tortillas are amazing! The service was good and the person that helped us was nice.
