I wanted to try it because the name is in Spanish. It's a disappointment just like all other Mexican food restaurants in Utah. The potatoes are from frozen. I can't eat this massive thing for breakfast and feel physically okay. I'm used to eating a breakfast taco every now and then. And you eat one taco for breakfast that has 2 ingredients in it. No cheese. You don't need cheese. I'm not impressed. I don't think they make the tortilla in house either. All in all, with the large Mexican and Hispanic population I would think that there is at least a handful of restaurants catered to us. I did see nopales on the menu. And other things that look good. Four stars for the food, five stars for the waitress. I can't give 4.5, so I'll go with five just because the waitress was that darn good. The food is pretty authentic, but not very spicy. This is Utah. They don't really do spice in Utah. But they have a salsa bar if you want to add some heat to your food. WARNING: THE SALSA BAR IS SERIOUS ABOUT THEIR HEAT. DO NOT TREAT THE SALSA LIKE THE STORE-BOUGHT JUNK. So, I got some lengua tacos, tamales, and my wife got the chili rellenos. Very tasty, very good. You get plenty of food for the price - if you walk away hungry it's your own darn fault. They also have soups that look amazing, but I'll wait until it's below 90 degrees before I try any of it. To start our waitress was extremely nice. We were the only ones there, it was almost 9 pm and they close at 10 pm. We were a group of 6 and liked the food and service that we received. I ordered the carne asada plate. The plate came with rice, refried beans, fries, guacamole, salad, pico de Gallo and the big piece of steak. The carne asada steak was very well seasoned and cooked. We were staying at the hotel across the street and stopped here for dinner. The place has a very authentic Mexican vibe, nice decor, big restaurant. It was a little bit weird that we were the only diners there, I guess because they recently opened. The salsa that they put on the table to go with the chips was pleasantly spicy. I ordered the beef fajitas and they were pretty good, though the beef itself was a little bit bland and not really sizzling like I'd expect fajitas to be. I did appreciate the beans and rice that came with it, and everything was better putting some of the salsa on it. It was a drawback that they didn't have their liquor license yet and even though it says it's a bar, we couldn't get margaritas with our food. I have mixed feelings after our first visit to Tacos Blanquita today. It was medium busy... 4 or 5 tables occupied... for 3:30 or 4:00 on a Saturday. The place is kind of a strip mall type refurbished (kind of) from another type of restaurant type of place... probably not where you would take a date to impress them (if you know what I mean). The positive first... the food was quite good. I got the mixed fajitas that comes with chicken, steak and shrimp. The shrimp was absolutely amazing! The seasonings that they used on the shrimp made them some of the best ever. The steak was good, the chicken was just okay and the peppers and onions were good. Now for the rest of the story (as Paul Harvey would say)... There was a middle aged lady who took our order and seemed to do everything... take orders, refill drinks, serve food, take the check, clear tables, etc. There were obviously cooks in the back, and there was an older lady (grandma I assume) who kept the salsa bar stocked and a couple (2 or 3) young ladies (3rd generation, I'm guessing) who did pretty much nothing and seemed to know about the same about restaurant service... Anyway, we placed our drink order, got chips and was told to help ourselves to the salsa bar, which we did, and placed our food order. The chips and salsa were good. I went through my first glass of horchata pretty fast with the chips and salsa... that's where things started to go south. I sat with an empty glass for several minutes, while pretty much everyone else in the restaurant got attended to and I chewed up half a glass of ice... then had to get the attention of one of the younger ladies to get a refill. Then our food starts to come out. They brought out my fajitas first (well... part of them)... They brought out the meat with onions and peppers (just steak an chicken... I was asked if so got the mixed and I said yes, so they said that they will get my shrimp)... still no utensils... two minutes later... utensils!... two minutes later tortillas!... two minutes later rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole!... then two minutes later my wife's breakfast burrito!... two minutes later shrimp!!!... which saved the meal and were absolutely amazing! They apologized several times for forgetting the shrimp. Then my wife started on her breakfast burrito, which she ordered a small change... ham instead of sausage. When she got into the burrito she said "bacon!" I said "bonus!"... a few bites later she said "lots of bacon... no ham"... I tried a taste and the bacon was quite good, but not what my wife wanted. She sat for several minutes with an empty glass before she finally got impatient enough to get up and get a refill from the machine (behind the counter) herself... nobody said anything... and I had to flag someone down to get another refill on my horchata. My wife pointed out the mistake on her burrito and they apologized and offered to make her another one correctly, but we were full at this point. They took the cost of the incorrect breakfast burrito off the check... So... hence... the mixed feelings. The food was actually quite good. The service struggled significantly, but they were apologetic and tried to make things right. Because the food was good and they tried to make things right for the service, we will probably try it again... if we get significantly better service, I will update this review. read more

I've eaten here 3 times and so far it's kinda been a mix of 3 and 4 stars. Nothing is super good, but some menu items are pretty solid, like the gorditas, and others are very meh, like the chile verde. I grew up in Texas and Oklahoma, and this place is legit. Is it as good as the taco trucks back home? No, but it's definitely flavorful and decent Mexican food. The carne asada street tacos are good, and their spicy salsa is tangy and delicious. The beans and rice are okay, but I had to add some salsa to the rice. The tomatillo sauce is also very good. I still crave Texmex, but I'll have to satisfy that back home! The service is excellent, though. I'll definitely come back for more street tacos in the future. read more

My kids devoured their quesadillas, rice, and beans in absolutely no time. I got steak and shrimp fajitas and they were amazing, also only $9.99 on Fridays. My husband got 3 tacos and love them. I ordered food for pickup through the restaurant's website. I ordered 2 carnitas plates, and two flan napolitano. They couldn't provide the flan because they were out. When we got home, we discovered that they only gave us one carnitas plate. I was unable to return to the restaurant to pickup the missing carnitas plate. I called and asked for a refund for the food that I wasn't given and they refused. Total stolen from me was $23 plus tax. read more

Finally, a real street taco place in Davis county, but not on the street. This place appears to have previously been a taco cart turned brick-and-mortar restaurant. TLDR Version - Tacos Good...Tacos Blanquita Great...Especially Carnitas When I worked in SLC, we would do this thing we called the "tour de taco" where we would all bring in bikes, and then at lunch we'd ride to different taco carts en mass. This review isn't about the tour, but the point is that we ate at a lot of taco carts and consider myself to be a street taco ambassador. Then we moved to Layton, and I started working in Kaysville...no tacos...just sadness. I had tried a few of the Mexican restaurants in the area, where the tacos were either just ok, or they were good, not great, but way too expensive for street tacos. There was one cart by the Layton City park that was good, but it was like $8-9 for four street tacos...from a cart, what is this Beverly Hills? Then a new star appeared, and it was Tacos Blanquita, I call it "tacos blancos" at work because it's fun to repeat over and over quickly. Full disclosure, my specialties are Carne Asada and Carnitas tacos, so I'm somewhat limited in my assessment of the menu, and the menu is huge. I've heard good things about their dang quesadillas and something called a Torta, which looks like a giant hamburger beast. The Carne Asada was good, not mind blowing, but the Carnitas are legit. I've basically settled on Carnitas tacos as the flag bearer. There's a little fixin's bar where you can get your sauces, onions, cliantro, and other items needed to kit out your tacos. Generally it's well stocked, but the last three times I've been there, they haven't had the shredded cabbage, which is a bit of a black mark on the house, but I'm taking it in stride. Shredded cabbage is the litmus test for a street taco cart. If they are trying to give you lettuce, you're not at the right cart. Shredded cabbage is entirely about adding a crunchy texture to the taco, I don't think it changes the taste one bit. If you are going all out with the taco platter that includes rice and beans, you will love the re-fried beans and rice. The beans have this crumbly cheese on top, no idea what kind of cheese it is. I find that if I eat the platter of three tacos, rice and beans, that I have a hard time being productive for the rest of the day. The prices are a little higher than a street cart in order to have a building with lots of seating, but that is understandable. Generally, you will pay about $1.50 per taco, except on Wednesday when they pay homage to their street cart roots and sell two tacos for $1.50, just in case you don't know, that's street price. I feel conflicted in mentioning this because I'd rather have everyone else eat here on days other than Wednesdays to keep the line down. The last thing I'll mention is the ambiance. There is a lot of room/seating. The decor makes you smile. There is a lever-action rifle coat rack hung high on the wall and at an angle, clearly a form over function thing because you can't hang coats on it. There are a few metal chickens and a few pistolas (sp?) hanging on the wall. They do have a TV on the wall that generally runs a Spanish channel with futbol or some kind of daytime soap opera. I lied in the last paragraph about it being the last thing. Generally, your order is taking by a woman who I assume is Blanquita, which the internet tells me means "white lady", but whatevah. She's really nice, but might not catch everything if you ask for too many accommodations. It can take some time to get your order, unlike a street cart, so if you're with a big group, don't plan to be polite and wait for everyone to be served, you'll regret if you do. Hopefully this place does well and is around for a long time. read more

We had menu items such as the tacos (al pastor, sweet pork and carne Asada were favorites), steak quesadilla, burritos and enchiladas. We didn't know the cheese enchilada had queso fresco inside instead of regular shredded cheddar cheese - not something we've seen before and wasn't something I would order again. The steak quesadilla and tacos (2 for $1.75) were awesome. Burritos were pretty good. Condiment/salsa bar was fresh, which was nice. I'd like to see some pineapple (to put on the Al Pastor)! They didn't have any churro bowls or ice cream but gave us a churro that was tasty. Not a bad little place. read more
